Pixel 10, AI capabilities, and everything else we expect out of the Made by Google 2025 event | TechCrunch
As anticipation builds for the Made by Google 2025 event, there's a buzz around the Pixel 10 series, arriving notably before the iPhone 17. Apple's hardware event is expected to take place in September. The tech giant has made its intentions clear to grow the Pixel line, likely incorporating more generative AI capabilities with Gemini. Made by Google starts at 10 a.m. PT on Wednesday. Google already dropped several AI-related updates at its developer conference in May, but the company will likely demonstrate more Gemini features during the Pixel 10 event. In a recent YouTube video promoting the new devices, Google even seemed to poke fun at Apple's failed promises with Apple Intelligence advancements on the iPhone. Rumors are buzzing about a feature called "Camera Coach," which would let Gemini give you real-time tips for taking better photos. The AI is supposedly able to see what's going on and suggest the best angles and lighting for your shot. There's also talk of a conversational photo editing tool, where you tell Gemini what you want to tweak in a photo, such as increasing the brightness, removing objects, or changing the background. The standard Pixel 10 phone is expected to undergo significant changes, particularly with the addition of a dedicated telephoto lens, a feature that was previously exclusive to the Pro models. Following the leak of renders showcasing the third rear lens, Google released a teaser for the Pixel 10, confirming the substantial camera upgrade. Additionally, all phones in the lineup are expected to be powered by a new Tensor G5 processor, ushering in the Gemini era and enhancing performance and power efficiency compared to the Tensor G4 chip. Aside from these updates, not many obvious changes appear to be on the table. The basic design of the phones will likely remain similar to that of the Pixel 9 series. The displays are also expected to stay the same, with the Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro featuring a 6.3-inch display, and the Pixel 10 Pro XL with a larger 6.8-inch display. Some areas where the Pro models may see improvement are camera and video quality, along with battery size, which could allow for faster charging and could address the longevity gap between Pixel and flagship phones from Apple and Samsung. Plus, there is talk that the Pixel 10 series could support Qi2 wireless charging. If true, this means it would be one of the few Android phones to work with magnetic accessories, such as chargers, wallets, and mounts. Google is also reportedly launching a "Pixelsnap" phone case with a magnetic ring in the center. As for Google's upcoming foldable, there are rumors suggesting it'll have a larger cover display, measuring at around 6.4 inches, alongside an 8-inch main screen. Additionally, Google is reportedly enhancing the strength of the hinge, and the bezels are expected to be thinner for a sleek appearance. Another exciting rumor is the possibility of an IP68 rating, a first for the device. (And according to leaked specs, this may in fact be coming.) This means it can stand up to both dust and water, whereas the Pixel 9 Pro Fold has zero dust protection. Like the other Pixel 10 phones, the Pro Fold will likely be powered by the new G5 chip and include the latest Gemini AI features. The camera system might also receive improvements, potentially featuring a 48-megapixel ultra-wide lens and a telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom. The phone should also likely get a bump in battery life. The Pixel 10 may come in Moonstone and Jade colors. Wearables will also get their time to shine at Google's event, with the Pixel Watch 4 rumored to get a thicker design, a longer battery life, and smaller bezels. There's also a strong likelihood that the smartwatch will introduce new health and fitness-tracking capabilities, possibly including an upgraded blood oxygen (SpO2) monitoring function. Leaks of the Pixel Buds 2a indicate that the earbuds will come in new colors (Fog Light, Hazel, Iris, and Strawberry) along with features like active noise cancellation. The Pixel Buds Pro 2 will also reportedly come in a new Sterling color. This story has been updated to include additional rumors.

