OnePlus Nord 5 Review
OnePlus Nord 5 is equipped with a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC The handset packs a 6,800mAh battery The OnePlus Nord 5 features up to 12GB of RAM, 512GB of storage The OnePlus Nord 5, the company's latest mid-range smartphone, has arrived as the successor to the OnePlus Nord 4, which was introduced a year ago. This handset brings some notable improvements over its predecessor, including a more capable Snapdragon 8 series chipset and slightly better cameras. However, the mid-range segment is extremely competitive, especially around the Rs. 30,000 mark, with noteworthy rivals like the Poco F7, Motorola Edge 60 Pro, Samsung Galaxy A36 5G, iQOO Neo 10R, and the Nothing Phone 3a Pro. Priced at Rs. 31,999 for the base model with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, the OnePlus Nord 5 is also available with 12GB of RAM in 256GB and 512GB storage variants, which cost Rs. 34,999 and Rs. 37,999, respectively. In this review, let's look at whether the handset is worth its asking price or whether it falls short of my expectations. The OnePlus 13s that arrived last month are no longer the only handset from the company to feature the new Plus Key. This new button, located on the left edge of the phone, replaces OnePlus' alert slider, and it has its own advantages and disadvantages. You can remap it to perform various functions, including launching the Plus Mind feature, which we covered in our OnePlus 13s review. However, it's also easy to invoke the Plus Key, if it's facing downwards while you're playing games. While its predecessor featured an aluminium chassis (that we really liked), the OnePlus Nord 5 has a glass rear panel with plastic edges, and the Marble Sands finish that the company sent us for this review looks rather nice. It's a little slippery to hold, so I used the TPU cover that ships with the phone to keep it protected. The phone has a 6.83-inch screen, and it occasionally requires both hands to use (I have considerably large hands). The OnePlus Nord 5 features a 6,800mAh battery, but you wouldn't be able to tell by looking at the phone, which doesn't feel too heavy. Both the power and volume rocker were easy to reach with my thumb, but the Plus Key is out of reach when using the phone with one hand. The top of the phone has an infrared transmitter that can control various appliances, while the bottom edge houses a speaker, the SIM tray, and a USB Type-C port. The OnePlus Nord 5 runs on OxygenOS 15, which is based on Android 15. This is the same software that runs on the company's flagship OnePlus 13, and it also offers support for some AI features that were unveiled alongside the OnePlus 13s. This phone is slated to receive four years of OS upgrades and six years of security updates, which means it is expected to receive an upgrade to Android 19. I received the 12GB+256GB configuration of the OnePlus Nord 5, and it's very optimised when it comes to day-to-day usage. Animations are snappy, and the handset keeps apps and games in memory, even after you switch to four or five other apps, which is good to see. The handset prompted me to install some third-party apps during the setup process, including Amazon and Candy Crush: Saga, but it allowed me to deselect these apps. The new Plus Key on the OnePlus Nord 5 can be used to launch the company's new OnePlus AI suite of features. This includes the new Plus Mind functionality, which saves contextual information from screenshots whenever the Plus Key is pressed. While it doesn't always detect actionable content, some suggestions are quite handy, such as adding calendar events when a date is detected. AI features from the OnePlus 13s are also available on the Nord 5 Other OnePlus AI features, such as AI VoiceScribe, AI Call Assistant, and AI Translation, are also supported on the OnePlus Nord 5. I've covered these apps and how they work when I reviewed the OnePlus 13s, and these are the same features available on that handset. You can use it to store information from apps, translate web pages using a pop-up menu, and get summaries of your calls using the new VoiceScribe feature. OnePlus states that it will utilise the company's Private Compute Cloud to safeguard user information provided to access AI features within a trusted and isolated framework. You also get support for Circle to Search with AI Overviews on Google and access to Google Gemini on the OnePlus Nord 5. This is the first Nord-series smartphone from the company to be equipped with a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset, and it is a notable upgrade over the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 that powered last year's Nord 4 model. It's an octa-core chip with up to 3GHz clock speed, and it is built using TSMC's 4nm process technology. Left to right: AnTuTu v10, PCMark Work 3.0, Geekbench 6 (tap to expand) OnePlus says that the company used a chip launched in 2024 on the Nord 5 after it worked with the company to support 144Hz OLED screens and support for faster framerates in specific games. While this might be the case, I suspect the real reason why this phone doesn't ship with the newer Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 SoC (like the Poco F7) is that it would offer faster performance than the more