AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 12-Core "Strix" APU is 46% Faster Than Ryzen 9 8945HS & 38% Faster Than Core Ultra 9 185H
AMD's Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, the fastest Strix APU, has been tested in Cinebench, showcasing huge multi-threaded uplifts versus Meteor Lake & Hawk Point. AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 "Strix" APU Delivers A Massive 46% Uplift Versus Meteor Lake In Cinebench Benchmark AMD's first Ryzen AI 300 laptops are expected to hit retail later this month & it looks like everyone is prepping for the launch. The two main chips that will be part of the Ryzen AI 300 family are the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 and Ryzen AI 9 365. These are the two chips that have been announced so far but we have also spotted various other SKUs in the standard and PRO flavors. With that said, we have a new benchmark today, once again showcasing some brutally fast multi-threaded performance. The AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 APU is part of the Ryzen AI 300 "Strix Point" family and features a 12-core and 24-thread chip that features a four Zen 5 and eight Zen 5C configuration. This chip runs at up to 5.1 GHz boost clocks, offers 36 MB of cache (24 MB L3 + 12 MB L2), & the Radeon 890M iGPU with 16 compute units or 1024 cores. So versus the previous flagship, the Ryzen 9 8945HS, you are getting 50% more cores/threads, 33.3% more compute units, and 3.12x the NPU performance which is great gen-over-gen gains. The performance numbers in Cinebench R23 come from HXL (@9550pro). The leak shows the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 listed within the test. There's no mention of what power limit, TDP, or laptop it was tested in. These are all important metrics for mobility chips as they can affect performance by a huge margin. TDP doesn't matter if there's not enough cooling to sustain over 54W+ power limits and that results in huge clock and performance regression. It looks like these scores could've been done on a high-end laptop with proper cooling since HXL also shared another test result with lower scores than this. In terms of performance, the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 "Strix" APU scored 23,302 points in the multi-core and 2010 points in the single-core tests. These are great performance results as they put the Strix APU 44% ahead of the Hawk Point flagship (8945HS) and 38% ahead of the Meteor Lake flagship (185H) in multi-core tests. The single-core score also sees a 14% uplift versus the AMD Hawk Point and a 9% uplift versus the Meteor Lake CPUs. The Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 is also able to match the Ryzen 9 7845HX running at 90W from our Alienware m16 laptop. Once again, the new Strix chip can scale from 15W up to 54W so even at its maximum TDP, it's sipping almost half the power of the Ryzen 9 7845HX while delivering similar performance. AMD's Ryzen AI 300 CPUs including the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 "Strix" APU will be featured across several high-end "AI PC" and gaming laptops so stay tuned as we approach launch to see what more these designs have to offer. AMD's fastest new laptop chip beats Apple M3 Max in single-core performance -- Apple fires back at AMD's Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 in multi-core
Cinebench R23 tests show that the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 outclasses equivalent to previous-generation chips from AMD, Apple, and Intel in single-core performance. AMD's next-generation mobile and desktop chips are expected to launch in July, and we've seen some benchmark results for the top-end Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 gradually appearing online. Hardware detective HXL shared a photograph of a Cinebench R23 test showing AMD's latest processor running Windows 10. The Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 achieved a single-core score of 2,010 points, while its multi-core performance hit 23,302. The HX 370 seemingly beats both the AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX3D and the Intel Core Ultra 9 185H in single-core performance, but it's still outclassed by the former in terms of multi-core score owing to the Ryzen 9 7945HX3D's eight extra threads. It's also interesting to see the new AMD chip getting a higher single-core score than the Apple M3 Max and a multi-score performance within a stone's throw of Apple's top laptop chip. We do have an issue with the conducted test, though, as AMD has dropped support for Windows 10 on its Ryzen AI 300 series processors. Nevertheless, resourceful PC enthusiasts could find a way to make it work, or maybe AMD did not include Windows 10 in its documentation, but the hardware could still run it. Cinebench R23 focuses more on productivity; thus, these results show that the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 packs some muscle. However, the leaker didn't indicate what other parts this system has, so we don't have the complete picture of how it would perform in the real world. With the launch just a few weeks away, many AMD fans would be excited to get their hands on its latest processors. But we recommend holding off on your purchases until tech reviewers get their hands on these laptops and run them through their paces. That way, you know which options to look at and can get your money's worth on the new computer you'll buy.