How to watch Made by Google Pixel 10 launch event live today
Yes, September is all about iPhone, but Google is taking center stage today with its hotly anticipated Pixel hardware event. Thanks to a parade of leaks, we think we know mostly what to expect today -- Pixel 10 phones, along with new watches and earbuds -- but we'll know for sure later today. That's because the event kicks off at 1PM ET. If you want to be the first to hear the official scoop, you can tune into the Made by Google YouTube channel (or right here!) to catch Google's event, which will be hosted by Jimmy Fallon and also include other celebrities like Stephen Curry, Lando Norris and the Jonas Brothers -- get ready for some potentially awkward cue card readings! And open a second window to follow our Pixel event liveblog for real-time analysis. What's on tap? You can expect a more power-efficient Tensor G5 processor in all the new Pixel 10 phones. (That could help power new Gemini AI features, too.) The base-level Pixel 10 should get a big camera upgrade: a 5x telephoto lens. Before this generation, you had to splurge on a Pro or Fold model to get optical zoom. Cameras will be higher-res across the board, too. In other areas, Qi2 magnetic charging is expected to come to the new Pixels. Expect a new accessory ecosystem, a la Apple's MagSafe, dubbed "Pixelsnap." We'll also likely see the Pixel Watch 4 with a larger battery and smaller bezels. And the Pixel Buds 2a could bring refinements to the company's budget earbuds. Engadget's Pixel 10 leak roundup will give you a much more detailed dive into the rumors. You can head back here on August 20 at 1PM ET to watch live.

Google Pixel 10 launch event: New phones, foldables and watches at the Made by Google event
Google seems dead-set on making a big splash at this event, too. On the Friday before Made by Google, the company dropped a video on X noting that a number of "special guests" were participating, including Jimmy Fallon, Stephen Curry, Lando Norris and the Jonas Brothers. What they all will have to do with a phone launch remains to be seen. Google remains as leak-prone as ever, so nearly all the new hardware the company is expected to announce has all ready been reported on in one form or another. With that in mind and after sifting through what has leaked, here's what Google will show off at the Pixel 10 launch even in New York City on August 20. Google's invitation for the event says that the company is sharing "the latest on our Pixel phones, watches, buds and more," which more or less confirms the company will introduce a slate of products that's similar to what it launched in 2024. That means a Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL and Pixel 10 Pro Fold are absolutely on the menu. Google's tease of the Pixel 10 confirmed what leaked renders have already signaled: the company isn't abandoning the new design language the Pixel 9 established. The pill-shaped camera bump and flat front display will still be present on the Pixel 10, and the real changes will be in the details, like for example, how the flat sides of the Pixel 10 join with the phone's back. Those subtle changes will apparently also include the thickness of the Pixel 10s. While both the Pixel 10, 10 Pro, 10 Pro XL and 10 Pro Fold will use the same sized OLED screens as their Pixel 9 counterparts, they'll be housed in thicker and heavier bodies, according to Android Headlines. Google's new Pixels are also supposed to come in new colors. The Pixel 10 will come in "Frost" (a royal blue), "Lemongrass" (a yellow), "Indigo" (a light purple) and "Obsidian" (a dark gray), while the Pixel 10 Pro / Pro XL will come in Obsidian, "Porcelain" (off-white), "Moonstone" (a bluish gray) and "Jade" (a light green). Less information is known about the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, though recent leaks suggest it'll come in Moonstone and Jade, as well. The most visible external change that'll be introduced on the Pixel 10 is the addition of a new telephoto camera. The new telephoto camera is a 11-megapixel 5x telephoto, Android Authority reports, similar to the one on the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Meanwhile, the Pixel 10 Pro and 10 Pro XL are expected to feature a 50-megapixel wide, 48-megapixel ultrawide, 48-megapixel telephoto and 48-megapixel selfie cameras. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold could feature a different lineup, with a similar main camera, but 12-megapixel ultrawide and telephoto cameras, and 11-megapixel selfie cameras. Inside the new phones, Google is laying the groundwork for future performance gains with a new Tensor G5 chip. It's likely be much more power-efficient thanks to the company switching to a 3nm design produced by TSMC. Reports suggest the chip might not be all that different in terms of raw power, but the Tensor G5 is likely designed to be extra capable when it comes to using local AI features. As far as timing goes, it's worth noting that the latest rumors indicate that the Pixel 10, 10 Pro and 10 Pro XL will be available about a week after the event, on August 28. But the Pixel 10 Pro Fold (as well as the