Former TV powerhouse Panasonic is back in the US with three new 4K TVs
Can Panasonic recapture its former American glory? The company says it's 'back and better than ever'. Nearly a decade ago, Panasonic plasma TVs were some of the best around. While the sets have been absent from the American market for quite a few years, they have stayed on the market in other countries and still generally ranked well. Panasonic is apparently looking to recapture some of its former glory, as it has announced a return to the United States television market. Also: Your Roku TV is about to get a new premium feature - for free "(Re)Introducing Panasonic 4K televisions," the company's site says, adding a tag of "We're back and better than ever" above its new television models. Three sets, which will run on the Amazon Fire OS, are a part of Panasonic's new lineup: the premium Z95A, the core Z85A, and the mini-LED W95A. Available in a 65" model for $3,199.99, the Z95A is the most premium of the bunch. It's an OLED display powered by the HCX Pro AI Processor, which automatically adjusts the picture and sound settings based on what you're watching. It has support for HDR10+ and Dolby Vision/Dolby Vision IQ HDR, plus a 144Hz refresh rate, and Game Control Board for fine-tuning your gaming settings, and an always-on microphone for voice controls. This set also has a micro-lens-array for improved brightness, something the rest of the lineup doesn't have. Also: This Sony Bravia is my pick for the best TV for the money in 2024 One of the most impressive things about this TV is the audio. While many TVs don't focus on sound, the Z95A has a built-in array tuned by Technics at the bottom with both up-firing and side-firing speakers for a "360 Soundscape Pro" experience. At 160 watts total and 7 channels plus a mono woofer, this is one of the better TV speaker systems you'll see. Available in a 55" size for $1,599.99 and a 65" size for $1,799.99, the Z85A is the base model of Panasonic's lineup. It's an OLED that runs on the HCX Pro AI Processor, but it doesn't have the micro-lens-array for better brightness. It has a 144Hz refresh rate, support for HDR10+ and Dolby Vision/Dolby Vision IQ HDR, and dedicated gaming controls, but it doesn't have the always-on microphone. One major loss is that the Z85A doesn't have as robust a built-in speaker setup as the Z95A. It still has a 50-watt two-channel system with mono woofer, though, which is better than many other options. The W95A mini-LED has the most size options, from 55" to 85" and starts at $1,299.99. It runs on the HCX Pro AI Processor MK II processor, has a dedicated gaming mode and 144Hz refresh rate, support for both HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, and has the same speaker setup as the Z85A. The main difference is that the mini-LED display will be brighter than the Z95A, which means it will likely lose some darker black colors. Also: Changing these 5 settings can instantly improve your TV picture quality The new offerings are available for preorder from retail locations including Amazon. Panasonic said they should also be available for preorder at Costco.com.

Panasonic TVs Are Finally Coming Back to the U.S. After Nearly a Decade
The return of Panasonic to the U.S. market includes two OLED models and a mini-LED, but the flagship Z95A includes impressive directional audio coming from multiple front, side, and up-firing speakers. It's been almost ten years since LCD video killed the plasma video star. The legacy Japanese electronics brand Panasonic is trying to remind U.S. consumers of a time when it still made televisions for the North American market. The company’s back now with two new OLED models and a mini-LED offering. At the top end, the Z95A OLED is kicking in Panasonic’s audio know-how, integrating a suite of side speakers and directional audio that sounds impressive enough in person; I wonder why the company doesn’t just outright say you don’t even need a soundbar. It’s not like consumers have had a lack of choice for TVs in Panasonic’s eight-year absence, not when there are budget TVs from Vizio, Hisense, and TCL alongside pricey brands, including LG, Sony, and Samsung, to choose from. It’s a more competitive market than when it left, but Panasonic does seem to be bringing its A-game with this release. The newly-announced W95A mini-LED and the Z85A OLED are