OpenAI launches ChatGPT Go in Indonesia
OpenAI has launched its affordable ChatGPT Go subscription plan in Indonesia for Rp75,000 (about $4.50) per month. This expansion follows the plan's initial rollout in India, signaling the company's effort to broaden its user base with more accessible pricing. The ChatGPT Go plan is a mid-tier option positioned between the free version and the premium $20-per-month ChatGPT Plus. Subscribers receive 10 times higher usage limits for prompts, image generation, and file uploads compared to the free tier. According to ChatGPT head Nick Turley, the plan also features improved memory of previous conversations to provide more personalized responses. The introduction of a lower-cost plan has proven effective, with OpenAI's paid subscriber base in India more than doubling since the launch. While both are paid subscriptions, ChatGPT Go and ChatGPT Plus are designed for different user needs. This plan is for regular users who need more capabilities than the free version without the full suite of advanced tools. This premium plan is intended for professionals and advanced users who require the most powerful features. OpenAI's expansion into Indonesia creates direct competition with Google, which recently launched its similarly priced AI Plus subscription in the country. Google's AI Plus plan provides users with access to its Gemini 2.5 Pro model, creative tools for image and video like Flow, Whisk, and Veo 3 Fast, and AI integration into Workspace apps such as Gmail and Docs. The subscription also includes enhanced features for the NotebookLM research assistant and 200GB of cloud storage.

OpenAI launches low-cost ChatGPT tier in Indonesia after India success By Investing.com
Investing.com-- OpenAI said on Tuesday it launched its low-cost ChatGPT Go tier in Indonesia, just a month after the tier's successful pilot in India. OpenAI will charge 75,000 rupiah ($4.5) per month for the service, which offers 10 times more messaging limits, image generations, and double memory over its free plan. ChatGPT Go's Indonesia launch comes just a month after the tier was first released in Indian markets. OpenAI Vice President and ChatGPT head Nick Turley said in an X post that the startup's Indian subscribers had more than doubled since Go's launch in August. OpenAI's low-cost ChatGPT pro tier is largely aimed at capturing more users in cost-conscious but highly populated emerging markets. The tier's launch in India saw the country become OpenAI's biggest userbase, with recent reports stating that India accounts for roughly 13.5% of global monthly active ChatGPT users. The U.S. is the company's second-largest user base. Turley said on Tuesday that Indonesia is already one of ChatGPT's "top five markets by weekly active users." OpenAI is aiming to shore up its user base while releasing more advanced models, amid rapidly increasing competition in the AI sector. The company on Monday received a $100 billion investment commitment from major AI chipmaker NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA), who will now join Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) and SoftBank Group Corp. (TYO:9984) as the biggest backers of the AI startup.
