Hands-on: Lenovo has something for everyone with its latest trio of Android tablets [Gallery]
At CES 2025 earlier this week, Lenovo announced a handful of new Android tablets coming out this year, and there's something here for everyone. Starting with the flagship, the new Lenovo Yoga Tab Plus is a $699 Android tablet with a 12.7-inch anti-reflective 144Hz display, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, and a focus on AI features that work on-device. The Yoga Tab Plus puts out a great showing in terms of hardware, with flashy design that includes a reflective glass bar around the back, giving classic Pixel vibes and also matching the Yoga Slim 9i that also launched at the show. It has a magnetic kickstand that fits underneath the bar, and the tablet as a whole is super thin too. There's a keyboard case included in the price, and you'll also get a Tab Pen Pro and a 45W charger in the box as well. The keyboard felt great, as Lenovo's keyboards generally do, and the magnetic connection was strong. I do wish, though, that the keyboard and kickstand were connected for better stability, but this is the going industry standard nowadays. The on-device AI features weren't ready for a CES demo (a little odd, as the tablet is already available for purchase), but there's a button on the keyboard to directly access them, and the 16GB of onboard RAM should make this tablet fly through on-device AI, while also just making it a killer performer in general. As "flagship" level Android tablets go, this should be a solid contender. Lenovo originally said this was supposed to launch with Android 15, but it's actually Android 14 out of the box, though with Lenovo's "PC Mode" available for a better keyboard/trackpad workspace. Lenovo Yoga Plus is available now from Lenovo.com and Best Buy, but the blue color is coming later. Meanwhile, the Idea Tab Plus delivers effectively the same hardware and software, just for a lower price. The chip is swapped out a with a MediaTek Dimensity 8400 and there's half as much RAM at 8GB. But at $349, this tablet is presenting a killer value. For many, I think the Idea Tab Plus will be a great big-tablet option, especially at that price. I saw no problems with the hardware at all, and the performance in my quick look was solid enough too. Idea Tab Plus will be available in April. Finally, the Lenovo Tab is a $150 base tablet. It's not very powerful with just 4GB of RAM and a low-end MediaTek chip, but its price makes it easily accessible, and Lenovo will be offering it with a cover designed for kids. The hardware was solid and the 10.1-inch screen is good. I'm not sure how the software will hold up with the minimal specs, though, as Lenovo's software is notorious for being laggy even on high-power devices. This seems like an alternative to the Galaxy Tab A9, but I think I'd opt for Samsung on a performance level. I was surprised to see that Lenovo's tablet wasn't too bogged down in my demo at CES, though, so I'm at least hopeful it'll deliver a decent experience.

Two speakers and dual USB-C ports round out the hardware, with the ports offering the ability to bypass battery charging when plugged in, which helps with battery health and reduces heat generation. Inside is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, which supports ray tracing and frame rates of up to 165 frames per second (fps). It is equipped with 12GB of LPDD5x RAM and 256GB of UFS 4.0 storage. There are also connectivity upgrades with Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, improving on the Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 found in its predecessor. The Legion Tab has a 6,550mAh battery that supports up to 45W fast charging. Its cameras include a 13MP rear shooter and an 8MP front-facing camera. The Lenovo Legion Tab will be available this month, starting at $499.99. Lenovo Idea Tab Pro The Lenovo Idea Tab Pro measures 11.55 by 7.51 by 0.27 inches and weighs 1.36 pounds. It features a 12.7-inch LCD with a resolution of 2,944 by 1,840 pixels, a 144Hz refresh rate, and a maximum brightness of 400 nits. The tablet is available in Luna Grey and Seafoam Green. The Idea Tab Pro is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8300 processor, which Lenovo says delivers up to 60% better performance than its predecessor. The tablet runs on Android 14, includes 8GB of RAM, and offers 256GB of storage, along with Wi-Fi 6E. Inside the device there's a 10,200mAh battery with support for 45W rapid charging. It features a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front-facing camera for photography and video calls. The Lenovo Idea Tab Pro is set to launch in April 2025 with a starting price of $349.99. Lenovo Tab The Lenovo Tab is designed for users seeking a bargain. It is compact and measures just 6.08 by 5.34 by 0.29 inches. Its 10.1-inch display delivers a resolution of 1,920 by 1,200 pixels, a 60Hz refresh rate, and a maximum brightness of 400 nits. Dual speakers tuned by Dolby Atmos handle audio, while a microSD/SIM slot and 3.5mm headphone jack allow users to expand storage or connect wired headphones. Powered by the MediaTek Helio G85 processor, the Lenovo Tab runs on Android 14 and comes with 4GB of RAM. Storage options include either 64GB or 128GB, which can be expanded via microSD for additional capacity. The tablet houses a 5,100mAh battery that charges at up to 15W. The Lenovo Tab features an 8MP rear camera and a 5MP front-facing camera for basic photography and video calls. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.3, which, while not cutting-edge, can be forgiven considering the price. The Tab launches in June 2025, starting at just $159.

