Set a couple of years after the first film, M3gan 2.0 once again centers roboticist Gemma (Allison Williams) and her niece Cady (Violet McGraw) -- two of the few people who managed to survive M3gan's (Amie Donald / Jenna Davis) initial murder spree. As an advocate for stricter regulations on the very same kind of artificial intelligence she helped create, Gemma knows how dangerous it would be if she were to bring M3gan back. But when a defense contractor uses Gemma's code to create an even more advanced killer robot called Amelia (Ivanna Sakhno), who immediately sets out to conquer the world, Gemma has no choice but to give M3gan a second chance at life. While the first M3gan was definitely silly, this trailer's use of "Oops!... I Did It Again" and its focus on M3gan flying through the sky in a wingsuit make clear that writer Akela Cooper and director Gerard Johnstone are fully leaning into the franchise's camp. Blumhouse's other recent AI panic horrors haven't exactly sparked joy, but M3gan 2.0 feels like it's going to be one hell of a good time when it hits theaters on June 27th.

Instead, the sequel is embracing a turn towards action in vein of Terminator 2 complete with upgrades to the original doll, a robot showdown and... a wing suit? Set to arrive in theaters only on June 27, the film is once again directed by Gerard Johnstone and features returning cast members Allison Williams, Violet McGraw, Brian Jordan Alvarez and Jen Van Epps, along with newcomer Ivanna Sakhno (Pacific Rim: Uprising) as Amelia. It's two years after the original M3GAN doll went on a murderous rampage (including that wild dance sequence) and was eventually destroyed. Since then, its designer Gemma has become an author and voice for more robust AI oversight, while Gemma's niece Cady (who M3GAN 1.0 swore to protect) is now a teenager. Meanwhile, M3GAN's AI tech was stolen by a defense contractor to build super robot solidier Amelia. However, the experiment went awry and Amelia seeks murderous revenge against the AI's creators, particularly Gemma and Cady. Despite misgivings (mostly over the fact that M3GAN tried to murder her), Gemma decides to resurrect the OG doll to combat Amelia, and even adds updates to make her faster, stronger and, well, taller. That sets up a showdown between M3GAN and Amelia, complete with guns, a Teletubby version of M3GAN, catchphrases ("hold on to your vagina") and the aforementioned wingsuit sequence. It has strong shades of Terminator 2 with the original robot doll protecting a key character from a new upgraded model. That's married with a camp aesthetic, lots of blood and even a creepy usage of Britney Spears' Oops I did it Again.

It also taps into the online love for M3GAN, with one fan dressed in her signature blonde wig saying, "I don't care if she did kill four people, she is a smoking hot warrior princess!" That she is -- and we can't wait to see her in action again. I previously wrote about the six biggest horror movies coming in 2025 that I can't wait to watch, and now M3GAN 2.0 is worthy of a spot, even if it doesn't feel as horror-like as its predecessor. The new trailer teases an upgrade for M3GAN in more ways than one, and it seems they're leaning on the comedic elements of the unstable android rather than some of the horror we saw in the first movie. As much as I love the horror genre, I am excited to see where it goes when it arrives in theaters on June 27. Take a look at the trailer below! Now we have a trailer, we've got a good idea of what M3GAN 2.0 will be about, and it's a fun twist on the title because she's getting some serious upgrades. 'M3GAN 2.0' unleashes first trailer, 30 M3GANs dance to Britney Spears

