Siri may get its big upgrade with Apple Intelligence in January 2025: Here's are the likely changes - Times of India
Apple users eagerly awaiting the promised AI enhancements to Siri might receive an early New Year's gift. Some of the highly anticipated Apple Intelligence features could arrive as soon as January 2025, potentially months ahead of the originally expected March release. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple is considering pushing out some of the new AI-powered Siri capabilities with iOS 18.3.This update is reportedly slated for completion by the end of 2024, with a possible January rollout. While the exact features coming in this potential early release remain unspecified, they are expected to be part of the broader Apple Intelligence. Gurman reports that the most significant AI enhancements are still planned for iOS 18.4, targeted for a March release. However, Apple's decision to potentially move some features to an earlier update could be a response to user anticipation and competitive pressure in the AI assistant space. The staggered rollout of Apple Intelligence began with iOS 18, released in September 2024. Subsequent updates are set to introduce new capabilities gradually. iOS 18.1, expected in October, will bring visual changes to Siri's activation and improved speech recognition. December's iOS 18.2 update is slated to introduce AI-generated emojis and ChatGPT integration. The January iOS 18.3 update may now include some early Siri AI features, with the full overhaul still planned for iOS 18.4 in March. Apple likely to unveil revamped Siri with AI in early 2025
Timeline for rollout of new version of Siri -- announced Apple during WWDC 2024 in June -- remained unknown until recently Apple, the world's leading phone manufacturer, had quite a busy past few weeks following the launch of its latest iPhone 16 series, featuring its iOS 18, earlier this month. With the iPhone 16 series available in stores in many countries, Apple enthusiasts are now eagerly waiting for the roll out of Apple Intelligence -- the tech company's suite of artificial intelligence features -- which is expected to make its debut in October with iOS 18.1, India Today reported. Despite Apple Intelligence being rolled out next month, the full suite of AI features will be gradually introduced over the course of 2025. These AI powered features also include a revamped version of Siri, which promises to redefine the personal assistant experience. However, the timeline for the rollout of the new version of Siri, which was announced by the iPhone maker during its Worldwide Developers' Conference 2024 in June, remained unknown until recently. Some of the new Siri features could potentially be integrated into iOS 18.3, which may be expected to arrive as early as January, India Today reported citing insights from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. Additionally, he stated that new features will be rolled out with every iOS 18 update. The iOS 18.1 will bring the first wave of Apple Intelligence in mid-October, including a light Siri refresh, Writing Tools, Photos Clean Up, and Notification Summaries. Apple's iOS 18.1 will be followed by iOS 18.2, which is expected to introduce Image Playground, Genmoji, as well as ChatGPT integration. This is expected to be followed by the 2025 launch of iOS 18.3, featuring the updated Siri. The revamped Siri is expected to feature a glowing light around the screen edges when activated. It will also have enhanced functionality, including onscreen awareness to perform actions based on the content displayed on the screen. Notably, Apple partnered with OpenAI to integrate ChatGPT technology into Siri, boosting its generative AI capabilities and enabling it to handle more complex tasks and provide more sophisticated responses.

