I went hands-on with every new Acer laptop from its 2025 lineup. Here's what stood out
Acer just announced a diverse lineup of new laptops with thin form factors, OLED displays, and powerful GPUs with Nvidia's Blackwell architecture. Acer just announced its new lineup of 2025 laptops, and we're seeing thin and light form factors, AI-readiness, OLED displays, and powerful hardware. In terms of hardware, Acer continues to court the field by including processors from all three major chipmakers: Intel, AMD, and Qualcomm. Also: I replaced my laptop with Microsoft's 12-inch Surface Pro - here's my buying advice a week later The new models, announced ahead of Computex 2025, also include the latest GPUs from Nvidia utilizing its Blackwell architecture, which feature significant advancements in AI capabilities as well as increased efficiency and power. There's a focus on creator-minded machines this year, particularly when it comes to bringing powerful AI capabilities to the GPU. I recently went hands-on with all of the models alongside ZDNET's Kerry Wan, and left with some exciting first impressions, especially with the Swift X 14 AI, the fist model I'll touch on. Let's jump in. Acer's new Swift X series consists of the Swift X 14, and the Swift X 14 AI, two sleek, creator-minded devices that come equipped with a host of premium features: Nvidia's new 5070 laptop GPUs, haptic touchpads, stylus support, and 3K OLED displays. Reflecting Acer's diverse product line, the difference between the two comes down to the processor on board: The Swift X 14 has Intel's Core Ultra 9285H, while the Swift X 14 AI has an AMD Ryzen AI 9 365. The latter has its "Zen 5" core architecture designed for heavy AI workloads, while the former is designed more for multitasking and battery efficiency. Also: This Acer laptop is unexpectedly one of the best work machines I've tested - and it's relatively affordable Both are poised to be powerful machines with up to 32GB of memory and 2TB of PCIe Gen 4 storage. Both also come equipped with Nvidia's GeForce RTX 5070 laptop GPUs with its Blackwell chip architecture, accommodating on-device rendering, modeling, and real-time visualization, with access to Nvidia's NIM Microservices for building AI agents and workflows. While seeing both of these laptops up close, I noted their very similar physical appearances. Both laptops weigh essentially the same, with the Swift X 14 AI coming in at 3.46 pounds and the Swift X 14 weighing 0.2 pounds more. They also both come in the same colorways: Aluminum and Titanium Gray, offering sleek, slightly industrial design. Although we don't have exact pricing available yet, they're both expected to be upper-mid-tier machines, less than $2,000. From Acer's lineup of ultraportables, we have the Swift Edge 14 AI and the Swift Go AI in a 14-inch and 16-inch form factor. These thin and light Copilot+ PCs feature Intel Core Ultra 200V series processors and 3K OLED displays, along with Acer's multi-control touchpad it debuted last year. These devices are set to compete against other thin and light devices with multi-day battery life like Asus' Zenbook A14 and Lenovo's ThinkPad X9 Aura Edition. The matte, all-white colorway on the Swift Edge 14 AI is slick, with gold line designs that contrast with the 16:10 WUXGA OLED display. Also: This budget Windows laptop easily replaced my M4 MacBook Air for one reason The Swift Edge 14 AI and Swift Go AI both scale up to 32GB of memory, support for Wi-Fi 7, robust I/O with two USB-C ports (Thunderbolt 4, DisplayPort, and charging) along with two USB-A, an HDMI port, headphone jack, and a MicroSD card reader (on the Swift Go 16 AI only). The onboard Intel Arc GPUs position them not as creator-first machines like their Swift X siblings, but more as forward-looking, lightweight machines for working professionals who commute, or business users who want to leave it untethered for the entire workday. We don't have confirmed pricing for the U.S. yet, but the Acer Swift Edge 14 AI will likely be starting around $1,699, whereas the Swift Go 14 and 16 will be around the $1,299 and $1,399 mark respectively. Acer's lineup of affordable laptops is refreshed with six new Copilot+ PCs in 14- and 16-inch form factors and a variety of configurations. The Aspire line represents a diverse range of laptops with affordability in mind, designed for students, families, and professionals. Acer continues its broad range of product offerings with options for the Aspire 14- and 16-inch AI from all three major chipmakers: All laptops in the Aspire family are upgraded for 2025 with support for Wi-Fi 7, up to 32GB of RAM, 1TB of storage, and 120Hz displays with optional touchscreens (but there are no 2-in-1 models). Also: Nvidia dominates in gen AI benchmarks, clobbering 2 rival AI chips Acer says all three models should get around 17 hours of battery time when it comes to web browsing, with up to 26 of video playback with the Intel chip, 18 with AMD's, and a reported whopping 28 hours with the base-level Snapdragon X processor with Qualcomm's Oryon CPU. Personally I'm looking forward to going hands-on with these laptops, as these are some rather confident numbers that are pushing the thin and light marathon battery category forward. In terms of weight, the 14-inch models are 2.7 pounds, where the 16-inch laptops run from 3.2 to 3.4 pounds. Lastly, Acer announced a handful of new laptops in its Predator line for gamers and creatives powered by Intel Core Ultra 7 and 9 processors and Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 GPUs powered by Blackwell architecture. The Predator Helios Neo 14 features a 2.8K OLED display with 120Hz that looks equally good for gamers and creators, combining a thin and portable form factor with a customizable RGB elements and Acer's vortex flow cooling system. The Predator Triton 14 AI is what Acer is calling a "creator's dream laptop", packed with high-end hardware in a lightweight, 3.5-pound chassis that's 0.68 inches thin. It also features a haptic touchpad made of Corning Gorilla Glass that pairs with a stylus to act as a drawing surface. Also: Upgrading your Windows laptop? This affordable Dell model is my top pick for work The Predator Triton 14 AI also sports an industry first with graphene thermal interface materials on the CPU that Acer says will provide superior heat mitigation with a 14.5% increase in thermal capacity. These devices will be available a little bit later than the previously mentioned laptops, likely not until summer. There are also no prices yet, but the Predator Triton 14 AI will likely be around $3,000, with the Predator Helios Neo 14 AI around $1,700.