expensive OnePlus 13R, which runs on a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. The Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 on the OnePlus Nord 5 is no slouch, though. It can run any CPU and graphics intensive app or game, including editing and exporting 4K videos, or playing games like Wuthering Waves and Call of Duty: Mobile. OxgenOS feels optimised, and I didn't experience any stuttering or lag during the time I spent testing the phone. Left to right: PCMark Work 3.0 Battery, GFXBench 5.1, 3DMark (tap to expand) Here's a quick comparison of the OnePlus Nord 5 with other similarly priced handsets, to see how it performs in synthetic benchmark tests: There's a 6.83-inch Full-HD+ (1,272×2,800 pixels) AMOLED screen with up to 144Hz refresh rate on the OnePlus Nord 5, which is a step up from last year's model. OnePlus says the display supports up to 1,800nits peak brightness, and visibility is good while outdoors. It also gets quite dim at night, without causing eye strain. I switch all the phones I use to a "standard" display colour mode, and the panel on the OnePlus Nord 5 delivers less vibrant (but more accurate) colours. The handset's display also features Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection, but I recommend using it with the included cover to prevent damage to the rear panel. I spent nearly a month testing the cameras on the OnePlus Nord 5, and the 50-megapixel primary camera is the most capable one on the handset. It allows you to click images at 1x and 2x (the latter is an in-sensor crop) zoom levels, and supports optical image stabilisation (OIS). Top to bottom: Rear camera samples at 1x (primary), 2x (in-sensor crop) zoom (Tap to expand) During the day, the OnePlus Nord 5 captures bright and detailed shots, and the colours are captured accurately. There's no noticeable delay when the capture button is pressed, and images are saved instantly. This is the same Sony LYT-700 primary sensor on the OnePlus 13s, and it offers the same level of sharpness at 2x zoom for subjects that are slightly further away. In low-light scenarios, it captures decent shots as long as your subject stays still. There's a lot of detail, even when you zoom in. The built-in night mode captures images in just over a second, and it can be turned off for faster shots. Top to bottom: Ultrawide camera samples, a selfie and a portrait shot (Tap to expand) The ultrawide camera on the OnePlus Nord 5 also offers decent performance during the day, with minimal warping at the edges. Low light performance isn't as good as the primary camera, but these shots are still quite usable as long as your subject isn't moving. For video recording, you may want to stick with the primary camera on the OnePlus Nord 5, which allows you to record at 4K/60fps. However, if you want to enable Ultra Steady mode, it drops to 1080p/30fps, which is also the maximum resolution supported by the ultrawide camera. There's a 50-megapixel selfie camera on the Nord 5, with a Samsung ISOCELL JN5 sensor. It's excellent for capturing images and videos, and the face smoothening features are turned off by default. It also allows you to capture videos at 4K/60fps or 1080p/30fps, if you prefer to use the Ultra Steady mode. OnePlus has equipped the Nord 5 with a considerably large single-cell 6,800mAh battery, which is an upgrade over the 5,500mAh cell on its predecessor. Alongside the efficient Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chip, this battery can deliver up to a day and a half of usage. During the time that I spent using the smartphone, this included three hours of gaming, a lot of scrolling through social media, watching videos on YouTube, and texting on WhatsApp. OnePlus Nord 5 delivers over a day and a half of battery life on a single charge The handset lasted for 27 hours and 15 minutes during our HD video battery loop test, and for 14 hours and 26 minutes during the PCMark Work 3.0 battery life benchmark. This is a synthetic test, and real-world battery usage will vary based on your usage. The OnePlus Nord 5 takes about 58 minutes to 63 minutes for a full charge, when connected to the included 80W SuperVOOC charging adapter. With meaningful upgrades over its predecessor, the OnePlus Nord 5 is one of the better options to pick from, if you're looking to spend around Rs. 30,000 on your next smartphone. It offers reliable CPU and camera performance, and long-lasting battery life, along with support for fast charging. I miss the all-metal design of the OnePlus Nord 4, but the newest model offers enough in terms of upgrades around the same price. The OnePlus Nord 5offers decent value for a smartphone around the Rs. 30,000 mark The Poco F7 is the biggest rival to the OnePlus Nord 5, and it is equipped with a more powerful Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chip and a larger 7,550mAh battery. However, I would recommend waiting for our review of the handset to see whether its camera performance is comparable to the Nord 5. Other handsets worth considering in this price segment include the Motorola Edge 60 Pro, the iQOO Neo 10, the Vivo V50 (Review), and the Samsung Galaxy A36. You can also consider the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE, which frequently drops under the Rs. 35,000 mark.

