Hands On With MSI's MEG Vision X AI PC: Now, Your Desktop Tower's a Monitor, Too
I'm one of the consumer PC experts at PCMag, with a particular love for PC gaming. I've played games on my computer for as long as I can remember, which eventually (as it does for many) led me to building and upgrading my own desktop. Through my years here, I've tested and reviewed many, many dozens of laptops and desktops, and I am always happy to recommend a PC for your needs and budget. LAS VEGAS--At CES 2025, we have been covering a vast fleet of laptops and desktops packing the very latest components, but we're seeing a lot of familiar, last-year designs, just refreshed with new innards. MSI brought along one of the few desktop PCs with a wholly original look: its MEG Vision X AI 2nd gaming desktop. This tower certainly has some interesting features inside the box. But its main draw is a full-size vertical screen on the front panel. We first saw this PC as a prototype (surrounded, mind you, by a mob every time we visited it) back at Computex 2024, and it's resurfaced as a fully functional, release-ready PC. The Vision X AI 2nd features Intel's "Arrow Lake" 200S processors (that's what the "2nd" is all about, given this is, er, only the first instance of this PC), Nvidia graphics, liquid cooling, and some nifty interior-cleanup features. The Vision X will launch in Q2 of this year, with pricing and more specific availability details to come later. Watch the video above for a quick tour of the system, and read for our impressions and more information below. An Extra Display Right Inside Your Tower This is a substantial tower, and its size serves the functional purpose of making the front-panel display tall and wide enough to be useful; a narrower case would diminish the point and impact of the screen. The case's full HD touch display runs down nearly the entire front of the chassis. It's approximately 13.3 inches and resembles a big, glossy laptop screen turned on end. In my poking and prodding, it was highly responsive, and, even though full HD is a little low-res these days, it's perfectly fine for the panel size and what it is, and it looks brilliant with the glossy finish MSI applied. We've seen a handful of side-panel screens over the years in exotic towers and mods, but big screens are less common, still, on the front of the system. Your desk layout will have to be arranged just the right way for you to see the screen clearly, but if you can make it work, there are several potential use cases. You can use the screen in the obvious ways as a second monitor, extended from your Windows desktop. Or you can use software to deploy a cool touch UI, placing app shortcuts there, displaying hardware monitoring data, or otherwise customizing it to your liking. The "AI" in the name of the system hints at the NPU-equipped Arrow Lake CPU inside, but it's also a sop to the AI functionality of this system. It's equipped with an integrated mic, and you can give your system commands and request functions (say, to open a certain control panel or tweak a certain setting) and have the front panel reflect your wishes. 'Arrow Lake S' Computation, and Project Zero Inspiration The glorious front panel is clearly the main attraction of the Vision X, but it's not the only feature of note. Inside, you'll find Intel's Arrow Lake 200S processors -- running up to the Core Ultra 9 285K chip and Nvidia graphics. (At the time we looked at the machine, it was running a GeForce RTX 40-series graphics card, but RTX 50 series will be in the offing by the time this PC launches.) Also of interest is the proprietary motherboard, which MSI designed, inspired by its Project Zero initiative. The Project Zero ecosystem, which debuted at last Computex, features boards and PC-case layouts designed to hide and minimize as many cables and connectors as possible. The aim is to deliver a clean final look for your PC's interior, particularly where towers have a large clear side window like this one. MSI tells us this is not technically a Project Zero-compliant board (it doesn't comply with a standard form factor), but it's designed with similar intentions for this case. Otherwise, the Vision X AI 2nd is the high-end gaming PC you would expect, with liquid CPU cooling, support for multiple SSDs, Wi-Fi 7, and some flashy system lighting. The design includes independent air chambers and SSD temperature monitoring. As you may have been starting to suspect, none of this will come cheap. MSI is still nailing down the final details, since it's set to launch in Q2. Still, the representatives provided us with a rough estimate of $4,000-plus for fully loaded versions of this tower, depending on the exact configuration. When units become available for review, we'll circle back with far more hands-on time and testing. For now, start thinking of the best uses for that built-in second screen--and where you'll put the Vision X to maximize the view.

MSI's new MEG VISION X AI Gaming PC: 13-inch AI touchscreen on front, RTX 50 series GPUs
MSI unveiled quite the new desktop gaming PC at CES 2025 with the introduction of the new MEG VISION X AI, which features powerful components from Intel and NVIDIA, but a deliciously huge 13-inch AI touchscreen on the front. Check it out: Inside, the new MSI MEG VISION X AI desktop gaming PC features up to Intel's new Core Ultra 9 285K processor with 8 cores and 16 threads that boost at up to 5.7GHz, and NVIDIA's new GeForce RTX 50 series GPUs. There's support for up to 128GB of DDR5-5600 memory, and support for Gen5 SSDs with up to 12GB/sec (12,000MB/sec) read speeds (1 x Gen 5 and 2 x Gen4 SSD slots). MSI keeps the high-end Core Ultra 9 285K processor nice and chill with its in-house 360mm AIO liquid cooler, with Silent Storm Cooling AI technology optimizing airflow by adjusting fan speeds using AI algorithms. The gigantic 13-inch AI HMI touchscreen provides intuitive operation, syncing with MSI AI apps for enhanced AI functionality. There's also a dedicated app for the touchscreen, as well as built-in speakers and a microphone. The company has also used "Glacier Armor" with heatsinks on the RAM, SSD, PCH, and VRMs to improve thermal efficiency. It wouldn't be a new MSI gaming PC without Mystic Light RGB LEDs that you can tweak, to give your new MEG VISION X AI desktop gaming PC your personal touch.