trying to take on the OLEDs and QLEDs with support for HDR10, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision. If you feel like you’ve heard about the Z95A before, it’s because the legacy Japanese tech company debuted it at CES earlier this year. The Z95A packs a 360-degree sound suite called 360 Soundscape Pro, a front array, upward and side speakers alongside a subwoofer. Panasonic put me through a demo of all their TVs, and while the picture quality was plenty good, what really impressed me was the base sound quality you get without any extra work of setting up a soundbar. The software built into the TV allows users to set the direction of their audio toward a specific spot in the room. That could prove very useful for anyone hard of hearing. Otherwise, the other two models on offer contain surround sound and subwoofers, though not the same sound levels as the flagship. The flagship OLED uses a microlens array to push brightness. It’s essentially a layer of micro convex lenses on top of the OLED layer, which should result in a brighter display with better color accuracy. The company wants to compare the brightness settings on its flagship to the popular LG C3 and Sony’s mini-LED flagship, the Bravia 9. Meanwhile, the W95A would be closer to the Samsung NEO QLED QN85D, though both the Z95A and W95A support up to 144 Hz refresh rates for gaming. Each runs on Panasonic's HCX Mark II processor, which is exactly the same as the company’s non-North American releases from earlier this year, like the Fire TV Z93A OLED. Like many TVs nowadays, Panasonic claims it can use AI upscaling to push non-4K footage to UHD, though we’ve never been completely sold on those claims from most TV manufacturers. Like most high-end TVs, it has a specific game mode that includes options for choosing HDR and VRR and a few other settings for setting the color tone on the screen. Nothing truly stands out, but competing with today’s other expensive, gaming-centric TVs is necessary. The mini-LED ranges between 55 inches and 85 inches. Meanwhile, the Z85A and Z95A are much more limited. The flagship OLED only comes in 65 inches, while the Z85A supports 55- or 65-inch settings. They all use Amazon Fire TV, so if you have any experience with a Fire TV stick, you’ll know what you’re getting here. The added benefit is that each acts as an Amazon smart home hub if you don’t feel like sticking an Echo nearby or perhaps if you don’t mind eventually paying for an AI-enabled Alexa assistant. It’s been eight years since Panasonic left the U.S. market, right around the time LCDs far outpaced plasma TV sales. Plasma had been the company’s bread and butter, so instead of pivoting, it pulled out. It continued making TVs overseas for European and Asian markets. We're enticed by some of the offerings now that Panasonic's returned its TVs to the States, even if it's a real muscle and tussle business to get your screens in front of consumers. The Z95A OLED with its one size will cost you $3,200. The Z85A goes for a more reasonable $1,600 at 55 inches, while the 55-inch W95A starts at $1,300. That TV is $1,800 at 65 inches, which is slightly better than the Sony Bravia 7 at the same size. We'll have to test for ourselves whether the picture quality matches up.

Watch out, LG -- Panasonic returns to US with two new OLED TVs
After eight years of absence, Panasonic is set to return to the U.S. TV market and it's bringing with it two OLED TVs and a Mini-LED model that will give some of the best TVs some serious competition. In early January, Panasonic announced the world's first OLED Fire TVs in the Panasonic Z95A and Z85A, which at the time were considered destined to remain in territories outside of the U.S. Those plans have seemingly changed, with Panasonic aiming to meet "the demand for high-quality picture performance" in tandem with "smart experiences that seamlessly integrate" with the best smart home devices. Alongside the Z95A and Z85A OLED TVs is the W95A Mini-LED TV, which rounds out the Panasonic 2024 TV lineup. Each model comes equipped with a slew of awesome features, including a 144Hz refresh rate, Dolby Atmos support, smart home controls, and even an ATSC 3.0 tuner. Aside from the Z95A, which will only come in a 65-inch model, the rest of Panasonic's range are available in varied sizes starting from 55-inch to 85-inch. You can scoop one up today