Like most new releases, both phones are built around Nubia's "AI+" product strategy, which aims to enhance user experiences with AI-backed functions and features. Nubia's mid-year refresh for the Z60 Ultra is here with an overclocked Snapdragon 8 Gen 3
I'm so desperate for a small smartphone that I'm helping crowdfund one Summary Nubia Z60S Pro offers AI photography, 1.5K AMOLED screen, and Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for $570-$770. Pre-order now. Nubia Z60 Ultra Leading Version is a $50 upgrade with overclocked Snapdragon chip for enhanced AI benefits at $650-$880. Both Nubia smartphones offer impressive specs and improvements, with recommended use on T-Mobile network in the US. Nubia may not be a household name, but thanks to the fact is opened itself to the US market this year, we've already seen a handful of impressive devices from the company, including the very affordable Flip 5G (that I reviewed and enjoyed), along with the impressive Z60 Ultra that's very reminiscent to the well-reviewed Redmagic 9 Pro (Redmagic is a sub-brand of Nubia). That's all to say, despite Nubia being a new player in our market under the main company branding, it's been busy this year launching some quality smartphones, and today, it has two more to add to the stable in the US, with pre-orders open now. Nubia Z60S Pro For all you camera nuts out there Close First we have the Nubia Z60S Pro, which is a fresh device, not a refresh, and features fancy AI photography offering 35mm custom optics made possible by Sony's 50MP 9 Series sensor. So expect to see Magic Eraser functionality. You also get a 1.5K super retina-grade AMOLED screen and a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. There are three color choices, with black, aqua, and white (pictured above), with the price starting at $570 for 12GB RAM and 256 storage, and if you want to bump things up to 16GB RAM and more storage, things top out with the 1TB model at $770. You can see all the options here on the pre-order page. Nubia Z60 Ultra Leading Version A welcome mid-year refresh for $50 over the original Source: Nubia Next, we have the Nubia Z60 Ultra Leading Version, which is basically a mid-year refresh of the phone from earlier this year. It is now packing an overclocked Snapdragon that offers the overhead for local AI functionality. So, just like the Redmagic 9S Pro Leading Version I recently reviewed, the Nubia Z60 Ultra Leading Version brings a few upgrades, such as an AI feature that can help eke out even more battery life out of the phone's 6000mAh. We enjoyed the original despite a few small issues with its software, and I see no reason why this mid-year refresh will be different; starting at $650, the hardware you get is a steal. And if you need more than the base 8GB RAM and 256 storage, prices range up to $880 topping out at 1TB storage and 16GB RAM. There are two color options, black and silver (silver pictured above). Just keep in mind, like all Nubia and Redmagic devices, we recommend using the T-Mobile network in the US, as the phone may not work elsewhere thanks to its radios. Nubia Z60 Ultra Leading Version The Nubia Z60 Ultra Leading Version takes everything we love about the Z60 Ultra and adds an overclocked Snapdragon chip for extra onboard AI benefits. You'll pay a $50 premium over the previous model, but the overclocked chip is worth it if you need a little more oomph and wish to play with AI. $650 at Nubia

This is limited to the Chinese market. The exterior design incorporates a unique star ring element integrated into the lens module, creating a distinctive aesthetic. Additionally, it showcases nubia's exclusive 'Coronet' seal engraved with 'Be yourself' and is available in three colors: Black, Aqua, and White. A new Android phone just gave the Galaxy S24 Ultra tough competition | Digital Trends
The Galaxy S24 Ultra is this year's Samsung flagship and device that Digital Trends rated highly in its review, calling it "the best Ultra ever, and a must buy." This is high praise, but ZTE's sub-brand Nubia has set Samsung in its sights with the Nubia Z60 Ultra "Leading Version" and the Z60S Pro, a slightly pared-down but even more affordable model. The name is unusual, but taking a peek under the hood, we're looking at a competent phone with solid specs at a reasonable price point that's almost certain to give Samsung a run for its money in the Chinese market. You get a 6.8-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. This is the same size as the S24 Ultra panel, though lower than the 1440p resolution. Impressively, its 16-megapixel selfie camera lives under the screen, which tends to be a premium feature you won't get on more affordable phones. Speaking of cameras, the rear cameras are no slouches either. There's a triple array consisting of a 50MP Sony IMX800 primary sensor, a 50MP ultrawide sensor, and a 64MP periscope zoom lens. On paper, these compare favorably with the 200MP wide, 12MP ultrawide, and 10MP and 50MP telephoto zoom lenses on the S24 Ultra, even though it has one less camera sensor. Naturally, with AI being all the craze, Nubia is implementing the "NeoVision AI" processing for the camera system as part of its "AI+" product strategy, which attempts to implement AI functions and features to improve user experience. In this case, the idea allows for better images via AI enhancement, allowing the Leading Version to outshoot the regular Z60 Ultra. This isn't much of a different idea from Samsung's Galaxy AI implementation or Apple Intelligence. Recommended Videos Regarding hardware, the Nubia Z60 Ultra has a modified "Leading Version" of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, the same as the S24 Ultra. Clock speeds are boosted to 3.4 GHz on the Cortex-X4 CPU and 1 GHz on the GPU. Configuration options include 8GB, 12GB, and 16GB RAM with storage options of 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB. The battery size is an impressive 6,000mAh with 80W wired fast charging. The entire phone is also IP68 water- and dust-resistant. Meanwhile, the Z60S Pro is the lesser sibling, with an older Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, 16GB RAM, and 1TB internal storage. That should still give it a very capable performance, putting it on par with last year's Galaxy S23 Ultra. The phone has a smaller 5,100mAh battery (still larger than the S24 Ultra) and also supports 80W wired charging. Price is the killer feature here, with the Z60 Ultra Leading Version starting at $649, while the Z60S Pro comes in at $569. This is a far cry from the S24 Ultra, which can run you as much as $1,300 for the base model. Both phones are now available for preorder, with a global launch expected on August 12, 2024. That said, we wouldn't hold your breath for availability in the U.S. market.
