iPhone 16 vs. iPhone 15 Pro: Can You Get More Function for Less Money?
Key Takeaways iPhone 16 closely matches iPhone 15 Pro design-wise, though the case won't transfer due to a new Camera Control button. iPhone 16 lacks an always-on display and ProMotion but otherwise has the same screen as the iPhone 15 Pro. iPhone 16 has newer features such as the Camera Control button and improved wireless charging, but both phones are fairly evenly matched and the iPhone 15 Pro even gets Apple Intelligence support. Will a new base model iPhone offer everything you love in your older iPhone Pro, for less money? The answer depends on how old your iPhone is, and where your priorities lie. Let's look at how this pans out with the new iPhone 16 and the previous-generation iPhone 15 Pro. Similar Design, but Your Case Won't Transfer Apple has landed on a uniform iPhone form factor that has persisted across its recent yearly iterations. Now that the iPhone 16 has been given the Action button previously exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro, this design parity is truer than ever. The main differences are the dimensions and cameras. The latter has only changed by mere fractions of inches, however. You may notice that the iPhone 15 is 0.6-ounces lighter, but the phone and screen size are virtually identical. But new buttons and camera cutouts mean that cases won't transfer over. The new Camera Control button on the iPhone 16 is one reason why you won't be able to use an iPhone 15 Pro case with it. Apple is combining a sapphire crystal and conductive layer in its new cases to allow touch gestures to be read through protective shells. The iPhone 16 comes in a brighter palette of colors (ultramarine, teal, pink, black, white) than the Pro line's industrial vibes. Expect the iPhone 16's back glass to feel much smoother than the textured finish of the Pro. The iPhone 15 Pro Has a Superior Display One of my favorite features of the iPhone 15 Pro is its always-on display (though can be a bit of a battery drain). The iPhone 16 still lacks this functionality. The iPhone 16 still sports Apple's Super Retina XDR display, which is marketing lingo for an HDR OLED panel. The iPhone 15 Pro display has double the refresh rate at 120Hz, something Apple refers to as ProMotion, which regulates refresh rates depending on what an app demands from the device. This results in a smoother interface, something that's hard to move away from once you've experienced it. Going from an iPhone 15 Pro to an iPhone 16 will feel like a downgrade because of the choppier and less versatile screen. Comparing Cameras Is a Mixed Bag While the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 have a lot of similarities between their cameras, the iPhone 15 Pro camera remains superior due to its telephoto lens. This allows for increased optical zoom, meaning you'll be able to get close-up photos of far-away subjects without sacrificing quality. The iPhone 16 has a shorter optical zoom (2x), and it caps out at 12MP. Despite this, the typical consumer may prefer the photo-taking experience of the iPhone 16 thanks to the new Camera Control button. This offers immediate access to the camera app and the ability to make on-the-fly photo adjustments by sliding your finger along the button's touch-sensitive exterior. This button will also enable the use of Visual Intelligence when the offshoot of Apple's AI suite is available later this year. Visual Intelligence will read your surroundings and feed you back information about places and things within it. The iPhone 16's vertical camera array allows it to capture spatial photos and videos. This is Apple-speak for stereoscopic 3D and while it's a super cool feature on paper, you'll need an Apple Vision Pro (or a VR/XR headset that supports the format) in order to view them. Thus, it offers no functionality to most users, but perhaps Apple is setting up future plans that we're not yet privy to where spatial capture will become widely relevant. Casual photographers will find the iPhone 16 a more enjoyable experience given Camera Control and Visual Intelligence, but the iPhone 15 Pro's additional lens makes it a better camera overall. The iPhone 16 Has Better Wireless Charging By just a hair, the iPhone 15 Pro has a better battery than the iPhone 16. We're talking one to two hours more of video playback, though if your iPhone 15 Pro is a year or more old then battery degradation may have already negated this improvement. The real difference here is the updated charging capabilities of the iPhone 16. Apple has introduced 25W wireless charging, up from the 15W Qi2 standard the company inspired. 