at retailers like Amazon, Costco, and more. Panasonic left the U.S. market all the way back in 2016 due to a number of factors, primarily over limited sales of its LCD TVs and increased competition from the likes of LG, Samsung, Hisense, and TCL. Now, it's set to make a triumphant return and it all starts with the Panasonic Z95A OLED TV. Sporting LG Display's second-gen MLA panel and Panasonic's new HCX Pro AI processor MK II, the Z95A already is shaping to be among the best OLED TVs. Currently, the only TVs that use the second-gen MLA panel are the LG G4 OLED and LG M4 OLED TVs, which highlights just how advanced the Z95A is and it only gets better when you look to its audio system. Its seven-channel 160W speaker is unheard of in the TV industry. Most modern TVs tend to use audio systems that range between 20W to 50W, with some of the more premium models, like the new Hisense U9N Mini-LED TV and its 82W speaker for example, not even surpassing 100W. This is why we tend to recommend the best soundbars for new TV purchases, but the Z95A might not need it. With its exceptional speaker system, you also have incredible control thanks to its Sound Focus feature, a bespoke audio setting that lets you choose specific cones of sound on a 180 degree range. This is ideal for those looking to finely attune their space, directing the TV sound to a particular best-seat-in-the-house or closer to a particular viewer, one that's elderly or hearing impaired. And while its audio already proves exciting, the Z95A also brings to the table several awesome gaming features that should make owners of the best gaming PCs pleased. These include a 144Hz refresh rate, VRR and ALLM support, plus compatibility with both Nvidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync -- perfect for Star Wars Outlaws, Black Ops 6, and the like. Most of the same features can be found on the cheaper Z85A model, but unlike its more premium brethren it comes in a 55-inch and 65-inch model, which cost $1,599 and $1,799 respectively. The Z95A will only be available in 65-inch and starts at $3,199, pitting it right alongside major competitors in the Sony A95L and Samsung S95D OLED TV. Panasonic isn't just bringing two OLED TVs to market either, as it also has a new Mini-LED TV that's just as stacked as its counterparts. Where Panasonic's OLED lineup lacks in varied TV sizes, the W95A Mini-LED TV comes in a wide range of options, including 55-inch, 65-inch, 75-inch, and 85-inch, starting at $1,299. The W95A will also come equipped with many of the same features presented on the flagship OLED, though does have a less-powerful two channel 50W speaker system. You can, however, expect the range of HDR support, like HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and HLG, as well as all of the same gaming functionality on the Z95A. All of Panasonic's new offerings come equipped with Fire TV, gifting them access to the best streaming services, hands-free Alexa voice controls, and several smart home integrations. The former makes it incredibly easy for you to check varied devices across your home ecosystem, like live camera feeds, lighting and thermostat controls, and so much more. Fire TV compatibility also offers you access to its so-called Ambient Experience, which is essentially software-based Samsung The Frame-like screensavers that enliven your display when not in use. You can even have Fire TV create you one with its built-in MLLM algorithm, which needs all but a mere prompt to build you your favorite art. Panasonic's new lineup officially hits shelves today and you can find its range of OLED and Mini-LED offerings at Amazon, Costco, and several other retailers. Stick to Tom's Guide for full reviews releasing later this month.

Panasonic OLED and mini-LED TVs are finally coming to the US - here are 5 reasons you should be excited