OnePlus Nord CE 5 Review
The OnePlus Nord series brings some features seen on the company's higher-end smartphones to the midrange segment, along with incremental hardware upgrades over last year's models. This year, the OnePlus Nord CE 5 has arrived with a more powerful processor and a much larger battery than last year's Nord CE 4 model. The handset is also equipped with some OnePlus AI software features. It competes with phones like the iQOO Z10, Motorola Edge 60 Fusion, Infinix GT 30 Pro, and Vivo T4 in India. The new OnePlus Nord CE 5 is priced at Rs. 24,999, for the base model with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. There's a 256GB storage variant that costs Rs. 26,999. However, if you want a variant with more RAM, there's a 12GB+256GB model that is priced at Rs. 28,999. These prices are on par with other midrange smartphones with similar specifications, but how does the OnePlus Nord CE 5 fare against the competition? Read our OnePlus Nord CE 5 review to find out. The OnePlus Nord CE 5 review unit that the company sent us is bluish, and it looks good at various angles. The rear panel and edges are made of plastic. Like its predecessor, the handset has a dual rear camera island located in the top left corner of the rear panel, but the LED flash is now located to the right of the camera module. The OnePlus Nord CE 5 has a rear-mounted infrared (IR) transmitter OnePlus has equipped this handset with a single speaker, which is at the bottom edge of the phone, next to the USB Type-C port and the SIM tray. There's a selfie camera located in the top centre of the 6.77-inch screen on the OnePlus Nord CE 5, which has very slim bezels. The volume rocker and power button are located on the right edge of the handset. There's no alert slider or Plus Key on the left edge. While the OnePlus Nord 5 has an infrared transmitter on the top edge, it is located between the two rear cameras on the Nord CE 5, so the rear panel must face the appliance you want to control. The phone ships with a matching TPU cover, a charger, and a SIM ejector tool. Like its more capable sibling, the OnePlus Nord CE 5 runs on Android 15, and it has the company's OxygenOS 15 skin running on top. The phone will receive operating system upgrades for four years and security updates for six years, according to OnePlus. This is pretty good for a handset in this price segment. The Nord CE 5 also offers support for some AI features available on both the Nord 5 and the OnePlus 13s. The version of OxygenOS 15 on the OnePlus Nord CE 5 is smooth and responsive, and it didn't have issues with more than six apps running in the background. Switching between apps is smooth, and the only time I noticed a bit of stuttering was while using the phone outside on a hot day, while using GPS navigation on Google Maps. I saw a prompt to install Amazon, Cred, and Candy Crush Saga during the setup process. If you forgot to deselect those boxes, you can uninstall these apps after setting up the phone. I didn't notice any other unwanted apps or bloatware on the phone. It offers the same software experience as the more expensive OnePlus Nord 5. The Nord CE 5 offers support for new OnePlus AI features You can also access new OnePlus AI features on the Nord CE 5. Unlike the OnePlus 13s and the new Nord 5, there's no Plus Key to invoke the AI-powered quick save feature. Instead, you must swipe up using three fingers to trigger the same action. The phone also offers a VoiceScribe feature that gives you a summary of recorded calls, and a screen-scanning translate feature that is mostly reliable (I've included a sample screenshot). The Dimensity 8350 Apex SoC on the OnePlus Nord CE 5 is a rebadged version of the same chip that was launched by MediaTek last November, and it offers a notable jump in performance over the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 on the Nord CE 4. If Geekbench scores are any indication, the Nord CE 5 offers 9 percent and 25 percent better single-core and multi-core CPU performance, respectively. Left to right: AnTuTu v10, PCMark Work 3.0, Geekbench 6 (tap to expand) While you won't see these performance improvements if you use both phones for day-to-day tasks, the faster chip on the Nord CE 5 should offer better long-term performance as apps demand more resources in the future. The phone can handle almost everything you throw at it, from editing 4K videos to running a variety of popular apps, and it feels as reliable as its more expensive sibling, the OnePlus Nord 5. I tested Call of Duty: Mobile, BGMI (with the graphics set to HD, Ultra), and Asphalt Legends Unite