25W wireless charging is touted by Apple to charge 50% of your phone's battery in 30 minutes, but you'll need a 30W adapter. A New A18 Processor for the iPhone 16 The iPhone 16 uses Apple's new A18 chip, whereas the iPhone 15 Pro uses the company's A17 Pro chip. Looking at projected benchmarks, the two chips have very similar performance. The A18 takes small wins in CPU, memory, download speeds, 8K video playback potential, and small updates to current Wi-Fi and Bluetooth standards. The A17 Pro has a small GPU advantage. Power users will want to opt for the iPhone 16 Pro's A18 Pro chip, which is the only clear-cut leap forward for Apple's mobile chipset. Both models support USB-C charging, but only the iPhone 15 Pro supports data transfer at USB 3.0 speeds. Apple Intelligence and iOS 18 for Both iOS 18 is going to offer virtually the same feature set for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16. This includes Apple Intelligence, Apple's suite of AI features set to launch alongside iOS 18.1 in October. Eventually, this will bring features like a smarter Siri, generative text and image features, intelligent summaries of email and notifications, and more. The iPhone 15 Pro is the only last-generation model to get this feature, which is a compelling reason to keep your handset for at least another year. The Cost of Entry for an iPhone 16 The iPhone 16 costs $799 for 128GB, $899 for 256GB, and $1,099 for 512GB. For a direct comparison, you could get a 256GB iPhone 16 Pro for the same $1,099 price tag. You can read How-To Geek's comparison between those two phones if you'd consider giving up storage space for more power and features. The iPhone 15 Pro has been taken off the market to make room for the iPhone 16 Pro, so you won't be able to buy one from Apple. Should You Upgrade? The iPhone 16 offers a very similar experience to the iPhone 15 Pro, which leads to different conclusions depending on what you're looking for. If you're looking to upgrade your iPhone 15 Pro and can't be without the unique features of the Pro line like an always-on screen and larger size option, the iPhone 16 will feel like a step backward. You won't miss out on the upcoming AI features, and your iPhone 15 Pro will feel performant and capable for years to come. With the iPhone 16, you'll get the benefit of the Camera Control button for a better casual photography experience, and 25W wireless charging if you're willing to buy a 30W charger to support it. You should probably hold on to your iPhone 15 Pro instead. Additionally, you may want to consider an iPhone 16 Plus if you're looking for a bigger screen. iPhone 16 vs. iPhone 14 Pro: How Does an Old Pro Compare?
How to Wirelessly Transfer Files Between Windows, macOS, Linux, and Mobile Quick LinksBoth Phones Offer a Similar Form Factor iPhone 14 Pro Has a ProMotion Display A18 vs. A16 Bionic iPhone 14 Pro Offers a Telephoto Lens Expect Both Phones to Provide a Similar Battery Life Both iPhones Support iOS 18 iPhone 16 Costs $200 Less Than iPhone 14 Pro Key Takeaways The new iPhone 16 has a 6.1-inch screen, runs on the A18 processor, and features a dual-camera setup aligned vertically. The iPhone 14 Pro also has a 6.1-inch screen, but it supports variable refresh rate up to 120Hz. Powering the smartphone is Apple's A16 Bionic chip. Compared to the iPhone 16, the iPhone 14 Pro provides an additional telephoto lens, a higher refresh rate, and the ability to record ProRes videos but misses out on Apple Intelligence features. As the years go by, Apple's base model iPhones are becoming just as good as the older Pro models. So what difference does two years make, and is an iPhone 16 worth "upgrading" to from an older iPhone 14 Pro? Let's take a look. Both Phones Offer a Similar Form Factor When it comes to design, the iPhone 16 resembles the iPhone 14 Pro in more than a few ways. First, both phones have similar dimensions with negligible differences in height, width, and depth. Second, the iPhone 16 features the same Dynamic Island that Apple introduced with the iPhone 14 Pro. Furthermore, both phones share an edge-to-edge display design, along with an IP68 dust and water resistance rating. The differences, however, lie in the materials, colors, and buttons on the side panels. On the front, the iPhone 16 features the second-generation Ceramic Shield (50% tougher than the previous generation), while the back panel is made out of color-infused glass. Carved out of aluminum, the side frame has a textured finish, making the iPhone easier to grip. In comparison, the iPhone 14 Pro has first-generation Ceramic Shield protection, textured matt glass back, and a polished stainless steel frame. Other differences between the two phones include the colors, the rear camera module's shape, and the buttons introduced on the new model. The iPhone 16 comes in five colors: ultramarine, teal, pink, white, and black. The iPhone 14 Pro, like the other Pro models, shipped in four colors: space black, silver, gold, and deep purple. The camera module on the iPhone 16 consists of two sensors that are aligned vertically in a pill-shaped cutout (much like what we saw on the iPhone X), while that of the iPhone 14 Pro consists of three sensors in a square-shaped