Panasonic has announced it is bringing select OLED and mini-LED models from its 2024 TV lineup to the US. This marks the first time since 2016 that Panasonic has sold TVs in the US market. Three models are confirmed to be coming across the pond: the flagship 2024 OLED, the Z95A ($3,199), which will be available in a 65-inch size only; the mid-range OLED Z85A, available in 55 ($1,599) and 65-inch ($1,799) sizes; and Panasonic's 2024 mini-LED offering, the W95A, available in 55, 65, 75 and 85 inches ($1,299 to $2,999). The Z95A features a micro lens array OLED panel similar to the one found in the LG G4 and supports all HDR formats including Dolby Vision IQ and HDR10+. Its speaker array features an external soundbar tuned by Technics. On the gaming front, it has a 4K 144Hz refresh rate, VRR including AMD FreeSync Premium and Nvidia GSync and Dolby Vision gaming. The mid-range OLED W85A features a standard W-OLED panel but will get a brightness boost from the built-in HCX AI Processor MK II. It carries many of the same gaming features as the Z95A, including AMD FreeSync Premium and Nvidia GSync, but will top out at a 120Hz refresh rate. Finally, the W95A, the only mini-LED entry for 2024, features the same HCX AI Processor MK II as the premium OLEDs and Dolby Vision IQ and HDR10+ high dynamic range support. For gaming, it will support a 4K 144Hz refresh rate and VRR including AMD FreeSync Premium. All new Panasonic TVs use Amazon's Fire TV smart TV platform, replacing Panasonic's own My Homescreen smart TV platform. For US customers, Panasonic's return to the States is an exciting development. Here are five reasons why that's the case: Panasonic TVs provide some of the best picture quality on the market. The Panasonic MZ2000, its flagship OLED from 2023 and predecessor to the Z95A, earned five stars for its picture quality in our review, with the highlights being stunning black levels and contrast, rich textures and dazzling HDR highlights. The Panasonic MZ1500, the mid-range OLED of 2023 with similar specs to the Z85A, earned four and a half stars in our review. It didn't quite have the same wow factor as the MZ2000 but is still easily one of the strongest mid-range OLEDs available. Panasonic's picture quality often rivals and in some aspects beats those of the best OLED TVs, with the MZ2000's picture easily matching that of the Samsung S95C, LG G3 and Sony A95L. With the introduction of the new Panasonic TVs in the US, customers will get another premium picture quality option. Much like the MZ2000, one of the best TVs for sound, the Panasonic Z95A will feature a full Dolby Atmos speaker array. That means the Z95A should provide stronger, more immersive audio than other premium OLEDs such as the Samsung S95D. It's also likely that both the Z85A and W95A will provide similarly strong audio quality, as Panasonic's TVs generally have solid audio performance across the range. Even though the Panasonic MZ980, the entry-level OLED from 2023, didn't match its more premium counterparts, we still gave its sound quality four out of five stars in our Panasonic MZ980 review. With Panasonic's return to the US TV market, US customers will finally get an OLED TV with comprehensive HDR support. Samsung's OLEDs (or any Samsung TV for that matter) don't support the popular Dolby Vision format, which streaming services such as Netflix and Disney Plus and many movies on 4K Blu-ray discs use. LG OLEDs do support Dolby Vision, but not the HDR10+ format, which is used by the Prime Video service and that's also the case with Sony's OLED TVs. It's worth noting that the W95A mini-LED TV will also support both Dolby Vision and HDR10+ formats. With more premium OLEDs now available, we'll likely see some pricing competition. In the UK, Panasonic has been a premium brand that costs more than its rivals. For example, in 2023 the 55-inch MZ2000 was £2,699 on release, whereas the Samsung S95C was £2,399. With the introduction of Panasonic in the US, even if the TVs sell at more of a premium, we could still see LG, Samsung and Sony lower prices in an attempt to draw customers away from Panasonic. This is the first generation of Panasonic TVs that will not feature Panasonic's own my HomeScreen smart TV platform, which was arguably its weakest feature and one that held the MZ2000 back from perfection. With a somewhat dated appearance and sluggish performance, HomeScreen has struggled against the likes of other smart TV platforms such as webOS, Tizen, Roku and Fire TV. Earlier this year, Panasonic revealed that Fire TV would now serve as the new smart TV platform for the majority of its TVs. When we saw it in action, we were impressed at Fire TV's curated home menu and Alexa voice commands, and its ability to function as a smart hub to control other Alexa devices. Across the board, Fire TV looks to be an improvement for Panasonic TVs, and the US will have it from the get-go.

