Samsung's $650 Galaxy S25 FE Gets Fast 45W Charging, Thinner Design
Samsung's new $650 Galaxy S25 FE is getting some of my favorite features seen on the more-expensive $1,000 Galaxy S25 Plus, with a number of hardware tweaks that bring down the price. Samsung revealed the phone as part of its Thursday morning Galaxy Unpacked livestream, which also features new Galaxy Tab S11 tablets. The Galaxy S25 FE launches with the company's One UI 8 overlay for Android 16, which we first saw on Samsung's new Z Fold and Z Flip phones last summer. One UI 8 has a refined design and AI features like Now brief for summarizing what's coming up for your day. But what I'm particularly excited about are the S25 FE's bigger battery and faster charging speeds compared to the prior models. The S25 FE will get 45-watt wired charging, which matches the Galaxy S25 Plus, and will power a 4,900-mAh battery. Samsung claims this will charge from 0% to 65% in 30 minutes, as long as you use it with a wall charger that supports that speed. The S25 FE also supports 15-watt wireless charging, and Samsung describes the phone as "Qi2 Ready" -- which means that the phone doesn't have Qi2 magnets for accessories, but you can get a case that has the magnets to use them with wireless chargers or wallets. This is something I hope we see change with next year's Galaxy S26 phones, especially now that magnets are included in Google's Pixel 10 line, but this does mirror the Galaxy S25 line. The S25 FE is a smidge thinner and lighter than last year's S24 FE, but it does otherwise look quite similar to last year's phone. The S25 FE uses Samsung's Exynos 2400 processor, which is the same as what's in the $900 Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE that I recently reviewed. It likely won't be as powerful as the Qualcomm chip in the more expensive Galaxy S25, but it should be powerful enough to handle lowlight photography, Galaxy AI features and most apps and games. It has a similar camera system to last year's phone as well, with a 50-megapixel wide lens, 12-megapixel ultrawide and an 8-megapixel telephoto lens that supports a 3x optical zoom. Its selfie camera is also 12 megapixels. The phone has a 6.7-inch AMOLED display, the same as last year's FE, with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1,900 nits of brightness. It comes in four colors: navy, icy blue, jet black and white. We'll have to test out the phone, but the FE mirrors a lot of what we see on the Galaxy S25 Plus. Similar body, display, battery, charging speed and software, but in exchange are a series of small stepdowns in terms of specs. If you just want a Galaxy phone with all the new features and don't care about the fastest processor or highest-end camera, the FE might be the right fit. But we are still in a deluge of new phone announcements this fall, especially if you aren't Samsung or Android loyal while shopping in this price range. For instance, Apple will be hosting its next device event on Tuesday, where it will likely debut the iPhone 17 line. Historically, when Apple releases a new iPhone line, earlier devices like the iPhone 16 and 15 models stay on sale with a price cut. The $499 Google Pixel 9A, $550 Motorola Edge and $600 OnePlus 13R are also tempting Android options offering an entry-level flagship phone experience. And if you're looking for the latest and greatest from Samsung, a Galaxy S26 is probably just a few months away.

I Tried the $650 Galaxy S25 FE and Its Thinner Design With Faster Charging Stand Out

During my brief demo with the new phone, I was able to put it next to my Galaxy S24 FE review unit and it was quite obvious that the new phone has a slimmer shape along with a matte back that's less likely to pick up fingerprints. The S25 FE uses Samsung's Exynos 2400 processor, which is the same as what's in the $900 Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE that I recently reviewed. I tried the Samsung Galaxy S25 FE, and it got big upgrades in several ways
With holiday sale season on the horizon, you can expect discounts on the flagship phones soon, making the price difference less enticing. As phones continue to get flashier features, more unique factors, powerful cameras, and more advanced processors capable of supporting the increasing need for on-device AI processing, prices also continuously become steeper. Luckily, for consumers who just want the essentials, budget phones exist, and Samsung just unveiled its newest lineup: the Samsung Galaxy S25 FE. Also: The best Samsung phones to buy in 2025 At a glance, the S25 FE is almost indistinguishable from its flagship counterparts. It sports the same signature Galaxy aesthetic with a rectangular shape, rounded edges, a three-camera array on the back, and clean matte finishes. However, after holding it, the differences that make the $150 price gap a thing became apparent. After spending a morning with the S25 FE, here is a roundup of the new phone's biggest standouts and what you could expect if you make the switch. 