Eye Like It! This Unique Matte Laptop Screen Soothes My Tired Peepers
The Edge 14 AI caught my eye due to its beautiful display, a 3K OLED panel with the world's first Corning Gorilla matte finish for a laptop screen. Powered by Intel Core Ultra 200V "Lunar Lake" processors, this Copilot+ PC is a thin-and-light solution for professionals and creatives. I got some hands-on time with this laptop and a few others at a private meeting in New York before their announcement at Computex 2025 -- see the video above for a rundown of the best systems from the lineup. These include the Swift X 14 AI, the Swift Go 14 AI, and the Aspire 14 AI and 16 AI, with details on each below. Swift Edge 14 AI: An Ultralight With a Unique Display The form factor and display are the two major features that drew me to this laptop, and they stand out both at first glance and on the spec sheet. Starting with the build, the Swift Edge 14 AI measures just 0.65 inch thick and weighs 2.18 pounds. It achieves this with a magnesium-aluminum alloy chassis that's lighter than a single-metal chassis but feels more premium than plastic. Based on my brief time with this remarkably portable laptop, it feels satisfying to tuck under your arm or carry with one hand between rooms or around the office. It should also easily slide into a bag for your commute. The 14-inch display nestled into the chassis is the bigger draw, however. It's a 3K (2,880-by-1,800-pixel) resolution, OLED touch panel with that Corning Matte Pro treatment, which will have broad appeal. This display treatment is an industry first on a laptop, and according to Acer's testing, cuts down on reflections by as much as 95% compared with other anti-glare glass alternatives. Touch panels are usually the biggest offenders regarding reflectiveness due to the required glass finish. Many users aren't interested in a touch screen for general computing, so the reflection annoyances aren't worth the trade-off to plenty of shoppers. A matte finish on a touch panel can blend those two and leave you only with the benefits. Having just tested an overly reflective gaming laptop display that made it hard to see, this sounds especially exciting to me right now. The Swift's matte surface cuts down on reflections, and creative types doing detailed work on this screen will appreciate that even more. This feature is all the more useful in an extra-portable laptop designed for use in multiple environments like travel and commutes. Overall, the screen is bright and vibrant, and the edge-to-edge glass makes it look larger than it is. On the inside, a range of Intel Core Ultra 5, 7, and 9 Lunar Lake processors drive the system, up to the Ultra 9 288V. You won't find a discrete graphics option to pair with the CPU, just integrated Intel Arc solutions. The Swift Edge 14 AI pairs with up to 32GB of memory (starting at 16GB) and a 1TB SSD. Lunar Lake should deliver impressive efficiency with long battery life: Acer estimates 21 hours. This laptop's connectivity is robust, too, with dual Thunderbolt 4 (USB-C) ports, two USB Type-A ports, and an HDMI connection. Swift Go AI: Copilot+ Laptops With Better Prices Acer also showed us the Swift Go AI, a more affordable version of the same concept in 14- and 16-inch sizes. You'll find none of Corning's special display treatments here, but both sizes feature OLED panels (with lower 1200p resolutions) and maintain thin-and-light builds. While more value-focused than the Edge 14 AI, the Go AI chassis is still aluminum for a higher-quality feel, but not as light (3.06 pounds for the 14-inch and 3.53 pounds for the 16-inch). Both systems also feature Intel Lunar Lake processing, qualifying as Copilot+ PCs, but they top out at the Core Ultra 7 rather than Ultra 9. Each can be equipped with up to 32GB of memory, while the 16-inch runs up to a 2TB SSD and the 14-inch up to 1TB. You won't find any discrete graphics options for these laptops, either. The New Swift X Lineup: RTX 5070 Graphics for Creators The Swift X line, meanwhile, is laser-focused on creative professionals. The Swift X 14 AI and Swift X 14 run AMD Ryzen and Intel processors, respectively, and include discrete Nvidia graphics options. Acer's Swift X 14 AI is a Copilot+ PC packed with AMD's Ryzen AI 300 processors, housing potent NPUs. The Intel-based Swift X 14 uses Arrow Lake H processors, which have less neural processing power but can be higher-performing CPUs for general computing. The former maxes out at a Ryzen AI 9 365, while the latter runs up to the Core Ultra 9 285H. On the graphics front, both laptops include Nvidia's RTX 5070 GPU, with no other options, plus Nvidia Studio drivers. This setup is where the creator focus comes in: Professional visual editing and content creation apps require more graphics horsepower. The screens also aim at these creative pros; while not as advanced as the Swift Edge's screen, these are still 14.5-inch 1800p OLED panels. I find all of these OLED screens look brilliant in person, and Acer claims 100% DCI-P3 color coverage, Calman verification, and 340 nits of brightness. While not as hyper-portable as the