How to Preorder the PS5 Pro (Before a Scalper Bot Does)
We're barely done with the years-long period where it was almost impossible to get your hands on a PlayStation 5, and now Sony is launching the PlayStation 5 Pro. It has a more powerful graphics processor, better AI upscaling, and tons more storage, with a higher price to match. If you want to get your hands on one when it launches, though, it might take some effort. It's no secret at this point that scalpers are, metaphorically, armed to the teeth with tools that can snag dozens of PS5s before you can click the Buy button on one. There's little reason to expect this new console launch will be any different. (Even if the $700 price makes it one of the most expensive consoles of all time.) Still, there are things you can do to improve your odds of nabbing one of these consoles. And while you're at it, check out our Best PS5 Accessories and Best PS5 Games guides for more. The PlayStation Direct website will get first dibs, followed by other retailers a couple of weeks later. Here are all of the important dates: The PS5 Pro is $700 for the disc-less version. If you want to add a disc drive, it's a separate purchase. You can read more about the differences between all the PS5 models here. Unfortunately, there's no way to guarantee that you'll be able to get a console, even if you're at your computer the minute sales go live. But there are things you can do to increase your odds:

How to Preorder the PS5 Pro
It about two weeks since Sony finally unveiled the PS5 Pro, and all the processing power advancements that will come with it. In that short period of time, the console is now available for preorder, as are the bundles for the Anniversary editions -- assuming Sony makes more of the latter. Unfortunately for any fans of the aesthetics of the PSOne, Sony's Anniversary products are all currently sold out. That includes the bundle for the PS5 Pro Anniversary edition, the bundle for the PS5 Digital Edition Slim Anniversary console, the DualSense Edge Anniversary edition, and the PlayStation Portal anniversary edition. All of these products sport a dark gray look with colorful buttons, in the style of the original PlayStation console. And all of these products have already been claimed by enthusiastic Sony fans. To be clear, these are all the exact same products as their counterparts: The PS5 Slim Anniversary edition is no different than the standard model, while the Anniversary edition DualSense Edge controller works the same as the regular one. However, the console bundle does come with some fun accessories, like a charging cable that makes the controller's plug look like it's from the PSOne. But it plays the same games as the standard PlayStation 5, so if you don't care for the aesthetic changes, that's all that's really new here. While you wait for Sony to potentially make more of these products available, you can still preorder the new PS5 Pro. Sony hasn't made any official specs available yet, but during its announcement video, the company said the new console has a upgraded GPU that can run more games at 4K 60 fps, with more ray-tracing effects. The Pro also takes advantage of something called PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution), which uses AI to upscale the images in your games. Existing titles that are optimized for the console include Alan Wake 2, Assassin's Creed: Shadows, Demon's Souls, Dragon's Dogma 2, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Gran Turismo 7, Hogwarts Legacy, Horizon Forbidden West, Marvel's Spider-Man 2, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, The Crew Motorfest, The First Descendant, and The Last of Us Part II Remastered. It won't come cheap, though. The PS5 Pro costs $699.99, $200 more than the PS5 Slim. The latter actually comes with a disc drive and a stand, things you need to buy for the Pro if you want to play physical media or, you know, stand the console up. The disc drive is $79.99, while the stand is $29.99, so you're looking at $809.97 for the whole deal. That's an expensive console. If you want to play PS5 games at their highest resolution, the Pro is the way to go. Still, games do look good on the standard PS5, and you can buy one without having to wait until the PS5 Pro's Nov. 7 release date.

So, if you want to have one in time for the holiday season, you'd better take advantage of this preorder opportunity. Inventory is and will continue to be very limited throughout the holiday season. The price of the PS5 Pro is $700. At the moment, the Sony website has a virtual waiting room with more than a one hour wait to place a preorder. To preorder the PS5 Pro directly from Sony, you'll need a free PSN account to sign in, but you can also preorder directly from Best Buy, too. Using advanced AI, the PS5 Pro will offer enhanced 4K resolution, showcasing incredible detail as players delve into their favorite games. The system supports 4K TVs and monitors with a 60Hz or 120Hz refresh rate and also provides advanced ray tracing to better showcase shadows, reflections and other visual nuances, while offering even smoother and more fluid on-screen action. The PS5 Pro is equipped with a whopping 2TB of storage and provides enhanced wireless connectivity. And of course, the DualSense wireless controller adds to the immersive quality of games with haptic feedback, adaptive triggers and more. If you happen to have an 8K resolution TV or monitor, you're in luck -- the PS5 Pro now offers full compatibility via an HDMI 2.1 port. While the PS5 will run all PS4 and PS5 titles, a handful of specially optimized PS5 Pro games are on the way, including hits like "The Last of Us Part I," "The Last of Us Part II," "Demon's Souls," "Gran Turismo 7," "Horizon Forbidden West," "Until Dawn" and many more.

Where to preorder the PS5 Pro and PlayStation's 30th anniversary collection
PlayStation's 30th anniversary PS5 and PS5 Pro are delightfully retro The main prospect of the PS5 Pro is improved graphics and performance. The new console may lack a disc drive (you can get one for an additional $80), but its new GPU, AI upscaling, and better ray tracing promise a new level of fidelity for this console generation -- with the ability to maintain 4K resolution at 60fps across select titles. It may not be the most logical upgrade over a regular PS5 for everyone, but if you're hungry for the best performance on exclusives like Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, it may be the only way to achieve it (at least until Rebirth and other exclusives find their way to PC).