island. The iPhone 16 also borrows the Action button from the iPhone 15 Pro and features a brand-new Camera Control button, which lets users access the Camera app, adjust settings, and capture pictures in an instant. iPhone 14 Pro Has a ProMotion Display Even though the iPhone 16 and the iPhone 14 Pro have a similar 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display, the latter supports a variable refresh rate, up to 120Hz, which is what Apple likes to call a ProMotion display. In general, screens with a higher refresh rate feel more responsive to touch and show smoother animations, which might not sound that big a deal, but you can't go back once you've had a taste of it. However, that is the extent of differences between the smartphones' screens, as beyond refresh rate, both feature the same resolution, peak brightness, Apple's True Tone technology, but the iPhone 14 Pro also has an always-on display. A18 vs. A16 Bionic Apple's latest iPhones come equipped with its latest chip, the A18. Although the number of CPU cores (six) and GPU cores (five) are the same on both, the A18 is significantly faster and, at the same time, more power efficient than the A16 Bionic. As a result, the iPhone 16 should be better at handling multiple apps in the background, rendering videos once you edit them, and hitting smoother frame rates while playing AAA games. It's not like the A16 Bionic isn't a capable processor. In fact, it is comparable to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 that was released in 2023, a year after Apple released the iPhone 14 series. It's just that the A16 Bionic isn't optimized to run the generative models that Apple has developed to facilitate on-device AI features. iPhone 14 Pro Offers a Telephoto Lens Both the iPhone 16 and the iPhone 14 Pro have a 48MP wide camera (with a slightly bigger aperture on the former) and a 12MP ultrawide. However, the iPhone 14 Pro takes its optics games to another level, thanks to a dedicated 12MP telephoto sensor that provides up to 3x optical and 15x digital zoom. To capture selfies, you get a 12MP front camera on both handsets. While both phones can record 4K videos at 60 fps, the iPhone 16 has some new features, including wind noise reduction, Audio Mix for focusing on different audio sources in a video recording, and higher resolution QuickTake videos (4K at 60 fps). The latest iPhone also ships with new Photographic Styles to change the overall mood and tone of a picture. ProRes video recording (4K at 30 fps) is available only on the Pro model. Expect Both Phones to Provide a Similar Battery Life The iPhone 16 is rated to last for up to 22 hours, while the iPhone 16 Pro can provide up to 23 hours of video playback. Of course, the battery life won't be as good on a two-year-old iPhone 14 Pro, but seeing a regular iPhone catching up with a Pro model's battery life is great. The iPhone 16 supports 25W MagSafe charging (with a 30W adapter or higher), while the iPhone 14 Pro is stuck at 15W MagSafe charging. Both models also support Qi2 wireless charging at 15W, which was added to the iPhone 14 Pro in a 2023 iOS update. Both iPhones Support iOS 18 Due to the difference in processing power, only the iPhone 16 will get Apple Intelligence features as part of the iOS 18.1 update (to ship later this year). The update will unlock features like contextually-aware Siri, email summarization, text-based descriptions for finding images (and videos), content/image generation, and many more. Given that the iPhone 14 Pro came out in 2022, it will likely get the latest iOS updates for another three or four years before it becomes obsolete. iPhone 16 Costs $200 Less Than iPhone 14 Pro The iPhone 16 is available at $799 for the baseline variant with 128GB of storage. While pre-orders for the smartphone begin September 13, it will be available at stores starting September 20. The iPhone 14 Pro came out at $999 for the baseline variant with 128GB of storage. Given that Apple has discontinued the model, it is only available via third-party sellers like Walmart, and that too in selected configurations. After writing this comparison, I can safely say that it takes two years for a non-Pro iPhone to catch up to a Pro iPhone, but even then, it can't outperform the features enabled by additional hardware. If you already own an iPhone 14 Pro and the fancy Apple Intelligence features don't matter, there's no need to upgrade to the iPhone 16. You already have a better display and a more versatile camera setup on your iPhone. If you're facing some sort of battery issues, you can arrange a service request and get the battery repaired for a fraction of the price of a new iPhone and use it for another year or so. If you absolutely have to upgrade, consider going through our comparison between the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro, which will help you make up your mind. iPhone 16 vs. iPhone 13: How Much Has Changed?
