GSC Game World affirms planned S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl changes for Q2 2025
All as part of its effort to make the game the one "we imagined -- and you deserve." Developer GSC Game World has been working around the clock to consistently improve S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl ever since its arrival at the end of 2024. The launch was hampered by various performance issues and bugs, but many overlooked these and gave the studio a bit of leeway considering the struggles it has faced over the past few years, due to the ongoing conflict in its home country of Ukraine. This hasn't stopped GSC Game World from wanting to better the game, and this is precisely what we can expect in the second quarter of 2025. In the spirit of transparency, the developer has now revealed what it intends to adjust in the game over the next few months. We can expect A-Life and AI updates, mutant loot, wide-screen aspect ratio support, new weapons, stash window increase, beta mod SDK kits, and even a "next-gen" update for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Original Trilogy. This is of course on top of various stabilisation, optimisation, and bug fixes. The full slate of planned changes can be seen below, with GSC Game World explaining its ultimate plans for the game as follows:

STALKER 2 presents its roadmap with one of the additions that the community has been requesting for months - Softonic
GSC Game World has presented its roadmap for the second quarter of 2025, following several months of significant patches that have improved the experience of Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl since its release in November. The developer has emphasized its commitment to continue polishing the game and looking forward to new additions aimed at enriching the player experience in the dangerous Zone. One of the most notable new features is the rollout of a closed beta for the official modding kit for Stalker 2, which includes support for integration with Mod.io and Steam Workshop. GSC Game World wants to invite modders to participate before releasing the full SDK and a guide for creating mods, thus expanding the creativity of the community around the game. The remarkable A-Life system of Stalker 2, which simulates NPC behaviors and events in the world, will receive enhancements to provide greater depth and realism. Since the release date, A-Life has required adjustments, and the developer plans to continue optimizing it along with the combat AI, which will allow for better tactics for human NPCs. In addition, regarding the terrifying mutants that inhabit the Zone, it has been confirmed that they will be able to react to threats and consume corpses, adding a new level of interaction. It is also expected that in the future they will drop loot, thus balancing the horror and reward of the game. The roadmap also includes the addition of two new weapons, an improvement in the storage window, stability optimization, and an option to skip shader compilation at game startup. GSC Game World has announced that it will provide quarterly updates to keep the community informed about any changes and progress in development, and has warned that mission objectives may be rescheduled in case of instability in the Zone.