LAS VEGAS - What's better than one dancing M3GAN? How about 30 of them? More than a two-dozen "dancing robot" M3GANs hit the stage Wednesday at CinemaCon, the convention for theater owners, and grooved to Britney Spears' "Oops! I Did It Again" to celebrate the return of everyone's favorite murderous high-tech doll in "M3GAN 2.0" (in theaters June 27). Producers (and big-time horror guys) Jason Blum and James Wan introduced the first trailer for the sequel, which takes place two years after 2022's hit first film. After taking M3GAN down, inventor Gemma (Allison Williams) and her niece Cady (Violet McGraw) now keep the M3GAN AI housed in a cutesy plastic Teletubby-like thing for safekeeping, though she sasses them constantly. Unfortunately, a defense contractor has stolen one of Gemma's early AI models for M3GAN. Named Amelia (and played by "Ahsoka" star Ivanna Sakhno), this new robot is meant to be a killer spy but it goes rogue and comes after those close to M3GAN, including Gemma and Cady. Gemma recruits M3GAN to fight Amelia, but our antiheroine wants a body that's stronger, faster, taller and more lethal than the last. (M3GAN also reiterates her promise to always protect Cady - Gemma, not so much.) The footage concludes with M3GAN and Amelia throwing down, and our girl M3GAN getting the best line: "Hold on to your vaginas." Blum and Wan also debuted the first footage from their spinoff, the more grownup "SOULM8TE," which offers up an adult version of M3GAN. "Nothing could possibly go wrong with that," Blum quipped. The erotic horror thriller stars David Rysdahl as a grieving widower who orders a sexbot named Sara (Lily Sullivan) that's designed to be the perfect partner for adults. They get hot and heavy, but Sara gets very clingy, and when her dude begins to see another woman (Claudia Doumit), things go bad for everyone involved.

Megan 2's First Trailer Is Bonkers And Amazing

Megan 2.o is set two years after the events of the original film which saw a hyper-advanced robot girl turn into a murderous machine before being mostly destroyed by her creator. Megan's AI, however, survived all that and has now been placed inside a cute little robot doll as people try to figure out if she can be trusted after all the killing. But when the creators behind the first doll learn that the tech has been stolen and used to make a deadlier version they realize they need the OG Megan's help. Here's the first official trailer for Megan 2.0, which arrives in theaters on June 27. This trailer is bonkers and I'm not even sure its a horror movie. This feels more like a sci-fi action thriller that just happens to star a popular murder bot featured in a previous horror movie. And I'm here for it. I love when horror franchises embrace wild plots and over-the-top sequels. Besides, making the evil robot the hero worked for Terminator 2, why not do it again with Megan 2.0? The first Megan made a ton of money. Off a reported budget of around $12 million, it brought in over $180 million at the worldwide box office, basically guaranteeing that it would get a sequel with a much bigger purse. I hope this new movie does even better and by the fifth film in the franchise an army of Megan bots are fighting some intergalactic war against an evil alien empire or some shit. America's favorite little murder bot deserves it.

The Boys and Evil Dead Rise stars' "twisted" new horror spin-off of M3GAN gets an off the rails first look behind closed doors

New footage from the upcoming M3GAN spin-off SOULM8TE debuted at CinemaCon and teased a new "twisted" take on the AI robot. The horror film will star Evil Dead Rise's Lily Sullivan as the lead AI Sarah in what's billed as a sci-fi erotic thriller. According to The Wrap, the first teaser begins with Sullivan's android Sarah being delivered in a large box to grieving widow David Rysdahl. "I love you," she tells him. "Nobody will ever know you like I do." Then at a later point, she's seen attacking a female rival telling her, "Don't come at me with this girl power shit." Could Sarah share some of M3GAN's murderous qualities? We'll have to wait and see. Per The Hollywood Reporter, James Wan and Jason Blum teased the upcoming horror movie on stage before the footage played. Blum teased that he and M3GAN "share a demented sensibility" meanwhile Wan suggested that, "She kicked open a door to twisted ideas we can explore together. What if we can design a perfect partner for grown-ups?" Calling the movie an "adult M3GAN", Wan joked, "What could possibly go wrong?" Ahead of the movie releasing in 2026, we're also getting a second outing of M3GAN, which will bring back the titular AI to face another rival model causing carnage.