MSI's spangly MEG Vision X AI desktop PC is just the ticket for anyone wanting to recreate that Scotty scene in Star Trek IV
'Hello, computer? Why is everything all AI? I just want transparent aluminum.' The OEM desktop PC market is a tough one to stand out in and erstwhile PC mega manufacturer MSI has been trying for years with all kinds of designs, to little success. But at CES 2025, it showcased what it claims to be the ultimate desktop PC -- sorry, Ultimate AI Gaming Desktop -- in the form of the MEG Vision X AI, replete with countless AI features and a huge, voice-activated touchscreen. I first saw this model in October of last year during MSI's Shenzhen factory tour. Other than now sporting one of Nvidia's new RTX 50-series graphics cards, the overall design and specs haven't changed. You get an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K in all variants, but the exact model of GPU, amount of RAM, and storage will depend on how much cash you want to hand over. I've not seen any prices yet but given that MSI's top-end desktop PCs are all extremely expensive, you can be certain that this one will be too. To help you part from your hard-earned money, the feature that will certainly grab your attention is the 13.3-inch IPS touchscreen on the front panel. Its specs aren't super high-end -- 1080p resolution, 60 Hz refresh rate -- but it looks better in real life than it does in pictures. I found it very easy to use, being fast and responsive to touch. Not that MSI really wants you to be poking it for everything because the screen's big party piece is voice control. Thanks to its built-in microphone and speakers, as well as MSI's ubiquitous AI software, one should be able to yell all kinds of commands at it and get the desired response. I wasn't able to test it when I used it (the feature wasn't available at the time and I was far more interested in playing around with its Arrow Lake chip) but if it works properly, then it could be kinda neat. "Show me GPU temperatures," for example. "What's the weather like tomorrow? How do I make transparent aluminum?" Yes, indeed. Forget the RTX 50-series GPU and all its AI-powered wizardry. Forget the Core Ultra 9 285K (which won't be hard). Now you can have a pre-built desktop gaming PC that you can fully relive that Scotty scene in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home. The MEG Vision X AI is anything but quaint, though. I have to say that while MSI's design is by far one of the better ones it has created in recent years, the sheer amount of AI-in-your-face rather puts me off. Do you really need your gaming PC's lighting, fans, and power settings controlled by AI? Surely the normal software that we already have does the job just fine. One can ignore it all, thankfully, but then what are you left with? Minus all the AI stuff, the MEG Vision X is just a fairly normal gaming PC with a touchscreen. Still, the design is rather nice and the quality is genuinely top-notch. And I kinda like the idea of yelling at a computer to do things. Wait, I already do that. I guess the difference is that the MSI MEG Vision X AI might actually do something rather than mine all just sitting there pretending to ignore me.

MSI's New Gaming PC Has a Screen On The Case
Many gaming PC owners (or potential owners) would prefer to build their own systems, but MSI is hoping you'll reconsider with a unique feature: a giant touchscreen on the front of its new prebuilt gaming PC. MSI has announced the MEG VISION X AI 2nd prebuilt gaming desktop. This is your standard, run-of-the-mill prebuilt gaming PC in a lot of ways, except you get a few things that, while gimmicky, aren't really easily achievable in a regular PC you build with your own sweat and tears. The most notable one is the addition of a 13-inch touchscreen. This FHD touchscreen integrates with the MSI AI app and voice interaction, allowing users to adjust performance settings and access various AI-powered widgets. The display can also function as a secondary screen if you want it to. ✕ Remove Ads MSI puts a lot of emphasis on the fact that this screen will have some AI settings, and we don't know how that will look like or if they'll even be useful (remember that we're in the age where all companies will put gimmicky AI "features" on their hardware and software to earn easy, low-hanging investor points). But the fact that there's a whole screen built into this desktop PC already makes it pretty unique among its competition. As we mentioned, you also have the option to use it as a second screen if you want to, although we don't know how well that will work unless you have your monitor right alongside your computer. Under the hood, the system boasts Intel's Core Ultra 9 processor 285K. It supports four DDR5 UDIMM slots for smooth operation as well as NVMe SSDs compatible with PCIe 5.0. It also features NVIDIA's latest RTX 5000-series cards. MSI didn't disclose pricing or availability info about this computer, but you can keep an eye on MSI's online store to know more.
