Motorola's 2025 Moto G Stylus 5G Packs Improved AI and Cameras
I'm a Mobile Analyst at PCMag, which means I cover wireless phones, plans, tablets, ereaders, and a whole lot more. I've always loved technology and have been forming opinions on consumer electronics since childhood. Prior to joining PCMag, I covered TVs and home entertainment at CNET, served as the tech and electronics reviews fellow at Insider, and began my career by writing laptop reviews as an intern at Tom's Hardware. I am also a professional actor with credits in theater, film, and television. The Motorola Moto G Stylus 5G is back, and ready to thrill stylus lovers. The 2025 version of the company's stylus-wielding phone focuses on improvements across the board, with more AI features, a better camera module, a more visible display, and enhanced writing and drawing capabilities - all while maintaining its $399.99 price. The phone runs a Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 processor, an upgrade over the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 in last year's model. It still has 8GB of RAM, but will include up to 256GB of storage, an increase from the 128GB found on last year's Moto G Stylus. The 6.7-inch display is the same size as last year's version, but the Super HD (1220p) pOLED display on the 2025 model will come with a huge increase in screen brightness, topping out at 3,000 nits. The 2024 Moto G Stylus only reached 1,200 nits of peak brightness. The display will still come with a 120Hz refresh rate, for smooth scrolling and gaming. Motorola is upgrading the cameras for 2025, bringing a 50MP system that includes the first Sony Lytia 700C sensor found on a Moto G Stylus phone. The main camera includes optical image stabilization and is joined by a 13MP ultra-wide lens with an integrated macro lens, as well as a 32MP front camera for selfies. The stylus on the new Moto G Stylus has also improved. The company claims that it now has 6.4x more responsiveness over last year's model. This, along with the new processor and cameras, allows the phone to take advantage of improved AI features. Users can now sketch an image inside Moto Note, the phone's notetaking app, and the Sketch to Image feature will bring your drawings to life using AI. You can also use the stylus with Google's Circle to Search, which allows you to circle an image on your screen to immediately get more information about it. Google Photo's AI features are also available, so you can edit your pictures with the help of AI. The phone also comes with improved battery charging speeds. The 5,000mAh battery now supports fast wired charging at up to 68W and wireless charging at 15W. Unfortunately, you'll have to provide your own power adapter. The Moto G Stylus is also now able to handle a dip in water. The 2025 version has an IP68 rating, so it can withstand a submersion in 1.5 meters of water for up to 30 minutes. The new Moto G Stylus will be available in colors curated by Pantone, such as Gibraltar Sea and Surf the Web, as well as in what the company calls a "leather-inspired" finish. You can purchase it unlocked beginning on April 17 at Amazon.com, Bestbuy.com, and on Motorola's website, with availability at additional national retailers in the coming months.
