Elon Musk Says xAI Will Start an AI Game Studio 'To Make Games Great Again'
Elon Musk says his AI startup xAI will set up an artificial intelligence (AI) game studio. The world's richest person made a cryptic post on X (formerly known as Twitter) highlighting his frustrations with a large number of game studios being owned by large corporations. This is not the first time Musk has posted about gaming. He recently live streamed himself playing Diablo 4 and has expressed his admiration towards video games in general. In the post, the Executive Chairman and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of X highlighted that the AI game studio will be under xAI. The billionaire entrepreneur made the comments while responding to a post by software engineer Billy Markus, who co-created the Dogecoin cryptocurrency. In the post, Markus criticised the gaming industry for being "ideologically captured" and said that gamers have always rejected "dumb" manipulations by developers and gaming journalists. Markus also highlighted that most of the games he enjoyed in the last decade have come from independent developers and studios. Replying to the post, Musk highlighted, "Too many game studios that are owned by massive corporations," and added that xAI will soon start an AI game studio to "make games great again." The capabilities of AI in gaming have caught the interest of many companies operating in the sector. For instance, Google DeepMind introduced Genie, an AI model that can create endless 2D platformer video games using predictive analysis. DeepMind also unveiled Scalable Instructable Multiworld Agent (SIMA), an AI system that can interact with various gaming environments and carry out different tasks in 3D video games. Musk's comments about game studios being owned by large corporations come days after a report claimed that Sony is planning to acquire Kadokawa, the Japanese tech company that owns Elden Ring developer FromSoftware. Last year, Microsoft also completed the acquisition of Activision Blizzard, the publisher of Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, and Diablo among others. Musk's mention of xAI also highlights recent reports that suggest that the billionaire has big ambitions with his AI firm and wants to grow its scope to generate more revenue. The company is reportedly planning to launch a standalone AI app, similar to ChatGPT, as soon as the next month.

Elon Musk Launches AI Studio to Redefine Gaming Experiences
Elon Musk's xAI Studio Aims to Revolutionize the Gaming Industry Elon Musk, the world's richest person and founder of xAI, has announced plans to disrupt the video game industry with an AI-driven gaming studio. In a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter) on November 27, Musk declared his intention to "make games great again" through innovative applications of artificial intelligence. Musk's xAI is a company formed in March 2023 to help further scientific discovery thanks to AI; it has now turned its attention to the world of gaming. Most famously, xAI is responsible for AI chatbot Grok, currently available only to X Premium subscribers; until now, xAI has focused on building various tools aimed at pushing human knowledge regarding science and the universe further. But Musk now seems ready to use AI to change game experiences, taking on what he perceives as stagnation in the industry dominated by huge corporations. "There are just too many game studios now owned by large conglomerates," Musk pointed out, he intends to change that in his studio. That said, more information about the studio's core projects is still scarce, but the announcement could be viewed in terms of Musk's general style when he enters an industry which is more traditional.

Elon Musk wants to make video games good again... using AI - Softonic
With each passing day, it becomes increasingly clear that what was promised as "the great cultural revolution" has remained merely a refuge for the mediocre. I am talking, of course, about artificial intelligence, capable of creating texts without heart, images without soul, videos without naturalness, excerpts from a future that science fiction authors have been warning us about for years. What have we done? Of course, we have embraced drawings with six fingers, dislocated jaws, blurry faces, and unnatural movements. And, among all the people in the world, who would you say has decided to support AI as if it were the salvation of creativity? Of course, the king of the mediocre: Elon Musk. Imagine you are the richest person in the world. You are the right-hand of the President of the United States, own an aerospace company, the most well-known electric cars, and even your own social network that you have destroyed by mistreating it. What is the next step? Well, for Elon Musk, it's video games. Does that mean he has gathered a group of people who will create the future of the industry over several years? Of course not: he has relied on an artificial intelligence company. Musk has said on Twitter that he has created a video game studio that will use AI to "make video games good again." Because it's not like we're literally drowning in pending games because most of them are excellent! Of course, by "good" he refers to his fanciful ideas of anti-woke power that he believes the silent majority shares (instead of the minority that shouts louder than it should). The company in question is, of course, xAI (within Musk's obsession with the letter X), which so far has brought Grok, the artificial intelligence of Twitter that literally no one is using. No one really knows what he means by "making games using AI" (all games in history have AI in some way, that's what it's about). Could it be that he's still hurt from that time he was booed at a Valorant tournament and has decided to create his own games? His followers on Twitter think it's the best idea ever. The rest of us just want this horrible dystopia to end once and for all.