on the OnePlus Nord CE 5, and gameplay was smooth and lag-free, even after about 40 minutes of uninterrupted gaming. Like the Nord 5, you can also use bypass charging without pausing your game when the battery runs low. Left to right: PCMark Work 3.0 Battery, GFXBench 5.1, 3DMark (tap to expand) Here's how the OnePlus Nord CE 5 fared on benchmark tests like Geekbench, 3DMark, AnTuTu, PCMark, and GFXBench. You can also see how the phone fares against the Vivo T4, Nothing Phone 3a, and Motorola Edge 60 Fusion. OnePlus has equipped the Nord CE 5 with a 6.77-inch (1,080×2,392 pixels) OLED screen with a refresh rate that switches between 60Hz and 120Hz, and up to 300Hz touch sampling rate. It is Widevine L1 certified, which means that you can watch HD and HDR content on Netflix and Prime Video. I chose the Cinematic display colour mode when setting up the OnePlus Nord CE 5, but you can also select the Standard or Vivid colour modes for more muted and saturated alternatives, respectively. The OnePlus Nord CE 5 can be used even in bright outdoor conditions, and the display is very responsive, even when I used the phone with wet hands. OnePlus has equipped the Nord CE 5 with a 6.77-inch display It's best to turn off the ProXDR setting in the Photos app, though, as it tends to apply additional effects while viewing images stored on your phone. If you keep this feature enabled, you will see a different result (the original image) when viewing the same photos on another device, like your computer. The primary camera features the same Sony IMX600 as last year's Nord CE 4, capturing sharp images during the day. I didn't notice any extra saturation or exposure issues in most scenarios. Images with a lot of blue do tend to be a little more vibrant than the original subjects, but I quite like how the images turned out in general. Photos taken at night are also quite decent, but you will need to ensure that your subject stays still until the image is captured. Top to bottom: Rear camera samples at 1x (primary), 2x (in-sensor crop) zoom (Tap to expand) It also supports a 2x zoom mode (in-sensor crop), allowing you to zoom in on subjects that are slightly further away. When capturing portraits, the 1x mode lets you switch between 26mm and 35mm focal lengths, while the 2x zoom mode is locked to 51mm. In low-light scenarios, this phone's built-in night mode offers performance that is on par with the more advanced sensor on the OnePlus Nord 5, for subjects that aren't moving quickly. You also get an ultrawide camera with an OV08D10 sensor, and it captures sharp 8-megapixel images during the day, albeit with some warping at the edges in some shots. Colours are mostly consistent with the ones captured using the primary camera. At night, images captured with this camera lack detail, leaving the handset's camera algorithms to deal with noise and poor colour reproduction. It is also considerably slower than the primary camera at capturing images, so it's best to switch to the primary camera for night shots. Top to bottom: Ultrawide camera samples, a selfie and a portrait shot (Tap to expand) The selfie camera (Sony IMX480) on the OnePlus Nord CE 5 delivers high-quality selfies, and it doesn't apply any "beauty" features by default. During the day, it captures images with a lot of detail, while there's some smoothening on selfies in low-light scenarios, as well as on portrait images (2x) taken with the primary camera. The man camera supports optical image stabilisation (OIS) at up to 1080p/30fps. If you don't want to use the Ultra Steady mode, you can record video at 4K/ 60fps. The ultrawide camera supports up to 1080p/ 30fps video recording, but there's no OIS. The selfie camera can capture up to 1080p/60fps video, which is limited to 1080p/30fps in Ultra Steady mode. Smartphone batteries continue to increase in size, and the Nord CE 5 boasts a notably large 7,100mAh battery. This is one of the largest batteries to debut in a smartphone in 2025. In combination with the efficient Dimensity 8350 chipset, the handset consistently delivered at least two days of battery life on a single charge during my testing period. It took just over an hour (between 65 and 68 minutes) to fully charge the OnePlus Nord CE 5 using the included 80W SuperVOOC charger. The handset lasted for 27 hours and 10 minutes during our HD video battery loop test, and 17 hours and 44 minutes during the PCMark Work 3.0 battery test. As we regularly point out in our reviews, these are synthetic tests performed in controlled conditions, and real-world battery life will vary based on your usage. The OnePlus Nord CE 5 