1. Enhanced Galaxy AI features At the January Unpacked event, Samsung launched its flagship S25 device lineup, and one of its biggest standouts was the plethora of AI features. Now, all of those same productivity and communication features are available in the FE version too, enabling you to experience the suite without shelling out the extra cash. "Galaxy S25 FE plays an important role as a gateway into the broader Galaxy AI ecosystem, making these AI-powered experiences more attainable for a broader range of users," said Jay Kim, EVP and Head of Customer Experience Office, Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics in the release. Also: The secrets that made Pixel 10 Pro the world's smartest phone camera - from inside Google As expected, many of the AI features benefit the camera and photo experience of the phone. In addition to Photo Assist, already available on last year's S24 FE, the new model features a Generative Edit feature, which detects photobombers in the background of your photos and suggests what to remove. Audio eraser allows you to adjust the volume of various sound elements in your videos, such as voices, wind, noises, and more. Meanwhile, the Auto Trim feature automatically slices your video to highlight the best moments. The core of the new features is geared toward more personalized experiences in an attempt to market the offerings as a "true AI companion." For example, users can now access their Now Brief, which gives them insights that summarize and anticipate their daily needs, such as surfacing navigation suggestions or schedule reminders. The Now Bar on the lock screen also surfaces other tools and relevant information. Purchasing the S25 FE comes with six months of free access to Gemini Advanced, Google's premium AI plan, which retails for $20 per month. The plan's perks include Gemini in Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides, Deep Research, Canvas, and more. The S25 FE got improved specs where it matters to deliver the most optimal performance. This starts with the inclusion of the Samsung in-house Exynos 2400 chipset, a step up from the S24 FE's Exynos 2400e. While the two chipsets sound nearly identical, the faster CPU clock speed of the S25 FE should, in theory, offer a performance boost. Of course, the Exynos chip won't compete with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite found on the pricier S25 models -- that's a sacrifice you'll be making by opting for the FE. On a more positive note, the S25 FE features a larger 4,900mAh battery this year. This, paired with the 45W wired charging, should provide better endurance overall. We'll have to see for ourselves during the review. The selfie camera has also been upgraded to a 12MP sensor that Samsung says should yield crisper and more vivid pictures. While that is the only camera upgrade on this year's FE model, the three-camera array on the back of the phone still consists of a versatile 12MP ultra-wide, 50MP wide, and 8MP telephoto. Paired with the AI features above, you can expect an improved photo-taking experience. Recently, there has been an influx of lighter and slimmer phone designs, as seen by the S25 Edge, and the S25 FE is the latest to join the trend. While it's not to the same degree of slimmness as the Edge model, a Samsung spokesperson tells me that the company took the Edge concept and carried it to the S25 FE. Also: I've tested every single Galaxy S25 phone - and my favorite isn't the flagship model Weighing just 190g, the S25 FE is not only lighter than its predecessor, which weighed 213g, but also 0.6mm slimmer. The dimensions are fairly similar to the Galaxy S25 Plus, so if you like the look and feel of that device, you will enjoy this one. Despite the compactness, the display was not compromised. It still sports a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, the same size as that of the Galaxy S25 Plus, with up to a 120Hz refresh rate for a smooth browsing experience. Even in my limited time with the phone, the picture was not something to scoff at, with rich contrasts and vibrant colors, as seen in the Star Trek app visuals below. The Samsung Galaxy S25 FE retails for $649 and can be purchased today from the Samsung website. It is available in Navy, Jetblack, White, and Icyblue. From my short time with the devices, Samsung seems to have delivered a solid phone with all the essentials, ideal for someone who isn't a power user and doesn't need the additional specs and performance boost that comes with pricier flagships. While you consider making the purchase, it is worth noting that the holiday season is on the horizon, which means sales galore. It is very likely that the flagship Galaxy S25 lineup becomes discounted, closing the gap between those models and the S25 FE. However, this isn't guaranteed and will require some patience, so if you just want a phone without all the bells and whistles, the S25 FE may be a more sensible pickup today.

Samsung's New Galaxy S25 FE Is the Most Affordable Way to Get Galaxy AI
Left to right: Samsung Galaxy S25 FE in Jetblack, Navy, White, and Icyblue (Credit: Iyaz Akhtar) Don't miss out on our latest stories. Add PCMag as a preferred source on Google. The Galaxy S25 FE (Fan Edition) aims to bring the best of Samsung's Galaxy S25 line to a more affordable package. Announced today and starting at $649.99, the S25 FE shares a common design language and many features with the Galaxy S25 ($799.99) and S25+ ($999.99). We spent some time with Samsung's latest Android phone ahead of today's announcement. Here's everything you need to know, as well as our first impression. An Aluminum and Glass Rectangle With a Big Screen The new FE is smaller and more than 10% lighter than last year's Galaxy S24 FE. It measures 6.35 by 3.02 by 0.29 inches (HWD) and weighs 6.70 ounces, compared with the S24 FE's 6.38 by 3.04 by 0.31 inches and 7.51 