Reasons for US Return Panasonic, one of Japan's most popular consumer electronics brands, was driven to re-enter the US by a strong belief in the unmet demand for their televisions, particularly among consumers seeking the highest possible picture quality. As consumers live through what many call the Golden Age of Television, the number of discerning viewers has increased, with more people wanting to experience their favorite content exactly as it was intended. Panasonic's collaboration with Hollywood professionals has resulted in TVs that deliver an exceptional viewing experience right out of the box, reflecting their renowned Japanese precision and expertise. In addition to the demand for high-quality picture performance, the rise of smart homes has transformed consumer expectations. Panasonic recognized that today's viewers desire more than just great picture quality; they seek smart experiences that seamlessly integrate with their evolving smart home environments. By partnering with Amazon, Panasonic has ensured that their TVs provide outstanding smart capabilities, allowing users to connect effortlessly with other devices and platforms. Panasonic's flexible business structure and global manufacturing platform have enabled them to expand efficiently, making it possible to meet the diverse needs of the US consumers. With their unique combination of cutting-edge Japanese technology, accurate picture and sound quality, innovative design, advanced integration of Fire TV, and competitive pricing, Panasonic is confident in its ability to offer something truly valuable to US consumers. Unique Panasonic Offering Panasonic TVs have long been known for the accuracy of their picture quality out of the box. Panasonic achieved this through combining proprietary Japanese technology and knowhow with years of collaboration with Hollywood's leading creators, who have helped Panasonic continuously fine-tune their hallmark picture accuracy. For professionals and enthusiasts, Panasonic offers a wide range of picture settings, enabling them to achieve the precise visual experience they desire. However, Panasonic's mission extends beyond catering solely to experts. The brand is driven by the belief that everyone should have access to the best possible picture quality. To this end, Panasonic employs optional Auto AI features that automatically adjust picture settings based on the type of content being viewed and the ambient light in a room. This ensures that casual viewers, who may prefer not to tweak settings manually, can still enjoy an optimal viewing experience. By catering to both kinds of users -- those who appreciate detailed customization and those who prefer effortless adjustments -- Panasonic delivers access to accurate picture quality for everyone. See It All. Feel It All. With over 70 years of experience in television development, Panasonic remains at the forefront of delivering outstandingly accurate picture quality for its customers. This achievement is a result of a unique combination of cutting-edge Japanese engineering, advanced technology, and close collaboration with Hollywood's leading experts, known for their "golden eyes." The central challenge in Panasonic's TV development lies in ensuring that three critical components -- the cell, the module, and the processor -- work together in perfect harmony. This synergy is essential to unlocking the maximum performance potential of each panel. By meticulously tuning these elements with input from Hollywood's finest visual experts, Panasonic strives to achieve uncompromised picture accuracy. Any misalignment among these components would undermine the precise picture quality that Panasonic aims to deliver. At the heart of Panasonic's picture quality is the HCX Pro AI Processor MK II processor, which serves as the brain of the operation. The processor is crucial in delivering accuracy in color, contrast, and clarity, ensuring that Panasonic TVs provide optimal picture quality right out of the box. Color: Panasonic's dynamic 3D LUTs (Look-Up Tables) enable precisely detailed color reproduction, with thousands of registry points ensuring true-to-life colors. Contrast: Supporting major HDR formats, Panasonic's unique tone-mapping technology optimizes for natural contrast reproduction, delivering stunning images regardless of brightness levels. Clarity: The processor enhances gradation, motion images, and detail through advanced analysis functions, including 4K Fine Remaster and Smooth Motion Drive Pro, ensuring a sharp and clear viewing experience. Panasonic's dedication to integrating these elements into a cohesive whole underscores its commitment to providing the most accurate picture quality, bringing customers closer to the filmmaker's original vision. Line Up for the United States Panasonic announced that it will initially sell three series of TVs in the United States. The flagship Z95A OLED TV, available in 65"; the Z85A OLED TV, available in 65" and 55" sizes. In addition, Panasonic will also sell the W95 mini-LED series, available in 55", 65", 75", and a whopping 85" sizes. All of these TVs are substantially the same as those sold by the brand in other regions, with some minor regional differences. The new Z95A OLED TV represents the combination of a brand-new chipset and bright panel, the HCX Pro AI Processor MK II, with the Master OLED Ultimate panel, with