Comparing iQOO Z9 Lite 5G and Redmi 13 5G: which budget 5G phone is better?
The iQOO Z9 Lite 5G has landed in India as the company's latest budget offering. Starting at just Rs 10,499, it offers considerable specifications. While a bit costly, the Redmi 13 5G makes a great alternative to the iQOO Z9 Lite 5G in this segment. In this article, we'll compare the iQOO Z9 Lite 5G with the Redmi 13 5G to see which device is a better choice for the asking price. The iQOO Z9 Lite has a plastic body with a 3D design. The back of the Aqua Flow edition features a design reminiscent of the waves of the ocean. However, the Mocha Brown shade features a matte-like brown finish with golden camera rings, giving it a sophisticated look. On the other hand, the Redmi 13 5G has a glass back with a glossy finish. The Hawaiian Blue variant has a wave-like pattern, whilst the Orchid Pink and Black Diamond come with a standard rear. The Redmi 13 5G comes with an IP53 rating, while the iQOO Z9 Lite has an IP64 protection against dust and water splashes. Both phones offer a premium look and finish for their prices. While both phones have an IPS LCD panel, the Redmi 13 5G has a superior display with an FHD+ resolution, a smoother 120Hz refresh rate, and a larger screen size. The iQOO Z9 Lite 5G's HD resolution and 90Hz refresh rate might feel outdated and won't deliver as good a viewing experience as the Redmi 13 5G. Besides that, the Redmi 13 5G also features Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for protection against scratches. The Redmi 13 5G also has a wet touch feature that lets you use the device with wet hands. While we're yet to test the performance of the iQOO Z9 Lite 5G, we already know how well the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 SoC performs. The chipset scored 433,932 points on AnTuTu and on Geekbench, it secured 781 points in the single-core test and 1,981 points in the multi-core test. The Redmi 13 5G has a more powerful processor at its helm. In our testing, the device secured 445,212 points on AnTuTu, and on Geekbench, it scored 952 points in the single-core test and 2,261 points in the multi-core test. While the difference in score may seem negligible, the RAM and storage options are also factors that affect performance and multitasking. The Redmi 13 5G comes with up to 8GB RAM and more advanced UFS 2.2 storage, while the iQOO Z9 Lite 5G only offers up to 6GB RAM, and a slow eMMC 5.1 storage. The Redmi 13 5G has a significantly better 108MP primary camera than the iQOO Z9 Lite 5G's 50MP main sensor. It also has a better 13MP selfie snapper compared to the iQOO Z9 Lite 5 G's 8MP shooter. Expect more details and clarity in pictures taken on the Redmi 13 5G, thanks to the high-megapixel camera sensors. While both devices have a 2MP secondary sensor, they serve different purposes. The bokeh sensor of the iQOO Z9 Lite 5G adds depth to the subject and a blurry effect to the rest of the image. On the other hand, the Redmi 13 5G's macro sensor lets you capture close-up shots of small subjects. Overall, the Redmi 13 5G has a better camera setup for both rear and front than the iQOO Z9 Lite 5G. Both phones draw power from a decent-sized battery capacity. The Redmi 13 5G has a slightly bigger cell than the iQOO Z9 Lite 5G and supports a faster charging speed. In our testing, the Redmi 13 5G lasted more than 14 hours on the PCMark battery test and took 1 hour and 26 minutes to fully charge the device from 20 percent to 100 percent. While we haven't tested the battery life or charging speed of the iQOO Z9 Lite 5G, you can expect it to deliver a decent battery backup, but charging the device can take even longer than the already slow Redmi 5G. Both devices run on the latest Android 14-based custom skin out of the box. The Redmi 13 5G comes with Xiaomi's new HyperOS, while the iQOO Z9 Lite 5G comes with FuntouchOS. Both phones come pre-loaded with several third-party apps, but you can always remove them. Xiaomi promises two years of OS updates and four years of security patches with the Redmi 13 5G, while the iQOO Z9 Lite 5G will get two major Android releases and three years of security updates. You get an additional year of security releases with the Redmi 13 5G. Unfortunately, neither of the devices features any advanced AI technology. The Redmi 13 5G is, without a doubt, a better pick among the two. It has better specifications and offers more software updates than the iQOO Z9 Lite 5G. However, it's slightly costlier than the iQOO Z9 Lite 5G. On the other hand, the iQOO Z9 Lite 5G offers respectable specifications for the asking price. If you're on a tight budget and aren't a heavy user, the iQOO Z9 Lite 5G won't disappoint you.