How to Wirelessly Transfer Files Between Windows, macOS, Linux, and Mobile Quick LinksThe iPhone 16 Design Has Improved Considerably iPhone 16 Has a Brighter Screen The A18 Chipset Supports Apple Intelligence Do Better Cameras Matter to You? iPhone 16 is More Power Efficient, With Faster Charging iPhone 13 Won't Get Apple Intelligence The iPhone 16 Launches at the Same Price Key Takeaways The iPhone 16 offers significant upgrades over the iPhone 13, including a brighter display, a more powerful processor, a 48MP primary camera, and faster MagSafe charging. The iPhone 13 shares a similar (but dimmer) 6.1-inch screen but with a larger notch, but features an older A15 Bionic processor, and an inferior 12MP primary camera. Later this year, Apple Intelligence will be available as part of an iOS 18 upgrade for the iPhone 16, but iPhone 13 owners will miss out. Apple's iPhone 13 is one of the most popular non-Pro iPhone models out there. While the phone held its ground until 2024, the iPhone 16 puts forward several compelling reasons to upgrade. Here's a detailed comparison of the two to help you decide whether an upgrade is worth it. The iPhone 16 Design Has Improved Considerably In terms of design, there are plenty of similarities between the iPhone 16 and the three-year-old iPhone 13. Both phones have comparable dimensions and weight (with the iPhone 16 being just 4g lighter), which results in a similar form factor. Apple has used an aluminum casing on non-Pro iPhones for ages, and these models are no different. Another commonality among the devices is the IP68 dust and water resistance rating, which, like a metal casing, has become the industry standard for most flagships. But there are some big differences that set both phones apart. The Dynamic Island on the front and the vertically arranged camera array on the back of the iPhone 16 are arguably the two most noticeable changes. Adding to the list are the iPhone 16's colors, which include black, white, pink, teal, and ultramarine. On the other hand, the iPhone 13 came out in starlight, midnight, blue, pink, green, and (Product) RED. On top of that, the latest iPhone has two new buttons on its side frames. These include the Action Button we first saw on the iPhone 15 Pro and a brand-new Camera Control button explicitly built for the Camera app. If you look at the bottom of the phone, you'll notice another big change: the iPhone 16 has a USB-C port, not a Lightning port. iPhone 16 Has a Brighter Screen Even though both iPhones feature a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display, there's a stark difference between how bright they are. While the iPhone 13 can only achieve 1200 nits of peak brightness, the iPhone 16, like the Pro models, can do 2000 nits. This makes the screen appear more vibrant, even under direct sunlight. That's not to say that the iPhone 13's screen isn't visible; it's just that performance in bright sunlight is a lot better on the iPhone 16. We've already talked about the Dynamic Island on the iPhone 16, which unlocks new ways of interacting with notifications while cleverly hiding the sensors for Face ID. The iPhone 13, on the other hand, still has that chunky notch at the top, which, to be honest, doesn't scream 2024 (or 2025, for that matter). The A18 Chipset Supports Apple Intelligence With the iPhone 16, Apple debuted the new A18 chipset, which, for all means and purposes, is leaps and bounds ahead of the A15 Bionic chip on the iPhone 13. The new six-core CPU is up to 50% faster, while the five-core GPU is up to 70% faster. This unlocks a new realm of performance on the iPhone 16. Apple's iPhone 16 features hardware-accelerated ray tracing, letting you enjoy your favorite AAA video game with better performance and lightting. Last but not least, the A18 chip has a better thermal design that delivers up to 30% higher sustained performance while gaming. There's no question that the A18 chip is three generations ahead, and that should also show in day-to-day usage. Do Better Cameras Matter to You? Adding to the list of upgrades is a 48MP primary sensor on the iPhone 16, which has four-times the resolution of the 12MP