Pixel Watch 4 and Pixel Buds 2a aren't expected for more than a month after that. Those devices are rumored to be on sale as of October 9. While global tariff turmoil could justify a price increase, Google is reportedly keeping things consistent with the Pixel 10 family. They'll offer similar storage options, come in at the same prices and include the same freebies and incentives. The Pixel 10 will come with six months of Google AI Pro and Fitbit Premium, along with three months of YouTube Premium. Meanwhile the Pixel 10 Pro models will get a year of Google AI Pro, six months of Fitbit Premium and three months of YouTube Premium. The prices and storage options for the phones should breakout down as follows: The third time was the charm for the Pixel Watch 3, so the main task Google has with the Pixel Watch 4 is to not squander the solid base it already has. Leaks for the company's new smartwatches have been limited so far, but renders of the Pixel Watch 4 shared by 91mobiles do suggest Google has a few changes planned. Namely, much like the company's phones, the new Pixel Watch seems like it'll be a little bit thicker and come with smaller bezels. The Pixel Watch 4 should be available to purchase in the same 41mm and 45mm sizes as before, but in new colors -- including a Moonstone option to match the Pixel 10 -- and with a brighter display. The thicker frame will also help the smartwatch fit a larger battery and a new wireless charging system, according to Android Headlines. Rather than charge through a puck with pogo pins like the Pixel Watch 3, the Pixel Watch 4 will use a wireless charging stand that could fill it up even faster. Beyond that, Google has already indicated how Wear OS is evolving. The new Wear OS 6 update is debuting on the Samsung Galaxy Watch 8, and will presumably be available on the Pixel Watch 4 at launch. It includes built-in access to Gemini, among other tweaks. Given Google also manages the Fitbit Premium subscription, it wouldn't be all that surprising if the Pixel Watch 4 gets some exclusive fitness tracking features, too. Google launched the Pixel Buds Pro 2 last year, and it typically doesn't update its premium earbuds on a yearly cadence. So instead, Tom's Guide reports Google might pair the Pixel 10 with the Pixel Buds Pro 2 in a new color, and save its new hardware announcements for a sequel to the Pixel Buds A-series called the Pixel Buds 2a. Unlike the company's premium wireless earbuds, the A-series Pixel Buds have historically skimped on things like active noise cancellation to hit a lower price. There's little reporting on where Google will take the Pixel Buds 2a, but you can expect the new earbuds to come in some of the new colors being introduced on the Pixel 10. The Qi2 wireless charging standard is available for all phone makers to use, but it hasn't been widely adopted among Android phone makers. Qi2 uses magnets to offer improved charging speeds, just like Apple's MagSafe, and the Pixel 10 could mark Google's adoption of Qi2 through a new feature called "Pixelsnap." A report from Android Authority suggests the Pixel 10 will include the necessary magnets to make Qi2 happen, and will be introduced alongside a lineup of Pixelsnap accessories. New leaked images showing a Pixel 10 charging with a magnetic charging puck that looks a lot like Apple's MagSafe charger adds even more credence to the rumor. If you need even more convincing, the Wireless Power Consortium has announced that its faster Qi2 25W charging is coming to "major Android phones." It would make sense if Google's Pixel 10s were included considering runs Android itself. Gemini is Google's current favorite, and the company is pushing the AI assistant everywhere it makes sense. The last few Pixel Drops -- Google's regular Pixel-focused software updates -- have primarily included Gemini features. It would make sense for Google to include a few more software exclusives on the Pixel 10. Google is hosting the Pixel 10 launch event on August 20 at 1PM ET / 10AM ET. The company has invited press to attend in person, and you can read coverage of everything Google announces right here on Engadget. These final Pixel 10 leaks reveal almost everything about Google's next flagship - including a potentially controversial change
We only have a few hours left before the Google Pixel 10 is official, and you can follow all of the latest news in our Pixel 10 launch liveblog. But leakers aren't slowing down: we've got a repeated rumor about a controversial design change, plus a 30-second clip showing off some Pixel 10 features. First that design change, and well-known tipster @evleaks has again hinted that the Pixel 10 phones will be eSIM-only, by posting what looks to be an image from the phone's packaging: "you no longer need a physical SIM card" the text reads. It's something that the same source predicted earlier this month, though it's not clear which regions and handsets this would apply to. It seems it may be a US-only move, and that the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold will hang on to a physical SIM card slot. There are a lot of advantages to eSIMs, which make it easier to set