Apple Intelligence Will Support More Languages in April, Says Tim Cook
Currently, the AI features only support the English language Apple Intelligence will soon support more languages including support for localised English for India. The announcement was made by CEO Tim Cook during the company's fiscal Q1 2025 earnings call. The Cupertino-based tech giant's artificial intelligence (AI) features suite is currently available in only the English language, but the company plans to expand support to more languages starting in April. While Hindi is among these new languages, the company will introduce support for India-specific English language with an over-the-air update. During the quarterly earnings call, Cook announced, "We're excited that Apple Intelligence will be available in even more languages this April." The CEO also revealed revenue details of the company and called the October-December 2024 period "our best quarter ever". Notably, Apple claimed to have generated a revenue of $124.3 billion (roughly Rs. 10.8 lakh crores). Apple's first quarter of the current fiscal year was marked by the launch of the iPhone 16 series, where Apple Intelligence was a major talking point. However, the AI features did not roll out till the iOS 18.1 update in December, and they still support only the English language (localised for Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, the UK, and the US). Cook addressed the issue and announced that starting in April, the company's AI suite will support multiple new languages. These include Chinese, English (India), English (Singapore), French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, and Vietnamese. Apple's support page also states support for additional languages will be added, but these were not mentioned. Notably, Hindi is not part of the planned expansion. Apple Intelligence is currently available with the iPhone 16 series, iPhone 15 Pro models, iPad models with A17 Pro or M1 and newer, and Mac devices with M1 and newer. These features only work when the device is set to one of the supported languages and there is 7GB of storage available. Some of the AI-powered features available with Apple Intelligence include Genmoji, Image Playground, Writing Tools, Clean Up in Photos, natural language search in Photos, Notification Summaries, Priority Messages in Mail, Smart Replies in Mail and Messages, ChatGPT integration within Siri, and more.

Apple Intelligence will support more languages from April | TechCrunch
Apple's AI suite, Apple Intelligence, will soon be available in French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, and simplified Chinese, along with localized English versions for India and Singapore. During the company's Q4 2024 quarterly results call on Thursday, CEO Tim Cook said that the company will roll out support for these additional languages in April. Last year, Apple Intelligence's first release only supported U.S. English. Later, in December, when the company issued the iOS 18.2 update, it included support for English in Australian, Canadian, New Zealand, South African, and U.K. localizations. The company hasn't revealed plans to roll out its AI suite in the EU and Mainland China. Cook also noted that the new version of Siri, which understands on-screen context, will come out "over the next several months."

Apple Intelligence is getting more languages
Slowly but surely, Apple is expanding its Apple Intelligence set of smart features to new markets. During the company's earnings call on Thursday, Apple CEO Tim Cook revealed that the AI will get support for eight more languages in April (via MacRumors). The languages on the list are French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, and simplified Chinese. Right now, Apple Intelligence only supports English in these regions: the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and South Africa. In April, it will also expand to cover English-speaking users in India and Singapore. While Cook hasn't explicitly said this, this will likely coincide with the launch of iOS 18.4. This is a big deal for Apple Intelligence, which Apple has been rolling out slowly and very carefully throughout the second half of 2024. In Europe, the company's AI still doesn't work in most scenarios due to EU's DMA regulations; Apple claims that "many of the core features of Apple Intelligence will start to roll out to iPhone and iPad users in the EU" in April. During the earnings call, Cook said that Apple Intelligence adoption will increase as more people switch to iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 models, which are the only ones that support the AI right now. The CEO also defended the usefulness of Apple Intelligence. "...once you start using the features you can't imagine not using them anymore," he said. "I know I get hundreds of emails a day, and the summarization function is so important." Cook also said that Siri's Apple Intelligence functionality will roll out "over the next several months."

Tim Cook says Apple Intelligence to be available in India starting April
iOS 18.4 is expected to bring a more intelligent Siri, context awareness, and personalized features. Apple reported its highest-ever revenue in the first quarter of the fiscal year. While iPads and Macs saw a more positive sales trend, the company reported a slight decrease in iPhone sales. Apple CEO Tim Cook also stated that more people upgraded their iPhones this time, thanks to the AppIe Intelligence features. Customers prefer the iPhone 16 over the iPhone 15 models for access to Apple Intelligence features, he added. Cook also stated that iPhone 16 series sales were higher in the markets where Apple's AI features were available and that the iPhone 16 series outperformed the iPhone 15 a few months after its release. READ: Apple registers record quarter revenue with strong services sales but misses iPhone target Apple sees this as an opportunity for growth in markets such as China and others, and has announced that Apple Intelligence features will be available in additional languages such as French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, simplified Chinese, and localized English in Singapore and India. "We're working hard to take Apple Intelligence even further. In April, we're bringing Apple Intelligence to more languages, including French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, and simplified Chinese, as well as localized English to Singapore and India," Cook added. The iOS users can now anticipate a massive overhaul with the upcoming iOS 18.4 update in April, even though Apple has not yet made an official announcement. Apple is now anticipated to release a far more intelligent Siri with context awareness and personalization, the report claims. It may be able to access the user's personal information and view what's on their phone screen and analyze emails, messages, photos, calendar events, files, and other data to provide answers to user queries. Mark Gurman previously stated that the company plans to include new emojis and support for additional languages in the upcoming iOS 18.4 update.
