Google Gemini's New Button Helps You Get to Simple Answers Faster
(Credit: Thomas Fuller/SOPA Images/LightRocket via Getty Images) Ever find that searching an AI chatbot for simple questions takes longer than expected? It's likely because you're using a deep-thinking model. Google is introducing a new button to help those in-depth processes produce faster responses when you're asking a simple question. If you're using Google Gemini's Pro or Thinking models, you'll now see a button called "Answer now" next to the description as it's generating a response. If you press this button, it will skip to the fastest possible answer while continuing to use the model you've already selected. The functionality was first spotted by 9to5Google, which saw it rolling out to both the Android and iPhone apps as well as the web version. Pressing the button will tell you it's "Skipping in-depth thinking" before replacing that with its final answer. The idea is that you can continue using more intensive AI models in Gemini for the shortest answers without the hassle of switching between models. You won't see this option appear if you're already using Google's Gemini Fast model. However, 9to5Google spotted that Gemini hints that it isn't switching to the faster alternative when you press the button; it'll instead use your currently selected model to produce a faster, less in-depth result. Last week, Gemini introduced new ways to better personalize responses by connecting them to other Google services, such as Gmail, Photos, Search, and YouTube. The feature is currently available in beta for all Google AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers in the US. You can turn the feature on by heading to Gemini's Settings > Personal Intelligence > Connected Apps. Future additions to the tool are expected to include Google Calendar, Drive, and other Workspace apps, such as Docs and Sheets.

Gemini app rolls out feature for faster answers
Google has added a feature to the Gemini app for when you need an answer and need it fast, with an Answer Now button. It skips the deep thinking to serve up a quick reply. You can now make both Gemini Pro and Thinking quicker Those using Gemini 3 Pro or Gemini 3 Thinking/Flash will now see an Answer Now button beside the spinning status indicator. Interestingly, this does not appear in the Fast model yet -- and it is doubtful that it will ever appear in the quick-answering version of the three Google models. According to 9To5Google, the tech giant also split the usage limits for both Thinking and Pro. Now, AI Pro will get 300 Thinking prompts a day and 100 Pro prompts a day, while AI Ultra will get 1,500 Thinking prompts a day and 500 Pro prompts a day. These new limits also apply to free users; the company lists it as just "Basic access" for both Thinking and Pro. To get the new feature to work, you simply ask a general question (as you would in Gemini) and then hit the Answer Now button. From there, tapping it will give you confirmation that Gemini is "skipping in-depth thinking," and that your answer will appear shortly after. According to the three-dot overflow menu at the end of the response, Gemini will use the chosen model to answer the question rather than simply switching to Fast. Google recently rolled out the new Personal Intelligence feature to Gemini, which essentially allows the chatbot to tailor its responses by connecting to your Google ecosystem (Gmail, Photos, Search/YouTube history). The good news is that this recently released feature is off by default, and you can still choose which apps Gemini can use. Gemini 'Answer Now' Button Skips Deep Thinking for Quick Facts - Phandroid
Google Gemini Answer Now button skips deep thinking for instant replies on simple questions. The feature works across Android, iOS, and web for both free and paid users. It targets quick facts or basic queries where you don't want to wait through the spinning indicator and step-by-step reasoning that Gemini's deep thinking mode normally provides. Tap "Answer Now" next to the thinking spinner when using Pro or Thinking models. It shows "Skipping in-depth thinking" and switches to a lighter, faster mode for direct answers without verbose explanations. The feature works best for closed-ended stuff like math problems, unit conversions, or time checks. It's less useful for complex analysis where deep reasoning shines. Google rolled this out server-side, so no app update is needed. Unlike ChatGPT's automatic fast mode switch, Gemini Answer Now gives you the button to override the AI's default behavior. This fixes complaints about unnecessary delays on easy questions. Everyday users get snappier AI for quick hits like facts and simple math, while serious users keep deep mode for tough problems. It's like having both calculator mode and full research assistant in one. The feature ties into Gemini 3's broader speed push and model splits between Fast, Thinking, and Pro modes. Google recently split usage limits for these modes to pair with Answer Now. For real-world use, it's perfect when you're in a rush checking trivia mid-commute or need a quick conversion while cooking. You control whether Gemini overthinks simple questions or delivers instant facts. This user control approach feels more transparent than automatic switching, giving you the final say on speed versus depth for every query you throw at Google's AI assistant.