up and swap numbers, but some users still prefer the physical SIM - especially for convenience when traveling and swapping between services. Apple went eSIM-only with the iPhone 14 back in 2022, though iPhones outside the US still have SIM slots. Our second leak of the day comes from another veteran tipster, @MysteryLupin. It's a full 30-second promotional clip for the Google Pixel 10, showing off some of the features we can expect - though it is in French. We have Gemini Live shown off here, which of course isn't a new feature. In the demo, the user asks how to make an espresso using the coffee machine that's just been unboxed, and Google's AI serves up the necessary instructions. One feature here that is new is Coach Photo, which seems to be a way of helping you get the best photos by advising you on framing, zooming, and so on. It's something that's already been rumored, albeit under the name Camera Coach. The last feature demoed is Video Boost for stabilizing shaky video: it's already available on Pro Pixels, but the indications from this video are that it may come to the base Pixel 10 this year (presumably it has the necessary processing power to handle it). There's more to mention: @evleaks has also confirmed what we've heard from previous leaks that Pixel 10 pricing will match Pixel 9 pricing - so the range should be starting at $799 / ยฃ799 / AU$1,349 for the cheapest Pixel 10, and going up from there. We also have a social post from @rquandt.bsky.socialโฌ, another reliable tipster, showing off marketing materials and specs for the Pixel 10 handsets, including screen sizes: 6.3 inches for the Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro, and 6.8 inches for the Pixel 10 Pro XL. The rumored Pixelsnap wireless charging is also mentioned again. As for the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, it's listed as having a 6.4-inch outer display and an 8-inch inner one. Based on this leak it seems as though the phone may have delayed availability, with one Belgian retailer suggesting that preorders will start on September 25. All of this will shortly be made official, and we'll bring you the news as it happens. The Made by Google event gets underway at 10am PT / 1am ET / 6pm BST today (August 20), which is August 21 at 3am AEST for Australia, and you can watch along online.

Google Pixel 10 Ad Leaked Hours Ahead of Official Launch
* Google Pixel 10 could feature a Tensor G5 SoC * Google Pixel 10 Pro series could come with Video Boost support * The company is expected to also unveil a new smartwatch Google Pixel 10 series is expected to launch later today (August 20), alongside the Pixel Watch 4 and Pixel Buds 2a. However, ahead of its imminent unveiling, an alleged Google Pixel 10 ad for the French market has leaked online. While the ad doesn't reveal much, it demonstrates the handset's artificial intelligence (AI)-powered camera features. In the past, the specifications and prices of the entire lineup have surfaced online. Google Pixel 10 Series' Ad Shows Gemini Live Features An X (formerly Twitter) account, with the username Pixel Updates (@pixel_updates), has shared an alleged advertisement for the upcoming Google Pixel 10 series in the French market. The ad showcases the phone's Gemini Live-enabled AI capabilities, where a couple uses the phone to ask the handset about a new coffee machine they have just unboxed. Additionally, the video suggests that the Pixel 10 camera would come with "Coach Photo" support, where the smartphone would provide suggestions for frame adjustments to take better-composed photos. For example, the native camera app could seemingly prompt a Google Pixel 10 user to move their phone upwards if the subject's head is not being fully captured. On top of this, the ad reveals that two of the Google Pixel 10 series handsets could feature a Video Boost mode that would stabilise shaky footage. The ad demonstrates the feature by showing a user recording his/her friend while they run through a jungle. The feature might only be available on the Google Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL. The camera specifications for the handsets have been surfacing online for a while. Recent reports suggest that the Google Pixel 10 could feature a triple rear camera setup, comprising a 48-megapixel 1/2.0-inch primary sensor, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide sensor, and a 10.8-megapixel 5x telephoto lens. The phone could be powered by Google's Tensor G5 chip, paired with up to 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of onboard storage. It is speculated to pack a 4,970mAh battery with 29W wired and 15W Qi2 wireless charging support. On the other hand, the Google Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL could also ship with a triple rear camera setup with a 50-megapixel primary sensor, a 48-megapixel ultrawide-angle shooter, and a 48-megapixel telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom. On the front, the phones might carry a 42-megapixel selfie camera. The US-based tech giant will reportedly offer a 4,870mAh battery with the Pixel 10 Pro and a 5,200mAh battery with the Pixel 10 Pro XL.

