Many AI video editing tools are stepping up against establish editors such as Adobe's Premiere Pro or ByteDance's CapCut app, but FlexClip stands out from the crowd. Here's why it's fast becoming my go-to browser-based video editing tool.

FlexClip incorporates both AI and traditional tools, including lineal video editing, pre-made templates, and a range of generative AI features. The AI image editing tools are also very helpful, and you can include the images in your videos after creating them.
FlexClip is a freemium tool with Plus and Business plans that offer access to more features, increased storage, and watermark removal.
Why I Like FlexClip
FlexClip provides a simple interface that is easy to navigate and learn. Being browser-based means it won't slow your computer system down by installing large software files, and it also offers cloud storage which prevents local storage issues.
You can connect to your FlexClip account from your computer browser or from a phone for on-the-go editing. You'll have access to its huge tool and template library, including the audio library -- similar to the YouTube audio library -- which is 100% royalty-free for use on videos published online. FlexClip even allows you to white-list your YouTube channel so nothing gets flagged once your videos get published.

FlexClip does offer a free version, which has limited features. I think this is great for helping people learn the tool and test it out before committing to the annual plan, at a reasonable price of $9.99 per month.
The free version allows for up to 12 projects with a 10-minute cap on the length. You can use one stock video and one stock audio per project, and you'll have access to a set limit of monthly AI credits. Unfortunately, free videos will export with a watermark.
My Favorite FlexClip Video Editing Features
FlexClip has an excellent variety of features to enhance your video editing. These are the ones I like best.

FlexClip offers both video and image templates. When choosing a template, you'll be provided multiple ratio options for different outputs, such as landscape, social media, and phone portrait videos. Having the templates already resized for different aspect ratios is a huge time-saver as opposed to resizing them yourself.
The video templates also come with audio, which you can choose to keep or remove when you edit your video.
Text Tools ✕ Remove Ads
FlexClip offers a variety of text tools. Whether you want basic static text to sit on top of your video, animated text for applying lower thirds to your videos, or subtitles -- which is a great accessibility feature -- FlexClip has you covered.
For static text, there's a big font library in the easy-to-navigate category menus. You can choose the font type, color, size, alignment, opacity, and even the animation state of the text. You can also use pre-designed animated text layouts by selecting the Text tool on the left. These text layouts are easily editable, too.
The Subtitles tab allows you to add subtitles and captions directly to your video in three different ways: AI Auto Subtitle tool, Manual Subtitle tool, or Upload Subtitle File to import subtitles.

The great thing about the subtitles in FlexClip is that they can be translated in the app. Using AI, you can also turn your written subtitles into speech, with a choice of realistic voices, styles, speeds, and pitches. Subtitles can also be edited for visual style like the other text features.
AI Video Tools
Not only can you create text-to-video, but you can also create a full video from an article URL with the article-to-video AI feature.
While your videos may end up with the "AI-tell" voice and timing, it is fully editable and customizable, so you can use this feature to save time and then customize it to add a human touch. FlexClip does this much better than other text-to-video tools I've tried.

The AI translator is also very impressive, not only in translating text but also speech -- and you can adapt the voices. This is a huge advancement in creating videos for various audiences globally.
The AI Video Script feature allows you to type a prompt for your video's script -- basically describing the video you've created or want to create -- and FlexClip provides a script you can use for narration or a voiceover. I always recommend self-editing any AI-generated text, especially for publishing something, but the AI tool is a good starting point rather than staring at a blank page.
There are always downsides to using AI text-to-video generators, so it might be worth adjusting your expectations.

In October 2024, FlexClip introduced new AI photo editing tools to its software. These tools include an AI Photo Colorizer for restoring colors in old or damaged photos, which goes hand-in-hand with the AI Old Photo Restoration tool, which can help repair damaged images too.

The AI Image Upscaler increases the size and quality of your photos, enhancing the resolution up to 4x the original size. There's also an AI Image Extender -- which works similarly to Photoshop's Generative Expand tool -- to extend the boundaries of your photo, improving composition.
Some AI tools are more just for fun, such as the AI Face Swap tool. The coolest image function in FlexClip is the AI Image to 3D Animation tool, offering depth and movement to previously flat images. You can then use those animations in the video editor.
For a browser-based tool that isn't from a major developer, FlexClip offers a lot for easy and professional video editing. The price model is good, and the AI tools are second to none, providing top-notch options for video and image editing all in one place.