offers improved performance and better battery life than its predecessor, while also providing a mostly reliable set of cameras. The phone is also slated to receive four years of OS upgrades and five years of security updates. Additionally, it offers useful AI features, although it lacks the Plus Key available on the OnePlus Nord 5. The slightly lacklustre ultrawide camera and the lack of stereo speakers are slightly disappointing to see in this price segment. The biggest rivals of the OnePlus Nord 5 in the same price segment include the Motorola Edge 60 Fusion (Review), Nothing Phone 3a (Review), Infinix GT 30 Pro 5G, and Vivo T4 5G (Review), and it's worth reading our reviews of these handsets before purchasing your next smartphone.

OnePlus Nord 5 5G Review: Nord Goes Premium
OnePlus Nord 5 5G has finally come to India. The Nord series has always been one that is seen as an entry to the OnePlus ecosystem at an affordable price. No one looks at a OnePlus Nord phone and thinks it is premium. Yes, the Nord 4 was amazing, strong build and unique design, but it still doesn't look like an out and out premium. But in 2025, the OnePus Nord 5 does. Let me tell you about the phone. OnePlus Nord 5 5G's design is what stood out to me. The moment you take it out of the box, you know you have a solid looking premium phone in your hands. The symmetry of bezels, the flat display, the choice of finish and the colours on the back, and the metal sides, all make for a beautiful phone. Not going to lie, but I will long remember the Nord 5 for its design. The Plus Key is a new for a Nord phone. In fact, this is only the second phone in the country apart from OnePlus 13s which comes with a customisable button on the left, which is the Plus Key. The camera bump is particularly pronounced and the bump is layered with the same colour metal covering, which is a good design decision in hindsight. No matter from which angle, you will see a premium phone. To be honest, the pricing doesn't disappoint. Because this is not just a performance oriented phone, it is also design oriented, and that's something OnePlus should be given credit for. OnePlus Nord 5 5G has a large 6.83-inch 1.5K Swift AMOLED screen with a refresh rate of up to 144Hz, making it the smoothest OnePlus display yet. The peak brightness supported by the phone is 1800nits. This is cool. One of the best things about the display is the support for 3840Hz PWM dimming. Watching content when the room is dim is so comfortable because of this. I like the display, honestly. I set the screen to 144Hz refresh rate, and then also fixed the resolution to the highest mode. I don't have to worry about battery with this one as there's a massive battery inside (more details on it below). OnePlus has not forgotten to add the Aqua Touch 2.0 support on the display of Nord 5. This allows users to use the display, even with wet fingers. The display doesn't work, it runs. It is "buttery smooth" and the Trinity Engine ensures that animations work consistently. The display is right where any device should be in this price range (more price details). The other thing that I must mention about the display from a design perspective is the bezels. The symmetry is just mindblowing. It is really satisfying to look at. There's actually so much more that I can say about the display because of the intricate small settings present, but we will leave it to this here. The Nord 5 packs the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor. In the Geekbench tests that I ran, the device scored 1926 in single core performance and 4904 in multi-core performance. The AnTuTu score came at 1,411,1756 or 1.41 million, which is decent. OnePlus claims it to be slightly higher than this, but I don't really mind as these tests are just benchmarks, the real is always slightly different. For the first time, there's Open Canvas support in a Nord device. Open Canvas is OnePlus's productivity tool which allows users to multi-task conveniently. Of course, when we talk about performance, we will have to talk about AI (artificial intelligence), battery, and overall software along with gaming. Let's take it one by one. In AI, OnePlus has brought the OnePlus AI Suite that it announced with the OnePlus 13s to the Nord 5. There's the Plus Key which will allow users to access Mind Space on the go. If you don't know what OnePlus's Mind Space is, we will tell you more about it in the future via videos or articles, so stay tuned for that. Features like AIVoiceScribe, AI Call Assistant, and more are available for users to leverage. The OnePlus Nord 5 has a 6800mAh battery. This