ounces. Samsung uses Armor Aluminum for the frame with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protecting both the front and back. In my time with pre-production models, there was a slight lip where the matte back panel meets the frame that I didn't care for. Three cameras are lined up near the top of the phone's rear panel, while the front-facing camera is centered at the top of the screen. The front glass hides an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor on the screen. A volume rocker and power button are on the right side; both have good travel. The FE's down-firing speaker, USB-C port, and SIM tray are on the bottom. Like the rest of the Galaxy S25 line, the S25 FE is IP68-rated and protected from dust and water. In hand, the Galaxy S25 FE felt light for its size and well-constructed overall. If you look closely at the screen's bezels, you'll see that the bottom bezel is thicker than the rest. The color options are Icyblue, Jetblack, Navy, and White. The phone has a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2x screen, with a resolution of 2,340 by 1,080 pixels, a variable refresh rate of 60Hz to 120Hz, and a peak brightness of 1,900 nits. These are the same specs as the Galaxy S24 FE. In my limited time with the device, the screen was easy to see indoors, but it got washed out in direct sunlight. Specs and Inner Things Since the S25 FE is meant to be an affordable device, Samsung dialed back the specs from the flagship S25 line. Like the last two generations of Galaxy S FE, it has just 8GB of RAM. If you want more RAM, you'll have to step up to the standard Galaxy S25 with its 12GB of RAM. The S25 FE is available with either 128GB ($649.99) or 256GB ($709.99) of storage. Samsung's Exynos 2400 powers the FE, which is the same chip in international versions of the 2024-era Galaxy S24 and S24+. Traditionally, Exynos chips have been outperformed by Qualcomm's latest, so we don't expect the S25 FE to keep up with the S25 series, which has Qualcomm's top Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. However, we will benchmark the device once we get it in for review to be sure. According to Samsung, the FE 25 contains a 4,900mAh battery capable of reaching a 65% charge in 30 minutes with a 45W adapter. The phone supports wireless and reverse wireless charging. For comparison, last year's model packed a smaller 4,700mAh battery capable of up to 25W wired charging, with wireless and reverse wireless charging also on board. For connectivity, the phone supports 5G (sub-6GHz only, but not C-band or mmWave), Bluetooth 5.4, and Wi-Fi 6E. The limited 5G support could mean slower wireless speeds than the other S25 models and the S24 FE, which support all three 5G varieties. The S25 FE incorporates one physical SIM card and one eSIM. The Galaxy S25 FE's rear cameras are unchanged from the S24 FE. That's a 50MP main camera with an f/1.8 aperture, a 12MP ultra-wide camera at f/2.2, and an 8MP telephoto camera with an f/2.4 aperture and 3x optical zoom. The S24 FE's picture quality is the device's weak spot, so if the S25 FE is to improve images, it will have to do it through image processing. Samsung upgraded the front-facing camera, though. The S25 FE gets a 12MP selfie camera at an aperture of f/2.2, an upgrade over the S24 FE's 10MP selfie cam. Video capture tops out at 4K60. Software and Availability: Galaxy AI Is Ready to Go The Galaxy S25 FE ships with Android 16 and will receive seven years of OS updates and security fixes, which is a long time for a semi-budget device. The S25 FE also brings along Galaxy AI, Samsung's suite of AI tools, which includes Call Assist (for real-time translations of voice calls) and Writing Assist. We plan to fully assess how the new FE handles these tasks and more with less RAM and a different processor than the rest of the lineup. The Galaxy S25 FE series is available starting today, Sept. 4. We plan to publish a full review in the weeks ahead, so check back soon.

Samsung launches the Galaxy S25 FE at IFA 2025
Samsung just launched the Galaxy S25 FE smartphone at IFA. It's available right now, starting at $650. The handset is available in four colorways. This is a midrange member of the Galaxy S25 family, after the company back in January and the ultra-thin . The base-level S25 , so this is a slightly cheaper way to get in on all of that Galaxy action. This phone actually ships with the company's One UI 8 operating system. The other S25 models shipped with One UI 7, but have since begun receiving software updates to bring them up to speed. This introduces a refreshed user interface with new icons and better animations, more AI integration and improved split-screen performance. It features an Exynos 2400 CPU, which should get the job done but won't be quite as snappy as the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite that ships with the rest of the lineup. There's a 6.7-inch AMOLED screen with up to 1,900 nits of peak brightness. The camera system is decent, with a 50MP main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide lens and an 8MP telephoto lens. There's also a 12MP front-facing camera. Despite being a bit underpowered when compared to the rest of the lineup, the S25 FE still accommodates all of those fancy Galaxy AI bells and whistles. This includes the company's Generative Edit photo software, an on-device assistant and more. So this is a relatively affordable entryway into that world.