sensor on the iPhone 13. Given the higher resolution, the camera can also capture pictures at 2x zoom with lossless quality. The 12MP ultrawide camera on the newer model has a larger aperture, allowing the sensor to capture more light. This improves the low-light performance, which is one of the weak points of the iPhone 13's ultrawide camera. The ultrawide camera is also equipped with autofocus, which unlocks macro photography on the iPhone 16. That's not all, as the iPhone 16 can record cinematic videos in 4K resolution at 30 fps, has Action Mode for stabilizing intense movements, and records macro videos. For those who like the QuickTake feature, its video resolution has been improved to 4K at 60 fps instead of 1080p at 30 fps on the iPhone 13. The iPhone 16 can also capture spatial photos/videos and features a wind noise reduction algorithm. Leaving the front camera, which is still the same 12MP sensor, the iPhone 16 offers several camera-related upgrades. iPhone 16 is More Power Efficient, With Faster Charging The iPhone 16 is rated to provide up to three more hours of video playback than the iPhone 13. However, you should also factor in the current battery health of your iPhone 13, especially if you purchased the smartphone in 2021. I bought the vanilla iPhone 13 in 2022, and after two years of heavy usage, its battery health is currently at 80%. For people like me, the regular iPhone 16 delivers a significant improvement. The iPhone 16 supports 25W MagSafe charging with a 30w adapter, but both models can make use of 15W Qi2 wireless charging thanks to an iOS update in 2023. The wired charging speeds on both models remain the same. iPhone 13 Won't Get Apple Intelligence I have been using the iOS 18 public beta on my iPhone 13 for a while, and it works well. Apart from a couple of app crashes here and there, I couldn't detect any major bugs with the operating system. Apple Intelligence aside, the iPhone 13 will still get all of the new iOS 18 features, including home screen customizations, a new Passwords app, a Game Mode, and improvements to the keyboard, among others. The iPhone 16, on the other hand, will get all the fancy GenAI features when Apple Intelligence rolls out later this year. These include text/image generation, contextually aware Siri with screen awareness, email and notification summarization, and Visual Intelligence. The iPhone 13 should get another three years of support from Apple in the form of iOS updates. The iPhone 16 Launches at the Same Price The vanilla iPhone 16 is available for $799 for the 128GB storage variant. You can pre-order a unit today and get it on or after September 20. Even though the iPhone 13 launched at $799 for the 128G storage variant, it is available for $549 at Best Buy. Comparing both phones side by side, it is clear that the iPhone 16 offers some significant upgrades over the iPhone 13. Even though the new phone doesn't ship with 256GB base storage or a 120Hz ProMotion display, it still makes up for a comprehensive upgrade. However, if the updates don't matter, and all one wants is a value-for-money smartphone that ticks all boxes, the iPhone 13 still makes up for a great purchase in 2024. If you're considering going Pro, check out our comparison between the iPhone 16 and the iPhone 16 Pro to get a better idea of the additional features you get with the Pro. iPhone 16 vs. iPhone 15: What to consider if you're upgrading to Apple's base model
The latest iPhone 16 improves on last year's model by introducing AI features and a series of hardware changes, but should you take the leap? This week, Apple officially unveiled the iPhone 16 series, which consists of the base model, the iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and the 16 Pro Max. Whenever a new generation comes out, there is one question on every iOS user's mind -- is it worth upgrading? Also: Apple just gave me a compelling reason to buy the smaller iPhone 16 Pro over the Max this year Some would argue "not really" because so much of the next-gen smartphone family is still unproven, as impressive as they may be at first glance. The iPhone 16 introduces a subtle yet impactful design