Acer's refreshed laptops may be the most versatile devices I've seen at CES 2025
The latest models, including updated Aspire, Vero, and Swift laptops, leverage both Nvidia and AMD processors for enhanced AI computing. Today at CES, Acer announced a handful of updated laptops across its flagship Swift, Swift Go, and Vero lines, including new all-in-one desktop computers and additional Copilot+ PCs. Also: This Thunderbolt 4 cable alternative offers the same speed and longer sizes for 40% less It's broadening its offering of Copilot+ PCs, introducing an Intel device (the Acer Aspire 14 AI) and an AMD device (the Acer Swift Go 16 and 14 AI). Both feature updated external designs and come with sleeker, more lightweight form factors and additional OLED display options -- all in the mid-range price point to round out Acer's accessible product portfolio. Here's a summary of what was announced. The Swift Go 14- and 16-inch with Intel's Series 2 Core Ultra 9 processor brings a new level of performance to the lineup, matched with an Intel Arc GPU and the improved battery performance we've seen from the processor family. Additionally, Acer upped the ante with 3K OLED displays and support for Wi-Fi 7. The Swift Go 14 will be available in North America in May, starting at $899, while the Swift Go 16 won't be coming until April, and will start at $1,299. Acer's Vero line remains one of the most outwardly eco-conscious laptops on the market, and I was impressed with its commitment to sustainability when I went hands on with last year's version. The materials used in the laptop's construction (70% post-consumer recycled plastic and oyster shell material) are unique in the industry, and it's more than a start. Also: How I turned the Starlink Mini into an almost perfect off-grid internet solution This year, it's powered by an Intel Core Ultra 200H series processor and a modest suite of hardware, yielding an accessible device for the everyday user interested in the sustainability message. It will support Wi-Fi 7, and feature two Thunderbolt 4 ports as new additions. Acer's AI-ready Copilot+ versions of the Swift Go 14 and 16 will be imbued with AMD's Ryzen AI 300 Series (Ryzen 7 350 or Ryzen 7 340) processors for up to 50 NPU TOPS. On the GPU side, they'll come with AMD's latest Radeon 800M graphics card, opening up workflows for creatives such as photo and video editing. Also: The best laptops of 2025: Expert tested and reviewed These models have also been upgraded with 3K OLED displays and a slim-and-sleek form factor featuring some geometric designs on the lid that I can't help but compare to Asus' Zenbook products. They do look good, however, and the brilliant displays with AMD's chips make a versatile mid-range device. The 16-inch version will be available in April, starting at $949, while the 14-inch version will come out in May, starting at $899. Acer's second new Copilot+ PC comes as a more affordable option, with Intel's Series 2 Core Ultra processor and either a 14-inch 16:10 OLED option or WUXGA touch-enabled panel. Under the hood, it's running up to 32GB of RAM, Thunderbolt 4 ports, and an HDMI 2.1 port, which can support up to an 8K monitor. Also: McAfee's new AI tool detects email and text scams before you fall for them Weighing 3.09 pounds, this is Acer's lightweight mid-range laptop for the AI-ready student or professional user. Its form factor also comes with a 180-degree hinge so it can lay completely flat. It will be available in North America in February, starting at $799. This cool gadget provides Wi-Fi 7 speeds of up to 2,880 Mbps (6 GHz) with throughput across all bands (2.4, 5, and 6 GHz) and both USB Type-A and Type-C connectors for a plug-and-play installation. We'll have to go hands-on to test out its functionality further but it looks like a very cool idea that could have some useful applications. Acer says it will be available in North America starting in Q1 2025 for $79. Acer's new all-in-one offerings include the Aspire S AI AiO lineup, a minimalist, all-white device that comes in a variety of configurations, including one with a 26-inch display available in both Full HD and QHD resolutions. Also: Intel's next-gen Core Ultra chips could set a new high standard for mobile computing in 2025 What's notable about these is that it's powered by the Intel Core Ultra Series 2 processors with up to 48 NPU TOPS and an integrated Intel Arc GPU. Availability and pricing for these models are not yet available. On the other side of the aisle, Acer's C24 AI all-in-one features a 23.8-inch or 27-inch display with up to QHD (2560x1440) resolution and 180Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, the C24 lineup is powered by AMD's Ryzen AI 300 Series processor with an NPU providing up to 50 TOPS and up to 64GB of RAM. It also comes with an AMD Radeon 800M graphics card to bring a gaming and entertainment dimension to the device. No availability or pricing details yet for these products.

Acer's CES Laptop Refresh Leans Into Copilot+ PCs and ... Oyster Shells?
