Amazon's newest AI tool is designed to enhance product listings
Amazon said Thursday it is releasing a new generative AI-powered tool to help merchants improve their listings with missing details or attributes. Sellers often have hundreds of products listed on Amazon, and they need to update information related to them from time to time, which can be a cumbersome task. The e-commerce tech giant wants sellers to use its new AI-powered tool, called Enhance My Listing, to make the chore easier. The tool automatically suggests product titles, attributes, descriptions, and missing details to sellers based on seasonal trends. Sellers can accept, reject, or modify these suggestions before updating the product listing in Amazon's catalog. Amazon said it uses its own Amazon Bedrock service for generative AI models to get insights from customer engagement on the platform. Enhance My Listing is rolling out to select sellers in the U.S. starting today, with an expanded rollout scheduled for the coming weeks. The company introduced generative AI tools for sellers starting in 2023 with a feature that helped them write product descriptions. In March 2024, Amazon added a tool that allowed sellers to create a listing by inserting a product URL from their websites. That feature also lets sellers upload a single image or write a few words to generate a listing. Amazon said that over 900,000 sellers have used its generative AI tools to date. The company added that, over 90% of the time, merchants accept AI-generated content without any edits. That's not necessarily an endorsement of the tools' accuracy, to be clear -- it could be that some sellers aren't reviewing the outputs closely.

Amazon Debuts AI-Powered 'Enhance My Listing' for Sellers | PYMNTS.com
Amazon has introduced a way to help sellers maintain and optimize product listings. "Enhance My Listing" is an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered tool designed to let merchants keep their product information current, the eCommerce giant said in a Thursday (May 8) press release provided to PYMNTS. "Selling partners update their listings from time to time to ensure they are relevant, reflective of seasonal trends, and appeal best to buyers," the company said in a news release. "They've told us these updates can sometimes require substantial effort, so we wanted to simplify this process for them." According to the release, Enhance My Listing integrates with sellers' existing product tools. The service is powered by Amazon Bedrock, which the company says lets it quickly evolve its generative AI models according to the latest customer activity and engagement. Amazon says it uses those insights to generate "timely, relevant recommendations" for product titles, attributes, descriptions and missing details, saving sellers from needing to do that research. Sellers can review, customize or decline those recommendations at their discretion. "We've seen great results and received positive feedback, but we also learned that sellers want to use these capabilities for more than just creating listings; they also want to leverage these tools for their existing listings," Amazon said. "Our selling partners told us that keeping listings unique and relevant requires adaptation to customer preferences, for example, by adding new attributes, adjusting to retail trends, or updating listings to attract holiday shoppers." The news comes as Amazon sellers are struggling in the face of U.S. tariffs on imported goods. It's a struggle facing a lot of smaller companies these days. Close to 20% of small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs) say they are pessimistic about their chances of remaining open over the next five years, according to the PYMNTS Intelligence report "Brewing Storm: Why 1 in 5 Smaller Businesses Without Financing Fear They May Not Survive Tariffs." Last week saw a report from Reuters that argued that the effort of third-party sellers on platforms such as Amazon to stock up on products to avoid tariff costs will only work for a short amount of time. That's because consumers are also buying ahead to blunt the impact of tariffs, meaning merchants will eventually sell down their inventory, place new orders and face the challenge of avoiding price increases. Analysts interviewed by Reuters said that it is unlikely merchants can stockpile enough inventory to address their needs for more than six months and that they will experience the full impact of tariffs in the second half of the year.

Amazon introduces a new AI-powered tool called 'Enhance My Listing' to help sellers improve and update their product listings efficiently, leveraging generative AI to suggest optimizations based on customer engagement and seasonal trends.
Amazon has unveiled its latest artificial intelligence (AI) tool, 'Enhance My Listing,' designed to help sellers on its platform improve and update their product listings more efficiently. This new feature, announced on May 8, 2025, aims to streamline the often cumbersome task of maintaining product information for merchants who may have hundreds of items listed on the e-commerce giant's marketplace 1.
The AI-powered tool automatically generates suggestions for product titles, attributes, descriptions, and missing details based on seasonal trends and customer engagement insights. Sellers have the flexibility to accept, reject, or modify these AI-generated recommendations before updating their product listings in Amazon's catalog 2.
Amazon leverages its own Amazon Bedrock service for generative AI models to analyze customer activity on the platform. This integration allows the company to rapidly evolve its AI models and provide timely, relevant recommendations to sellers 2.
'Enhance My Listing' is currently being rolled out to select sellers in the United States, with plans for broader availability in the coming weeks 1. This tool is part of Amazon's ongoing efforts to incorporate AI into its seller services, following the introduction of AI-powered product description generation in 2023 and a feature for creating listings from website URLs or images in March 2024 1.
Amazon reports that over 900,000 sellers have utilized its generative AI tools to date. Notably, the company claims that in more than 90% of cases, merchants accept AI-generated content without making any edits 1. However, it's worth noting that this high acceptance rate may not necessarily indicate perfect accuracy, as some sellers might not be thoroughly reviewing the AI outputs.
'Enhance My Listing' integrates seamlessly with sellers' existing product tools on the Amazon platform. The service aims to simplify the process of keeping product information current, relevant, and appealing to buyers. By leveraging AI to generate recommendations, Amazon seeks to save sellers time and effort in researching and updating their listings 2.
While Amazon introduces this new AI tool to assist sellers, it's important to note the broader challenges facing merchants on the platform. Recent reports highlight the struggles of Amazon sellers, particularly small and medium-sized businesses, in the face of U.S. tariffs on imported goods. Nearly 20% of SMBs express pessimism about their chances of remaining operational over the next five years 2.
The introduction of 'Enhance My Listing' comes at a time when sellers are grappling with inventory management issues related to tariff costs. While some merchants are stocking up on products to mitigate tariff impacts, analysts suggest this strategy may only be effective for a short period, potentially leading to challenges in the second half of the year 2.
