There are tools to choose from in addition to the model selector, and some of these can be used with certain models, but not with others. In an effort to future-proof the website's design and tidy up existing options, Google has started rolling out a revamped homepage for Gemini on the web. It appears that this redesign is in the process of rolling out, so you might have it on one account while still seeing the old UI on another. In addition, instead of the main greeting saying "Hello, [your name]," the page now asks "How can I help?" Paving the way for more tools? It seems like Google's main motivation for this change was to accommodate a new Tools drop-down menu, which replaces the existing chips underneath the prompt bar that were starting to run out of room for new additions. Options like Video, Deep Research, Canvas, and Image now require you to click the Tools button beneath the prompt bar in order to access them -- but the upshot is that this leaves plenty of room for new additions down the line. Google has kept the suggested queries in roughly the same spot, towards the bottom of the screen. Meanwhile, the model selector drop-down remains unchanged in the top-left corner, and the buttons to attach a file or use your microphone are still located in the bottom corners of the prompt box. These changes come just days after Google launched a new Gemini Drops website to help keep you on top of all the new features being added to its flagship AI product. Gemini web app starts rolling out homepage redesign

Google is gearing up for the latest homepage Gemini redesign on the web, with the prompt bar seeing a big change. This redesign starts by changing the "Hello, [name]" greeting to a generic "How can I help?" that feels a little bit less like an assistant. The main change is moving the prompt bar from the bottom of the screen to the center. The overall design of the "Ask Gemini" field with the 'plus' menu and microphone at the bottom corners is unchanged. However, there's now a new "Tools" dropdown menu to replace the side-by-side suggestion chips. You have: Deep Research, Canvas, (amusingly) Images with Imagen, and Videos with Veo. A similar menu on mobile makes sense, but it's a shame to not take advantage of the available screen real estate on desktop to emphasize what Gemini can do. That said, this design is much cleaner than before. New Finally, Google has moved the suggested queries to the bottom of the screen. Visually, this is reminiscent of Google AI Studio, which got a new favicon this week that replaces the old blue butterfly. It also of course evokes the Google Search homepage.

Tap Write, and you'll get prompts like writing a thank-you note or summarising Catch-22 for kids. Build offers fun project ideas like creating a fireworks generator or a photography portfolio website, and Deep search offers deeper queries like planning a foodie trip to Japan or comparing family phone plans.