Swift Edge, these models weigh just below three and a half pounds and are comfortably less than an inch thick. The laptops' touchpads feature haptic feedback, too. Affordable Aspires With Metal Builds Finally, Acer announced its most affordable consumer laptops: the Aspire lineup. Although Acer showed off six new machines in different sizes and variations, my time focused on just two: the Aspire 14 AI and 16 AI. Despite their downmarket status, these systems are still made of aluminum to avoid a cheap feel, which I really appreciated. Of course, having exact pricing would help gauge how good of a deal they really are (Acer did not announce pricing or availability), but Aspire models are generally budget-friendly; as long as they stay in that range, it's nice to have a metal build in this tier. They feel well put together for entry-level laptops. The new Aspire lineup includes Qualcomm Snapdragon X, AMD Ryzen AI 300, and Intel Lunar Lake processing, which should please everyone. The less common Snapdragon chips will be the lower-power Snapdragon X X1-26-100 processor in both 14- and 16-inch models. The AMD and Intel models are available at Ryzen 5 and 7 or Ultra 5 and 7 tiers. While discrete graphics options are absent and some other more premium features are scarce, Acer includes OLED screen upgrade options on these systems. Acer did not announce final release dates or pricing for any of these systems; check back for details and full reviews when units are available.

I Can't Wait to Test Acer's Predator Triton 14 AI, a Spiffy OLED Laptop for Gamers and Creators
I got some hands-on time with the laptops before their unveiling in a private meeting in New York, as shown in the video below. The Triton's Intel "Lunar Lake" processor, GeForce RTX 5070 graphics, and OLED screen made me give it a closer look, but it's just one of several fresh gaming PCs announced at this year's show. New Predator Helios and Nitro models with 14-, 16-, and 18-inch screen options are among them. We also ran through a slew of mainstream laptops in the above video, which you can check out in this separate story on Acer's new Swift and Aspire laptops. Read on for more details on these new gaming boxes, starting with the jack-of-all-trades Triton. A Portable Triton Built for Gamers and Creators The Predator Triton 14 AI has the most interesting combination of specs and features among these systems. At 14 inches, portability is a major appeal here, with the laptop measuring just 0.68 by 12.6 by 8.7 inches (HWD) and weighing 3.5 pounds. The laptop features a black metal chassis that feels sturdy and high-quality in my hands. Acer opted for a pretty clean aesthetic with the laptop's design. It has a minimal lid logo with no text, which I appreciate, and sparse rear chassis lighting. However, the overall Triton package is what grabbed my attention, more than just its dimensions and design. With the Triton, Acer will target content creators as much as gamers. (If you live in both camps, then all the better.) The display, connectivity, and internal components will appeal to both. The 14.5-inch 120Hz display has a sharp 2,880-by-1,800-pixel resolution. It's an OLED panel with touch support and Calman verification for color coverage. This screen looks fantastic in person, and it should make your favorite games look vibrant and ensure your content creation assets are color-accurate. Lunar Lake Makes This Triton Interesting As for the components, the Triton 14 AI comes with an Intel Core Ultra 9 288V processor, an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 GPU, up to 32GB of memory, and up to 2TB of storage. The Core Ultra 9 is part of the Lunar Lake family. It's an efficient AI-ready chip with a neural processing unit (NPU) that we don't usually see in gaming systems. With a capable NPU, however, it also qualifies as a Copilot+ PC. I'm excited to see how it will perform when it eventually arrives in PC Labs for testing, and the same goes for the RTX 5070 (especially in such a compact laptop). You may wonder, "Why Lunar Lake, and why stop at an RTX 5070?" As it turns out, both of these key components are essential for this type of system. Of course, an RTX 5080 or RTX 5090 would deliver more power for enthusiasts, but the RTX 5070 is right for the system size, intended audiences, and price. Lunar Lake should support lengthy battery life and avoid restricting the GPU at the Ultra 9 tier. But it will be interesting to see how a Lunar Lake chip interacts with a higher-end RTX 50 chip for gamers. Most gaming systems use AMD or Intel H-class chips, after all. An efficient Lunar Lake V-chip paired with a robust GPU is new. To enable these parts to sing, Acer also built the Triton with its sixth-generation cooling fans, a vapor chamber, and a graphene thermal solution on both the CPU and GPU. I can't comment on the efficacy of these parts until we can test the machine in the lab, but an advanced thermal system is vital for a small gaming machine. Another potentially creator-friendly feature? The Corning Gorilla Glass touchpad includes haptic feedback and stylus support, giving you a