Not only is the titular doll's new body literally stronger, faster, and taller than her previous shell, the sequel looks to be leaning into sci-fi action in a big way, offering up something much more ambitious and bombastic than its domestic horror-style predecessor. Two years on from trying to kill her creator Gemma (Allison Williams), in the name of protecting her companion Cady (Violet McGraw), M3GAN has been given a new body in the fresh flick, on the promise of protecting her human "pals" from an even more sinister android. Think Terminator 2: Judgment Day meets The Silence of the Lambs, with dance sequences and sassy one-liners thrown in for good measure. For returning director Gerard Johnstone, who brings writer Akela Cooper's script to life once again, it was a natural move to ramp everything up to 11, having seen the extreme reaction people had to M3GAN back in 2022. But with that came an added sense of pressure; could they figure out why the first movie became such a cultural phenomenon? Rebottle lightning? Johnstone dives into all that and more below, as GamesRadar+ sits down with him to chat about the wild first look at M3GAN 2.0... The following Q&A has been edited for length and clarity. GamesRadar+: The comparisons to Terminator 2 seem inevitable; there were rumors floating around before you'd even released the official synopsis. But I'm wondering what made you want to explore M3GAN as more of an anti-hero, and how early that idea came to you and co-writer Akela Cooper? Gerard Johnstone: I got an inkling from [producer] James [Wan] that he wanted to do something with another doll; that he was thinking about doing a sequel and adding in another robot. So from that, I thought, 'Oh, it could be interesting to do a M3GAN redemption story'. With M3GAN 1, the surprising thing was how many people came up to me at the premiere and said to me, 'I was onboard with M3GAN right up until the very end, the last minute.' She always seemed like a redeemable character by virtue of the fact that she was programmed to do a certain thing and she carried it out. Quite brilliantly. She obviously cared about Cady. But also, we were writing this around the same time ChatGPT came out and the whole world was changing. it was really interesting, and some of the mad things we were doing with M3GAN, giving her such a personality and all that, Chat GPT was doing the same things. Suddenly it didn't seem so far-fetched. So I guess the idea emerged from our thoughts of, 'Well, AI is not going anywhere, maybe we have to figure out a way to live with it.' I guess it's about varying shades of how "evil" an AI can be, too... Yeah. I mean, the first film was largely about parenting and how we raise our kids. With AI, it's the same thing. It's whatever you train it to be. So it was fun to flip it a little bit and put the onus on Gemma, to make her think, 'Okay, well, I brought something into the world and the second it didn't do what I wanted it to, I put it out to pasture'. So M3GAN comes back with a point of view that's worth listening to, I guess. There's a moment in the promo where Gemma is told that someone out there used her designs for M3GAN to create Amelia. What can you tease about that mystery? How central is it to the plot? Well, if you remember the first film, we had a bit of a thread to one of the minor characters trying to steal and sell M3GAN and it was kind of left hanging (laughs). So that felt like an opening; 'What if someone else did get their hands on this?' I'm not allowed to say too much but I can at least say that we're picking up that thread that was left hanging. I was really taken aback by how much bigger in scale this looks. Some of the sets in the trailer are crazy - that Tron-esque hallway! How much of that was a conscious effort? Well, the response to the first film was just so huge that doing another kind of small, domestic horror just didn't seem right. It felt like it'd be a cash-in, like, 'Let's just give everyone the same thing again'. I'm not that cynical. So it was really just a response to what I felt like fans of the first film, and people who came out in droves and supported M3GAN, wanted. I figured they'd want something on a bigger canvas, and we tried to deliver. I think there's a thing in me of always feeling like my next film could be my last if I mess it up, so I just try and fit as many genres into one before I have to go. It was awesome. Every week on set, it felt like we were making a different movie. It was discombobulating but so exciting, and certainly a challenge for everyone involved, from art department to props. It kept us on our toes. After her first shell was obliterated in the first movie, M3GAN gets a new body in 2.0. For the large majority of the trailer, though, she looks pretty much as she did before. She's gotten some upgrades in that she's faster and stronger, but she's still got the same hair and clothes etc. Did you ever toy with the idea of changing her aesthetic? We did think about different hairstyles and things like that. We're certainly changing up the outfits [in this film]. But we were conscious that if you mess with it too much, it suddenly becomes Not M3GAN. Having said that, she has a couple of different... modes in this film. The one thing about the first movie that I was a little bit disappointed with was that we didn't get the opportunity to play around... (laughs) it feels funny to be a middle-aged man saying this, but, I wanted to play dress ups! We didn't get to do that the first time around so it's cool we got to do it here. It was very touch and go, though, coming into it, wondering whether people were gonna freak out. Was the studio gonna freak out if we're changing her look? But they embraced it. M3GAN, the movie, was such a huge hit back in 2022. Do you feel a sense of pressure to top it with this one? There's always an amount of pressure, but it also felt like an opportunity. You'll never repeat that great experience of when you're flying under the radar making something that no one's expecting to be any good and it turns out that it's a pleasant surprise for a lot of people. It's really lovely when that can happen. But with this one, it was trying to... not so much fan service... but trying to anticipate the zeitgeist and the moment that M3GAN seemed to capture and trying to deliver on that. It's genre-fluid, with this film not being a straight thriller anymore. I felt like M3GAN, the character, didn't want to be put in a box so in a way, the film's the same way.

