Despite the increasing digitalization, loan officers continue to play a crucial role in the mortgage process. The survey found that 58% of respondents had their loan officer handle the initial application process for them. Efficiency and Transparency Improvements

The survey highlighted significant improvements in efficiency and transparency. A majority of respondents reported having access to technologies that provided real-time updates on loan status (69%), automated document submission (72%), and helpful tools like eSigning (52%) 2.

While homebuyers are embracing digital tools, the survey uncovered significant concerns regarding the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the mortgage process. A striking 60% of respondents stated that the use of AI in the loan process would cause them to select another lender 2.