smooth (albeit small) pad for pen controls. I didn't get to try this out much during my demo, but it's an unusual and interesting feature -- almost like a mini Wacom tablet. The Triton 14 AI is just one of Acer's gaming machines I saw at our meeting, so here are the rest with a bit less detail. (Some of them are also covered in the video above.) The Predator Helios Neo 14 AI is another compact and portable gaming machine that also tops out at an RTX 5070 GPU, but features Intel Arrow Lake H processing instead of Lunar Lake. It runs either the Core Ultra 7 255H or the Core Ultra 9 285H, and you can also opt for an RTX 5060 for a lower price. The Helios Neo's display is similar to the Triton's: a 14.5-inch OLED panel with a 1800p resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. However, you have a secondary option for a 1600p OLED screen with a 165Hz refresh rate. Despite what it shares with the Triton, this system is just that much more aimed at roaming gaming enthusiasts in particular. Acer also announced a new Predator Orion 3000 desktop, though I did not get a chance to see it in person at this meeting. It will pack up to an Intel Core Ultra 7 265F processor and an RTX 5070 GPU, so it's a midrange rig, generally speaking. This product is the only one announced that actually has a US release window and price: in the second half of 2025, starting at $1,199.99. Leaving the Predators behind, I also saw more wallet-friendly Nitro laptops: the Nitro 18 AI and 16 AI, plus the Nitro 16S AI and the Nitro V 16S AI. I know -- these similar names are confusing, but here's some shorthand to help: The "S" means slim, meaning the two S models have lower power ceilings than the other two. The 18 AI and 16 AI top out with AMD Ryzen 9 365 processors and an RTX 5070 Ti GPU, with Intel CPU options to come later. The displays will both offer a 180Hz refresh rate. There are no OLED options, likely to help keep the price down. Finally, I checked out the Nitro 16S AI and the Nitro V 16S AI. Unlike the other pair, these are both 16 inches, and as mentioned, the "S" represents their slim design, measuring 0.78 inch thick. There are some slight design differences between them (the 16S has a rear thermal block that's missing on the V 16S), and the 16S tops out at an RTX 5070 Ti while the V 16S only goes up to an RTX 5070. Acer has no North American prices or release dates for these products yet (save for the one I mentioned); the company is holding off on finalizing them due to persistent economic uncertainty. Check back for updates and eventual full reviews on these systems as Acer finalizes pricing and units become available later this year.

Acer's new Swift Edge 14 AI is a bunch of ports and a 'soft-touch' keyboard
In high-end laptops, thin is always in, but that doesn't mean you have to sacrifice connectivity. Acer's new Swift Edge 14 AI, leading its ultraportable lineup ahead of Computex in Taipei, is a sleek notebook that weighs less than 1 kilogram (approximately 2.18 pounds) but still has plenty of ports. The Swift Edge 14 AI will use Intel's "Lunar Lake" chips, ranging from a Core Ultra 5 226V up to a Core Ultra 9 288V, with up to 32GB of RAM and 1TB of SSD storage. That's all in a chassis that's 0.65 inches thick. It's notable that Acer isn't skimping on ports here. While many 13, 14, and even some 15-inch laptops have dropped to just a pair of USB-C ports, Acer's got two USB Type-C ports (supporting Thunderbolt 4), a pair of USB Type-A ports, HDMI 2.1, and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. That's a lot of connectivity on the go. We saw this with HP's OmniBook 7 Aero, but that much I/O on an ultrabook is still pretty rare these days. Like many high-end laptops, Acer's chassis is built from a mix of magnesium and aluminum. But unlike those laptops, the company is pushing a "soft-touch" keyboard that the company says has a "unique UV-cured coating that feels like velvet and is wear- and stain-resistant." We didn't get too much time to play with this keyboard, but we're certainly hoping it stays clean in the long term, especially considering this is a white laptop. Acer is promising up to 21 hours of battery life from the 65 WHr battery, but doesn't say how it got there. If it comes close, that would match the longest-lasting laptop we've ever tested. Unfortunately, Acer hasn't removed the weird AI indicator light from its touchpad, which glows whenever you use the NPU or use Copilot (which uses the internet and does not run locally). It is, at best, a distraction. Acer is also using Computex as a launch pad for its Swift Go 14 AI and Swift Go 16 AI, each with OLED displays and media controls built into the touchpad. All of these Swift laptops have 1080p webcams with IR support for Windows Hello. North American pricing and availability haven't been revealed just yet. Acer said that this information will be announced "closer to market availability." In Europe, the Swift Edge will release in June, while Australia has a more vague "Q2" release date. The Swift Go 16 AI and Swift 14 AI will ship in July and August in Europe, respectively.