The Aspire Vero 16 is part of Acer's push to develop an environmentally friendly PC. At least 69% of the laptop's chassis is made of "post-consumer" recycled plastic, while at least 1% comes from oyster shell material. "This laptop has remained committed to carbon neutrality throughout its lifecycle," Acer says. The company didn't go into details, but the announcement suggests the Taiwanese PC maker has found a way to substitute some plastic in today's PCs with an animal-made alternative. The company says the oyster shell material is infused in the laptop's palm rest and bottom cover. Meanwhile, the post-recycled plastic covers at least 60% of the lid, 75% of the display frame, and 50% of the keycaps. The 16-inch laptop also promises to feature the high performance of a regular laptop without sacrificing any durability. "The Aspire Vero 16 is powered by Intel Core Ultra 200H series processors supported by up to 32GB of memory and up to 2TB of storage, offering robust performance for all computing needs," the company adds. The Aspire Vero 16 will launch in North America in April, starting at $799.99 and CAD $1,099.99. Other features include support for Wi-Fi 7, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, and HDMI 2.1. Acer's Copilot+ PC Push Like other PC makers, Acer is also pushing hard on AI features for its latest laptops. At CES, the company is debuting two new Copilot+ PC laptops in the Swift Go 16 AI and Swift Go 14 AI. As Copilot+ PCs, these laptops pack enough neural processing to execute AI-based features locally rather than relying on servers. However, these Swift laptops won't run Qualcomm's Snapdragon X processors. Instead, Acer decided to use AMD's Ryzen AI 300 series chips. "The new Swift Go AI laptops can run efficiently and reliably for all-day use with a battery life of up to 24.9 hours of video playback while powering the AI features," the company said. Acer also says the laptops have been designed to have a premium feel by incorporating a newly designed aluminum chassis, OLED displays, and a 1440p infrared web camera. Both laptops also have 180-degree hinges, enabling the display to lay flat. The Swift Go 16 AI will land in North America in April, starting at $949.99 and CAD $1,349.99. The 14-inch version will arrive a month later, starting at $899.99 and CAD $1,249.99. If you're not a fan of AMD, Acer will refresh the existing Swift Go 16 and Swift Go 14 with Intel Core Ultra Series 2 processors, which will launch in the same time frames with the same pricing. The company also developed the Aspire 14 AI, which has been outfitted with Intel's "Lunar Lake" Core Ultra 2 processors. Expect the product to feature a 180-degree hinge and all-day battery life with up to 22 hours of video playback. However, the Aspire 14 will only support Wi-Fi 6E rather than Wi-Fi 7. Acer says the product will launch in North America next month, starting at $799.99 and CAD $1,099.99. The Aspire 14 AI and the Swift Go AI laptop all include access to Acer's AI-powered programs, which include features to improve the image and voice quality during video calls. "In addition, the Aspire 14 AI includes Acer Assist, a personalized knowledge base that operates without an internet connection," the company said. "The Swift Go AI laptops also feature Acer User Sensing 2.0, which uses the built-in proximity sensor to protect data shown on the screen by locking the device when users move away from the laptops."

Acer just unveiled new Copilot+ laptops with OLED at CES 2025, and I'm intrigued
Follow our CES 2025 live blog for all the biggest tech and gadget news straight from Las Vegas. And be sure to follow Tom's Guide on TikTok for the coolest videos live from the show. CES 2025 is in full swing, and that means the biggest names in PCs are in Las Vegas this week unveiling their first big products of 2025. This is a big deal because it's traditionally where you get your first real impression of what the year ahead is going to look like, tech-wise, and this year our team is on the show floor reporting on CES 2025 live. Acer is also at CES 2025 with a slew of new laptops, desktops and other gadgets to show off, and AI continues to be a big talking point. Most notably, the company is refreshing some of its flagship Aspire and Swift Go laptops with updated x86 processors, including the (relatively) new AMD Ryzen AI 300 CPUs and Intel Core Ultra 200H chips. I'll run down the specs Acer has shared so far shortly, but the important thing to note here is that the company is releasing new versions of its 14-inch and 16-inch Swift Go AI laptops which run on AMD silicon, come with OLED displays and start between $899-$949 when they go on sale in the U.S. in May. For Intel fans, Acer also unveiled a new Aspire 14 AI laptop that comes with Intel Core Ultra 200 series CPUs, an optional OLED display and a sweet starting price of $799 when it goes on sale in North America in February. Each of these new laptops is capable enough to qualify as a Copilot+ PC, which means they support the full slate of Windows 11 Home/Pro features -- including the controversial (and optional) Windows Recall. I've been covering laptops for a decade, and for my money Acer's most exciting Copilot+ laptops at CES 2025 are the new 14-inch and 16-inch Acer Swift Go AI ultraportables. I generally find most Acer laptops I review are capable, durable machines that deliver good value for money, and while I didn't love the nascent AI features in the Acer Swift Go 14 I reviewed I did love its sturdy build, great port array and comfy keyboard. That's why I'm excited that in Spring 2025 Acer's bringing a new Acer Swift Go 14 AI (as well as a larger 16-inch model) to North America at a starting price of $799. Both are configurable with the latest AMD laptop chips, laptop-grade AMD Radeon graphics cards and 2K or 3K OLED displays. That last part is really what's exciting me about these machines: they look like affordable means of getting your hands on a capable ultraportable with an eye-catching OLED display. It's still not easy to find a great OLED laptop for under $1,000, and if Acer's latest Swift Go models can hit that mark with aplomb they could be some of the best budget laptops of the year. If you can't wait until April or May to buy a new laptop, Acer also has a new Intel-powered Aspire 14 AI Copilot+ laptop launching in the U.S. this February at a starting price of $799. This model is $100 cheaper than the new 14-inch Swift Go AI, but it's also heavier, has a worse webcam and doesn't offer the option of a discrete laptop GPU. However, you do have the option of configuring the new Acer Aspire 14 AI with a 14-inch OLED display instead of the default IPS model. You can also opt in for a touchscreen, which I appreciate having for those times when I need to take my hands up off the trackpad because they're starting to cramp up. It's a promising budget 14-incher, and I'm hoping we get a chance to review one soon -- stay tuned!