Panasonic's technical accuracy made possible by Japanese knowhow and engineering, merged with the color-tuning skills of Stefan Sonnenfeld. Sonnenfeld, Founder and CEO of Company 3 is a trusted collaborator of some of the world's best filmmakers. He is among a handful of leading artists who have championed the power of color grading to tell stories and communicate emotion. Described by NPR as the "da Vinci of the movies," Sonnenfeld has applied his skills as a colorist to many of the most acclaimed and popular features of the past decade: Top Gun: Maverick, A Star is Born, Wonder Woman, HBO's White Lotus, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Jurassic World, 300 and many more. Like many other leading colorists, studios, and postproduction houses, he uses Panasonic OLED screens as large-format client reference monitors in his daily workflow. Panasonic's Z95A utilizes a Master OLED Ultimate panel module which is equipped with state-of-the-art Micro Lens Array and a multi-layer heat management configuration developed by Panasonic engineers. The panel delivers unprecedented brightness thanks to improvements in the driving technology and this heat management. The 2024 global brand new HCX Pro AI Processor MK II in all models powers the new 4K Remaster Engine which elevates streaming picture clarity, by combining AI and mathematical models for crisp, natural images, and superior streaming noise reduction. Gradation has also been improved to reduce banding. Both sets also support Dolby Vision IQTM Precision detail, a picture enhancement system that aims to reveal extra details. It is an advancement on Dolby Vision IQTM and operates by adjusting the light levels in each area of the screen to draw out more detail, without boosting the brightness to a point where the image looks washed out. This technology works in tandem with a TV's embedded ambient light sensors to perceive how bright it is in the living room and then adjust the on-screen picture to ensure that every detail can be seen, even the darkest of scenes. The new HCX Pro AI Processor MK II also enables Dolby Vision® support up to 144Hz. Technics engineers have also meticulously tuned the Z95A displays to ensure content is viewed and heard as intended by its creators. With 360 Soundscape Pro tuned by Technics, featuring multidirectional speakers and Dolby Atmos® support, delivering immersive 3D surround sound. The latest Mini LED panel technology featured in the W95A brings enhanced backlight control with Local Dimming Ultra for the tightest reproduction of image brightness and darkness. This Panasonic engineering minimises the "halo effect" found on many LCD TVs, and a Quantum Dot Sheet brings further superior color reproduction and contrast enhancements. Panasonic with Fire TV built in: Explore more. Feel more. Thanks to a global collaboration with Amazon, Panasonic's newly launched TVs seamlessly integrate your favorite streaming and live TV channels, apps, and tailored recommendations on one main home screen so you can quickly find what you love without the endless scrolling. Users can create up to six user profiles and have access to unique watchlists, personalized recommendations, and settings. They include the Voice Remote with Alexa to easily launch apps, play music, search for titles, and more, using your voice. The Z95A also has far-field voice control with Alexa, so you can easily control your entertainment experience with your voice from across the living room without reaching for the remote. These TVs are also not just entertainment devices, but also hubs for smart home management. Fully compatible with Alexa-enabled devices such as Ring Doorbells, they feature a smart home dashboard, enabling users to monitor and control their connected home ecosystem seamlessly. They all also transform into dynamic displays when content is not streaming with the Fire TV Ambient Experience. The Ambient Experience turns the biggest screen in your home into a beautiful, always-on smart display rotating through beautiful art, personal photos, and glanceable information like calendars and reminders that keep you updated throughout the day through customizable Alexa widgets. Finally, when not in use for viewing content, those TVs transform into dynamic displays. The Fire TV Ambient Experience turns the biggest screen in your home into a beautiful, always-smart display. This can turn the TV into an in-home gallery, display personal photos, and show glanceable information like calendars and reminders through customizable Alexa widgets. In addition, Panasonic TV remotes have the unique "MyApp" button, which can be programmed to directly open a favorite app, channel, or even a favorite voice control command. Level Up Your Game In recent years, gaming has undergone a rapid transformation. Storylines are crafted with the depth and excitement of Hollywood blockbusters, 3D worlds have expanded in size and realism, and countless gaming universes await exploration. To fully immerse themselves in this evolving entertainment landscape, gamers have traditionally relied on monitors designed to maximize the performance of the latest consoles and PCs, which boast advanced rendering technologies and lightning-fast load times. However, Panasonic TVs now offer a compelling alternative, providing the same high-quality experience that gamers have come to expect from