Elon Musk Wants to Use His xAI Startup to Create Video Games
As Elon Musk helps shape the Trump administration and US policy, he's also turning his sights to a new venture: Developing video games. On Wednesday, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO tweeted about creating a game studio through his startup xAI, which is also developing the Grok chatbot and other tools to compete against OpenAI's ChatGPT. "Too many game studios...are owned by massive corporations. xAI is going to start an AI game studio to make games great again!" wrote Musk, an avid gamer who regularly plays Diablo IV. But it looks like Musk's game studio will also reflect his politics. Musk's post came in response to a tweet from Dogecoin's co-creator, Billy Markus, who is critical of today's video games. "I don't understand how game developers and game journalism got so ideologically captured," Markus posted, later adding: "Gamers have always rejected dumb manipulative BS and can tell when someone is an outsider poser." Musk today also took a shot at Microsoft's Xbox team over allegations the company has been taking its diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts too far. "Can they just make good games and skip the woke lecture?? Wtf" Musk tweeted on Wednesday. Days earlier, Musk also posted on X/Twitter that "Having pronouns in a fantasy video game is utterly unacceptable," citing a screenshot from the upcoming Xbox title Avowed, which will apparently let the player select their character's gender. Hence, Musk's game studio might operate in the same way he's used X/Twitter to push his politics and views in the US culture wars. However, developing a major video game is no easy feat; a large game studio typically takes years and hundreds of millions of dollars to develop a AAA title. Generative AI may streamline the game development process; earlier this month, Netflix announced its own push to use generative AI to build games.

Elon Musk's xAI Plans To 'Make Games Great Again' With AI-Driven Game Studio -- Can His Vision Reshape A Gaming Industry Dominated By Large Corporations? - Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT), Electronic Arts (NASDAQ:EA)
Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has announced that his artificial intelligence startup, xAI, will start an AI-driven game studio. What Happened: On Wednesday, Musk responded to a user on X, formerly Twitter, who shared concern that some modern game studios prioritize profit over player engagement and creativity. In response, Musk made the announcement challenging the dominance of large, corporate-owned game studios by focusing on creativity and innovation, and "make games great again." See Also: Elon Musk Pushes Brain Implant Production as $14.7 Million Texas Facility Takes Shape Musk has long expressed his love for video games, often sharing his thoughts on Twitter. His passion dates back to when, at 12, he sold a game he developed for $500. Over the years, he's praised titles like Elden Ring from Japanese studio FromSoftware and Diablo IV from Microsoft Corporation's MSFT Blizzard. According to his biography by Walter Isaacson, Musk was also a fan of the strategy game Polytopia, where he once beat the game's creator, Felix Ekenstam. Tesla's Cybertruck even debuted in Fortnite and Rocket League, games from Epic Games and Psyonix, respectively. Several game studios are owned by large corporations: Activision Blizzard, now a subsidiary of Microsoft Gaming, has notable titles such as Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, Diablo, and Overwatch. The company was acquired by Microsoft in October 2023 for $75 billion. In 2022, it reported a revenue of $7.52 billion, a decline from $8.80 billion in 2021. Another American video game company is Electronic Arts Inc. EA, known for its sports and actions with notable titles such as FIFA, Madden NFL, and The Sims. Last month, EA announced second-quarter net revenues of $2.025 billion, slightly below the expected $2.037 billion. However, their earnings per share (EPS) of $1.11 surpassed the forecasted $0.88. Take-Two Interactive TTWO has titles like Grand Theft Auto and NBA 2K under its belt. It also has several successful labels including Rockstar Games and 2K. Earlier this month, TTWO reported another solid quarter, driven by record performances from its key titles and growth in subscription services. The company's net bookings reached $1.47 billion, a slight increase from the previous year, while net revenue rose by 4% to $1.35 billion. Elon Musk wants to 'make games great again' with AI studio
Ian Walker loves exploring niche communities and researching the development of classic video games. Elon Musk, the richest person in the world and the new BFF of President-elect Trump, plans to wade into the video game industry by opening a studio. Musk detailed his vaguely defined plans on X (formerly Twitter), the social media site he bought in October 2022, which has been losing users -- particularly following the US presidential election. "Too many game studios [...] are owned by massive corporations," Musk opined the morning of Nov. 27 before going on to announce his own massive corporation, xAI, is starting an AI game studio to "make games great again." xAI bills itself as "working on building artificial intelligence to accelerate human scientific discovery, [...] guided by our mission to advance our collective understanding of the universe." The company is perhaps best known for Grok, the ChatGPT-style bot available to X Premium subscribers. Musk founded xAI in March 2023. It's unclear what Musk knows about how video games are developed or how a studio is run. Though that hasn't prevented him from sharing his opinions on the field in the past, like when he opined on crafting the worst Elden Ring build of all time and grinding his way to what some believe is a dubious top ranking in Diablo 4. Maybe he's still stinging from being heckled at a major Valorant tournament. In any case, it appears those of us with a stake in this medium who already abandoned X for greener pastures will still need to keep an eye on Musk as he continues to cozy up to United States President-elect Donald Trump who has a long history of favoring the business of his allies -- and turning their enemies into his own.