Apple to introduce AI-Powered Siri with iOS 18.3 update in 2025
Tech giant Apple is planning to unveil a revamped AI-powered Siri with its upcoming iOS 18.3 update in early 2025 months after launching the iPhone 16 series. Soon after the release of the new iPhone lineup, Apple is likely to debut its iOS 18.1 in October this year. The update will bring the first wave of Apple Intelligence, including a light Siri refresh, Writing Tools, Photos Clean Up, and Notification Summaries. The iOS 18.2 is expected to introduce Image Playground, Genmoji, as well as ChatGPT integration. However, iPhone users will have to wait till January 2025 when Apple is expected to roll out the iOS 18.3 update that will allow users to experience the AI-powered Siri. Announced during its Worldwide Developers' Conference 2024 in June, Apple did not reveal the timeline for the rollout of the new version of Siri. However, reports have now emerged that the company is planning to integrate the new AI features into iOS 18.3 as early as January. With the update, the tech company is set to revamp Siri with a glowing light around the screen edges after activation along with enhancing functionality. It is worth mentioning here that Apple has collaborated with OpenAI to integrate ChatGPT technology into Siri, to boost its AI capabilities. On September 10, Apple unveiled its long-awaited artificial intelligence-boosted iPhone 16 and promised improvements in its Siri personal assistant as it rolled out new software, beginning in test mode next month. "The next generation of iPhone has been designed for Apple Intelligence from the ground up. It marks the beginning of an exciting new era," Chief Executive Tim Cook said at a product launch. Shares of the tech giant closed barely changed for the day at $220.91. Apple's event came hours before China's Huawei launches a tri-fold phone, underscoring the competitive challenge the iPhone maker faces. Apple has yet to announce an AI partner in China to power the 16s.

Highly Anticipated Siri Experience With Apple Intelligence To Arrive Sooner Than Expected On iPhone With iOS 18.3 Update
Apple released iOS 18 last week, and after ample wait time, users can now customize their Home Screens with various coloring and tools and place apps anywhere on the interface. However, one of the significant aspects of iOS 18 is still missing, which means that the core features that make the update a significant upgrade over iOS 17 are still missing. It is now being reported that Apple will release Apple Intelligence earlier than expected, which comes with the new Siri experience. Mark Gurman states in his latest Power On newsletter that Apple's revamped Siri powered by Apple Intelligence will start rolling out earlier than previously speculated, but it will not be a full-fledged release as the company will divide the features between updates. As per Gurman's sources, some of the new Siri features will start rolling out as early as iOS 18.3, which is different than the company's plans to offer all the features together with iOS 18.4. The biggest iOS 18 update after iOS 18.1 will be iOS 18.4, which will include many of the new Siri features (some are in consideration for iOS 18.3, I'm told). If you are concerned about the release time, Apple typically releases iOS X.3 updates in the first quarter. Gurman claims that iOS 18.1 should be internally ready by this week, which means that the update will be released in mid-October. As for iOS 18.2, Apple states that the update will reach its completion stage in early November, opening doors for a final release in December; iOS 18.3, on the flip side, will be ready by the end of this year and slated to be released in January. iOS 18.4 will be released in March, with internal testing reported to be done by February. iOS 18.1 will be the company's stepping stone into the AI category, as the features would finally be available to the general public, including the new writing tools, summarization, and many more features spread throughout the operating system. iOS 18.2 will further enhance these AI features and also bring new ones to the table, including the new Image Playground tool, Genmoji, along with ChatGPT integration, and more. Siri will be integrated with ChatGPT early next year, which is a welcome addition compared to a later date. Currently, Apple is testing its iOS 18.1 update, which is now available to developers with all new AI features. If you are a developer, you can check out some of the new additions right now. We will let you know when the update is available to the general public.

Apple's AI-Powered Siri: A New Era Begins with iOS 18.3
Reports reveal that this version of Siri is also able to understand far more complex and nuanced speech patterns, making for an altogether much more intuitive user experience. More so, a lot of the tasks will be easy to accomplish with simple voice commands through various native applications. One of the most clearly defining features of the new Siri would be contextual understanding. Vague or indirectly phrased requests will be better interpreted than in earlier versions of Siri. A feature designed ideally to maximize Apple's proprietary AI models was previewed at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024. Another cool feature that is expected for iOS 18.3 would be the new user interface for Siri, complete with glowing screen edges upon activation and the capability to input commands through text using the feature called 'Type to Siri'. Apple has recently also announced that the latest version of its Apple Intelligence will be accompanied by an expansion in additional languages such as English (India), English (Singapore), German, Italian, Portuguese, and Vietnamese. Apple's expansion aligns with its vision to make its AI tools available to a larger population in the world. The company will later this year further enhance the rollout by adding Chinese, French, Japanese, and Spanish. Read more
