Norton Introduces AI-Powered Scam Protection

Norton, a leader in Cyber Safety and part of Genâ„¢ (NASDAQ: GEN), has announced the launch of enhanced AI-powered scam protection features across its Cyber Safety product lineup. This move comes as a response to the alarming increase in cyberthreats, with the company reporting that 90% of all cyberthreats now originate from scams and social engineering - a figure that has nearly tripled since 2021 13.

Genie Scam Protection and Genie Scam Protection Pro

The newly introduced features, Genie Scam Protection and Genie Scam Protection Pro, provide advanced AI protection against scams in texts, phone calls, emails, and web browsing. These tools are now included at no extra cost in Norton's Cyber Safety products on desktop and mobile, including Norton AntiVirus Plus, Norton Mobile Security, and Norton 360 plans 23.

AI-Powered Analysis

Norton's Genie AI goes beyond traditional link analysis by examining the meaning of words to detect hidden scam patterns that might elude even the most vigilant users. This sophisticated approach aims to provide a more comprehensive defense against increasingly believable scams 12.

Availability and Global Rollout

The new features are currently available in the US, with plans to extend to other regions soon. Norton Cyber Safety plans in the UK, Australia, and New Zealand will also receive the Genie Scam Protection bundle 34.

Additional Features for Premium Users

Norton 360 with LifeLock Ultimate Plus, the company's most comprehensive plan, offers additional benefits such as Scam support and Reimbursement coverage for US customers, providing an extra layer of protection and peace of mind 13.

The Growing Threat of AI-Powered Scams

Leena Elias, Chief Product Officer at Gen, emphasized the evolving nature of scams: "Today's scams are not the scams you could spot a mile away with the naked eye. Scammers are tapping into AI to speed up their schemes and make them more believable." 23

Future Innovations

Norton has previewed upcoming innovations at the Consumer Electronics Show, including the integration of deepfake and scam detection into AI-supported PCs for faster protection 34.

Industry Recognition

Norton's products and services are certified by independent testing organizations such as AV-TEST, AV-Comparatives, and SE Labs. The company is also a founding member of the Coalition Against Stalkerware 4.

As cyber threats continue to evolve, Norton's integration of AI into its security solutions represents a significant step in the ongoing battle against online scams and fraud. The company's proactive approach to cybersecurity underscores the growing importance of AI in protecting users' digital lives and financial well-being.
