Your Notion plan might cost more soon, but its AI features could be worth the extra cost
In the past three years or so, we've noticed two trends emerge across nearly every industry: the integration of AI into existing products and the prices for plans and services shooting right up. You may have noticed that many services are integrating AI simply to keep up with the competition, and the so-called AI features often end up being... nothing but a disappointment. While it's hard to find a service that creates and adds genuinely useful AI tools, they certainly exist. One of those services is Notion, the all-in-one productivity tool. Today, Notion announced impressive new AI features, which they've been testing with a limited group of users over the past few weeks. Unfortunately, Notion also updated its pricing for new subscriptions. Fortunately, these AI tools could very well make the extra cost worthwhile. Notion AI for Work can take meeting notes for you and help you search smarter Today, Notion announced Notion AI for Work via a blog post, aiming to be an "all-in-one AI toolkit" that's accessible right within the Notion workspace you love and use every day. Whether you're someone who spends more time in meetings than actually working at work or someone who attends meetings only every now and then, you know how quickly intricate details and action items can slip through the cracks. Meeting notes are nothing but a lifesaver in such situations, but jotting them down as you host or attend a meeting can be a challenge. This is exactly the kind of task that AI can automate, and Notion's new AI Meeting Notes feature lets you do that right within your workspace. The tool can transcribe your meeting, summarize it, and highlight the action items for you. All you need to do is add the /meeting block into your Notion meeting templates. If you ditched Google Calendar for Notion, meeting notifications you receive will include an option to automatically start an AI Meeting Note page once your meeting begins. Notion AI for Work is also bringing a feature called Enterprise Search, which makes searching for information that much easier. If your work is spread across multiple apps like Slack, Gmail, Google Drive, Jira, and GitHub, instead of relying on your memory and hopping between apps trying to find something, you can simply ask Enterprise Search for whatever you're looking for. For instance, Notion's blog post demonstrated this with an example of asking, "What's the latest on our upcoming brand campaign?" Notion AI will then search your workspace as well as third-party apps connected to Notion to find an answer for you. Notion mentioned that other integrations like Linear, Gmail, Zendesk, Box, and Salesforce are on the way. Like a lot of other tools, Notion AI for Work is also getting Research Mode, which can "auto-draft detailed, beautiful docs." The best part is that this mode integrates with Enterprise Search, and once it finds the information it needs by searching through your Notion workspace and connected apps, it can create a shareable doc out of it. Notion AI for Work also comes bundled with some of the best AI models right within your workspace's Home page, including OpenAI GPT-4.1 and Anthropic Claude 3.7. The best part? Instead of needing to subscribe to different AI services for note-taking, searching, writing, and translation, Notion AI for Work gets you access to them all. Rather than paying over $300 for individual tools, you can get all of the above for less than $30 per user per month. Research Mode and AI Notes should already be available on your workspace, and Enterprise Search is currently rolling out. Like other Notion AI features, you'll be able to use these new features in a limited capacity in your free plan. As mentioned earlier, these changes mean that Notion is updating its pricing, which goes into effect today for new subscriptions. You can check out Notion's pricing page for more details.

Notion AI can transcribe conversations and write reports, but it'll cost you
The company's AI features are now part of its $30 per month Business plan. Notion is coming for Otter.ai. On Tuesday, the company announced an update for Notion AI, the suite of generative AI features available through its popular note-taking app. Among the new tools included in the package is AI Meeting Notes, a feature that can transcribe and summarize any conversation directly within Notion. No need to turn to dedicated software like the aforementioned Otter.ai. If you use Notion Calendar, your meeting notifications will include the option to start an AI Meeting Note page. Alternatively, you can write "/meeting" to add a transcription block to an existing note. Any conversation Notion AI transcribes for you is searchable through the app, and you can add what you get to any of your projects. Speaking of search, you can now use Notion AI to comb through a number of different productivity apps, including Slack, Google Workspace and Github. As long as you've connected those platforms to Notion, the app can resolve natural language queries, like, "What's the latest on our upcoming brand campaign?" and sort results by source. Separately, Notion is adding a Research Mode. Similar to Deep Research modes from Google and OpenAI, you can ask Notion's built-in AI to write reports for you. The difference here being that Notion AI will pull information from your projects, in addition to what it finds online. The company is pitching this as a real time-saver. "Create project updates, research reports, and internal best practices in minutes with one prompt," Notion says. "We've already seen this save days worth of time." Last but not least, if you would rather prompt with GPT-4.1 or Claude 3.7 than Notion's own chatbot, you can now do that directly within the app courtesy of a new model picker. OpenAI and Anthropic's models won't have access to your workspace data, but they're there for users who prefer their responses for general questions and in case you want to turn to a reasoning system in the form of Claude 3.7 Sonnet. As part of today's announcement, Notion is changing how it bills for its AI features. Instead of a separate $10 per month plan, unlimited access to Notion AI is now part of the company's Business plan, which is increasing from $15 per month and per member to $30 per month and per member. Notion's justification for the increase is that it's giving users access to several different tools, including GPT-4.1 and Claude 3.7, for the price of an all-in-one package. Of course, it's not quite a one-to-one comparison. For example, if you decide to skip out on ChatGPT Plus, you miss out on expanded limits on Advanced Voice mode and Deep Research. Still, for Notion users that might be a tradeoff well worth making. If you're a current Notion AI subscriber, you'll keep access to all the AI features you had before today's announcement. For Free and Plus users, you get limited trial access to all the new features.

Notion's new 'AI toolkit' is a game changer for productivity - here's what it can do
While we're always hearing about the latest from ChatGPT and Gemini, Notion AI feels like it sometimes flies a little under the radar. The company's own LLM offering is baked into its open-ended application and its more recent Notion Calendar and Notion Mail apps, and it has continued to invest in it. Now, the company is promising it'll get twice as powerful with a "new toolkit of AI capabilities integrated throughout your workspace" with its new Notion AI for work. Here's all you need to know. Today, Notion has announced that it will roll out a new set of API capabilities to make the app more useful for teams that rely on it. The app ecosystem, which already combines documents, projects, calendar, and email, will gain new AI functionality that will make it easier to adopt artificial intelligence into day-to-day responsibilities and workflows. Notion says it's aiming to do this in four different ways, with the first being AI Meeting Notes, which lets users capture and summarise their calls and store them in Notion. Transcriptions are searchable with AI, and you can start with the /meeting block within Notion. Up next is Enterprise Search, which will let users search within Notion using AI to find information from Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Gmail, Box, Salesforce, Zendesk, and Linear, as well as databases and PDFs. The feature was teased last week by Akshay Kothari, one of Notion's co-founders. It wouldn't be AI without a Research Mode, and this one can auto-draft documents using information from any source or the web to put together more detailed analyses than you might get otherwise. Both this and the AI meeting notes will be in beta testing when released. Finally, Notion will now offer the chance to use ChatGPT or Claude from within Notion, with no additional fee. The company is keen to point out that a combination of the tools it offers can rack up to hundreds of dollars each month, but that the all-in-one pricing on offer here is $30 per month.