How Elon Musk plans to change gaming world? World's richest man announces AI game studio after complaining to Satya Nadella
Elon Musk plans to launch a new AI-powered game studio under xAI, aiming to compete with industry giants like Microsoft and Sony. He criticised current gaming practices and promises to make games great again. His new studio will focus on fun and avoid political messaging, leveraging AI to create engaging game experiences.Elon Musk has revealed plans to launch a new game studio powered by artificial intelligence. The tech mogul shared the announcement on his social media platform X (formerly Twitter), stating that the gaming studio, created under his AI startup xAI, aims to disrupt the gaming industry and challenge industry giants like Microsoft's Xbox and Sony's PlayStation. In response to a critique from Dogecoin co-creator Billy Markus about the dominance of large corporations, Musk voiced his dissatisfaction with the current state of gaming. He further promised that the xAI gaming studio would "make games great again." Musk also recently criticized Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella on X over allegations of discriminatory hiring practices at Xbox. The decision comes after Markus criticised major players of the gaming industry and wrote: "I don't understand how game developers and game journalism got so ideologically captured. Gamers have always been trolls, anti-greedy corporations, anti-bs. Gamers have always rejected dumb manipulative bs, and can tell when someone is an outsider poser. Why lean into the bs?" "Too many game studios that are owned by massive corporations. @xAI is going to start an AI game studio to make games great again!" said Elon Musk in his announcement post. Previously, Musk also criticised the inclusion of a pronoun selection feature in the upcoming Xbox game, Avowed. "Having pronouns in a fantasy video game is utterly unacceptable ," he wrote on X while condemning the feature. With the xAI gaming studio, Musk plans to revolutionize the gaming industry by leveraging AI to streamline game development and deliver more immersive experiences. The studio is expected to focus on creating games that emphasize fun and steer clear of political messaging, aligning with Musk's criticisms of the current gaming landscape. This new venture further expands Musk's diverse portfolio, which already spans electric vehicles, space exploration, and brain technology. World's richest man and CEO of Tesla, Elon Musk, has taken up podcaster Ian Miles Cheong's complaint of Microsoft to Indian-origin CEO Satya Nadella. Elon Musk was reacting to a series of posts shared on X, formerly Twitter, by Cheong blamed Microsoft's gaming division for discriminating against Whites in hiring. Microsoft's gaming division is excluding whites from being hired to work on their video games. All of their new hires are unqualified queer and black people because the company's executives have an explicit mandate against "crusty old white dudes," said the podcaster. To this Musk responded by tagging Microsoft CEO Nadella, "Um, @satyanadella, this is illegal ..." In another post, Cheong shared a Blue Sky post of a popular art director claiming that he boasted of being sexist and racist with Whites. "Avowed art director at Obsidian and Microsoft brags about being racist and sexist against white guys. It's in the company's unspoken hiring policy, which he's partly in charge of," he wrote. Social media platform Blue Sky is X's rival. Several US celebrities opposed to Elon Musk have left Twitter and joined Blue Sky, after accusing the platform of being toxic and racist. The post Cheong shared with Matthew Hansen, Art Director at Obsidian Entertainment, who had made fun of Musk's old post where he wrote, "It should not be acceptable for any company in the gaming industry to be racist and sexist against "white guys". Musk's response to Hansen's post had a warning. "He is confessing to illegal behavior. Won't end well for him," he wrote,