Acer's new Swift Edge 14 AI laptop packs in a matte display and AI features
Acer is updating its lineup of Swift Edge, Go and X laptops at Computex with the latest Intel chips, and in of one of these Copilot+ PCs, a unique matte display treatment developed by Corning, the glass manufacturer behind the Gorilla Glass covering millions of smartphones. The beneficiary of that new display is the Swift Edge 14 AI. The laptop's display has an anti-glare Gorilla Matte Pro finish that's the first of its kind on a laptop, and is supposed to "reduce screen reflection by 95 percent" compared to alternative anti-glare glass. Acer introduced the original Swift Edge 14 AI alongside the parade of Copilot+ PCs that accompanied Microsoft's big push into AI last year. The new Swift Edge 14 AI benefits from those same AI features like Recall or Click to Do thanks to its updated internals. You can spec the Swift Edge 14 AI with up to an Intel Core Ultra 9 processor with Intel Arc graphics, up to 32GB LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of storage. All of this components are packed into a white and relatively light (2.18 lbs) magnesium-aluminum alloy body, with a 14-inch OLED screen and a "soft-touch" stain-resistant keyboard. For the new Swift Go 14 AI and Swift Go 16 AI, Acer lets you build the laptop with up to an Intel Core Ultra 7, up to 32 GBLPDDR5X RAM and up to 2TB of storage. On the Swift Go 14 AI you can opt for a 16:10, 1,920 x 1,200 resolution OLED and a similarly laid out 2,048 x 1,280 resolution OLED on the Swift Go 16 AI. Neither laptop is as sleek as the Swift Edge 14 AI -- in terms of appearance, the Swift Go laptops seem like the kind you'd be assigned for work. Case in point, both Go models have 1080p, Windows Hello-compatible webcams and touchpads with built-in video conferencing controls. Acer is also updating its Swift X laptops, the company's go-to option if you're looking for more graphical oomph. Both the Swift X 14 AI and the plain Swift X 14 include a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 laptop GPU, which should power you through all sort of video editing and 3D rendering tasks. You can pair the GPU with up to an AMD Ryzen AI 9 on the Swift X 14 AI or up to an Intel Core Ultra 9 on on the Swift X 14. Both laptops can include up to 32GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 2TB of storage. This year's Swift laptops also feature a 14.5-inch 3K OLED displays and larger haptic touchpads that support tilt-enabled styluses for drawing and photo retouching. Likely due to the unpredictable nature of global trade, none of Acer's new Swift laptops have finalized pricing or availability in the US, though we can share the info Acer has for Europe. The Swift Edge 14 AI is expected to be available in June for €1,599, the Swift Go 14 AI a little bit later in July for €1,199 and the Swift Go 16 AI in August for €1,299. The story is the same for Acer's Swift X laptops. Both the Swift X 14 AI and Swift X 14 will be available in July for €1,799.

Acer's New Swift Laptops Have 3K OLED Screens
Acer is updating its Swift line of thin, lightweight laptops with five new models. The lineup includes the Swift X 14 and Swift X 14 AI, aimed at content creators, and the Swift Edge 14 AI and Swift Go 14 and 16 AI for general productivity work. The Acer Swift X 14 and Swift X 14 AI are built for creative professionals like graphic designers, video editors, and photographers. Both models have NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPUs, which will come in handy for video editing, streaming, 3D rendering, or local AI workflows. They also come with pre-installed NVIDIA Studio drivers to boost performance. The Swift X 14 AI runs on AMD Ryzen AI 300 Series processors, with the top model featuring an AMD Ryzen AI 9 365 processor with Zen 5 cores for quick response times and handling heavy tasks. Meanwhile, the Swift X 14 uses Intel Core Ultra Processors (Series 2), up to an Intel Core Ultra 9 processor 285H, for smooth multitasking and app performance. Both laptops support up to 32 GB of LPDDR5X memory and up to 2 TB of PCIe Gen 4 storage. Their 14.5-inch 3K OLED screens are Calman-verified for color accuracy and have a 16:10 aspect ratio, edge-to-edge glass, and VESA DisplayHDR TrueBlack 500 certification. This is great when editing photos or images, because monitors that are not as good tend to give a darker and more contrasted image, which can lead to a brighter end result than necessary. Close The Acer Swift Edge 14 AI is designed for those who want a high-end laptop that is both powerful and lightweight. It weighs just 0.99 kg and has an ultra-thin magnesium-aluminum body, a 14-inch 3K OLED screen with edge-to-edge glass, and a Corning Gorilla Matte Pro surface that cuts screen glare by 95 percent. It runs on Intel Core Ultra 200V Series processors, up to an Intel Core Ultra 9 processor 288V, with built-in NPUs. The NPUs give over 40 TOPS, which is good for AI performance. It also includes an Intel Arc GPU for better visual upscaling. With up to 32 GB of LPDDR5X memory and up to 1 TB of PCIe Gen 4 storage, it handles really demanding tasks smoothly. The laptop also has a long battery life of up to 21 hours. The Swift Go 16 AI and Swift Go 14 AI are made for those who want a mix of performance and portability. These laptops are powered by an Intel Core Ultra 7 processor 258V with Intel Arc graphics, 32 GB of LPDDR5X memory, and 2 TB of PCIe Gen 4 NVMe SSD storage. Acer's feathery Swift Edge AI laptop has the matte OLED you crave