is much larger than what you get in the OnePlus 13. The battery is supported by 80W SUPERVOOC charging. It charges fast, and lasts long. It naturally has to. The Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 is quite efficient too. To ensure things go fast, there's LPDDR5X RAM. Gaming is one area no one wants to compromise on. The OnePlus Nord 5, in fact, supports gaming at 144fps with titles such as CODM, BGMI, and more. I don't think I care after a certain point whether it is 120Hz or 144Hz, but the device is pretty smooth in the gaming department. It has a 7300mm Cryo-Velocity VC cooling chamber, yet, the device does get hot sometimes. But it also cools down pretty quickly. The users can enable Bypass charging also when they are on extended gaming sessions with the phone. This allows the device to stay cool and the battery health also doesn't get affected. The OxygenOS 15 is simply brilliant. There are actually more things I want to cover about the phone in the performance segment, but not like this, and not here. I will share more details on network connectivity, and other things about the device soon. So stay tuned for that. The camera is good. It is good enough to be honest. There's up to 20x zoom available. The phone does the job when it comes to clicking photos and taking videos. The front camera is also pretty accurate in taking colours, but of course, there are some touch ups, which you can disable. Camera samples don't come out really great when shared here on the website because they get compressed. However, you can still take a look and understand what you get with the camera. I wouldn't recommend this for taking zoom shots. But you can't really expect more than this at this price. Rating - 8/10 OnePlus Nord 5 is a pretty great phone. The pricing details are as follows: There's a Rs 2,000 discount with select bank cards on this device along with lifetime display warranty. The phone will get four Android OS updates and six years of security updates. It definitely makes for a good purchase for the long run. Whether you are a gamer, a student, or a professional, this phone can get your things done for you. Stay tuned for more details about the phone in the future.

OnePlus Nord 5 Review: Complete mid-range package
OnePlus launched its most expected OnePlus Nord 5 smartphone in India today. This goes back to the traditional design after a change to full metal body in the Nord 4. There is a bigger 144Hz screen, faster Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC, a huge 6800mAh battery and cameras. Is this worth the price? Let us dive into the review and find out. The OnePlus Nord 5 sports a 6.83-inch (2772×1240 pixels) 1.5K AMOLED display with 144Hz adaptive refresh rate, 3000Hz instant touch response and 450 PPI. The display is bright since it has up to 1800 nits peak brightness. It offers good colour output since it has 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, and the sunlight legibility is good as well. You can select from vivid, Natural and Pro screen colour modes. Nature tone display adjusts the display based on the ambient lighting conditions. The phone has a 3,840Hz high-frequency dimming technology. In dark environments where DC dimming can't work, the phone will automatically switch to PWM dimming mode to maintain accurate colors on display with a more comfortable eye experience. There is Aqua Touch Aqua that uses HyperTouch algorithm for even smoother touch experience even when the hands are wet. It has Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection. The phone also has HDR 10 support, which works for YouTube and Netflix. There is always-on-display that shows contextual info and notifications all day or as per schedule. The phone has a tiny punch-hole that houses a new 50-megapixel aufocous camera. Above the display, there is an earpiece on the top edge that doubles up as a secondary speaker. It has an in-display optical fingerprint scanner. Coming to the button placements and ports, the power button is present on the right side along with the volume rockers. The alert slider has been replaced by the new, customizable Plus Key. The Dual SIM slot, primary microphone, USB Type-C 2.0 port and the loudspeaker grill are present on the bottom. The secondary microphone is on the top, along with a speaker vent and the IR blaster. The Marble Sands colour that we have inspired by sunlit beaches and has platinum white shimmers subtly with every shine of light, capturing the beauty of natural movement, said the company. It also comes in Dry Ice colour with blue reminiscent of glacial refections on ocean