change, generative AI (gen AI) to the iOS ecosystem, camera updates, and more. People not interested in these updates or on a budget may want to purchase last year's iPhone 15 instead. It's still a great phone. To help you make this decision, we've broken down all of the most important details for the Phone 15 and iPhone 16 below. We also included a couple of alternatives at the bottom. Apple is rolling out multiple AI features to the iPhone 16. Chief among them is the long-awaited Siri upgrade. The iOS assistant is much smarter than before as it is now aware of on-screen content, can better understand commands even if you stumble over your words, and can switch between text and voice inputs. This is just the tip of the iceberg, too, as Siri will fully integrate itself with ChatGPT later in the year. Also: Your AIrPods Pro 2 can soon double as over-the-counter hearing aids. Here's how There is more to the AI features beyond Siri. Apple Intelligence will be able to summarize notifications and Priority Messages in the Mail app. Like Siri, the feature will be able to understand context. Apple Intelligence will gain additional features later in the year like the ability to create custom emojis and perform multiple actions across apps. The iPhone 16 is seeing a new camera array. On the back will be a 48MP Fusion camera serving as the main lens. It'll have a 2x Telephoto option for up-close photography. Apple states it'll be like having "two cameras in one." Alongside it will be a 12MP Ultra Wide lens with an autofocus function that can enable "macro photography." It can also take in "2.6x times more light [than before] for higher image quality." Also: The 5 best iPhone 16 Pro features that enthusiasts will care about On the side below the Power Button is the new Camera Control. It's a tactile switch with a special sensor that can perform unique actions with a light touch. For example, pressing it quickly launches the Camera app for taking quick snapshots or recording a video. It even introduces a preview feature to help you frame the shot. And if that wasn't enough, it'll work with third-party apps. Powering the iPhone 16 will be Apple's A18 chipset which the tech giant claims "delivers a huge leap in performance and power efficiency." Its processor is 30 faster than the iPhone 15's A16 Bionic chip and requires 30 percent less power for the same workloads. The GPU on the iPhone 16 is better too, boasting a 40 percent speed boost over the previous generation. Gamers, in particular, will appreciate the stronger performance. Apple says players will enjoy higher graphical fidelity and consistent frame rates. The tech giant says the iPhone 16 will house a better battery. At the time of writing, it's unknown what Apple has done to improve the batteries. However, it revealed that it updated the internal design of the iPhone 16 to allow for a larger power source and "to better dissipate heat". All of the bells and whistles on the iPhone 16 are certainly nice, but are they must-haves? To many people, probably not. Generative AI still has its' issues despite advancing rapidly in the past couple of years. Apple Intelligence and the new Siri may be great, but we wouldn't be surprised to see users encounter performance problems or hallucinations. Also: iPhone 15 review: Why I recommend this model even to 'Pro' users in 2024 Sometimes, it's best to wait until all the bugs have been ironed out. Plus, there's a lot of uncertainty surrounding the chipset. Early impressions indicate the A18 can handle all the AI features, but can it? Or will we see a performance drop once it launches? With the release of a new model, older phones often see a price drop, and that is exactly what we're getting here. Apple has cut the price of the iPhone 15 by about $100 off its digital storefront to entice new adopters. It wouldn't be a bad pick-up, either. The camera system of the previous generation is great to this day, the A16 Bionic chip is still plenty powerful, and the Dynamic Island is a welcomed addition. You can enjoy a similar camera performance. Plus, you won't be bogged down by nascent AI features you may or may not ever use.