Samsung Galaxy S25 FE announced: Specs, price and all the new features
There's more than one way to get your hands on Galaxy AI. While Samsung's suite of AI tools are a critical feature on the company's Galaxy S and Galaxy Z premium devices, those same features are also available through the FE version of Samsung's flagship phone. And the newly unveiled Galaxy S25 FE takes many of the top features of the best Samsung phones and puts them in a more affordable package. There are some trade-offs to be made for that lower cost phone, of course. But if you found the Galaxy AI features debuting on this year's Galaxy S25 models to be compelling, the Galaxy S25 FE lets you experience those same capabilities without taking as big a bite out of your wallet. And that's all according to plan, Samsung says, as the company looks to "democratize mobile AI." Last year, Samsung said that Galaxy AI was available on 200 million devices, and it's looking to double that by the end of 2025. The Galaxy S25 FE should play a big part in helping Samsung extend its AI reach -- if consumers don't mind sacrificing some of the more premium aspects of Galaxy flagships. Here's what you need to know about the Galaxy S25 FE and how it compares to its pricier siblings in Samsung's flagship lineup. Like last year's Galaxy S24 FE, the Galaxy S25 FE arrives with a $649 / £649 starting price. That gets you a device with 8GB of memory and 128GB of storage. There's also a model with 256GB of storage; we'll update this report with the price on that model once we have it. That price means you can buy a Galaxy S25 FE and get many of the same features found on the Galaxy S25 while spending $150 less on your new phone. The recently released Pixel 10 also starts at $799, making Samsung's latest phones competitively priced compared to other Android flagships. The same can't be said, though, when you consider the Galaxy S25 FE's cost compared to midrange phones like the $599 iPhone 16e and $499 Pixel 9a. Like Samsung's new device, the iPhone offers the same AI capabilities as its flagship siblings in a lower-cost package, while the Pixel 9a features most, though not all, of the AI features found on Google's Pixel 9 phones. You can buy the Galaxy S25 FE starting today (September 4). The phone is available in White, Navy, Jetblack and Icyblue. Looking at the Galaxy S25 FE, you might not notice any difference from the design of the Galaxy S25. In fact, the FE features the same Armor Aluminum materials found on the standard S25. Samsung has turned to Gorilla Glass Victus+ to protect the FE from scratches and scuffs, and that's not as durable as the Victus 2 glass featured on the S25. But that's a trade-off few people would notice. Like the Galaxy S25, the Galaxy S25 FE offers IP68 water and dust resistance, so you can drop the phone in up to 1.5 meters of water for up to 30 minutes without causing damage. Samsung has slimmed down the Galaxy S25 FE from last year's model. The new phone also weighs less than the S24 FE. Where the Galaxy S25 FE departs from the standard S25 is screen size -- you get a 6.7-inch AMOLED panel, which matches the screen on last year's Galaxy S24 FE, right down to the FHD+ resolution. The Galaxy S25 FE's refresh rate can alternate between 60Hz and 120Hz. That's not as fluid as the adaptive refresh rate on the S25, but it still means smoother scrolling when you enable the feature on the FE. The S25's display features a peak brightness of 1,900 nits, matching the specs of the Galaxy S24 FE. If you want a brighter display, you'll want to turn to the standard Galaxy S25, as that boasts a peak brightness of 2,600 nits. Galaxy AI figures to be the S25 FE's calling card. Combine AI capabilities with the device's lower price, and the appeal of this phone lies in the fact that it promises the same AI experience as the rest of the Galaxy S25 lineup. That includes features like Now Brief, which gives you a summary of the day ahead and tailors its updates to your preferences and interests over time. The Now Bar -- Samsung's take on Live Activities -- appears on the Galaxy S25 FE as well. You can also expect the enhanced multimodal capabilities and context-aware AI typical of other Samsung flagships. Point your Galaxy S25 FE camera at something, for example, and the on-board Gemini assistant will be able to see what you're seeing and offer information and recommendations based on that view. That's handy for everything from getting ideas on what to whip up from the ingredients in your fridge to identifying particular parts on how-to projects. Speaking of the camera, Galaxy AI tools include a host of editing features like converting videos you've captured to slow-motion clips or using generative editing tools to move or resize objects. Samsung says it's improved the ability to detect shadows and analyze backgrounds when you edit photos for more realistic-looking results. Audio eraser, a tool for removing distracting background noise from video clips, is available, too, and you can use it in apps ranging from Gallery to Recorder. The enhanced AI editing features on the Galaxy S25 FE are important since Samsung has done very little to change the rear camera hardware from the Galaxy S24 FE. Like that phone, the S25 FE features a 50MP main lens accompanied by 12MP ultrawide and 8MP telephoto shooters. That latter lens supports a 3x optical zoom. I don't want to downplay the presence of a dedicated telephoto camera on the Galaxy S25 FE, as that's a feature usually limited to more expensive camera phones. Other than the Nothing Phone 3a and 3a Pro, the Galaxy S25 FE is one of the least expensive ways to get your hands on a phone with its own zoom lens. And it would be unfair to say Samsung hasn't made any changes to the camera setup on this year's FE. The Galaxy S25 FE offers a 12MP selfie cam, which Samsung says boosts the resolution by 20% from the front camera on the S24 FE. What's more, the Galaxy S25 FE also benefits from an upgraded Pro Visual Engine to process images captured by the phone. That should translate to better portraits with more accurate skin tones and textures, plus less noise in low-light shots. Easily, the biggest compromise you'll make with the Galaxy S25 FE involves the chipset that powers the phone. Samsung has turned to one of its own chips, the Exynos 2400. That's an older system-on-chip that's since been surpassed by the Exynos 2500 featured in the Galaxy Z Flip 7 released this summer. In other words, you're unlikely to see comparable performance between the Galaxy S25 FE and the Snapdragon 8 Elite-powered Galaxy S25. Samsung's new phone should also lag behind the iPhone 16e, which features an A18 chipset similar to the one in Apple's flagship phones. That said, the Galaxy S25 FE should be a step up from the S24 FE and its Exynos 2400e system-on-chip, which offers a lower peak CPU speed compared to the Exynos 2400. Battery size increases to 4,900 mAh in the Galaxy S25 FE, up from 4,700 mAh in its predecessor. That's good since the Galaxy S24 FE's 11-hour and 24-minute time on our battery test falls well short of what Samsung's flagship phones can do. The Galaxy S25, with a smaller battery but a more power-efficient chip, held out for nearly 4.5 hours longer than the S24 FE. We'll see if the S25 FE can close that gap. The Galaxy S25 FE supports 45W wired charging, which Samsung says will deliver a 65% charge after half-an-hour. Wireless charging comes at 15W, and while the S25 FE is compatible with Qi2 wireless charging, it lacks the magnets that allow for a more secure fit on wireless charging pads. That's a limitation handed down from the rest of the S25 lineup. Given the Galaxy S25 FE's support for the latest Galaxy AI features, it's no surprise that the phone ships with Samsung's One UI 8 interface based on Android 16. Like its predecessor -- and like the other S25 models -- the Galaxy S25 FE gets seven years of software and security updates. When my colleague John Velasco reviewed the Galaxy S24 FE a year ago, he made the argument that Samsung's stripped-back phone was a more compelling option than the standard Galaxy S24, given the lower price and extensive AI support. The Galaxy S25 FE hopes to make a similar argument by keeping up with latest in Galaxy AI. We'll find out how the new phone fares once we get a chance to test and review the Galaxy S25 FE.

