Copilot+ PCs first launched back in June, and ever since then we've been seeing more and more computers with Copilot+ badges. But Microsoft isn't just pushing Copilot+ PCs -- there's also the Copilot AI chatbot. The Verge reports that Microsoft will hold a digital presentation via LinkedIn on September 16, where company CEO Satya Nadella and AI director Jared Spataro will present the "next phase of Copilot." It's unclear exactly what Microsoft's upcoming AI news will entail, but judging by the presentation's name ("Microsoft 365 Copilot: Wave 2"), it'll likely have something to do with the company's collection of office software and services. We'll know more come Monday, September 16 at 17:00 CET (or 11am ET). And if Microsoft will be talking about office suites, it might also be when they reveal just how much the one-off Office 2024 will be.

According to Microsoft, it's time for the "next phase of Copilot innovation." On September 16, the company is live streaming an event called Microsoft 365 Copilot: Wave 2. Microsoft's CEO Satya Nadella and corporate vice president of AI at work, Jared Spataro, will host the event on LinkedIn (It is "your AI assistant for work," so it's a fitting platform). The stream starts at 8 AM PT/11 AM ET and is available here. Spataro first announced Microsoft 365 Copilot in early 2023 to create responses, draft presentations, and break down data -- to name a few of its uses. In the year and a half since, CoPilot has folded in Microsoft's chatbot Bing and expanded to serve entire teams, generate images, and reference multiple documents when it writes. It currently costs $360 annually per user.

Microsoft's event won't be all about the rebranding though, I'm expecting to see a bunch of new Copilot features for Microsoft 365 that will try and tempt more businesses to sign up to the $30 per user per month pricing. Microsoft unlocked its Copilot AI features inside Office apps and more earlier this year, but there's still a debate among businesses over whether it's worth the steep monthly price. We may even see more features announced for Copilot Pro, Microsoft's consumer subscription for its AI offerings. The $20 monthly subscription provides Copilot features in Word, much like the business-focused subscription, but it hasn't seen many new features added since it launched earlier this year. Microsoft even removed a GPT Builder feature from Copilot Pro in June.
