Adobe Unveils AI-Powered Features in Lightroom to Revolutionize Photo Editing
Adaptive Profiles, which help you quickly create great-looking HDR images, are now generally available in both color and black & white across the entire Lightroom ecosystem. First introduced in Camera Raw last fall, Adaptive Profiles dynamically adjust the tones and colors of your photos, creating an enhanced , yet realistic , starting point for further editing. Unlike traditional presets and profiles with universal settings, Adaptive Profiles adapt to your image. An AI model analyzes your photo and adjusts tones and colors to make them look just right. The effect is as if the AI had changed Exposure, Shadows, Highlights, Color Mixer, Curves, and other controls for you, although the actual controls stay in their original neutral position.

Adobe Lightroom and Camera Raw are getting two new AI editing features
Adobe announced at its Max Japan 2025 design conference a pair of new AI editing tools for its Lightroom and Camera Raw applications designed to reduce the tedious repetition of many common tasks. First off, Adaptive Profiles, which technically debuted last fall, is now generally available in both Lightroom and Camera Raw for color and monochrome HDR images. Per Adobe, Adaptive Profiles, "dynamically adjust the tones and colors of your photos, creating an enhanced, yet realistic, starting point for further editing." But rather than apply the same pre-set enhancements to every image it is applied to, Adaptive Profiles uses AI to analyze each image and optimize its adjustments including Exposure, Shadows, Highlights, Color Mixer, and Curves. Recommended Videos Distraction Removal, on the other hand, is currently available in Early Access for Camera Raw users but is coming soon to Lightroom. It detects and removes distracting elements within an image photo, such as reflections in windows, crowds, or people photobombing in the background. Adobe is also rolling out a new feature that is sure to save photographers time, effort, and potentially their sanity. The new Find Duplicates feature has arrived in Early Access for Lightroom on the web users that tracks down and removes duplicate images within its library so that users don't inadvertently start editing the wrong shot. Find Duplicates is being bundled under the Clean Up tool, which can also find and remove blurred images and screenshots. You'll soon find it easier to share the photos you take through Lightroom mobile for iOS, thanks to a few new updates that are being released. The app, for example, will now auto-generate shareable links that you can be viewed by anyone you send them to, regardless of if they have Lightroom themselves. That link generation process will also be 75% faster than before. You'll be able to quickly designate how and where your images will be shared -- whether that's copying the link, sharing over social media, or sending them directly to your contacts. There's no word yet on when these sharing features will arrive on the Google and Samsung Lightroom apps.

Adobe Unveils AI-Powered Innovations in Lightroom to Empower Creativity
At MAX Japan 2025, Adobe announced the arrival of two new AI-powered editing features in Lightroom and Adobe Camera Raw: Adaptive Profiles and Distraction Removal. These tools unlock new ways for you to edit your photos and reduce the tedious repetition required for common tasks. Realistically enhance HDR photos with Adaptive Profiles Available in Lightroom, Lightroom Classic, Lightroom for mobile (iOS & Android), Lightroom for web, and Adobe Camera Raw Adaptive Profiles, which help you quickly create great-looking HDR images, are now generally available in both color and black & white across the entire Lightroom ecosystem. Adaptive Profiles build on our existing support for HDR workflows. They're just the latest improvement of many since we first introduced support for creating and editing high dynamic range images in 2023. Remove distracting people from your photos Available in Early Access in Adobe Camera Raw, coming soon to Lightroom Removing distractions has long been a tedious and manual task for many photographers. Today, photos full of distractions either take ages to edit, or you may have no choice but to throw them out entirely. We want to make it much easier to not only identify unwanted distractions in your photos but remove them in just a few clicks. Distraction Removal, now available in Camera Raw as a Tech Preview and coming soon to Lightroom, can detect and remove common distractions in your photos like unwanted people. From eliminating photobombers at a photo shoot to combating the crowds in family vacation