Infosys Launches Small Language Models for Enterprise AI

Infosys, a global leader in digital services and consulting, has unveiled two new small language models (SLMs) - Infosys Topaz BankingSLM and Infosys Topaz ITOpsSLM - built on NVIDIA's AI stack 12. These models are designed to accelerate AI adoption in enterprises, particularly in the banking and IT operations sectors.

Collaboration with NVIDIA and Sarvam AI

The development of these SLMs is the result of a strategic partnership between Infosys, NVIDIA, and Sarvam AI. Sarvam AI has deployed a robust AI infrastructure, processing over 2 million pages of data to develop advanced models using NVIDIA's technology stack 1. The models utilize both general and industry-specific data, enhanced by NVIDIA's AI Enterprise and NVIDIA AI Foundry 3.

Features and Capabilities

The newly developed SLMs have demonstrated benchmark-leading performance, outperforming comparable models of similar size 1. They are integrated into existing Infosys offerings, such as Infosys Finacle and Infosys Topaz, to support various business functions 3. Infosys also provides these models as services, including pretraining-as-a-service and fine-tuning-as-a-service, enabling businesses to build their own custom AI models securely and in compliance with industry standards 4.

Infosys Center of Excellence for NVIDIA Technologies

The SLMs were developed as part of Infosys' dedicated center of excellence for NVIDIA technologies. This center serves as a centralized hub for AI-powered solutions, fostering co-innovation and faster enterprise AI adoption 3. The collaboration also includes work on NIM Agent Blueprints to streamline AI application development and integrate innovations such as the new Digital Human blueprint for customer service 4.

Expanding AI Partnerships

In addition to the NVIDIA partnership, Infosys has recently expanded its collaboration with Meta to drive innovation in generative AI through open-source initiatives 5. The company is leveraging Meta's Llama stack, a family of open-source large language models and tools, to develop industry-specific use cases and accelerate enterprise AI integration 5.

Impact on Enterprise AI Adoption

Balakrishna D. R., Executive Vice President at Infosys, emphasized the significance of these developments, stating, "By integrating the NVIDIA AI stack with Infosys Topaz, we are taking advantage of very advanced enterprise AI capabilities to tackle unique business challenges, enhance operational efficiency, and deliver bespoke solutions that drive business value for our clients" 4.

Jay Puri, Executive Vice President at NVIDIA, added, "Generative AI and the recent advancements in agentic and physical AI are ushering in a new era of innovation and productivity for enterprises worldwide" 4.

These initiatives by Infosys, in collaboration with industry leaders like NVIDIA and Meta, are set to transform various sectors by enabling businesses to build and deploy custom AI applications, potentially unlocking new levels of productivity and innovation in the enterprise AI landscape.
