Snapdragon 8 Elite For Galaxy S25 Will Perform Better Than Standard Variant Of The Chip Thanks To Higher Clock Speed, Offering 37 Percent Faster CPU And 30 Percent Faster GPU
Samsung has juts announced the new Galaxy S25 lineup with major focus on AI features and based on the first look, the devices do feel refreshed. While the general design language is more or less the same, the company ensured that the Galaxy S25 Ultra is way faster than last year's model. It is now being reported that the new Snapdragon 8 Elite chip for Galaxy is a slightly tweaked version developed by Qualcomm solely for the new handsets. The new version offers better CPU and GPU performance compared to the standard variant of the chipset. The Snapdragon 8 Elite chip is miles ahead of Qualcomm's previous chips for smartphones with notable computational and graphical performance gains. Samsung's Galaxy S25 lineup, on th flip side, comes with a tweaked version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip which has been overclocked for an even better performance. Qualcomm has also confirmed to Android Authority that the upgraded chip features a 4.46GHz peak CPU speed, which boils down to roughly 150MHz boost over the standard variant of the chip. Every day use would not showcase the increased performance of the chip but based on the numbers Samsung showcased on stage, the CPY is 37 percent faster and the GPU is 30 percent faster than the previous generation chip. Additionally, the NPU is also 40 percent faster which will boost AI tasks. This is a major performance gain and a vital addition since the entire Galaxy S25 lineup comes packed with a slew of new AI features. Samsung's year-over-year performance gains with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip were limited to 20 percent, which concludes that the new Snapdragon 8 Elite chip is significantly faster than the previous chips. However, the NPU performance gains are more or less similar to the previous version. Samsung and Qualcomm also worked together to customize the chipset for the Galaxy S25's unique display specifications. According to the source, the chip bolsters the new S25's ProScaler image scaling solution and mDNIe tech for better efficiency. The chipmaker also states that it worked with Samsung to integrate Spatio-Temporal Filter or STF into the image signal processor, which allows better low light video capturing in up to 8K at 30fps resolution. Hpwever, this specific feature is generally available on all variants of the chip. Since the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip is based on Qualcomm's 3nm process, it will not only deliver better performance but consume less power as well, which will ultimately reflect in the device's battery life. We will share more details on the chip, so be sure to stick around.