iPhone 16 Is Clearly The Upgrade You Should Get Over The iPhone 16 Pro - Here's Why
Apple launched the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro models recently and the devices have a lot going for them, but based on first look, the standard models received a handful of design variations, while the bigger 'Pro' models only adhered to the size. If you are still adamant about buying one of the devices, check out why the iPhone 16 model is the one that you should go for. Apple made some nifty changes to the entire iPhone 16 lineup this year, and to some extent, the difference between the standard and the 'Pro' models is less than last year's iPhone 15 lineup. If you are on the verge of making a decision, here's why you should consider the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus instead of the iPhone 16 Pro or iPhone 16 Pro Max. Design The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus feature a new design from the rear, bringing back the vertical camera setup that is not only slightly bigger than before but more capable as well. It will give users a fresh look and feel for sure and the vertical cameras now support Spatial Video support, which is a welcome addition if you have the company's Vision Pro headset. Cameras The camera setup on the iPhone 16 is pretty capable and in line with the company's entire lineup. This means that you get a 48MP main camera and a 48MP ultra-wide camera for enhanced macro photography mode. The device can also digitally zoom with better-than-before image quality, which is one of the reasons why users would be reluctant to get the non-Pro models. Camera Control and Action Button Apple introduced a new Camera Control button on the side of the device, which is also available on the iPhone 16 Pro, and this is the first time the company has introduced a novel functionality on models on both variants of the iPhone. Last year, the company introduced the Action Button for the 'Pro' models only, but this time around, the standard iPhone 16 also received the Action Button, which means that it is just as capable as the 'Pro' models. Performance And Connectivity All models of the iPhone 16 feature WiFi 7 technology for faster download speeds along with the same Bluetooth technology as part of its connectivity upgrade. Other than this, the A18 chip in the iPhone 16 features negligible performance difference from the A18 Pro chip, which means that the device will be perfectly capable of handling the same thing as the 'Pro' models. To top it off, the company has also streamlined the RAM count this year, with each model in the lineup running 8GB instead of 6GB RAM. Apple Intelligence Apple Intelligence is the company's latest offering for the iPhone and a handful of additional devices, and it has been part of the biggest update that the iPhone has ever received. You would be glad to know that the iPhone 16 comes with all the bells and whistles of the 'Pro' models. It is also the novel functionality that you should try this year, and for better, the experience will remain the same, even with the standard models. If you want to get your hands on the new AI features, you no longer have to spend more to get more. These are some of the features and aspects of the iPhone 16 that make it a better upgrade than the iPhone 16 Pro models. If you have an iPhone 15 Pro, you can simply wait for the iPhone 17 lineup, which will come with major changes onboard in terms of design, especially the iPhone 17 Air model. We can clearly see that the iPhone 16 is a much bigger upgrade than the 'Pro' models this year, and it might be worth upgrading to as you save your precious dough. We will conduct more comparisons soon, so do stick around for more.

iPhone 16 vs iPhone 16: Specs Compared
The iPhone 16 and iPhone 15 are two of Apple's most popular smartphones, offering a range of features and capabilities to suit different user needs and preferences. While both models share many similarities, the iPhone 16 introduces several notable upgrades that set it apart from its predecessor. In the video below, Matt Talks Tech takes an in-depth look at the key differences between the iPhone 16 and iPhone 15, comparing their specs, features, and overall performance to help you make an informed decision when choosing between the two. One of the most important aspects of any smartphone is its display, and both the iPhone 16 and iPhone 15 excel in this area. The two models feature an OLED XDR display, which delivers vibrant colors, deep blacks, and excellent contrast. With a screen size of 6.1 inches and a resolution of 2556 x 1179 pixels, both phones offer a pixel density of 460 PPI, ensuring sharp and detailed visuals. The displays also support a refresh rate of 60 Hz, providing smooth scrolling and fluid animations. Under the hood, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 15 are powered by Apple's advanced A-series chips. The iPhone 16 features the A18 chip, while the iPhone 15 is equipped with the A16 chip. Both chips have a 6-core CPU, 5-core GPU, and a 16-core neural engine, allowing efficient multitasking, smooth graphics rendering, and intelligent features. However, the A18 chip in the iPhone 16 offers a significant performance boost, being 30-35% faster and more energy-efficient compared to the A16 chip. This means that the iPhone 16 can handle demanding tasks and apps with ease, while also optimizing battery life. When it comes to memory and storage, the iPhone 16 has a slight edge over the iPhone 15. The iPhone 16 comes with 8 GB of RAM, compared