surfaces, cool, calm, and refreshingly pure. The Phantom Grey has a matte black finish infused with depth and confidence, said OnePlus. The phone has IP65 ratings for dust and splash resistance. The phone weighs 211g, which is heavier than the Nord 4, but considering the huge 6800mAh battery, this is fine. The camera UI in the OxygenOS 15 is familiar. There is Pro mode, Panorama, Macro, Slo-mo, Time-Lapse, Dual-View video, tilt-shift and more. The rear camera offers 12.5MP output after pixel binning, and the front camera images are 50MP in size. This uses the same HDR algorithm as the OnePlus 13 series. Daylight shots came out well, thanks to the large 50MP sensor, and the dynamic range is better with auto HDR. Zoom is good even in 4x mode, but the quality reduces when you zoom further. The portrait shots are good as well. The night mode is useful, but it takes a few seconds to process. There is also a tripod mode. The 8MP ultra-wide camera is decent, there is also 3.5cm macro option from ultra-wide, but the quality is much better with main camera closeup shots, even though you can't go too close with it. The 50MP autofocus front camera does a brilliant job preserving a lot of details. Edge detection is good as well in portrait shots from the front camera. Overall, the camera is a huge improvement from the Nord 4. Check out the camera samples. It can record videos in up to 4K in 60fps from the front and rear cameras. There is slow motion 1080p at 120fps, but Portrait video mode video with the main camera and d ultra-steady mode are limited to 1080p at 30 fps. There is OIS and EIS which does decent job. The OnePlus Nord 5 runs Android 15 based OxygenOS 15 out of the box. It has Android security patch for June 2025. The phone will get 4 Android updates and 6 years of security updates, similar to the predecessor. OxygenOS 15 offers redesigned icons, new design elements, Parallel Processing, reduction in system storage, AI features such as AI Detail Boost, AI Unblur and AI Reflection Eraser. The Intelligent Search is an AI-powered feature that leverages natural language processing, allowing you to search across apps like Settings, Files, and Notes using simple, everyday language. There is open canvas that lets you use 3 apps on a single screen. There is circle to search. You also get OxygenOS 15 bring AI Notes feature that automatically organizes notes, highlights key points, and enhances readability. It can expand or reduce content, adjust formality, and even correct grammar errors. Apart from the usual set of OnePlus apps and Google apps, it comes with several pre-loaded with Netflix, Facebook, PhonePe, and LinkedIn, which can be uninstalled, but come back once the phone is reset. The IR remote app is useful. Out of 12GB LPDDR5X RAM, you get 11.03 of usable RAM, and about 5GB of RAM is free when default apps are running in the background. It also has DRE or dynamic RAM expansion feature, which uses the built-in storage as RAM. This has up to 12GB of additional RAM expansion. Out of 256GB UFS 3.1 storage, you get about 219.77GB of free storage. At least the 256GB version of the Nord 4 had UFS 4.0 storage, so this is a downgrade. The new Plus Key that was first introduced with the OnePlus 13s lets you switch between ring, vibrate, and silent modes. Additionally, customization allows for quick access to features like the camera, translation, or flashlight. You can also set it to launch AI Plus Mind, which saves your content so that you can access them later. It lets users save and organize important on-screen information -- such as events, bookings, or listings -- into a dedicated Mind Space, helping avoid information overload. Beyond simple saving, AI Plus Mind uses artificial intelligence to understand the context of saved content. For example, it can pull event details from an image or message and add them directly to the user's calendar. Using AI Search, users will be able to locate saved content through natural language questions. It has an in-display fingerprint sensor that unlocks the phone quickly, and it has an optical fingerprint scanner. You can add up to 5 fingerprints. You can also use the fingerprint for app local and payments in apps. Furthermore, you can change the fingerprint animation and also disable it, and also enable quick launch option to launch apps directly from the lock screen by holding the fingerprint. The phone also has face unlock feature. YouTube Music is the default Music Player. It doesn't have Dolby Atmos, but has OReality Audio with customizable Smart, Movie, Game and Music modes. It doesn't have FM Radio support. Audio through