Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) hosted the TEDxUniversiti Brunei Darussalam themed 'Futuring Together' yesterday. The event showcased seven speakers comprising university staff, students and alumni as well as a speaker, who shared on 'ideas worth spreading', guided by the United Nations' sustainable development goals. The talks celebrated locally driven initiatives that inspire the audience and emphasised UBD's leading role in fostering a culture of embracing the local communities. The speakers addressed topics including the inability of artificial intelligence (AI) to fully replace human language learning, sustainable innovation propelled by technology-driven partnerships, the significance of intellectual honesty on the return on investment of companies, the role of the circular economy in business networks, the improvement of inclusion and accessibility for children with special needs and mental health issues, and the importance of digital literacy in promoting a sustainable future. The event concluded with a giveaway where an attendee received a complimentary night for two at a hotel. UBD Vice-Chancellor Dr Hazri bin Haji Kifle was the guest of honour.