to the 6 GB of RAM in the iPhone 15. This extra memory allows for smoother multitasking and better performance when running multiple apps simultaneously. In terms of storage, both models offer options of 128 GB, 256 GB, and 512 GB, providing ample space for your apps, photos, videos, and other files. Battery life is a crucial factor for many smartphone users, and the iPhone 16 delivers improvements in this area. With a larger battery capacity of 3561 mAh compared to the 3349 mAh in the iPhone 15, the iPhone 16 offers up to 22 hours of battery life, while the iPhone 15 provides up to 20 hours. This means you can use your iPhone 16 for longer periods without worrying about running out of power. In addition to the increased battery capacity, the iPhone 16 also supports faster charging speeds. It can handle up to 45W wired charging and 25W MagSafe wireless charging, compared to the 27W wired charging and 15W wireless charging capabilities of the iPhone 15. This means you can charge your iPhone 16 more quickly, whether you're using a wired or wireless charger. Both the iPhone 16 and iPhone 15 run on Apple's latest operating system, iOS 18, which offers a range of new features, improved performance, and enhanced security. However, the iPhone 16 is expected to receive software updates for a longer period, with support lasting for 7-8 years, compared to 5-6 years for the iPhone 15. This extended support ensures that your iPhone 16 will stay up to date with the latest features, bug fixes, and security patches, keeping your device running smoothly and securely for years to come. In terms of connectivity, both the iPhone 16 and iPhone 15 support Bluetooth 5.3, allowing for seamless pairing with wireless accessories and efficient data transfer. However, the new iPhone takes wireless connectivity to the next level with support for Wi-Fi 7, the latest and fastest Wi-Fi standard. In comparison, the iPhone 15 supports Wi-Fi 6, which is still fast but not as advanced as Wi-Fi 7. With Wi-Fi 7, the iPhone 16 can achieve faster internet speeds, lower latency, and more reliable connections, enhancing your overall browsing and streaming experience. For photography enthusiasts and casual users alike, the camera system is an essential aspect of any smartphone. Both the iPhone 16 and iPhone 15 feature impressive camera setups that deliver high-quality photos and videos. The two models are equipped with a 48 MP main camera and a 12 MP ultra-wide camera on the rear, allowing you to capture stunning images with excellent detail and dynamic range. The front-facing camera on both models is a 12 MP sensor capable of recording 4K video, making them ideal for selfies and video calls. While the camera hardware is similar between the two models, the iPhone 16 benefits from advanced computational photography features and improved image processing algorithms, thanks to the A18 chip and updated software. This means that the iPhone 16 can produce even better photos and videos, with enhanced low-light performance, more accurate colors, and better overall image quality. The iPhone 16 introduces several new features and enhancements that set it apart from the iPhone 15. One of the most notable additions is the inclusion of advanced Apple intelligence features, which leverage machine learning and AI capabilities to provide a more personalized and intuitive user experience. These features can include improved voice recognition, more accurate suggestions and recommendations, and enhanced privacy and security measures. Both the iPhone 16 and iPhone 15 come with stereo speakers that deliver immersive and high-quality audio, whether you're listening to music, watching videos, or playing games. The two models are also IP68 water-resistant, meaning they can withstand accidental splashes, spills, and even brief submersion in water, ensuring durability and peace of mind. When it comes to pricing, the new iPhone starts at $799 for the 128 GB model, while the iPhone 15 is now available at a lower price of $699. Although the iPhone 16 has a higher price tag, it offers a range of improvements and new features that justify the additional cost. With its faster performance, longer battery life, faster charging capabilities, advanced connectivity, and enhanced camera features, the iPhone 16 provides a more future-proof and premium experience compared to the iPhone 15. Ultimately, the choice between the iPhone 16 and iPhone 15 depends on your specific needs, preferences, and budget. If you're looking for the latest and greatest features, the best performance, and longer software support, the iPhone 16 is the clear choice. However, if you're on a tighter budget or don't require the most innovative features, the iPhone 15 still offers a solid and reliable smartphone experience at a more affordable price point. In conclusion, the new iPhone represents a significant step forward in terms of performance, features, and overall user experience compared to the iPhone 15. With its powerful A18 chip, longer battery life, faster-charging capabilities, advanced connectivity, and enhanced camera features, the iPhone 16 is an excellent choice for users who want the latest and greatest technology in their smartphone. However, the iPhone 15 remains a solid and reliable option for those who prioritize affordability and don't require the most innovative features. By carefully considering your needs and budget, you can make an informed decision between these two impressive smartphones and choose the one that best suits your lifestyle and preferences.