Galaxy S25 FE makes an impressive debut -- and it could wind up as the best Samsung phone for most people
Here's why this lower-cost phone is more appealing than you might think Take a look at the best Samsung phones, and you'll find a lot of Galaxy S25 models topping the list. That's no coincident -- Samsung's latest phones boast excellent cameras, long-lasting batteries and some pretty polished AI features that help them stand out from the Android crowd. By that same token, the Galaxy S25 FE, unveiled this week by Samsung and now on sale, offers some compelling features in its own right. And by doing so, you could make the case that you'll never have to pay full price for a Samsung device again in order to enjoy the phone maker's most compelling premium features. Again, that's no knock on the current Samsung flagships, which include the standard model as well as the slightly larger Galaxy S25 Plus, the much thinner Galaxy S25 Edge and the extremely premium Galaxy S25 Ultra. It's just a reflection of the fact that the Galaxy S25 FE promises much of what you need from a phone without racking up a huge price tag. Technically, the Galaxy S25 FE is part of the Galaxy S family, though I'd hesitate to call it a flagship. Unlike the other S25 models, you don't get the powerhouse Snapdragon 8 Elite silicon inside the Galaxy S25 FE. Instead, you get an Exynos system-on-chip, and an older one at that. The Exynos 2400 powering Samsung's new phone arrived at the start of 2024, which is one of the trade-offs you make to save $150 off the starting price of the standard Galaxy S25. Tom's Guide hasn't run benchmarks on the Galaxy S25 FE yet, but I'd be very surprised if it doesn't noticeably lag behind the CPU and GPU performance turned in by other S25 models. Then again, unless you're running processing-intensive apps on your phone, you could argue that's a difference the average user isn't going to noice or care about -- not when their wallet is at least $150 fuller. Instead, with the Galaxy S25 FE. Samsung puts the effort in where it counts. The phone offers three rear cameras, including a dedicated telephoto lens. That's a feature missing from top midrange models like the Pixel 9a and iPhone 16e. And while Google's photo processing chops makes the Pixel 9a the model to beat when it comes to the best camera phones for $500 or less, you're going to get a lot more versatility with the S25 FE's extra rear lens. It's not just the lower price tag and flagship-quality camera setup that makes the Galaxy S25 FE a worthy alternative to Samsung's higher-profile phones, though. It's Samsung's decision to make sure that most of the Galaxy AI features you can get on a premium model are also available on this lower-cost handset. When my Tom's Guide colleagues and I tested out devices for our AI phone face-off, we agreed that Google's Pixel devices set the standard, but the Galaxy S25 models didn't linger too far behind. And that's good news for the Galaxy S25 FE because a lot of the features that impressed us when we put AI capabilities through their paces this summer are in evidence on this new phone. The Galaxy S25 FE boasts writing tools and photo-editing/image generation features on par with what the other S25 models offer. There's a browsing assist feature that summarizes the content on web pages or provides needed translations, and, as you'd expect, Circle to Search capabilities are very present here. But I think the big AI additions to the Galaxy S25 FE include Gemini Live, which brings multimodal capabilities to the on-device assistant. Point the S25 FE's camera at something, and the assistant can tell you what you need to know, whether it's identifying parts in a how-to project or figuring out washing instructions from laundry tags. Additionally, the Now Brief feature that debuted on the Galaxy S25 this year comes to the S25 FE, so you'll get a daily summary of appointments and vital information that adapts to your preferences and activities. It's unclear if every Galaxy AI feature on board the other S25 models made the grade for the Galaxy S25 FE. There's no mention of my favorite addition from earlier this year -- cross-app actions that let you tap into the on-board assistant to perform multiple tasks in different apps with one command. (Think adding a dinner reservation to your calendar and texting that info to a friend, all in one go.) Samsung doesn't tout that capability in its S25 FE promotional materials, and if it were there, I'd imagine the phone maker would be shouting it from the mountaintops. Still, that's something we'll find out once Tom's Guide gets a chance to fully review the phone. In his hands-on with the Galaxy S25 FE, my colleague John Velasco makes the case that the latest phone Samsung is the perfect counterpoint to the Galaxy S25 Plus. It's got the triple-camera setup, the AI features and the big screen, but at $649, it's $350 less than the $999 Plus. That sounds about right to me. People will always gravitate toward more premium phones. But for some people, a lower price is a key piece of the smartphone puzzle. If the Galaxy S25 FE can truly provide a comparable experience in terms of photos and AI -- and that's what we'll be looking for when we review the phone -- it should be among the first devices you consider when shopping for a Samsung handset.