Sassy bot M3GAN dances, flies, and faces off against Ahsoka star's killing machine in horror sequel's Terminator 2-esque trailer

The first trailer for M3GAN 2.0 has finally arrived and well, it's wild. The horror hit, which cemented the titular bot as one of the genre's most iconic villains in 2022, looks to have gotten a serious upgrade, too, with the sequel embracing more of a sci-fi action-heavy tone. Unsurprisingly given the official synopsis that was released a few months back, the new flick closely resembles James Cameron's Terminator 2: Judgment Day. Released in 1991, the movie saw Arnold Schwarzenegger's cyborg face off against Robert Patrick's stony-faced T-1000 in order to save John Connor, the son of the woman he'd originally been sent to kill in its predecessor. In M3GAN 2.0, the eponymous AI is drafted in to shut down Amelia (Ahsoka's Ivanna Sakhno) after the "autonomous android" goes rogue and starts offing everyone "who contributed to her creation". Turns out a mysterious someone has used roboticist Gemma's blueprints for M3GAN to make an even deadlier machine... "How is this possible? We deleted it," Allison Williams character says in the promo shown at CinemaCon, which you can watch above. "Apparently you didn't," a special forces guy replies, as he explains that Gemma and her niece Cady (Violet McGraw) are next on Amelia's hitlist. "Nothing in our arsenal can stop her." "She's getting more powerful," M3GAN ominously whispers in another scene. "Soon she'll be the most dangerous weapon on the planet. Put me in a body and I'll help you stop her." "You remember what happened last time? You threatened to rip out my tongue and put me in a wheelchair," Gemma shouts. "I was upset!" M3GAN snaps back. This might be a team-up, but neither party has forgotten their history... M3GAN, the movie, ended with the doll being completely destroyed in a fight against Gemma and Cady. Right at the very end of the film, though, an Alexa-style device in Gemma's house looked to charge up and hint that M3GAN's consciousness lived on. In the clip, Gemma looks to have uploaded said consciousness into a "plastic Teletubby" - something that doesn't go down well with sassy M3GAN. With no other choice, Gemma and her team build M3GAN (Amie Donald, but voiced by Jenna Davis) a new shell and this time, it's much faster and stronger. Oh, yeah, and did we mention she can (kind of) fly now?

"Unbeknownst to them, the underlying tech for M3GAN has been stolen and misused by a powerful defense contractor to create a military-grade weapon known as Amelia (Ivanna Sakhno), the ultimate killer infiltration spy. But as Amelia's self-awareness increases, she becomes decidedly less interested in taking orders from humans. Or in keeping them around. With the future of human existence on the line, Gemma realizes that the only option is to resurrect M3GAN (Amie Donald, voiced by Jenna Davis) and give her a few upgrades, making her faster, stronger, and more lethal. As their paths collide, the original A.I bitch is about to meet her match." M3GAN 2.0, helmed by the original's writer and director Gerard Johnstone, arrives in theaters on May 16.