photos, you can now easily achieve clean, professional-looking results in moments. And if you have trouble with annoying window reflections, check out the Distraction Removal feature for removing window reflections we launched in December. In addition to innovating for the future, Lightroom is also committed to building features that our community has been asking for. These improvements will streamline your workflows and make your life easier. Save time managing your photo library Available in Early Access in Lightroom on the web Organizing and managing the hundreds or thousands of images in your photo library is one of the most tedious and time-consuming parts of photography. We've begun experimenting with some powerful new tools in Lightroom on the web that are designed to make it easier to identify the right photos for continued editing and remove unneeded ones. One of the biggest annoyances is tracking down the duplicate images that always seem to find their way into your library. Today, that's getting easier with the launch of Find Duplicates, now available in early access as part of the Clean Up tool in Lightroom on the web. Clean Up is one of the features that makes Lightroom on the web a great lightweight tool for quickly viewing, organizing, and managing the photos you have saved in the cloud. In addition to identifying duplicate shots, Clean Up also helps you find blurry photos, screenshots, and other unwanted images. Intuitive Focus Point Selection for Tether Live View Available in Lightroom Classic Getting the perfect shot during your live photo session is now easier than ever with Lightroom Classic's new Focus Point Selection tool. When tethered to Lightroom Classic, you can change your camera's autofocus mode in the Tether Live View window and simply click on your desired subject. No more fiddling with Auto Focus or manual near/far focus buttons -- just point and click to get the right focus every time. This is especially handy when your camera is set up in a tricky spot, like high above your head for a bird's-eye-view shot. Plus, it's much easier to set the focus point on the larger, live-view window than on the smaller camera screen. Whether you're focusing on a model's eye or another object, this tool gives you the confidence that you're capturing the perfect shot. The feature is available for supported Sony, Nikon, and Canon cameras. Enhanced sharing experiences Available in Lightroom Mobile (iOS) For most photographers, the point of capturing a great image is to share it. So we're making it faster, easier, and more intuitive to share photos & albums with your family and friends. 4X Faster Share Link Generation:We've also made it faster to generate a share link, reducing the wait time by 75 percent. Now, you can generate shareable links in a fraction of the time, ensuring that sharing photos is both fast and hassle-free. Easier Link Copy and Share Options:We've also made copying and sharing links easier than ever before. With easy-to-access, intuitive options, you can quickly decide how you want to share your content -- whether by copying the link, sharing via social media, or sending directly to your contacts. Real-time Customization Preview:Before sharing a link, you can now view a real-time preview of any customization made to the shared album or content. This feature lets you see exactly how your content will appear to recipients, so you can tweak it to get the exact appearance you want. Even more Lightroom updates Lightroom Classic Performance Improvements: Our goal is to make every major version of Lightroom Classic better than the previous one. With this latest update, experience improved responsiveness while brushing masks, rotating crop angles, and adjusting white balance adjustments, especially for images with a lot of masks. Also, try out the optimizations for accessing and reading folders in your catalog. Select Background (Available in Lightroom for Mobile, iPhone and Android): You can now easily make selective edits on the background of your photos directly from your phone, instead of having to switch to a larger-screen device, thanks to improvements in Lightroom Mobile's AI masking tools. Dual Monitor Support (Available in Lightroom): Need more space? You can now use Lightroom across two computer monitors. Using two screens can really streamline your workflow -- many photographers like having the edit view open on one monitor and the grid view open on the other for maximum efficiency. Lightroom for web features are available at lightroom.adobe.com -- no download required. You can download Lightroom, Lightroom Classic, and Photoshop via the Creative Cloud Desktop app.

