The company announced its investment of over Rs 3,643 crore ($437 million) in research and development over the past year. It has filed over 2,555 patents focusing on advancements in bio-energy, solar energy, and digital technologies. Focusing on the expansion of its digital services, Jio announced that its True 5G, now covers over 85% of India's 5G radio cells and its network manages nearly 8% of global mobile traffic. Jio TvOS Jio TvOS is Reliance Jio's newly developed operating system made for the Jio Set Top Box. It brings support for Ultra HD 4K resolution, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos. The aim of Jio TvOS is to deliver a superior viewing experience with crystal-clear picture quality and immersive sound. Jio HomeIoT Jio Home IoT is a system that works in tandem with Jio TvOS. JioCloud is Jio's cloud storage platform for photos, videos, documents, and other content. RIL Chairman Mukesh Ambani announced the Jio AI Cloud Welcome offer, with which Jio users will get up to 100GB of free cloud storage for the first six months. This offer will be available for all Jio customers starting this Diwali. "We're excited to introduce the Jio Cloud Welcome Offer as part of our commitment to providing innovative digital solutions to our customers," said Mukesh Ambani. JioPhoneCall AI is a new AI-powered service from Jio that offers a new way to record and transcribe calls. It can record phone calls, transcribe them, summarise them, and translate them. JioPhoneCall AI works without any app. It works by adding a phone number to the existing call, a special number given by Jio (1-800-732673, as shown in the event). After the welcome message, press 1 to start recording, and the call will start recording. It will be saved to JioCloud AI, including a transcription. To pause the recording, press 2, and to stop it, press 3. JioPhoneCall AI will periodically announce that the phone call is being recorded to inform everyone on the call as a privacy measure. It is not clear when this service will go lie and whether Jio plans to charge for these transcriptions. The company also announced JioTV OS, a homegrown operating system for Jio Set-Top Boxes that supports Ultra HD 4K Video, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos. JioTV OS integrates the Hello Jio voice assistant, which the company claims is smarter and provides human-like natural language understanding by integrating the latest Generative AI technologies. The Hello Jio assistant can be triggered via the mic button on the Jio remote, and it can search through all your apps, such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, JioCinema, Disney+ Hotstar, and more. JioTV OS comes with the Jio App Store, which hosts different TV apps on the platform. The Jio Home app is integrated into JioTV OS and is the central hub for IoT services. JioBrain is a suite of AI tools and platforms currently being tested at Jio, and it helped the company to accelerate AI adoption. The company plans to use it across other Reliance companies and plans to roll it out to enterprise customers soon. More details on JioBrain are yet to be shared. Mukesh Ambani also talked about Reliance Jio's achievements in the telecom industry. Jio is currently the "World's largest mobile data company," surpassing even world telecom leaders. Jio currently has a subscriber base of 490 million users, and Mukesh Ambani also shared some insights. Jio customers use an average of 30 GB of data per month and have seen a 33 per cent growth in data traffic year over year. Jio Air Fiber, the company's 5G-based home broadband service launched last October, acquired the first million customers in its first six months of operation and aims to acquire the next million customers in the next 30 days. Jio has filed patents in 6G, 5G, AI-LLMs, AI-deep learning, Big Data, Devices IoT, Narrowband IoT and more. It was mentioned that Jio is currently the most significant patent holder in the country.

The company has made a lot of new tech announcements at this event such as JioBrain, JioTV OS, and JioTV+. The JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar merger was also officially disclosed. Here's all you need to know about the Reliance AGM 2024 announcements. JioBrain (perhaps a play on Google Brain) is a comprehensive suite of AI tools and platforms. This would include generative AI solutions too. However, Reliance hasn't disclosed the AI model or training involved in developing JioBrain. The company said, "We are embedding AI into all our processes and offerings, creating end-to-end workflows with real-time, data-driven insights and automation". Jio users will receive up to 100GB of free cloud storage to "securely store and access" all your different media (image, video) and document types. If you want more storage, Ambani said, you can get further storage upgrades at "affordable rates". The Jio AI Cloud Welcome Offer will be available starting Diwali 2024. As a side note, Reliance revealed it has 350+ patents in 5G and 6G technologies. JioTV OS is the new operating system (software platform) for JioTV Set Top Box with quick access to Jio apps and popular 3rd party OTT apps (like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video). You can also transcribe voice calls into text; summarise this text and even translate it to another language. Reliance confirms its partnership with Disney. Mr Ambani says, "We are combining content creation with digital streaming...We are excited about this partnership. I warmly welcome Disney to the Reliance family." The Competition Commission of India has approved this Rs 70,350 crore merger "subject to the compliance of voluntary modifications". Nita Ambani is said to be the chairperson of this new entity.
