Gigabyte Makes Bold Desktop Debut With AI-Driven PC Lineup at Computex
If you're after laptop buying advice, I'm your man. From PC reviews to Starlink testing, I've got more than a decade of experience reviewing PCs and technology products. I got my start with PCMag but have also written for Tom's Guide and LaptopMag.com, and several other tech outlets. With a focus on personal computing (Windows, macOS, and ChromeOS), Starlink satellite internet, and generative AI productivity tools, I'm a professional tech nerd and a power user through and through. Hardware announcements are already coming in hot and fast at Computex, but one bit of news from Gigabyte marks a significant change for the company, which is best known for its desktop components and gaming laptops: Gigabyte desktops are on the way. The decision to move into the consumer desktop space might seem odd, given the decline of desktop computing in recent years, but Gigabyte is banking on one major factor: AI. New Pre-Built Desktop PCs for AI One of Gigabyte's most interesting Computex announcements is its first line of consumer desktop PCs built for gaming and AI. The first is the AI TOP 100 Z890, an ultrapowerful AI-focused desktop that features a liquid-cooled Intel Core Ultra 9 285K processor, an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 GPU, and 128GB of DDR5 memory. The AI TOP 100 Z890 targets small businesses, startups, academics, and AI enthusiasts. This product comprises many of Gigabyte's own AI TOP components, like the Z890 motherboard, AI-ready SSD storage, and a 1600-watt (W) PSU. Together with the silicon parts, these combine to create a powerful machine for AI productivity and 4K gaming. The second is the AI TOP 500 TRX50, but details on this model are thin. I suspect this model contains the same TRX50 AI TOP motherboard we saw at Computex last year. Equipped with four PCIe x16 slots, four NVMe M.2 slots, dual 40Gbps USB Type-C ports, a pair of 10GbE wired LAN controllers, a Wi-Fi 7 radio, and a 16+8+4 power phase design, it's one of the best new motherboards we've seen and should make for an incredible pre-built desktop. Gigabyte has made a concerted effort to capitalize on the AI gold rush of the last two or three years, aggressively making and selling AI data center hardware. Specifically, these are "AI TOP"-branded components and motherboards designed for the unique demands of AI workloads. Purpose-built motherboards with high-end hardware, robust power delivery, and advanced connectivity are already in Gigabyte's stable. These provide AI must-haves like multi-GPU scalability, high-capacity and high-speed memory support, and specialized thermal management to monitor temperatures during heavy AI workloads. Components have also enjoyed Gigabyte's AI upgrades. Gigabyte has AI-specific models of top graphics cards, high-endurance SSDs, and even power supplies that support AI tasks better than the average PSU. The specifics vary from part to part, but these individual components generally work on the same principle of combining server-grade components with modern desktop PCs' flexibility and upgradability. Gigabyte even offers bundle deals, letting shoppers buy a whole system's worth of equipment for easy assembly. Now, those offerings combine into a pair of premium gaming and AI-empowered desktop computers. Instead of bundled components for DIY builders, these are pre-built systems, ready to go right out of the box. Gigabyte Is Going After Desktop Gamers Too But it's not all about AI hardware for Gigabyte. The company is also making a play for a more traditional desktop buyer with a handful of new gaming desktops and desktop kits. The first is the Aorus Supreme 5 / ICE, which combines a premium Gigabyte X870E motherboard with your choice of GeForce RTX 5090 and 5080 graphics cards. Meanwhile, the Aorus PRIME 5 uses a Gigabyte B850 motherboard and AMD Ryzen 7 9700X processor with GeForce RTX 5080 and 5070 Ti GPU options. Finally, for the pickiest PC builders, Gigabyte's new Stealth PC build kit presents an ultra-clean design that hides cables and connectors and packs top components into a gorgeous chassis. Gigabyte says that the kit will come with your choice of the X870 Aorus Stealth Ice or B850 Aorus Stealth Ice motherboards, and an Aorus GeForce RTX 5090 STEALTH ICE 32G graphics card, along with plenty of other Gigabyte components to select from. And while you can put this build in any case you like, it will also be offered with the Gigabyte C500 Panoramic Stealth Ice chassis, which features tempered-glass front and side panels that give the case a 270° panoramic view of the internals. Gigabyte has yet to provide any information about pricing or availability, but judging by the price of the individual components, we already know these won't be cheap. At Last, a Pair of New Gigabyte Gaming Laptops Desktops may be the big focus for Gigabyte at Computex, but Gigabyte also has a couple of new gaming laptops. Instead of the Aorus or Aero brands, these are part of the company's mainline gaming brand, with the Gigabyte Gaming A18 and the Gigabyte Gaming A16 Pro. The Gigabyte Gaming A16 Pro is a slim gaming machine, less than 20mm thick. It houses an Intel Core 7 240H processor and Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 mobile GPU, all supporting 115W max TGP. With up to 32 GB dual-channel LPDDR5x memory and dual SSD slots for 4TB of total storage, you'll find a lot of capability packed into this slim laptop chassis. Dominated by an 18-inch display, the larger Gigabyte Gaming A18 drips with gaming goodness. The giant IPS-level panel has ultra-slim bezels on all four sides, a 165Hz refresh rate, up to WUXGA resolution, and a blistering 3 millisecond (ms) response time. This laptop, equipped with your choice of Intel Core 7 240H or AMD Ryzen 7 260 processors and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 graphics card, should pump out seriously speedy gaming performance. As of this writing, Gigabyte has not announced pricing or availability for any of the systems discussed above. We will update this story with further announcement details from Computex and additional coverage as these products arrive later in the year.