Samsung Galaxy S25 FE hands on: this 'affordable' flagship has a lot to offer
A slimmer, lighter design, larger screen-to-body ratio, and the biggest FE battery ever IFA Berlin This story is part of our coverage of IFA Berlin 2025 Updated less than 2 minutes ago I'm told the Samsung Galaxy S25 FE is "the gateway to the latest and most powerful Galaxy AI experiences" during my briefing for the firm's latest 'affordable' flagship phone. Samsung's FE series has been running for over five years now, providing a more attainable entry point to the firm's latest technology. Recommended Videos And with the Galaxy S25 FE, Samsung's made some eye-catching upgrades from last year's variant, with a slimmer, lighter phone which boasts a larger screen-to-body ratio and the biggest battery ever for a FE device. The Galaxy S25 FE price starts at £649 for 128GB, rising to £699 (256GB) and £799 (512GB) in the UK (US $ pricing TBC), and it's available to order from launch, September 4 2025. That's comparable with to another paired-down flagship, the iPhone 16e. Galaxy S25 FE specs Galaxy S25 FE design and display The Galaxy S25 FE succeeds 2024's Galaxy S24 FE, and Samsung has made a couple of noticeable design improvements with it's latest handset. It's managed to slim down the thickness and reduced it's weight, while somehow also increasing battery capacity. I'm not sure what voodoo has been untaken to achieve this, but it's impressive. The result is the Galaxy S25 FE is just 7.4mm thick (8% thinner vs S24 FE, 8mm), while it tops the scales at 190g (11% lighter vs S24 FE, 213g). Picking up the phone it does feel light in the hand, but it avoids feeling 'cheap'. Plus, the FE gets the same Enhanced Armor Aluminum frame as Galaxy S25 and S25+, and there's Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ on the front and back. The aesthetic improvements continue when you turn attention to the 6.7-inch AMOLED display. Samsung has slimmed down the bezels, while making them more uniform, providing you with an improved screen-to-body ratio. This gives the phone a more premium appearance, keeping it closer to it's pricier S25 sibling. While resolution (FHD+) and peak brightness (1900 nits) aren't as high as the rest of the S25 series, you do still get a 120 refresh rate. Yet for scrolling social, snapping pics and watching the odd video, the screen is colorful and smooth in operation. The only letdown I noticed during my hands-on time with the phone were the color options: Navy, Icy blue, Jet black, White. Samsung has opted for these muted tones to carry over the premium look from the S25 range, but I'd like to see at least one bold, playful color option - like the Mint and Yellow options we got with the S24 FE. Galaxy S25 FE cameras The Samsung Galaxy FE comes with triple rear camera setup, featuring a 12MP ultra-wide, 50MP wide angle, and 8MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. The 12MP front snapper has been upgraded, getting a 20% boost in resolution over the S24 FE, for what Samsung claims will result in clearer, richer selfies. The busy hands-on space I had to experience the phone wasn't particularly photogenic, nor was it lit in an overly useful way - making it difficult to judge the camera quality. Look out for our full Galaxy S25 FE review in the coming weeks where we'll put all four cameras to the test. This phone benefits from photography AI features taken from the S25 series, including Instant Slow-Mo (one-touch, super-smooth slow motion - no need to enable a mode), Generative Edit (for effortless photo editing), and Audio Eraser (to remove distracting sounds from video for clear audio). Galaxy S25 FE power and battery Compromises are always going to be made with these 'affordable' flagship variants, so it's no surprise the Galaxy S25 FE doesn't pack top-tier power. The Samsung-made Exynos 2800 chipset is paired with 8GB of RAM, which should be serviceable enough to run OneUI 8 - but it won't be setting any speed records. Plus, if you shop around you can pick up more powerful Android handsets for similar money - the OnePlus 13R is one example. On the plus side, Samsung offers a trio of storage options with 128GB, 256GB and 512GB. One of the major new features for the S25 series was the introduction of the Now Bar & Now Brief. The personalized and context aware AI looks to deliver you helpful, relevant information when you need it - such as what time to leave to make an appointment, taking into account current traffic conditions and travel restrictions. The S25 FE has a personal data core, which learns your usage patterns and what you access, and when. The more you use the phone, the better Now Bar notifications and the Now Brief will become. The Galaxy S25 FE is also the first Samsung phone to ship with OneUI 8 - the latest interface overlaid on Android 16. It's coming to the rest of the Galaxy S25 family this month. Samsung's pushing software longevity too, with seven years of OS upgrades and security updates guaranteed for the phone. And things get even better when we look at the battery, with the Galaxy S25 FE boasting the largest battery Samsung has put in a FE handset. You get a 4,900mAh power pack, up from 4,700mAh in the S24 FE, and with 45W charging Samsung says you can replenish up to 50% in 30 minutes. There's also 15W Qi2 wireless charging, but there's no MagSafe compatibility like we've seen with PixelSnap on the new Pixel 10 series. Instead, the S25 FE retains its power share feature, allowing you to use the phone to wireless charge other devices - such as phones and earbuds. You'll have to wait for our full Galaxy S25 FE review to find out how well the battery performs, and whether the chipset and RAM combo have enough grunt to deliver the AI experiences with reasonable speed. Galaxy S25 FE early verdict Samsung has made a number of notable upgrades over the previous generation to make the Galaxy S25 FE feel like a worthy addition to the S25 family. While it might not quite be the "no compromise" phone Samsung is billing it as, there's plenty to like and there's enough features to keep it competitive against it's Apple and Google rivals. Just how well it can perform remains to be seen - keep an eye out for our full review - but the early signs for the Samsung Galaxy S25 FE are positive. And with months before it'll be troubled by an iPhone 17e or Pixel 10a, the S25 FE has plenty of time to enjoy the spotlight.

