IIT Madras Launches Innovative Certificate Courses in Data Science and AI for School Students | Chennai News - Times of India
Chennai: IIT Madras has launched two certificate courses in data science, artificial intelligence and electronic systems for school students. These two courses have been designed by professors under the 'IIT-M School Connect' programme to help Class XI and XII students make informed choices about higher education and careers. The course will be taught in online mode. Schools interested in partnering with IIT-M can register using the following link https://school-connect.study.iitm.ac.in. "We are planning to introduce more hands-on programmes in the coming months, catering to a wider range of interests," said Andrew Thangaraj, chair, Centre for Outreach and Digital Education (CODE), IIT-M. The courses will be for a duration of eight weeks. The initiative has already attracted substantial interest, with more than 500 schools across India partnering with IIT-M. As many as 11,000 students from across the country have enrolled in the first batch. Registrations began on Sept 16 and classes will commence for the next batch on Oct 21. "Courses such as help students identify their interests and strengths," said Prathap Haridoss, dean (academic courses), IIT-Madras. The institute will give recorded lecture videos, hands-on training, live interactions, assignments and computer-based assessments for certification.

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has launched the IITM School Connect program with an aim to help school students make informed choices about their higher education and professional lives. As part of the program, students are being offered two certificate courses in 'Data Science and Artificial Intelligence' and 'Electronic Systems'. The courses will be conducted for eight weeks. Notably, registrations for the upcoming batch already started on September 16, 2024, and will close on October 4, 2024. "Courses such as these, expose the students to the various disciplines and help children identify their interests and strengths," he added.
