Nothing Phone 1's final big Android update is here
Weekend poll: Are you excited about MagSafe or Qi2 wireless charging coming to Android? Summary Nothing is updating the Phone 1 to Android 15 with new features like shared widgets and enhanced lock screen customization. Users may experience temporary warm and battery consumption issues while installing the update, but it should stabilize post-installation. The Phone 1 will not receive any more major OS updates after Android 15, only another year of security patches and potential bug fixes. โ Remove Ads Nothing dropped the ball with the Phone 1's Android 13 update, as it arrived almost six months after the public release of the OS. With Android 14-based Nothing OS 2.5, the company moved swiftly, pushing the firmware to the Phone 1 within about three months. Nothing raised its game further with the release of Android 15, already updating almost all its devices to the new OS. The Phone 1 was the only exception, but that's changing now as its Android 15 update has gone live. Related Nothing is ready to join the big leagues with its first flagship phone And it's coming in Q1 2025 Posts14 Nothing released the first Android 15-based Nothing OS 3.0 open beta for the Phone 1 in mid-December 2024. So, the company has only taken a month to push the stable update to the public. As seen on other Nothing phones, the new build will bring shared widgets, lock screen customization, and a revamped Quick Settings panel to the Phone 1. โ Remove Ads Other Android 15 features that are a part of the update include app auto archiving, partial screen recording, and predictive back animations. The Nothing team notes that your phone may get warm and consume more battery power than normal while installing the update. However, this is only temporary, and things should go back to normal once the OS completes the installation and optimization process. Close โ Remove Ads Nothing says the rollout of Nothing OS 3.0-250111-2249 for the CMF Phone 1 has begun. However, like most Android updates, the rollout is staggered, so not all users will receive the update at the same time -- though we've already received it on our unit time. This approach allows the company to monitor for early issues and quickly patch any bugs that may arise. CMF Phone 1 jumps to Android 15 while certain flagships still wait Nonetheless, it's great to see that Nothing isn't neglecting its budget smartphone and is rolling out the latest Android version for it -- unlike brands like Samsung, which has yet to release One UI 7 for even its flagship Galaxy S24 series. Samsung is hosting its Galaxy S25 series launch next week, which should give us a clearer timeline for its Android 15 rollout for Galaxy devices. CMF Phone 1 The CMF Phone 1 is the first phone from Nothing's budget brand, CMF. While the phone packs impressive specs for its price, it stands out even further with its unique design, which includes a replaceable backplate.