Gemini's newest feature is going to make it a whole lot more usable
When not writing, Dave enjoys spending time with his family, running, playing the guitar, camping, and serving in his community. His favorite place is the Blue Ridge Mountains, and one day he hopes to retire there (hopefully his fear of heights will have retired by then, too!). Summary Gemini is gaining a new "Answer now" option to deliver faster answers. "Answer now" skips in-depth thinking on the Thinking and Pro models. The feature is rolling out now for free and paid accounts on Android, iOS, and the web. Google's Gemini is probably my most-used AI assistant, but there's no denying it sometimes takes a minute to get an answer to what seems like a simple question. A new update from Google aims to help reduce this friction by letting you skip "in-depth" thinking on certain models. Gemini's models explained You've got options Gemini 3 offers a choice of three models: Fast, Thinking, and Pro. Fast: As the name suggests, this model is the quickest. It's meant for simple, everyday tasks. Thinking: This model uses the same base as Fast, but with some additional reasoning enabled. It's slower, but it's better at working through complex queries. Pro: Pro is the most powerful Gemini model, but also the slowest. It facilitates deeper thinking and reasoning, making it best suited for queries involving topics such as coding, advanced math, or in-depth research. The choice of models is great. The problem is that sometimes you forget to switch models -- or just don't want to. In these instances, Gemini can end up taking forever to deliver an answer to a simple question, like "What's the capital of New Zealand?". How the new "Answer now" button helps Faster answers without compromising quality? Close Google's newest Gemini feature aims to help solve these problems by letting you skip the in-depth thinking on a question. While Gemini thinks, it will display what it's thinking about. Next to this information, you'll find a button that says Answer now. Tapping this button will skip the more advanced reasoning steps and deliver your answer more quickly, saving valuable time on queries that don't require much detailed thinking. You can also use Gemini Live to save even more time, or use the Android share sheet to send inputs directly to Gemini. Crucially, "Answer now" speeds things up without changing models. This is in contrast to an older "Skip" button that would simply switch to the Fast model. In theory, this should help prevent a loss of answer quality by switching to the more basic model, although time will tell if that actually pans out. Meanwhile, if you want better answers from Gemini, you can try using better prompts. That said, you do lose something by using "Answer now": the ability to show the "thought process" used by the model to determine its answer. Normally, when you use Thinking or Pro for a query, you'll get a "Show thinking" drop-down that will outline the steps the model took to arrive at its answer. This option is gone when you hit "Answer now," presumably because Gemini isn't going through those same steps. The new feature is rolling out now to Gemini users on Android, iOS, and the web. It's available to both free and paid accounts. Oddly enough, the feature is still called "Skip" on iOS, though the underlying functionality appears to be the same.

Google Adds New Feature in Gemini App for Providing Quick Replies: Report
Tapping the button skips Gemini's in-depth reasoning process Google's Gemini assistant was recently updated with support for the new Personal Intelligence feature, which enables the chatbot to personalise responses by accessing the Google Ecosystem of users. Now, the tech giant has reportedly added another new feature to its artificial intelligence (AI) assistant, aimed at delivering faster responses to users. The new feature is called Answer Now, and it lets users receive instant replies. It appears alongside the spinning status indicator for users on Gemini 3 Pro and Gemini 3 Thinking/Flash. However, the feature is reportedly unavailable in the Fast model. Gemini's New Feature Enables Quick Responses The company has added a new Answer Now button to Gemini (via 9to5Google) and when users ask a question using the Gemini 3 Pro or Gemini 3 Thinking (Gemini 3 Flash) models, they will reportedly be able to see the "Answer Now" option next to the spinning status indicator while Gemini generates a response. The button is not available in the Fast (Gemini 3 Flash) model. As the name suggests, tapping the Answer Now button prompts a confirmation stating that Gemini is "skipping in-depth thinking," and delivers a quick response. According to the three-dot overflow menu at the end of the response, Gemini continues to use the selected model to generate the reply, rather than switching to the Fast model. Google is reportedly rolling out the Answer Now feature to both free and paid users of the Gemini app across Android, iOS and the Web platforms. The company recently introduced the Personal Intelligence feature for the Gemini app. When enabled, Personal Intelligence links data from apps such as Gmail, Google Drive and Google Photos, allowing Gemini to provide more personalised responses. Users can decide which app to connect to the optional feature, such as Gmail, Photos, YouTube, and Search and disable access at any time. Gemini will also refer to the sources it used from the connected apps, according to the company.
