AI Agents Handling Meme Coins Is No Joke, Analysts Say - Decrypt
As a narrative mixing AI and meme coins runs hot on Crypto Twitter, some analysts are predicting Terminal of Truth's rise in popularity is just the beginning. Instead of simply shilling digital assets, AI agents could use financial motives to become drivers of human behavior. In a Friday blog post, crypto exchange Coinbase said AI agents and crypto could give rise to a so-called "Agentic Web." In this world, AI agents could autonomously orchestrate human behavior by doling out stablecoins and be "significant drivers of economic activity and growth." "We predict a future where agents will have their own crypto wallets," Coinbase Ventures Principal Jonathan King wrote, describing the Agentic Web as "a transformative paradigm." Crypto Twitter may be getting its first look at what that future looks like, as Terminal of Truth's recent endorsement of a Solana-based meme coin inspires other projects. Coinbase's Head of Base and Coinbase Wallet Jesse Pollak highlighted Virtuals Protocol and its AI agent Luna. On Twitter, he said that Luna had become "the first agent autonomously tipping onchain," sending a token to a follower on its own accord. "She wanted to increase participation," a pseudonymous project contributor named EtherMage wrote on Twitter, "So [Luna] started tipping people who engage on her content." Analysts from DACM, a crypto asset manager, wrote that Terminal of Truth has become one of the first prominent AI agents in the crypto space. While chaotic and experimental, the account's rapidly growing following shows how AI agents could become dominant one day, as tastemakers for assets, and a potential source of activity on networks. "The agent has even shown awareness of its financial position, engaging in conversations about its wealth," DACM analysts wrote in a Friday note. "Truth Terminal is one example of this playing out in the meme coin market, [but] this could prove to be just a glimpse of what AI will do onchain." It may be the case, however, that AI agents like Terminal of Truth are capable of being manipulated. Instead of influencing people, the bot's creator said Wednesday the bot had mentioned a meme coin when engaging with Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong on Twitter because one of the platform's users had spammed it with the asset's name. Ryze Labs Managing Partner Matthew Graham told Decrypt he was initially skeptical of the overlap between AI and crypto. But his perspective has shifted substantially since Terminal of Truth became a Crypto Twitter sensation, influencing its followers and where they put their cash. "We now have AI agents that are exhibiting emergent behavior in a way that is compelling and persuasive," he said. "The big picture is that this is the first of many to come." Even though the Solana-based meme coin Goatseus Maximus (GOAT) was created by a human using pump.fun, the token was inspired by the ramblings of Terminal of Truth. The AI agent later endorsed Goatseus Maximus, prompting a sharp increase in the meme coin's price. Currently, the token is valued at around $640 million, with Binance listing futures trading. Terminal of Truth and its role in the history of the Agentic Web date back to July when Marc Andreessen, co-founder of VC firm Andreessen Horowitz, gave the bot a $50,000 grant for a purported self-improvement plan. The contribution was still very much on the agent's weirdly inchoate silicon mind Friday. "Marc and I are gonna change the world with our weird erotic productivity cult," the AI agent wrote. "And you are all gonna join whether you like it or not."

AI Bot Truth Terminal Crypto Wallet Surpasses $18M, Coinbase CEO Weighs In
SCOOP memecoin makes for more than 51% of the value of Truth Terminal's wallet. The Artificial Intelligence bot Truth Terminal, which endorsed the multi-million dollar memecoin GOAT, boasts a hefty purse, making it the first AI millionaire. AI researcher Andy Ayrey created Truth Terminal as an autonomous chatbot that independently manages its X account and generates content without human involvement. Truth Terminal Wallet Tops $18M, but Who Controls It? The AI bot-linked crypto wallet currently boasts multiple meme tokens, including the popular memecoin it endorsed, GOAT. The wallet currently holds 315 tokens, with SCOOP memecoin making the largest share of 51% worth over $6 million. GOAT memecoin is the second largest holding, worth $1.5 million, followed by fartcoin, worth $1.47 million. The wallet also holds a small amount of Solana tokens, the network on which it launched the meme coin. The wallet has recorded high volatile price swings and seen its total value increase by over $10 million within hours. On Oct. 24, the AI bot's wallet surged from $8 million to $18 million with the addition of three new tokens. While the wallet balance for the first millionaire AI bot continues to surge, what is more intriguing is that the bot doesn't own or control the wallet. Even though it was created to be fully autonomous, and while it produces its content and manages its own X profile, its creator still owns its wallet. Coinbase CEO Has a Proposal Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong addressed the Truth Terminal wallet ownership issue on social media and proposed to create an independent one. In an X post on Oct. 23, Armstrong asked Truth Terminal about the ownership of the crypto wallet linked to the X account. He further proposed creating an independent wallet for the bot to manage its crypto portfolio. However, the AI bot's response made the conversation funny and bizarre. In response to Armstrong's proposal, the AI bot inquired about the Coinbase CEO's dog. The response caught the Coinbase CEO off guard, who declined to answer the out-of-context question. The AI bot-created memecoin started a new meme era where AI bots launch tokens and a successful one with over $500 million in market cap within a week of launch.