Samsung Galaxy S25 FE First Impressions
Buyers get six months of free Google AI Pro plan with the phone The Samsung Galaxy S25 FE has finally been launched in global markets, after surfacing online several times over the past few months. It arrives with brand-new hardware, but it is a package that we have seen before. The FE or 'Fan Edition' models are usually a popular choice among consumers for various reasons. They bear a resemblance to the top-of-the-line Galaxy S series models and feature high-end specifications, but at a considerably lower price point. Like previous iterations, the Samsung Galaxy S25 FE sits between the most expensive A-series handset and the entry-level S-series model. It is also priced as such. The Samsung Galaxy S25 FE price begins at $649 (roughly Rs. 57,200) for the base configuration with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage. It is also available with 256GB and 512GB of storage, priced accordingly. The company is yet to announce the price of the Galaxy S25 FE in India. Here are our first impressions of the Samsung Galaxy S25 FE, which falls in a highly competitive price bracket with plenty of offerings from brands such as iQOO, Vivo, and OnePlus. Samsung Galaxy S25 FE: Design and Display Just like its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy S25 FE carries forward the company's tried-and-tested formula of adopting the design of its flagship Galaxy S-series models. It closely resembles the Galaxy S25, with the same three distinct camera rings vertically arranged on the back of the phone. The Samsung Galaxy S25 FE is 0.6mm thinner than Galaxy S24 FE, as per the company The rear panel has a matte texture that is smooth to the touch, doesn't easily attract fingerprints, and feels premium. It is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus+ (like the smartphone's display), while the frame is made using Samsung's Aluminium Armor. As per the brand, the Galaxy S25 FE is 0.6mm thinner and 23g lighter than its predecessor. In terms of ergonomics, the phone doesn't feel too heavy to hold. The handset is available in Jet Black, Navy, and White colourways. I got to see the Navy and White options during a hands-on session, and the Navy colour option looks more premium, in my opinion. Similar to the flagship Galaxy S25 models, you get a speaker grille, SIM slot, microphone, and the USB Type-C port at the bottom. The Galaxy S25 FE has an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, respectively. The phone has a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display Moving on to the display, the Samsung Galaxy S25 FE sports a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen with a Full HD+ resolution, and a 120Hz refresh rate. Based on my initial impressions, the panel produces sharp visuals with deep blacks and vibrant colours. There is also an in-display fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication, but I did not get a chance to test it. We will thoroughly test the screen quality and discuss it in our in-depth review, which should be out soon. Samsung Galaxy S25 FE: Camera, Features, and Battery The Samsung Galaxy S25 FE is powered by the company's proprietary Exynos 2400 chipset, borrowed from last year's Galaxy S24 lineup. In our Galaxy S24 review, we found the chip to be no slouch when compared to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. However, the Galaxy S25 FE may yet have a different story to tell, so stay tuned for our review of the handset. You also get 8GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage. Interestingly, the 128GB variant of the Galaxy S25 FE ships with UFS 3.1, while the 256GB and 512GB variants get UFS 4.0. One good thing here is that the brand continues to offer one of the longest periods of software support in the industry, promising seven years of OS and security updates. It's also only the third handset in Samsung's Galaxy smartphone lineup to ship with Android 16-based One UI 8. Galaxy S25 FE is only the third Samsung phone to ship with Android 16-based One UI 8 The Samsung Galaxy S25 FE also comes with several built-in AI features. There's the entire Galaxy AI suite, with features such as Sketch to Image, Interpreter, Audio Eraser, Generative Edit, and Auto Trim. It also features Google's Circle to Search and Gemini Live. The handset also gets the Now Bar and Now Brief features, which were introduced with the flagship Galaxy S25 series. However, using them requires a Samsung account login and an active internet connection. The inclusion of flagship-grade AI features on a non-flagship model certainly makes it an interesting proposition. In the camera department, the Samsung Galaxy S25 FE sports a triple rear camera unit, comprising a 50-megapixel wide-angle main rear sensor, alongside an 8-megapixel telephoto shooter and a 12-megapixel ultrawide lens. On paper, the wide and ultrawide cameras are the same as the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25 Plus models. You also get a 12-megapixel sensor on the front for selfies and video calls. The phone is capable of recording videos at up to 8K/ 30fps. We will test the cameras thoroughly in our upcoming review to see if they match expectations. White colourway of the Samsung Galaxy S25 FE The Samsung Galaxy S25 FE packs a slightly bigger 4,900mAh battery compared to the Galaxy S24 FE. On paper, the handset should deliver more hours of usage, but you should wait for our detailed battery benchmarks and tests which will be part of our review. It supports the same 45W wired and 15W Qi2 wireless fast charging as its predecessor. Samsung says that customers who purchase the Galaxy S25 FE will get six months of access to Google AI Pro at no additional cost. This gets you access to advanced Gemini models, increased rate limits, integration of Gemini in Google apps, and 2TB of cloud storage across Drive, Docs, and Google Photos. This could potentially add to the value-for-money factor of the Samsung Galaxy S25 FE. But will the handset deliver on all the promises it makes? Stay tuned for our in-depth Samsung Galaxy S25 FE review to find out.