the stereo speakers is good without any distortion even in full volume. Audio through earphones is good as well. This has Widevine L1, so that you can play HD content on Netflix and other streaming apps. It supports HDR content on YouTube, and Netflix. The OnePlus Nord 5 has support for n1/n3/n5/n8/n28/n38/n40/n41/n66/n77/n78 Network Bands in India. It has 5.5G, which is 5GA and 5G VONR for Jio. There is also 4G Wi-Fi, VoLTE and Carrier Aggregation. Other connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6 802.11 ax (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 5.4, Navic, GPS, GLONASS, BDS, Galileo, QZSS. It has OTG support, and NFC support. The phone has redesigned antenna architecture with three additional high performance antennas dedicated to 5G and Wi-Fi connectivity, said the company. Moving on, the call quality is good, and we did not face any call drops and the earpiece volume was loud. The Clear Voice feature automatically blocks background noise in calling apps. It has stock dialer with call recording, AI call assistant and AI translation in 29 languages. The OnePlus Nord 5's body SAR is 0.895W/Kg and head SAR is at 1.182/Kg, which is well under the limit of 1.6 W/kg (over 1 g) in India. The phone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC, which is a minor upgrade compared to 7+ Gen 3 in the Nord 4. It uses the same microarchitecture as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, but the CPU cores are underclocked and this uses a different GPU. It uses 1 x Kryo Prime CPU (Arm Cortex-X4 based) at up to 3GHz, 4 x Kryo Performance CPUs (Arm Cortex-A720 based) at up to 2.8GHz and 3x Kryo Efficiency CPUs (Arm Cortex-A520 based) at up to 2GHz. The SoC is fabricated using the TSMC 4nm Process Technology, same as Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The phone has 7,300 mm² VC cooling system and the total heat dissipation area is 32207 mm². The Adreno 735 GPU has Real-time Hardware-Accelerated Ray Tracing, but it doesn't have support for Unreal Engine 5 Lumen Global Illumination and Reflections System present in the 8 Gen 3 since there is change in the GPU which offers similar performance as the Adreno GPU present in the 8 Gen 2. We did not face any issues or frame drops in the graphic-intensive games like COD, BGMI and Genshin Impact. It supports 144 fps gaming in COD Mobile natively, and in BGMI, and Free Fire when you enable Adaptive Frame Booster. In BGMI Ultra HDR + Ultra works. In 3D Mark wild life stress test, it scored 83.1% which is good, and is way better than the Nord 4. The temperature shot up from 33 to 46 degrees, which is decent. That said, check out some synthetic benchmark scores below. As you can see, the CPU performance is not much different from the Nord 4, but the GPU performance is better. Coming to the battery life, the phone packs a 6800mAh (typical) graphite battery, which can easily last for a day even with heavy use. I got over 7 hours of screen on time with over 2 days of use, mostly on Wi-Fi, and occasional 5G use with Smart refresh rate. This is way better than the OnePlus Nord 4. Since the phone has support for 80W fast charging, it can charge up to 50% in about 20 minutes and up to 100% in less than an hour. You will have to enable fast charging option if you want to reduce the charging time, but the phone gets a bit hot. The phone also comes with Bypass Charging, which directly powers the phone instead of the battery, reducing heating and allowing for extended gaming sessions without the need to worry about the battery or overheating. The phone doesn't have wireless charging support. At a starting price of Rs. 31,999, the OnePlus Nord 5 is an all-rounder for the price, and stands out from the rest when it comes with performance combined with the camera quality and battery. As usual, the Indian model gets an improved 50MP front camera, which is an excellent move from OnePlus. At the end of the day, if you are fine with the lack of metal frame, this is worth the price. The latest POCO F7 offers better performance, bigger battery, and has better build if you can compromise on the camera. The iQOO Neo 10 at a slightly higher price is also a good option. The OnePlus Nord 5 is priced at Rs. 31,999 for the 8GB + 256GB model, the 12GB + 256GB model costs Rs. 34,999 and the top-end 12GB + 512GB model is priced at Rs. 37,999. With launch offers, the effective starting price is Rs. 29,999. It will be available from Amazon.in, OnePlus.in, OnePlus Store App, as well as mainline stores such as OnePlus Experience Stores, and partner stores starting from 9th July 2025, 12 PM onwards.