Lenovo debuts enticing new Android tablets, SteamOS gaming handheld, more laptops
Lenovo is kicking off 2025 with the reveal of two surprisingly enticing new Android tablets which include a lot of AI and the company's first products with Circle to Search. Beyond that, there's also a new Lenovo gaming handheld powered by SteamOS and a lot of new laptops. Starting off with the company's new Android-powered products, Lenovo has announced the Yoga Tab Plus and the Idea Tab Pro. The Lenovo Yoga Tab Plus has a 12.7-inch 3K display with an anti-reflective finish, 900 nits of brightness, and a 144Hz refresh rate. It's powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 which helps to run Lenovo's "AI Now" suite of both cloud and on-device AI features. The tablet features support for a 2-in-1 keyboard and a the Lenovo Tab Pen Pro, and should prove to be a media powerhouse with Harman Kardon-tuned audio including speakers with 4 woofers and 2 tweeters. It also features a 10,200 mAh battery, 45W charging, 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, and runs Android 15 out of the box. Lenovo Yoga Tab Plus is set to launch later this month (January 2025) starting at $699. Meanwhile, the Idea Tab Pro offers a very similar package with the same display size, matte finish, and refresh rate, but minus the high brightness. It also features JBL speakers, Android 14 out of the box, 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, the same 10,200 mAh battery and 45W charging, and is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8400. Lenovo Idea Tab Pro will be available in April and is expected to start at $349. Finally, the "Lenovo Tab" is a 10.1-inch budget-focused tablet with Android 14 out of the box, 4GB of RAM and up to 128GB of storage, and a MediaTek Helio G85 powering the show behind the scenes. It starts at $159 and will be available starting in June. The company is also launching the 8.8-inch Lenovo Legion Tab, powered by Android, for $499. Moving on to Lenovo's new gaming lineup, the company is announcing three new gaming handhelds. The first is only a prototype. An 8.8-inch device with the same detachable controllers/joysticks from the first Legion Go, but with AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme and revamped hardware. There's no release date on this model yet, but Lenovo says it will come to market sometime in 2025, meaning we'll likely hear more about it later in the year. Coming to market before that is the Legion Go S, a new all-in-one handheld that comes in two flavors. Both powered by the AMD Ryzen Z2 Go, Lenovo will be launching the Legion Go S with either Windows or SteamOS. The former will launch for $729 this month with variants available from $599 starting in May. The SteamOS version, though, will start at $499 and use the same software as Valve's Steam Deck. This is the first gaming handheld licensing that platform, and it looks like a solid alternative with a bigger 8-inch display, 55.5WHr battery, and the stronger processor too. Lenovo Legion Go S with SteamOS launches in May 2025. Beyond these, Lenovo also has a ton of new laptops launching in 2025. Starting with the Yoga series, the Yoga Slim 9i (14'') has the world's first under-display camera in a laptop, leading to a 98% screen-to-body ratio for the $1,849 machine. Yoga Book 9i continues Lenovo's dual-screen laptop design starting at $1,999, while the Yoga Book 9i Aura Edition is Lenovo's latest Intel-powered Copilot+ PC starting at $1,599. The Yoga Slim 7i Aura Edition will also be launching at $1,099 and up. A highlight of the company's new lineup is also the IdeaCentre Mini x which is powered by Snapdragon X Plus, the world's first desktop for consumers powered by Qualcomm's chip. It will start at $659 and launch in April. Other highlights from Lenovo's 2025 laptop lineups include new Legion gaming laptops with Nvidia's latest RTX 5090 GPU, as well as new gaming monitors. Meanwhile, the "Think" series is bringing the debut of the world's first rollable laptop, with the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable which can convert from a 14-inch display to a 16.7-inch display by unrolling the display vertically. Lenovo is launching this laptop sometime in Q1 starting at $3,499.

Lenovo's latest Android tablet promises to be a gaming powerhouse
The company also unveiled the Lenovo Yoga Tab Plus (seen above) in case you want a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 tablet with a bigger screen. Expect a 12.7-inch LCD screen (2,944 x 1,840, 144Hz, 900 nits in high brightness mode) and a 10,200mAh battery with 45W wired charging. The rest of the spec sheet includes Android 15, a 13MP+2MP rear camera pairing, a 13MP front camera, Harmon-Kardon speakers, and Wi-Fi 7. Lenovo also says this is its first on-device AI tablet, specifically pointing to the Lenovo AI Now feature. The company frames this as a personal knowledge base that lets you search for and retrieve images and documents on your device. Unfortunately, the tablet's AI note-writing assistant and AI Transcript feature both require the cloud, which is a real shame in light of the "on-device AI tablet" designation. The fact that the latter feature is restricted to the cloud is particularly disappointing as Google's Recorder app for Pixel phones has offered audio transcriptions for years now.