Just over 2 pounds and with a matte screen -- few productivity laptops do this. Acer's Swift Edge 14 AI laptops already feel like one of the standouts of next week's Computex 2025 show, combining a matte OLED display with an incredibly light weight. If you're constantly on the go, this might be a laptop for you. All told, the Acer Swift Edge's magnesium-aluminum chassis eliminates the vast majority of the weight. At 2.18 pounds, this puts the emphasis on light, which should be one of the focus points for a laptop that is constantly dropped into a bag or backpack. Acer's Swift Edge 14 AI (SFE14-51 and -51T) and the Swift Go 14 and 16 AI are among the number of laptops that the company is debuting at Computex in the thin-and-light category, along with the Swift X creator series and the cheaper Aspire notebooks as well. Acer is also launching updates to its Predator line of gaming notebooks, too. I had a chance to go hands-on with the new Swift Edge in a preview of Acer's Computex lineup. The Swift Edge is incredibly light, easily drawn out and moved around with a single hand. The real star of this Core Ultra (Lunar Lake) notebook may be its 14-inch screen, a 2880 x 1800 OLED coated with a Corning Gorilla Matte Pro finish. Laptop makers typically offer reflective screen which can mirror the light and background of your nearby environment. If you've ever worked in a library or cafe with overhead lighting, you'll notice it. On the other hand, a matte screen dulls all that, eliminating reflections and minimizing the reflected light. That's even more important with an OLED display, whose rich blacks tend to emphasize a reflective display. Acer's Swift Go laptops, available in 14-inch and 16-inch screen sizes, are a bit more conventional. Like the Swift Edge AI, these are Copilot+ laptops, so the Intel Core 200V chips (Lunar Lake) inside these Swift Go 14 AI and Swift Go 16 AI allow for Microsoft's Copilot+ experiences like Windows Studio Effects, Windows Recall, and more. The signature feature here is one you may have seen before: the Acer Multi-Control touchpad that provides contextual controls -- such as play, pause, and fast-forward/rewind -- during specific applications. The Swift Gos also include Acer Assist, a dedicated AI app, which provides a folder into which users can load documents and then assign an LLM to make sense of them all. The new Swift Go platform also includes Purified Voice 2.0, which can filter out ambient noise during video calls like magic. (Rival Asus offers a similar technology. Both use the NPU for noise filtering, which I've tested.) Because of the variability of the Trump tariffs, Acer isn't disclosing pricing or the ship date of these laptops for the U.S. markets. In general, however, you should expect them to ship in between 30 and 90 days, Acer tells us. "We will announce U.S. pricing, availability, and configurations closer to market availability in the United States/North America," Acer said in a statement. Acer did provide European pricing, however, as a point of comparison. Previously, Acer's Swift Edge featured AMD's Ryzen AI 300 CPUs. At least for Computex, Acer is showcasing the Swift Edge AI with just Intel inside. Acer's Swift Edge 14 AI measures 12.35 x 9.02 x 0.37in (9.3-16mm) and includes processor options from Intel Core Ultra 5 226V to the Core Ultra 9 288V, plus Intel's integrated Arc graphics GPUs. Though it's thin and light, it's not flimsy; the laptop is rated at MIL-STD 810H resilience. Inside the notebook are options for either 32GB of LPDDR5X memory and up to a terabyte of PCIe Gen 4 SSD storage. Although battery life will vary based on a number of factors, the Swift Edge boasts a 65Wh battery, enough for what the company says is good for 21 hours of battery life. Wireless connectivity is supplied by Intel's Killer Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 and above. There are also plenty of ports: a pair of Thunderbolt 4 ports, plus two USB-A ports, one that's capable of charging. Acer includes a standard 1080p webcam on the Acer Swift Edge 14 AI, but with an additional fingerprint reader mounted behind the power button. The Acer Swift Edge 14 AI (SFE14-51/T) will be available in Europe in June, starting at EUR1,599 ($1,788) and in Australia in the second quarter, starting at AUD3,999. Acer's Swift Go laptops are thicker, and built out of aluminum. Acer's 14-inch Swift Go 14 AI, for example, measures 12.3 x 8.89 x 0.63 inches and measures 3.06 pounds; the 16-inch version measures 14 x 9.87 x 0.63 inches and weighs a chunkier 3.53 pounds. They both include 64Wh batteries. The two laptops are built around either your choice of an OLED (a 16-inch 2040 x 1280 or 14-inch 1920 x 1200) or a standard 1200p IPS display -- put another way, the 16-inch offers significant differences in screen resolution while the 14-inch does not. In both, you'll have a choice between four different Core Ultra (Lunar Lake) processors, with up to 32GB of LPDDR5X memory and a whopping 2TB of storage. Both laptops have two Thunderbolt 4 ports, two USB-A ports, WiFi 7, and Bluetooth 5.4. The Acer Swift Go 16 AI (SFG16-74) will be available in Europe beginning in August, starting at 1,299 euros ($1,453). The Acer Swift Go 14 AI (SFG14-75) will be available in Europe in July, starting at EUR1,199 ($1,341).