Adobe Lightroom Updates Promise Better HDR Images and More Speed
Today at Adobe MAX Japan, the software giant announced updates to Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Camera Raw, bringing new features and improvements across the entire Lightroom ecosystem, from desktop to mobile. The most widespread improvement is the general availability of Adaptive Profiles in Lightroom, Lightroom Classic, Lightroom for mobile (iOS and Android), Lightroom for web, and Adobe Camera Raw. Announced at Adobe MAX in Miami last October for Adobe Camera Raw, Adaptive Profiles utilize artificial intelligence to non-destructively improve images in just one click. AI analyzes the user's image and then selectively adjusts tones and colors to improve the look of the photo and provides photographers with an enhanced but still natural and realistic starting point for further editing. This profile is dynamic, intelligent, and very effective based on PetaPixel's experience. The AI makes subtle, dynamic tweaks to various image editing settings, like exposure, shadows, highlights, curves, and the color mixer, although all the settings remain in a neutral position for the user. Adaptive Profiles are now available in all versions of Lightroom. It is also worth noting that the Adaptive Profile supports high-dynamic range (HDR) photo editing, which is something Adobe's standard profiles cannot do. Another feature that debuted last October is back in the limelight. At MAX, Adobe previewed an AI-powered Distraction Removal tool, although it was not generally available to users. Today, it is available in early access in Adobe Camera Raw and will be arriving soon in Lightroom. Distraction Removal is a one-click solution to remove common distractions from a photo, including unwanted people, wires, and other distracting objects. The tool relies upon artificial intelligence to analyze an image and identity and remove potential distractions. Unlike the Adaptive Profiles, this is a generative tool since it must replace pixels with new ones. It is also recommended to be used with other existing removal tools. Adobe notes that another similar distraction removal feature was announced recently, the one for removing reflections from windows the company previewed in December. Other improvements include powerful new organization tools in Lightroom for the web, including a new duplicate identifying tool being added to the existing Clean Up tool. Clean Up can also track down blurry photos, screenshots, and other unwanted photos in a user's online library. Lightroom Classic users are getting additional love. There is a new Focus Point Selection tool for working with a tethered camera. This tool allows users to change their camera's autofocus mode and click on the desired subject in the frame. "No more fiddling with Auto Focus or manual near/far focus buttons -- just point and click to get the right focus every time," Adobe promises. The feature is available for supported Canon, Nikon, and Sony cameras. Lightroom Classic is getting continued performance improvements. Adobe specifically calls out better responsiveness while brushing masks, rotating crop angles, and adjusting white balance, especially when working with images that have many masks. There are also optimizations for reading and accessing folders in the user's catalog. For Lightroom on mobile (iOS), there are improvements to sharing functionality. On iPhone and Android, Lightroom now features a 'Select Background' too. Finally, regular Lightroom now supports dual monitors, a feature Lightroom Classic has long supported.

Adobe Lightroom receives a wave of amazing features to make image editing a lot easier
Summary Adobe Lightroom introduces powerful AI editing tools like Distraction Removal and Clean Up. The desktop version of Lightroom now supports dual monitors for improved workflow. Mobile editing on Adobe Lightroom is made easier with tools like Select Background and enhanced sharing features. I'm not much of an AI enthusiast, but I will admit that AI image editing has saved me a ton of time. I personally get a lot of leverage out of background removal tools, which always do a far better job than me messing around with the magic wand tool in GIMP. Luckily, for people who have my level of skill with image editors, Adobe's new Lightroom changes make it even easier to get stuff done. Related Insta360 X4 review: the best consumer 360 camera gets better The new Insta360 camera can shoot 360 degree video in 8K/30 resolution or single lens "standard" video at 4K/120fps, giving it great versatility Posts Adobe Lightroom receives several powerful AI editing tools In an emailed press release, Adobe explains what it's been working on. There are a handful of cool tools on the way, but my favorite is what it calls "Distraction Removal." Adobe says that this tool is part of the Tech Preview of Camera Raw, and will soon roll out to Lightroom. This feature automatically detects any unwanted people in a shot -- perhaps a group of people or a rude photobomber -- and scrubs them out of the image, leaving only the subject behind. Plus, the desktop version of Lightroom now supports dual monitors, which is great for those who don't want just one screen. Adobe is also making some tweaks to the Clean Up tool for Lightroom on the web. Clean Up makes it really easy to cull any bad photos in a batch. Feed it all of your images, hit Clean Up, and it'll automatically hunt for duplicates, blurry images, screenshots, and anything else you may not want to work with. Adobe is even making mobile editing easier. The Android and iOS version of Lightroom now has a Select Background tool that lets you quickly swap whatever's behind your subject with something else. Plus, the iOS version now has enhanced sharing features. If this sounds good to you, but you've never tried the app before, check out these reasons why we keep returning to Lightroom for some inspiration.
