Samsung's new classroom display runs on Android 15 with Circle to Search, kind of
Samsung is heavily invested in AI, and that extends to the classroom with a new interactive display that runs on Android 15 with some of the same AI features found on Samsung's Galaxy phones. In One UI 7 on Samsung's Galaxy phones, we're used to a good few AI features that find themselves on other Android 15 devices. Circle to Search is the big one developed by Google and debuted on Samsung's devices. The tool is essentially a smart screenshot feature that lets you search for anything within your screen. As simple as it may seem, it's been a great addition to Android. Other features like AI Summary are in the works; Samsung plans on utilizing a proprietary AI Summary tool that will use LLM models to bring together concise summaries of important info. Today, Samsung announced a new AI-powered interactive display that would utilize some of these same tools. The model goes by the name WAFX-P. Samsung's classroom display houses a panel capable of reading touch through a stylus's much more hands-on. The model is meant for the classroom, and Samsung seems to have morphed some of its Galaxy features into educational ones. The display comes with Circle to Search, though it's not the one we're familiar with. This is a Samsung variant specifically meant to search the display within trusted sources and deliver appropriate information to students. Students can circle images and text to learn more about the subjects within. It's worth noting that the Google version of Circle to Search, which is found on most modern Android devices, has a different UI. For some reason, it runs by the same name on this display. Samsung also incorporated a version of AI Summary that will create lesson recaps for students in the classroom. Samsung notes that the feature will make lesson planning easier and will help with post-class reviews. The company also added Live Transcript to the display, which will take notes of what's spoken. This isn't the first instance of Samsung adding One UI features to TVs. The company has already announced consumer TVs with the same sort of additions through One UI. Samsung notes that the WAXF-P classroom display comes in 56-inch, 75-inch, and 86-inch models. Internally, it houses an NPU with 16GB of RAM. The frame houses a 4K camera, as well. All of that runs on Android 15. Samsung does not state a timeframe for sale or price point.