Computex 2025: Acer announces new Aspire 14 and 16 AI Copilot+ PCs -- student laptops that pack a punch
Computex 2025 is kicking off, and Acer has a whole lineup of laptops, monitors and more to reveal at the event -- including all-new Aspire 14 and 16 AI Copilot+ PCs. Acer announced six new 14-inch and 16-inch Aspire laptops, with several configurations that include the latest Intel Core Ultra Series 2, AMD Ryzen AI 300 Series and Snapdragon X Series processors. With AI CPUs onboard, these Copilot+ PCs will arrive with the latest AI features, such as Click to Do, Recall (in preview), improved Windows Search and Acer's own suite of AI apps, such as AcerSense, LiveArt 2.0 and more. Set to be at "pocket-friendly" prices, the Aspire 14 and 16 AI notebooks are geared toward students and professionals, with thin, lightweight designs so they can be moved around with ease. Plus, you can expect 120Hz displays with 180-degree hinges, and they even come in glorious OLED. Prices start at €899/AUD$1,399 (around $999/£799), with the first set of Aspire AI laptops being available in select regions this June. Will the best contenders as the best laptops for students? Judging by their specs, they certainly stand a chance. The 14-inch laptop is becoming a popular sizes for students or workers, probably because they offer that blend of a sizeable enough display along with relative portability. The new Acer Aspire 14 AI looks to fit into that description and be a great pick for those on the move. Thanks to its varied CPUs, this notebook range aims to deliver plenty of performance and battery life. The Intel model boasts up to a Core Ultra 7 258V CPU and Intel Arc 140V for graphics, making it a speedy machine that can even do a little 1080p gaming and medium settings on the side. This configuration also comes with Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity. Interestingly, thanks to its 65Wh battery, it claims to last over 26 hours with video playback! As for the AMD configuration, expect up to an AMD Ryzen AI 7 35 CPU and integrated AMD Radeon 86M graphics. This is based on Zen 5 architecture, so expect this machine to also pack great performance. According to specs, this is a step down in connectivity, as it brings Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 instead. Apparently, it also lasts over 18 hours on video playback, so not as good of a deal compared to Intel. Lastly, the Snapdragon variant delivers Snapdragon X performance at both the CPU (Oryon), GPU (Adreno) and NPU (Hexagon) level. You can also expect Wi-Fi 7 here, but with Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity. However, this Aspire 14 AI is the most affordable of the bunch. Snapdragon X-equipped Acer Aspire 14 AI laptops start at €899 / AUD$1,399 (around $999 / £799) with availability in June, with the Intel and AMD configurations available for €999 / AUD$1,499 (around $1,099 / £899) in July. Otherwise, these laptops match the design and portable appeal of its predecessors (like the Acer Aspire Go 15), but with upgraded specs and bigger, stylish designs. Plus, it offers up to a 14-inch WUXGA (1920 x 1200) OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 16:10 aspect ratio. So far, these laptops could make for excellent additions in our best business laptops and Windows laptops guides. Of course, we'll have to get some hands-on time with them to see if they work as well on paper. Are there any big differences in the Acer Aspire 16 AI laptop? Not really, aside from the larger 16-inch WUXGA+ (2048 x 1280) OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and 16:10 aspect ratio. More screen real estate and better resolution -- similar to the MacBook Air M4 13-inch and Air M4 15-inch models. The 16-inch laptop is set to arrive later than the Aspire 14, and is priced slightly higher. Again, the Snapdragon configuration offers more value, available from €999 / AUD$1,499 (around $1,099 / £899) in July. Both the Intel and AMD models start at €1,099 / AUD$1,499 (around $1,199 / £999), and will be available in August. There will be plenty more on show at Computex 2025, and we'll be on the floor to fill you in all there is to know -- including a possible laptop CPU from Nvidia and MediaTek.