Samsung has announced the Galaxy S25 FE, a lighter and slimmer follow-up to last year's S24 FE. The S25 FE brings a refreshed design, on-device AI features and a cooling upgrade, while keeping Samsung's long software promise intact. In addition, Samsung also unveiled the Galaxy Tab S11 series and the Buds 3 FE. Here's everything you need to know about the Galaxy S25 FE. The S25 FE moves to a 7.4 mm chassis at 190 g, down from 0.6 mm and 23 g from the S24 FE, yet bumps the battery to 4,900 mAh. The charging speed has also been bumped up to 45 W wired and 15 W wireless. Inside is the Exynos 2400, which is paired with a 10% larger vapour chamber and a new thermal interface that Samsung claims offers steadier performance in games and video work. The S25 FE features a 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED 120 Hz panel rated at up to 1,900 nits. Samsung's Vision Booster continues to tune colour and contrast outdoors so highlights don't wash out at peak brightness. The phone uses Corning Gorilla Glass Victus Plus, gets an IP68 rating and the same "Enhanced Armour Aluminium" frame as the S25 and S25+. The triple-camera setup includes a 50 MP wide, 12 MP ultra-wide, and 8 MP 3x telephoto, plus a new 12 MP selfie camera. Samsung's ProVisual and Object-Aware engines return from the S25 line with 8K30 FPS video support. On the software side, One UI 8 (based on Android 16) brings on-device Galaxy AI for things like live call translation without the internet, alongside cloud features based on Google Gemini. Creator-focused tools highlighted by Samsung include Generative Edit, Sketch to Image, Instant Slow-Mo, and an upgraded Audio Eraser that can now auto-detect and suppress common background noises. Circle to Search for gameplay, which was first seen on Samsung's latest generation of foldables- Fold 7 and Flip 7, arrives here too, bringing level-specific help and timestamps without leaving the game. Samsung is offering a six-month Google AI Pro suite trial with the S25 FE, which includes access to more capable Gemini models across Gmail/Docs and 2 TB of cloud storage. The phone will be sold in Navy, White, and Jet Black, with 8 GB RAM and 128 GB, 256 GB, or 512 GB storage options. As is common with Samsung devices, there's no charger in the box. Samsung's update policy remains unchanged: 7 years of Android OS upgrades and 7 years of security updates.

The handset ships with a 4,900 mAh battery with 45W fast charging (vs 25W on S24 FE), wireless charging retained at 15W. Samsung has launched its next Fan Edition smartphone - Galaxy S25 FE, officially unveiled at Galaxy Unpacked. The new model has received some significant upgrades over last year's S24 FE. Apart from the hardware, the phone has also come with some impressive design changes, including a lighter and slimmer form factor. Here we have compared both the handsets to help you choose a phone with the best value for your money. At first glance, the Samsung Galaxy S25 FE may look like déjà vu with flat sides, rounded corners, and a rear camera setup. But the device does have some subtle enhancements likely to elevate the feel. The newly launched device is thinner, with 7.4 mm as compared to the 8.0 mm thickness of the Galaxy S24 FE. It is also noticeably lighter at 190 g. Additionally, it has an Armour Aluminium frame and Gorilla Glass Victus+ for improved durability. Like its predecessor, the S25 FE maintains IP68 protection against dust and water In terms of display, the Galaxy S25 FE retains the same 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel, with Full HD+ resolution and a smooth 120 Hz refresh rate, as the Galaxy S24 FE. However, the device comes with Samsung's Vision Booster to enhance visibility. Under the hood, the Galaxy S25 FE is powered by the full-fledged Exynos 2400 chip, an upgrade from the down-clocked "2400e" in the S24 FE. Additionally, it packs 8GB RAM and up to 512 GB storage. Out of the box, the S25 FE runs Android 16 with Samsung's latest One UI 8. Apart from these, the handset also packs Galaxy AI tools like Gemini Live, Circle to Search, and Creator-focused tools like Generative Edit, Sketch to Image, Instant Slow-Mo, and an upgraded Audio Eraser. Further, the Circle to Search for gameplay, which was first seen on Samsung's latest generation of foldables- Fold 7 and Flip 7, arrives here too.