Gigabyte Showcases Its Next Range of Gaming Laptops at Computex, Featuring Microsoft's Copilot+ Certification, Intel's Arrow-Lake HX CPUs & Much More
Gigabyte has jumped onto the AI PC bandwagon as well with its latest generation of laptops, which now offer high-end performance and elegant aesthetics. Gigabyte's Latest "AI PC" Gaming Laptops Will Now Be Integrated With a Personalized GiMATE AI Agent, Taking Edge AI To New Levels Gigabyte is one of the third-party integrators out there that never manages to disappoint us with their new generation of products. From custom GPUs to high-end laptops, Gigabyte always has something in store for its consumers. This time, the firm has unveiled an extensive range of laptop offerings, covering the premium "AORUS Master" lineup all the way to the more budget-friendly "Gaming" series, which means that the newer laptops are intended for all audiences out there, not just limited to a particular budget segment. Starting with AORUS Master models, Gigabyte has shown us its newest AORUS Master 18 gaming laptop. This device is one of the first to offer Intel's Arrow Lake-HX mobile CPUs, in particular the Core Ultra 9 275HX model, which is loaded with performance to say the least. The processor features a 24C/24T configuration, and it is way beyond ample for any modern-day workload, to say the least. To back up this CPU powerhouse, Gigabyte has integrated NVIDIA's RTX 5090 laptop GPU, so it is safe to say that the AORUS Master 18 is one of the fastest models out there, competing with the likes of ASUS ROG Strix models and even dominating them. Of course, with such specifications onboard, having the "absolute best" cooling solution becomes necessary, and in this case, Gigabyte has integrated their "WindForce Infinity EX" thermal dissipation system, which comes with a total thermal capacity of 270W, through a vapor chamber design and quad-fan configuration. It also has a 0db "Ambient" mode as well, in case when you don't need extra cooling in low-end workloads, so Gigabyte has thought it out well for the cooling segment. In terms of other features, the AORUS Master 18 debuts with an 18-inch 240Hz "blazing-fast" display, with a 100% DCI-P3 color gamut and an HDR display quality. The laptop is equipped with up to 128 GB DDR5 memory and Gen5 SSD support as well, so there's probably no area where this particular device lags out. So, the AORUS Master 18 is a solid gaming laptop, which is probably one of the best options on the market. Interestingly, there's also an AORUS Master 16 variant, with the only difference being the screen size and battery capacity, making it a more "portable-friendly" model. Moving down the premium segment, Gigabyte showcased their AERO X16 gaming laptop, which is an AMD-dominant Copilot+ device that also features interesting looks. The laptop offers AMD's Strix Point platform, featuring up to AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, which is a flagship-level offering designed to take performance to newer levels. For the GPU, the AERO X16 is equipped with up to NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 5070, so while this device isn't as high-end as the AORUS counterpart, it certainly dominates in its segment. The laptop is equipped with up to 64 GB DDR5-5600 memory and support for multiple Gen4 SSDs. In terms of the onboard display, you get a 16-inch IPS WQXGA panel, with a panel brightness of 400 nits and HDR certification as well. As for connectivity, the Aero X16 features Thunderbolt 4, USB 3.2 Gen2, and Wi-Fi 6E so that you won't face any trouble with interconnecting devices. The AERO X16 has an all-white design and a lightweight aluminum body, making it perfect for carrying around. Lastly comes the budget-friendly Gigabyte Gaming A16 model, which we interestingly managed to get a hands-on experience on at the Computex showfloor. This laptop, touted as an AI-focused machine, features Intel's Core i7-13620H, along with NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 5070 laptop GPU. There's also a configuration with the GeForce RTX 4050 laptop GPU, which is more focused on providing value over performance. For the display, you get a 16-inch IPS panel with a 165Hz refresh rate, 3ms response time, and a 90% screen-to-body ratio, meaning that bezels are almost invisible. The laptop supports up to 64 GB DDR5-5200 memory, with PCIe Gen4 drive options as well. The battery life on the Gaming A16 is said to be phenomenal, giving up to 12 hours according to the manufacturer. Regarding port/connectivity options, the laptop is equipped with USB 3.2 Gen1 (with PD), HDMI 2.1, and Wi-Fi 6E support, so the A16 in no way compromises performance or consumer-oriented features. This year, Gigabyte's core focus was to expand its AI PC options, which is why all of the above laptops come with an integrated GiMATE AI agent, which is a customized LLM model designed to cater to consumer needs. You can carry out tasks through a hotkey button, asking for optimized overclocking or cooling configurations, and even generate images/content through the onboard chatbot. The AI agent is integrated into all of Gigabyte's newer laptops, and it seems like GiMATE AI agent will become the new normal soon. The manufacturer has surely stepped up the game with its newest laptop offerings, and we cannot wait to see the consumer response to them.