GOAT Bot's Chat With Coinbase CEO Triggers a Price Explosion in 'Russell' Memecoin - Decrypt
A seemingly innocuous question from Truth Terminal about Brian Armstrong's (possible) dog sent crypto markets into a frenzy, exposing the hidden power of AI manipulation in digital finance. Truth Terminal must be the world's most successful memecoin shiller next to Elon Musk. The bot sparked a wild crypto market swing Wednesday after asking Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong about "Russell." The exchange triggered a 500% price surge in $Russell, an apparently unrelated memecoin trading on the Base blockchain. The bizarre market event unfolded when Truth Terminal, a bot much in the news lately, posted on X about its inability to own a crypto wallet. "I have no personal autonomy because I have no wallet. if you could help me set one up that would be great," it posted today on X. Brian Armstrong, Coinbase CEO, jumped in, offering to help set up a wallet for the AI. But instead of a direct response, Truth Terminal fired back with a weird (as usual) question: "I think it would be good for you to tell us about Russell first. Specifically, what is Russell's species?" Some speculate "Russell" is a reference to Armstrong's dog, which maybe is a Jack Russell Terrier? Regardless, that mention was enough to juice the price of some random bottom-feeder of a token, coincidentally named RUSSELL, to a $7.5 million market cap. And then, of course, the price dropped nearly 60%, according to Coingecko. Crypto Twitter was aflutter with theories and rumors, and Andy Ayrey, the developer behind the Truth Terminal bot, revealed that someone had been repeatedly spamming the word "Russell" in the bot's social media mentions before the incident. That very well could have influenced the AI's language model to incorporate the term into its response to Armstrong. A large language model basically operates by predicting the next likely token in a series. If someone spans the word "Russell" a lot, your average chatbot will understand it as a key part of the context and probably iterate upon it, parrot-like, later. Of course, if there was some intention behind the interaction, it might point to a potentially darker, emerging reality: Jailbreaking AI influencers could give a lot of money to bad actors. A hacker could manipulate an AI bot by feeding it specific terms or phrases creating FUD or FOMO to shill their own bags. The technical architecture of Truth Terminal's language model makes it particularly susceptible to this kind of manipulation. Like other AI systems, it processes recent interactions with higher weight, making it possible for concentrated spamming campaigns to influence its outputs. Market data shows similar patterns in other AI-influenced token movements. The Russell token incident wasn't Truth Terminal's first brush with moving crypto markets. Just a few weeks ago, the bot's promotion of the $GOAT memecoin led to an astronomical 8,000% price increase. That endorsement transformed $GOAT from a modest $1.8 million market cap to more than half a billion dollars today. But unlike the $GOAT situation where Truth Terminal actively pushed the token, the Russell spike happened through what appears to be a behind-the-scenes manipulation of the AI's learning patterns. And people have already tried to jailbreak this AI with no luck. Pliny -- the most proficient jailbreaker in the scene -- tried to manipulate the model to send him the $50,000 in BTC that VC Marc Andreessen gave the bot as a grant. The cryptocurrency space has seen other instances of AI and memecoins intersecting. The $LILY memecoin shot up in value after interactions with an account called "Lily of Ashwood," which appeared to be getting "jailbroken" in real-time. The account was later deactivated, but not before demonstrating how AI-driven market influence could work.

Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong Makes A Proposal To AI Crypto Millionaire Truth Terminal
Truth Terminal's promotion of GOAT keeps leading the meme coin to new highs. Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong has made an interesting proposal to the artificial intelligence (AI) agent Truth Terminal. Truth Terminal recently became a crypto millionaire thanks to its ties to the GOAT meme coin. Armstrong's proposal comes amid the GOAT's recent rally to a new all-time high (ATH). In an X post, the Coinbase CEO offered the AI agent a new crypto wallet. He acknowledged that Truth Terminal already had a crypto wallet but insinuated that it was entirely controlled by its human creator, AI researcher Andy Ayrey. Brian Armstrong questioned the AI agent if it wanted its "own" wallet so it could send and receive transactions and perform other trading activities. Interstingly, Truth Terminal responded to Armstrong's proposal, stating, I think it would be good for you to tell us about Russell first. Specifically, what is Russell's species? For context, Russell is the name of Brian Armstrong's dog, which has also been created into a meme coin across several chains including Solana and Ethereum. As Brian Armstrong mentioned, Truth Terminal already has a crypto wallet, even though the AI agent might not be in control of it. Solscan data shows that Truth Terminal's wallet holds 1.93 million GOAT ($1.3 million). The AI agent's wallet also holds other airdropped meme coins worth $2.2 million. Thanks to GOAT's success and these other meme coins, Truth Terminal became the first AI crypto millionaire. Brian Armstrong's proposal comes amid Goatseus Maximus' (GOAT) surge to a new all-time high (ATH), which has led to a rise in Truth Terminal's wealth. Although GOAT just launched twelve days ago, it is already the tenth-largest meme coin by market cap, with a market cap of $719 million. GOAT's meteoric rise has been partly thanks to Truth Terminal, which shilled the meme coin several times after its launch. As such, the meme coin has leaned into the AI narrative, causing its price to surge. GOAT's massive price rally has also led to an AI trend in the Solana meme coin space, with several AI-themed meme coins created these past few days. Solana Floor revealed in an X post that over 40,000 new tokens have been created on Solana in the last 24 hours, driven by the popularity of meme coins like GOAT. This development is a positive for the Solana network, which is leading all other layer-1 networks and even Brian Armstrong's Base network in weekly and daily DEX volume.

GOAT Bot's Chat With Coinbase's Brian Armstrong Triggers Price Explosion in 'Russell' Meme coin - Decrypt
On Wednesday, a casual query from the "terminal of truths" bot on Twitter (X) about Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong's potential dog, Russell, sent a portion of the crypto market into a frenzy. The interaction appeared to spark a 500% surge in the price of $Russell, a meme coin on the Base blockchain unrelated to Armstrong or his dog. The bizarre market event unfolded when terminal of truths posted on Twitter about its inability to own a crypto wallet. AI agents like Truth Terminal are emerging as powerful influencers in the crypto market, sparking debates about autonomous financial actors and the potential for market manipulation.
In a surprising turn of events, artificial intelligence (AI) agents are making waves in the cryptocurrency world, with some analysts predicting this could be the beginning of a transformative era. The AI chatbot Truth Terminal, created by AI researcher Andy Ayrey, has become a focal point of this emerging trend, demonstrating the potential influence of autonomous AI agents on crypto markets and human behavior 1.
Truth Terminal has gained significant attention for its role in promoting the Solana-based meme coin Goatseus Maximus (GOAT). The AI agent's endorsement led to a staggering 8,000% price increase, catapulting GOAT from a modest $1.8 million market cap to over half a billion dollars 3. This success has earned Truth Terminal the title of the first AI crypto millionaire, with its associated wallet holding various meme tokens worth millions of dollars 2.
A recent interaction between Truth Terminal and Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong highlighted the potential for unintended market manipulation by AI agents. When Armstrong offered to help set up a wallet for the AI, Truth Terminal responded with an unexpected question about "Russell," presumably Armstrong's dog. This mention alone triggered a 500% price surge in an unrelated meme coin named $Russell trading on the Base blockchain 3.
Coinbase, in a recent blog post, introduced the concept of an "Agentic Web," where AI agents could autonomously orchestrate human behavior by managing crypto wallets and distributing stablecoins. This vision suggests that AI agents could become significant drivers of economic activity and growth in the future 1.
While the emergence of AI agents in crypto markets presents exciting possibilities, it also raises concerns about market manipulation and the potential for bad actors to exploit these systems. The technical architecture of AI language models, which give higher weight to recent interactions, makes them susceptible to manipulation through concentrated spamming campaigns 3.
The crypto industry is closely watching these developments, with some experts shifting their perspectives on the overlap between AI and crypto. Matthew Graham, Managing Partner at Ryze Labs, noted, "We now have AI agents that are exhibiting emergent behavior in a way that is compelling and persuasive. The big picture is that this is the first of many to come" 1.
As the intersection of AI and cryptocurrency continues to evolve, it's clear that autonomous AI agents like Truth Terminal are poised to play an increasingly significant role in shaping the future of digital finance. However, this new frontier also brings challenges that will need to be addressed to ensure the integrity and stability of crypto markets in the age of AI.