Elon Musk says too many game studios are owned by giant corporations so his giant corporation is going to start a studio to 'make games great again'
Musk says he's going to launch an "AI game studio" at his xAI startup. X owner Elon Musk has taken a brief break from posting racism, transphobia, and conspiracy theory nonsense to say that gaming has become too "woke" because the industry is dominated by massive corporations, and so he is going to use his own massive corporation to start a new game studio powered by AI "to make games great again!" Musk's latest outburst came in response to Dogecoin co-creator Billy Markus, who said he doesn't understand how game developers and journalists have become "so ideologically captured," particularly given that gamers -- real gamers, one must assume -- "have always rejected dumb manipulative BS, and can tell when someone is an outsider poser." "Too many game studios that are owned by massive corporations," said Musk, the owner of X, SpaceX, and Tesla, whose personal net worth is somewhere north of $322 billion. "xAI is going to start an AI game studio to make games great again!" Lest there be any doubt about his motivations, Musk wrote in another post, "Can't they just make good games and skip the woke lecture?" This is all deeply, despairingly stupid, starting from the very premise that a giant corporation is going to save videogames from, uh, giant corporations. xAI is a "startup" but currently has at least 100,000 Nvidia GPUs at its disposal, meaning it's already a multi-billion-dollar operation. Musk's concept of an "AI game studio" goes entirely unexplored, but is presumably some sort of holodeck-inspired nonsense that, much like the promise of near-future offworld colonization, lives entirely in the realm of fantasy. Despite the obvious ridiculousness of the whole thing, Musk's tweet is getting traction from predictable corners of the platform, who are thrilled with the prospect of game ownership being returned to the people (which is to say the wealthiest man in the world). At least one actual game designer doesn't appear to be buying it, though. Say what you will about Battlecruiser 3000 AD, but he's not wrong. The likelihood of this going anywhere beyond a stupid idea expressed in a stupid tweet is very slim, but I do harbor some small hope that Musk will talk himself into it, much like he talked himself into having to buy Twitter. If that happens, I would also expect similar results. Amazon and Google, both virtual bottomless money buckets themselves, discovered the hard way that making and releasing videogames is actually really difficult. I've reached out to X for comment on Musk's latest idea, and will update if I receive a reply.

Elon Musk wants to enter the video games industry using AI
Donald Trump's triumph has shaken the global information network, even beyond the borders and interests of Americans. Trump has drawn up a list of close associates in positions of very high responsibility that many governments describe as worrying. And one of them has been Elon Musk, appointed head of the new Department of Efficiency. But Musk is a visionary entrepreneur in future technologies, and one of those he wants to continue to exploit in the future is the use of artificial intelligence. And he wants to do so through the creation of video games. The tycoon who owns X published a message on his social network today in which he reports that he is going to create a video game studio created using AI, in clear opposition to "large corporations", which are "prisoners of an ideology", continuing with the main thread to which he was responding. The project will be launched through his subsidiary company xAI, with which he wants to "Make Great Games Again!", a clear reference to Trump's campaign slogan MAGA. What do you think - are AI-powered video games the future, or does this set a dangerous precedent for the creativity and continuity of our entertainment medium?
