Larsen & Toubro (L&T), India's leading tech-driven conglomerate, has announced a strategic partnership with E2E Networks, a prominent Indian Cloud and AI Cloud provider. This collaboration aims to accelerate the adoption of Generative AI (GenAI) solutions in India, marking a significant shift in how accelerated computing on the cloud is utilized by Indian organizations 12.

Strategic Acquisition and Integration

As part of this partnership, L&T will acquire a 21% stake in E2E Networks through a combination of primary and secondary transactions, valued at approximately ₹1,327 crore ($160 million) 4. This move allows L&T to integrate E2E Networks' Cloud and AI Cloud platforms with its own expertise in data center management and cloud solutions 2.

The collaboration between L&T and E2E Networks is set to transform the landscape of accelerated computing by making AI-driven, cloud-based solutions more accessible to Indian organizations. This initiative aims to enhance productivity and scalability across various industries 1.

  1. The partnership focuses on implementing GenAI software solutions using Cloud GPUs, enabling organizations to deploy and evolve production-grade self-adapting AI Software 2.
  2. E2E Networks, known for introducing cloud-based GPUs in India in 2018 through its relationship with Nvidia, offers advanced cloud computing solutions including the AI/ML platform TIR and cloud GPUs such as Nvidia A100, H100, and H200 4.
  3. The collaboration targets startups and enterprises, aiming to accelerate digital transformation and foster a technology-driven, sustainable future for India 2.

Industry Impact and Future Prospects

Tarun Dua, Chairman and Managing Director of E2E Networks, emphasized the significance of this partnership for the adoption of domestically built HyperScaler Cloud Platforms in India. He stated, "The narrative in India has changed from being viewed as a digital colony to that of evolving into a provider of sovereign cloud platforms to the world" 12.

Seema Ambastha, Chief Executive of L&T Data Centre and Cloud Business, highlighted the partnership's potential to offer clients seamless, scalable, and secure cloud experiences. She noted, "By combining our capabilities, we are delivering a cloud ecosystem designed for businesses in India that want to drive growth, optimize costs and unlock the full potential of AI and digital transformation" 12.

L&T's Strategic Expansion

This partnership aligns with L&T's broader strategy to expand its presence in the data center and cloud computing sectors. Hasit Joshipura, adviser to the chairman of L&T Group for data centre and cloud, revealed that L&T has identified semiconductors, marketplaces, and data centers as future growth engines 4.

L&T currently builds half of the data centers in India and operates data centers for some state governments. The company has also set up a proof of concept, a 2 MW data center in Panvel, and now runs 30 MW, of which 12 MW is live in Sriperumbudur, near Chennai 4.

This strategic move positions L&T at the forefront of the rapidly growing AI market in India, promising to drive innovation and digital transformation across various sectors of the Indian economy.