Every FINAL Google Pixel 10 Leak Before Launch Day
The Google Pixel 10 series represents a pivotal moment in Google's smartphone lineup, blending thoughtful design updates, hardware enhancements, and advanced features to cater to a diverse audience. This series includes four models: the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and the foldable Pixel 10 Pro Fold. While the devices promise improved performance, larger batteries, and new accessories, some trade-offs -- particularly in camera specifications -- may spark debate among users. The video below from ZONEofTECH gives us more details about the new Pixel 10 range. The Pixel 10 series maintains Google's signature design language while introducing subtle refinements to improve both aesthetics and functionality. Key design elements include flat edges, rounded corners, and a pill-shaped camera module. These updates aim to enhance usability, though the devices are slightly thicker and heavier than their predecessors, which could affect one-handed use. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold stands out with its foldable design, offering a unique form factor for multitasking and media consumption. However, its bulkier build may feel less streamlined compared to competitors like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7. Color options vary across the lineup, with the Pixel 10 available in Frost, Obsidian, Lemongrass, and Indigo. The Pro models expand the palette with Porcelain, Moonstone, and Jade, providing a broader range of choices for users seeking personalization. The Pixel 10 series retains the display sizes of the Pixel 9 lineup, offering a variety of options to suit different user preferences: The displays feature a 120Hz refresh rate, making sure smoother scrolling and animations for an improved user experience. Enhanced brightness levels make the screens more visible in outdoor settings, while a matte coating reduces glare for better readability. Additionally, the inclusion of PWM dimming technology minimizes eye strain during prolonged use, making the devices more comfortable for extended viewing sessions. The Pixel 10 series introduces a triple-lens camera setup for the standard model, marking a significant step forward in versatility. However, there are some compromises in sensor resolution: The Pro models retain the same camera hardware as the Pixel 9 Pro, ensuring consistent performance for photography enthusiasts. While the resolution downgrades may disappoint some users, the addition of the telephoto lens in the standard model enhances its overall photographic capabilities. Advanced AI-driven features, such as improved Night Sight and Real Tone, further refine the camera experience, keeping the Pixel 10 series competitive in the smartphone photography space. The Pixel 10 series is powered by Google's Tensor G5 chip, built on TSMC's innovative 3nm process. This processor delivers significant improvements in performance and efficiency: To address heat management during demanding tasks, the Pro models (excluding the Fold) feature a vapor cooling chamber. This ensures sustained performance without thermal throttling, making the devices suitable for power users and gamers alike. The Pixel 10 series offers a range of memory and storage options to meet the needs of different users: These configurations provide ample capacity for multitasking, media storage, and app usage, catering to both casual users and professionals who require more robust performance. Battery life sees a notable improvement across the Pixel 10 lineup, with larger capacities designed to support all-day use: Charging speeds have also been upgraded, with support for 29W fast charging. This ensures quicker top-ups, reducing downtime for users with busy schedules. Wireless charging capabilities remain a staple feature, complemented by the new Pixel Snap accessories, which include wireless chargers and stands for added convenience. Google continues to use AI to enhance the user experience, introducing new features that streamline daily tasks and improve device functionality: The Pixel 10 series is also designed to integrate seamlessly with Google's broader ecosystem. The anticipated launch of the Pixel Watch 4 and Pixel Buds 2A further expands the range of connected devices, offering users a cohesive and interconnected experience. The Pixel 10 series is scheduled to launch at an event in New York on August 20, 2025. Pricing is expected to be competitive within the premium smartphone market: These price points reflect Google's strategy to offer a balance of premium features and value, positioning the Pixel 10 series as a strong contender against rivals in the high-end smartphone segment. Here are additional guides from our expansive article library that you may find useful on Google Pixel 10.