Acer announces new Swift and Aspire laptop line-ups - here are 4 big things you need to know about them
With Computex 2025 now just a few days away, we can expect a whole host of new PC hardware announcements soon - and fortunately, Acer has already made a start on that, with its new Swift and Aspire laptops ready to hit the market for consumers as early as June and, in the case of the ones below, July. While there are plenty of new Acer devices coming your way, we've cherry-picked a few in particular that stand out the most; the Acer Swift X 14, Swift X 14 AI, the Swift Go 16 AI, and the Acer Aspire 16 AI (Intel). All of these new laptops share similar specifications, such as processors that are built to provide great performance in a number of scenarios including gaming - most importantly for AI workloads as Copilot+ PCs. But here are the four main things you need to know about Acer's new laptops... Yet again, OLED is getting the attention it deserves, and Acer is using OLED panels across a wide range of its new laptops - fortunately, all of these cherry-picked laptops are among them. The Acer Swift X 14 AI will feature an OLED 14.5 WQXGA+ (2880 x 1800) touchscreen display, which will also take advantage of the VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification. It's ideal for accurate image quality with deep blacks, with a minimum of 500 nits in brightness. The Acer Swift Go 16 AI will fare slightly differently, with a 16-inch OLED WUXGA+ (2048 x 1280) display. It uses a lower-resolution panel, but to compensate for the difference in graphics capabilities (which I'll get into soon). With the Acer Aspire 16 AI, only one of the configurations features an OLED (2048 x 1200) display; unlike the Swift X 14 AI, it won't be touchscreen but its IPS configuration will. I must note that these aren't gaming laptops, as they're made for creators using tools like Copilot+. However, both processors and GPUs (including iGPUs) are powerful enough to yield great gaming performance. The Acer Swift X 14 AI will be the most powerful among the group; configurations up to Nvidia's RTX 5070 (the laptop GPU, including Nvidia Studio Drivers) and AMD's Ryzen AI 9 365 processor will be available, which are both capable of great performance in demanding creative AI workloads, or gaming. Its non-AI counterpart (Swift X 14) will feature up to Intel's Core Ultra 9 285H processor. While the Swift Go 16 AI and Aspire 16 AI won't feature any discrete GPUs, they'll both be powered by (depending on the configuration) Intel's Core Ultra 7 258V - the same processor and Arc 140V iGPU featured in the MSI Claw 8 AI+ handheld gaming PC, known for its great gaming performance. While it packs a powerful processor, fast Wi-Fi 7 connectivity, and an OLED display, Acer claims the Swift Go (its 14-inch model in particular) is "as light as 15.9mm and as light as 1.39kg". To put it simply, this means it will be one of Acer thinnest and lightest laptops, easy for travel and packing - even with its 14-inch screen size. It's a similar story with the Swift Go 16 AI. While it's not exactly as thin or light as its counterpart, it only weighs 1.6kg, which shouldn't be enough of a noticeable jump in weight. They will both also take advantage of an "all-day battery life", ensuring you don't miss a beat during productive and creative workflows, and will have a 64Wh battery that should last a claimed 16 hours (likely with adjusted brightness levels or settings). These new Acer laptops in particular will arrive as early as July; the Acer Swift X 14 AI (and Swift X 14) will be available in Europe in July, starting at €1,799 - prices in North America and Australia are yet to be announced, but that converts to around $2,015 / £1,515 / AU$3,140. Unlike the Swift X 14 AI, the Acer Swift Go 16 AI will be available in Europe in August, starting at €1,299 - again, prices in North America and Australia have not been announced, but that converts to about $1,455 / £1,095 / AU$2,270) In similar fashion, the Aspire 16 AI (Intel) will be available in Europe in August, starting at €1,099 as the cheapest of the group - there is again currently no word on prices in North America and Australia, but that equates to around $1,230 / £925 / AU$1,920. It's worth noting that each laptop's price will vary depending on the chosen configuration, which ranges in processors, GPU, RAM, storage, and display.

Acer's newest lightweight laptop beats the MacBook Air in weight | Stuff
Ahead of Computex 2025, Acer revealed the Swift Edge 14 which tips the scales at just 990g. We're talking backpack-friendly, travel-ready, actually-use-on-your-lap-without-going-numb light. And yet, somehow, Acer managed to cram in a 14-inch 3K OLED display, Intel's latest Core Ultra 9 chip, an AI-powered NPU, and enough ports to avoid dongle purgatory. It's hard not to be impressed. This thing isn't just light - it also packs proper power for actual work. Between the OLED panel that's been fine-tuned with VESA DisplayHDR TrueBlack 600 and Gorilla Glass Matte Pro (a mouthful, I know), this laptop isn't messing about with screen quality. And while you're not going to launch a AAA game marathon on the Intel Arc graphics, it'll more than handle AI tinkering, 4K streaming, or 67-tab Chrome sessions. The rest of the Swift lineup doesn't exactly slouch, either. The new Swift X 14 and Swift X 14 AI models are pitched squarely at creators and professionals. They pack either Intel Core Ultra or AMD Ryzen AI processors and RTX 5070 GPUs inside. That means you can throw editing timelines, 3D rendering, and AI art generation at them without so much as a stutter. Acer's glorious OLED touchscreens make a return, with full DCI-P3 coverage and 3K resolution. Acer's also throwing in a stylus-ready haptic touchpad, facial recognition login, and a surprisingly useful set of AI tools. Whether you're using the AMD or Intel flavour, both Swift X 14 models are certified Nvidia Studio laptop. Twin fans, copper heat pipes, and airflow wizardry mean they're not going to burn your legs every time you open Photoshop. As for those who want solid performance in a slightly less flashy shell, the Swift Go 14 AI and Swift Go 16 AI also got a refresh. Still OLED, still AI-savvy, and still designed for all-day battery and light productivity. They even have a Multi-Control Touchpad so you can play DJ with your video calls. The Acer Swift Edge 14 will be available from June, starting at €1599. The Swift X 14 AI and Swift X 14 both land in July, starting at €1799. The Swift Go 16 AI drops in August from €1299, and the Swift Go 14 AI follows in July from €1199. US and UK availability and pricing has yet to be unveiled.
