Nvidia backs $180M round for workflow automation startup n8n - SiliconANGLE
German automation software provider n8n GmbH today announced that it has closed a $180 million investment at a $2.5 billion valuation. Accel led the C round, which comes six months after the company's previous raise. It was joined by Nvidia Corp.'s NVentures startup fund, Meritech, Redpoint and several other backers. The cash infusion follows a year in which n8n claims to have seen its revenue grow tenfold. Founded in 2019, n8n develops an eponymous open-source platform for creating automation workflows. Cybersecurity teams can use the software to automatically enrich breach alerts with threat intelligence from external sources. A developer, meanwhile, could create a workflow that generates code based on natural language instructions. Users write n8n workflows in TypeScript, an enhanced version of JavaScript developed by Microsoft Corp. TypeScript includes syntax modifications that make it easier to avoid certain types of software errors. For non-technical users, n8n provides a visual interface that makes it possible to create automation workflows with drag-and-drop controls. Workers can optionally integrate artificial intelligence agents into their n8n workflows. The platform supports LangChain, an open-source toolkit that automates some of the work involved in creating AI agents. The toolkit makes it easier to give AI agents access to external data sources and change the model they use to process prompts. Users have access to several hundred pre-packaged automation workflows that remove the need to create everything from scratch. Additionally, n8n provides integrations that enable those workflows to interact with third-party applications. The company generates revenue through several paid versions of its open-source platform that offer additional features. One of those features makes it easier to secure the login credentials with which automation workflows access external systems. Another paid capability can stream n8n logs to third-party analytics tools. One of n8n's paid offerings, a cloud-based version of its platform, also includes a tool called the n8n AI Assistant. It helps developers fix faulty automation workflows and explain code written by colleagues. Tech firms, meanwhile, have access to an offering called n8n Embed that makes it possible to integrate n8n into software products. "We've been building n8n since 2019, first as an automation tool, then as a platform for AI orchestration and cross-team collaboration," n8n founder and Chief Executive Officer Jan Oberhauser wrote in a blog post.

Amidst Competition from OpenAI, n8n Raises $180 Mn | AIM
n8n, the German AI startup, has raised $180 million in its Series C funding round, at a valuation of $2.5 billion. The round was led by Accel Ventures, with support from Meritech, Redpoint, Evantic, and others. This brings the startup's total funds raised to $240 million. Founded in 2019, the startup assists developers in creating automation workflows and AI agents. By leveraging n8n, users can design workflows that operate across different tools, data sources, and AI models to carry out multiple tasks. The no-code platform enables users to visually create automated workflows by connecting nodes, triggers, actions, integrations, and custom code. These workflows can be deployed on either cloud or self-hosted environments. "This investment recognises something fundamental: the AI race isn't only about smarter models - it's about who can actually put that intelligence to work reliably, inside actual businesses," said n8n in a statement. Many leading companies today leverage n8n to develop workflows aimed at boosting operational efficiency. For example, Vodafone utilised n8n for threat intelligence, which resulted in savings of £2.2 million ( ~$2.79 million), 5,000 person-days, and ongoing monthly savings of thousands of pounds. The startup also revealed that this year has led to a sixfold increase in user growth and a tenfold increase in revenue growth. According to a July report from Sacra, the startup reached an annual recurring revenue of $40 million. The funding announcement has arrived days after OpenAI's DevDay event, where the ChatGPT-maker announced a new 'AgentKit' product. This allows users to build automation workflows through a visual canvas-like interface, with no-code features similar to those offered by n8n. Many speculated that the release posed an immediate threat to platforms such as n8n, Zapier, and Make. However, after experimenting with OpenAI's Agent Builder tool in AgentKit, users have pointed out several nuances in the competition. An AI consultant wrote on X that after trying OpenAI's product, he encountered issues, such as the lack of a feedback loop and the absence of production logs. He also mentioned facing various security limitations, issues with domain access controls, and more. "Agent Builder is a fascinating glimpse of what's to come. But an 'n8n killer'? Not yet. For now, the old guard is safe," he added. Another user said on X, "Agent Builder is not even in the same stratosphere as n8n. It's like comparing a text editor to a full-blown IDE, or a note-taking app to a word processor."

AI Agent Startup n8n Valued at $2.5 Billion After Series C | PYMNTS.com
By completing this form, you agree to receive marketing communications from PYMNTS and to the sharing of your information with our sponsor, if applicable, in accordance with our Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions. The company's Series C round, which included participation from Nvidia's investment arm, values n8n at $2.5 billion, according to a Thursday (Oct. 9) announcement. Based in Germany, n8n helps companies develop and deploy agentic AI automations. "n8n has built the automation and orchestration layer for the AI era: today, more than 80% of workflows built on n8n embed AI agents," Accel, which led the funding round, wrote in its own announcement. "n8n has dramatically expanded the share of work that can be automated. Teams can fully customize workflows, mixing AI agents with deterministic steps and team inputs where required." Launched in 2019, n8n began as an automation tool, then became a platform for AI orchestration and cross-team collaboration, the company said in its announcement. In an interview with Bloomberg News, n8n CEO Jan Oberhauser said his company's tech has let customers such as Vodafone make significant cost cuts. "We've seen billions of dollars going into AI investment, but many organizations aren't seeing meaningful results," he said. "We're saving users millions of dollars." Oberhauser said the company's revenues have risen by tenfold in the past year but he declined to reveal an exact figure. The company's funding round is happening at a moment where "agentic commerce has overtaken Gen AI as the focus" of the AI world, as PYMNTS wrote last week. "As CFOs plan for 2026, the real question is not whether to spend on GenAI, enterprise AI, or agentic AI but how these tools solve the problems that keep them up at night," Kevin Akeroyd, chief executive of Sovos, said in an interview with PYMNTS. "They're weighing how AI can improve efficiency in areas such as tax compliance and reporting, while reducing risk as regulations evolve. The best budgets balance ambition with caution, leaving room to test new technologies while doubling down on proven enterprise applications." Research by PYMNTS Intelligence has found that 26.7% of chief financial officers (CFOs) plan to raise generative AI budgets in the next 12 months, compared to 53.3% a year ago. This decline, the same report said, "highlights a pivot from experimental adoption to more disciplined deployment."