Acer's CES 2025 laptop launches include its greenest ever model | Stuff
Carbon-neutral Aspire Vero 16 and AI-friendly models lead this year's line-up If, like me, your new year's resolution is to increase your sustainability, you'll probably like the look of Acer's new Aspire Vero 16. One among many mid-range laptops launched by the company at CES 2025 this week, the Aspire Vero 16 is billed as fully carbon-neutral throughout its entire life cycle. Over 70% of its chassis is made from a mixture of recycled plastic and, in a world first, a bio-based oyster shell material, and it's been designed to be easier to maintain and fix than most laptops. So, if something does go awry with it, your first port of call might be your local repair shop rather than the council dump. The Aspire Vero 16 runs on Intel's latest Core Ultra 200H series silicon and up to 32GB of RAM, with storage of up to 2TB, promising mean performance to support its green credentials. It'll be available later this year from $800/€1199. It's joined in the CES launch line-up by the Acer Aspire 14 AI, a compact and lightweight notebook (just 1.4kg) with a choice between OLED or touch-enabled WUXGA 14in displays, both hinged in order to open up to 180 degrees. It also runs on an Intel Core Ultra processor, which has a built-in NPU to help with AI workloads, and battery life officially runs to 22 hours for video playback. Look out for it from February 2025, priced from $800/€999. Meanwhile, the new Acer Swift Go 14 and 16 laptops come with similar internal hardware and performance specs to the Vero 16, plus a choice of 3K OLED or 2K IPS touch displays with 180-degree opening. Battery life looks impressive (over 27 hours of video playback, Acer claims) and also included are HDMI 2.1, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity, and 1440p webcams. The Swift Go 14 will be available from $900/€1249, and the Swift Go 16 from $950/€1299. Acer is also launching the Swift Go 14 AI and Swift Go 16 AI, Copilot+ versions of the above that look outwardly similar but run on AMD Ryzen AI 7 350 or 340 processors for slicker AI performance. Expect to pay similar prices to the non-AI versions when they arrive later this year.

Our favorite budget laptop just got a refresh at CES 2025 -- can it hold on to its top spot in 2025?
On Monday, Acer announced a refresh to its entire Swift Go line-up, which includes Laptop Mag's top budget laptop. Acer kicked off CES 2025 this week by unveiling new and improved versions of the Swift Go 14, Swift Go 16, Swift Go 14 AI, and Swift Go 16 AI. All four models feature updated specs, including new Intel and AMD processors and OLED displays. We've praised the Swift Go's display in previous reviews, so it's nice to see Acer keeping a top-notch display on these budget-friendly laptops. In fact, the 2024 version of the Acer Swift Go 14 is currently Laptop Mag's budget best laptop pick, thanks to its great performance and value. Could one of this year's Swift Go laptops steal that spot? We'll have to wait until our testing lab and reviewers can put them through their paces to find out, but here's a look at everything we know so far. The Acer Swift Go 14 has consistently been one of Laptop Mag's top budget laptops thanks to a good balance of price and performance. It might not be the cheapest laptop you can buy, but it does deliver great value for your money. All four new models start under $1,000. So, I'm glad to see Acer giving this line-up a refresh. The standard Swift Go 14 and 16 feature Intel Core Ultra 200H series CPUs, while the Swift Go 14 and 16 AI feature AMD Ryzen AI 300 series CPUs. Both versions have the same starting prices, though, and the same spec options. So, if you want an Intel processor, go with the standard Swift Go. If you prefer AMD, go with the Swift Go AI. Thanks to the neural processing unit (NPU) in Intel and AMD's latest chips, the new Swift Go laptops feature improved on-device AI performance. They come with a few AI apps and tools pre-installed, including Microsoft Copilot, Acer LiveArt 2.0, Acer PurifiedVoice 2.0, and Acer Purified View 2.0. PurifiedVoice and PurifiedView are apps that use AI to enhance voice and video calls, while LiveArt is an AI art app. The design for the new Swift Go laptops is very similar to last year's but features an updated hinge that allows you to open the laptop a full 180 degrees. The specs and prices for all four models are fairly similar, although there are a few differences: The Acer Swift Go 16 and Swift Go 16 AI will be available in North America in April and the Swift Go 14 and Swift Go 14 AI will arrive close behind in May. The previous models from the Swift Go line-up certainly set the bar high, but if these new versions are anything like last year's, they'll be top contenders for our best budget laptop spot. Stay tuned for our full review to see how this year's Acer Swift Go performs and how it compares to the competition.