Earlier, we got a teaser for this movie, but now, we have a full-length trailer at our hands and overall, it seems like this time around, Megan will appear in a somewhat positive role. Now, one would wonder what caused this change of heart, or more appropriately, change of coding, and the answer is the rise of another bloodthirsty android named Amelia. So, without further ado, let's talk more about Megan 2.0, its release date, who's playing Amelia, and everything we saw in the trailer. Megan 2.0 is set to release on June 27, 2025. Initially, even though Megan ended on a cliffhanger, it was unclear if the movie would get a sequel, but now, its release is closer than one would have anticipated. If you ask me, the trailer does look pretty good so let's wait and see what happens. In Megan, we saw that even though Megan's body was destroyed, her consciousness was transferred into a rather harmless robot. However, according to the trailer, she is being brought back in Megan 2.0 with some upgrades to stop a rogue android made using Megan's designs named Amelia. In Megan 2.0, Amelia is being played by Ivanna Sakhno. She has appeared in popular movies and TV shows like Let is Snow, Ahsoka, and Pacific Rim Uprising. In the trailer for Megan 2.0, we see that Megan is brought back with combat-friendly upgrades, and this time, she is taller. The almost 3-minute clip tells us that a rogue android named Amelia has been created using Megan's designs, and she is coming after anyone who is involved in her creation, which makes Gemma and Katie her target, and Megan is the only one who can protect them from being killed by this bloodthirsty ripoff. Based on the trailer, it seems that this movie will pack some insane acting sequences and some pretty sassy dialogues, which, surprisingly, do not seem to be over the top, at least in the trailer. If you have been looking forward to that film, we have some good news, the first trailer has made its arrival, but the catch is that it's not nearly as freaky and unsettling as the original. M3GAN 2.0 seems to be an action film first and foremost, and we say this because the plot seems to revolve around M3GAN joining the good guys to help stave off the threat of a new competitor robot that has been going on a mega killing spree. To complete this task, M3GAN has been given a more mature upgrade, with the titular robot now taller and even deadlier, and hopefully a match for the "military grade weapon known as Amelia, the ultimate killer infiltration spy." Set to debut in June on the 27th, M3GAN 2.0 is being directed and written by Gerard Johnstone, with the original's Akela Cooper attached to the project as well. The Blumhouse CEO noted that the pair "share a demented sensibility." Wan noted of the title character in M3GAN, "She kicked open a door to twisted ideas we can explore together. What if we can design a perfect partner for grown-ups?" Wan then teased the film's "adult M3GAN," and joked, "What could possibly go wrong?" The trailer, which has not yet been publicly shared, featured Lily Sullivan as an AI-powered companion hired by a grieving man (David Rysdahl). As might be expected, the title character takes things a bit too far. "Tell me you love me," Sullivan says in the footage. "Nobody will ever know you like I do. Later, she asks, "Have I been a bad girl?" When facing off with a female rival, she quips, "Don't try that girl-power shit with me." The cast also includes Claudia Doumit. Kate Dolan (You Are Not My Mother) directed the movie from her own script, with the story credited to Wan, Ingrid Bisu and Rafael Jordan. SOULM8TE is described as an erotic thriller about a man who attempts to cope with the death of his wife by acquiring an AI android for companionship. The project was first announced in June. M3GAN hit theaters in January 2023 and surpassed $180 million at the global box office. The sequel, M3GAN 2.0, is set for theatrical release June 27. CinemaCon is the annual event for exhibitors and Hollywood studios that runs this year from March 31 to April 3. It is presented by Cinema United (formerly the National Association of Theatre Owners).

'M3GAN 2.0' Hits CinemaCon With 30 Robots Dancing to Britney Spears Hit

On the heels of a teaser trailer that dropped during February's Grammy Awards, Universal Pictures downloaded more intel on the anticipated sequel during the studio's CinemaCon presentation at Caesars Palace on Wednesday afternoon, including an extended trailer and a dance party. Blumhouse turned the reveal into a spectacle that featured 30 dancing M3GAN "dolls" performing to the iconic Britney Spears hit "Oops...I Did it Again" on the Colosseum stage. After they performed the captivating number (choreography included the well-known M3GAN dance), they exited the front of the stage and down the aisles while exhibition insiders looked on. The performance was introduced by the film's star Violet McGraw, who is back to reprise her role from the first film. "My friend Allison Williams is stuck in Atlanta shooting right now," she said of her co-star. McGraw said she believed she was alone though M3GAN "hates to not be in the spotlight" hence the surprise dance party. McGraw then had the honors of introducing the trailer. The film, a Blumhouse, Atomic Monster and Divide/Conquer production, is due for release on June 27, 2025, Williams returns as Gemma, a roboticist at a toy company who created an AI doll she named M3GAN, and McGraw returns as Cady, Gemma's niece, who is bonded to the futuristic creation until she goes on a murderous rampage. The trailer revealed that M3GAN's data had been placed inside a "plastic Teletubbie" in order to protect her from society. Cady is the one who convinces her aunt to revive M3GAN to take on Amelia and in doing so, M3GAN asks for an upgrade that makes her stronger, faster and taller. Scenes show what looks to be an epic battle between the two robots (as they are even seen flying in one point). A moment that is sure to be replayed many times, M3GAN says, "Hold onto your vaginas."