specialized monitors. With Panasonic, gamers can enjoy all the benefits of advanced gaming technology on a larger screen, enhancing their immersion in the gaming worlds they love. In a ground-breaking development for gaming enthusiasts, the Z95A are some of the world's first OLED TVs to deliver a 144Hz refresh rate. This feature ensures unparalleled responsiveness, a boon for gamers seeking a competitive edge. The heart of this innovation is the New HCX Pro AI Processor MK II, acclaimed for rendering vivid, seamless, and crystal-clear imagery. Thanks to this new processor, Panasonic is unveiling improved "Game Mode Extreme," which equips the TVs with cutting-edge gaming functionalities, making them ready for the latest consoles and PCs. Notably, the inclusion of HDMI 2.1 High Frame Rate and VRR up to 144Hz means more frames per second, resulting in faster, smoother gameplay. Another significant enhancement is the improved Dolby Vision Gaming, now also compatible with frame rates up to 144Hz. This upgrade ensures the ultimate contrast and superior picture quality in High Dynamic Range, elevating the gaming experience. 1 Furthermore, these TVs boast an ultra-low input lag, a feature crucial for fast-paced games, as it ensures that every controller action is instantly reflected on the screen, giving players a competitive edge against their opponents. Panasonic TVs also support True Game Mode, a picture pre-set specifically tailored to enhance color accuracy, including optimal white balance and grayscale settings. The result is a gaming experience that closely aligns with the vision of game developers, offering players a cinematic and authentic visual journey. In addition to visual enhancements, these TVs also feature specialized Game Sound Modes for RPG (Role-Playing Games) and FPS (First-Person Shooter) genres. The RPG mode creates a 3D soundscape with clear dialogues, essential for immersive storytelling and strategic gameplay. Conversely, the FPS mode is finely tuned to accentuate crucial sound cues, like footsteps, providing a tactical advantage in shooter games. Furthermore, HDR Picture Adjustment with Tone Mapping OFF is another notable feature. It allows for perfect adjustment of HDR games right at the source, rather than the TV. This ensures high brightness levels and detailed visibility, without overblowing the highlights. All game settings are easily accessible from an updated 'Game Control Board' onscreen overlay, which provides a game settings dashboard allowing fast access to all settings. You can also place it on the customisable My App button on the remote control for quick access. These TVs are also NVIDIA® G-SYNC® Compatible2 and AMD FreeSync™ Premium certified televisions. Owners of the latest consoles and AMD Radeon™ graphics cards can plug in and play without a care in the world thanks to AMD FreeSync™ technology, which puts an end to choppy gameplay and broken frames for a smooth gaming experience. G-SYNC also means that when a TV is connected to a PC using a NVIDIA GeForce RTX graphics card, it automatically optimizes input lag and VRR settings, ensuring fluid, tear-free gaming experience that is validated by NVIDIA. 1Z85A: Up to 120Hz 2Only OLED series. After nearly a decade-long absence, Panasonic is re-entering the US television market with a lineup of premium OLED and Mini-LED TVs. The move marks a significant comeback for the former TV powerhouse, aiming to compete with established brands in the high-end segment.
After an absence of almost a decade, Panasonic is making a grand re-entry into the US television market. The Japanese electronics giant, once a dominant force in the TV industry, is set to launch a new lineup of high-end OLED and Mini-LED TVs in the United States 1. This move marks a significant shift in Panasonic's strategy, as the company aims to reclaim its position in one of the world's largest consumer electronics markets.
Panasonic's return to the US market is headlined by two premium OLED TV series and a Mini-LED lineup. The flagship Z95A OLED TV and the step-down Z93A OLED TV will be available in 55-inch and 65-inch sizes, while the Mini-LED series will offer 75-inch and 85-inch options 2. These new models boast cutting-edge features, including:
Panasonic's re-entry comes at a time when the US TV market is dominated by brands like Samsung, LG, and Sony. However, the company is positioning itself to compete in the high-end segment, leveraging its reputation for picture quality and color accuracy. Panasonic TVs have long been favored by Hollywood studios for color grading, and the company aims to bring this professional-grade quality to consumers 4.
In a strategic move, Panasonic has partnered with Amazon to integrate Fire TV into its new lineup. This collaboration aims to provide users with a seamless smart TV experience, combining Panasonic's hardware expertise with Amazon's content ecosystem 5. The partnership also suggests Panasonic's commitment to staying competitive in the rapidly evolving smart TV landscape.
Panasonic's return is expected to shake up the premium TV segment in the US. With its focus on high-end models and reputation for quality, the company could potentially challenge established players like LG in the OLED market. However, Panasonic will need to overcome the challenge of re-establishing its brand presence in a market it left nearly a decade ago.