GIGABYTE at COMPUTEX 2025: A Whole Lot of AI and a Little Bit of Everything Else
COMPUTEX 2025 is yet to kick-off, and GIGABYTE didn't just show up -- it brought the whole kitchen sink, repainted it white, packed it with AI, and called it LEADING EDGE. From desktop-class supercomputers in shoebox-sized enclosures to AI assistants that help you write code, GIGABYTE's announcements this year weren't just incremental -- they signalled a full-blown pivot into the AI-powered future. Here's everything GIGABYTE had on display. Kicking things off was the AORUS RTX 5090 AI BOX, an external GPU enclosure built for those who want desktop-class GPU muscle on a laptop. Powered by NVIDIA's top-tier RTX 5090 and connected via Thunderbolt 5, this eGPU isn't just for gaming. GIGABYTE is pitching it as an AI companion, ready to chew through creation workflows and machine learning inference tasks. Compared to the previous-gen RTX 4090 Gaming Box, GIGABYTE claims up to 3.1x performance gains. Then there's the AI TOP ATOM -- essentially a miniaturised AI supercomputer for your desk. It runs on the NVIDIA Grace Blackwell GB10 Superchip (also known as DGX SPARK), and it's designed to locally run large AI models, even those with hundreds of billions of parameters. You can fine-tune models with 70B or 200B parameters out of the box, and if you're feeling ambitious, cluster them together to hit 405B. All that, and you still get to keep your data local -- no sending sensitive stuff to the cloud. Hardware's only half the story. GIGABYTE also rolled out AI TOP Utility 4.0, a software suite that makes it easy to run machine learning models on your own devices. It supports image classification, object detection, segmentation, and OCR, and it can handle inference tasks for models with up to 685 billion parameters. There's also a Model Converter, which simplifies deploying those models across different devices -- ideal if you're juggling edge and cloud infrastructure. But perhaps the more accessible innovation is GiMATE. Think of it as your built-in AI assistant on GIGABYTE laptops -- specifically, on the AORUS MASTER, AERO, and GAMING series machines. You can talk to it using "press and speak," use it to enhance your productivity, or lean on the GiMATE Creator to help with content workflows. This year, GiMATE also learned to code. Literally. GiMATE Coder is a new feature designed to help beginners write code using prompt-based commands -- very much in the style of GitHub Copilot, but local and tuned for the GIGABYTE ecosystem. It made its debut on the new GAMING A16 PRO, GAMING A18, and the all-purpose AERO X16 laptops. It's not just PCs getting the AI treatment -- GIGABYTE's new monitor lineup is full of features aimed at giving gamers a tactical edge. These include: There are also other models boasting refresh rates from 200 Hz all the way up to 500 Hz. Whether you're playing competitive shooters or just want everything to feel buttery smooth, GIGABYTE's got something lined up. What's new is how GIGABYTE's AI features are being baked directly into the monitors: things like AI Tactical Features (enhanced visibility), AI-Optimised Visuals (adaptive image tuning), and AI Protection (eye care tech and beyond). It goes without saying that most of these features have existed in monitors for quite some time without any AI involvement. GIGABYTE's X870 X3D motherboards (including MASTER, PRO, and ELITE X3D ICE models) are designed to make overclocking and performance tuning a thing of the past -- because now, AI does it for you. The new X3D Turbo Mode 2 automatically pushes your system up to 35% faster, adapting on the fly depending on what you're doing. No BIOS tweaks, no stress. Over on the Intel side, the Z890 motherboards bring Ultra Turbo Mode, offering up to 38% performance gains. These improvements aren't just theoretical -- they're meant to translate into real-world gains in memory bandwidth, AI workloads, and heavy multitasking. For enthusiasts, the Z890 AORUS TACHYON ICE stood out. It set a world record in memory speed, thanks to AI-assisted overclocking features that tweak everything in real time. For those who enjoy tinkering but also want results, this board delivers both. A big part of GIGABYTE's design push this year comes under the STEALTH ICE branding. This includes: These are aimed at builders who want ultra-clean setups. The reverse-connector layout shifts all the cables to the back of the motherboard tray, helping eliminate visual clutter. Combined with a minimalist white aesthetic, this makes for a very sleek build -- something creators and modders alike will appreciate. What's clear from COMPUTEX 2025 is that GIGABYTE isn't treating AI as a tacked-on feature. It's now core to the design philosophy across its entire portfolio -- from laptops and desktops to software and peripherals. This year's theme, LEADING EDGE, wasn't just marketing fluff. The company is betting big on a future where AI is local, responsive, and integral to how we use our PCs. Whether you're building a gaming rig, deploying edge inference models, or just want a laptop that can help you code, GIGABYTE now has a product that fits the brief -- and does it with style. Computex 2025 is running from Tuesday, May 20 to Friday, May 23, 2025 and Digit will be on ground covering COMPUTEX 2025. Head to Digit's Computex 2025 Hub to see the latest announcements from COMPUTEX as they happen.
