Here's what the Pixel 9 Pro XL looks like next to the Pixel 8 Pro | Digital Trends
A new leak about the upcoming Google Pixel 9 lineup includes a video on YouTube showing the Pixel 8 Pro next to the Pixel 9 Pro XL. The video by Pixophone doesn't reveal anything new about the Pixel 9 Pro XL that we didn't already know. Nonetheless, it's nice to see the handset side by side for what appears to be the first time on video. As you can see in the video, both phones feature the same matte finish on the back and appear very similar in size. However, differences between the two handsets soon become apparent. Recommended Videos The Pixel 9 Pro XL has a flat frame, unlike the curved edges of the Pixel 8 Pro. The cameras are also different; the Pixel 9 Pro XL's camera bar doesn't extend to the edges, and it's a more oval shape. Both phones have rounded corners. The Pixel 9 Pro XL will be unveiled on Tuesday, August 13, at a Made by Google event, along with the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold. The Pixel 9 Pro XL, the first XL version since 2019, is anticipated to have a 6.5-inch display as opposed to the Pixel 9 Pro's 6.1-inch display. Apart from this and the aforementioned design changes, the two Pro phones are expected to have similar features. Both are likely to have primary, ultrawide, and telephoto cameras and incorporate Google Gemini, the company's AI tools, heavily. Recently, we also heard about the Pixel 9 Pro XL, and perhaps the Pixel 9 Pro will have 16GB of RAM. Until now, no Pixel phone has shipped with more than 12GB of RAM. In the past few days, Google has released tease videos for the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro Fold. We have not seen an official video of the regular Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro XL, but perhaps Google will share it soon.

Pixel 9 Pro XL goes head to head with the phone it's replacing in latest leak
Google's Pixel 9 series may come with a year of free Gemini Advanced Summary Google's Pixel 9 series will come in sizes that are reminiscent of past models, but with some confusing twists in naming conventions. A leaker on TikTok provides a visual comparison of Pixel 9 Pro XL with Pixel 8 Pro, confirming similar sizes. The Pixel 9 Pro XL will feature design tweaks like rounded edges and wider buttons, along with potentially 16GB of RAM for AI capabilities. Google's Pixel 9 series is less than a month away, and considering that Google can't prevent information about its lineup from leaking, it has decided to slowly reveal the upcoming devices itself. We know a lot about the upcoming series, like the fact that there will be three regular Pixel 9 models, namely the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and a Pixel 9 Pro XL, alongside the second-gen Pixel Fold, which will be called the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. The tech giant has shared several reasons for upgrading to the upcoming series, and it is clear that AI capabilities will play a major role in helping the device stand out from the crowd. Related Google Pixel 9: News, leaks, rumored price, and release window Google's biggest mobile shakeup since Tensor is almost here The Pixel 3XL was the last Google device to don the XL moniker before Google decided to drop it. Compared to the Pixel 3's 5.5-inch display, the Pixel 3XL featured a much bigger 6.3-inch screen. This time around, with the revival of the XL line, things have gotten a little confusing. Here's a very brief breakdown of sizing without going into inch-perfect details: The Pixel 9 will have a footprint similar to the Pixel 8. The Pixel 9 Pro will be slightly bigger than the Pixel 9 and Pixel 8, but smaller than the Pixel 8 Pro. The Pixel 9 Pro XL will be the same size as the Pixel 8 Pro. Yes, we know, the sizing scheme is delightfully confusing, in a way that only Google could have done it. To put the new sizing into perspective, frequent Pixel 9 series leaker @pixo_unpacking on TikTok has shared a new video that puts the Pixel 9 Pro XL and the Pixel 8 Pro side-by-side. Not many similarities beyond the size In the video shared by Pixo, at roughly the 18-second mark, we can see that the Pixel 9 Pro XL is the same size as the Pixel 8 Pro when placed together, confirming the sizing speculation. Other similarities between the two generations of devices include a matte-black rear in slightly different tones, although it could be the lighting playing a trick on us. Source: @pixo_unpacking The camera alignment also appears to be identical, complete with the rear flash and temperature sensor, albeit with a refreshed camera bar, but if you've read this far, you likely already know that. The video also reveals slight tweaks between the two models, like the Pixel 9 Pro Xl featuring slightly more rounded edges than the Pixel 8 Pro, wider power and volume buttons, and an overall flatter side-rail look. Elsewhere, from what we already know, the phone is speculated to boast 16GB RAM, which should help it efficiently run AI models like Gemini Advanced on-device. Google Pixel 9 Pro Could Have a Much Better Selfie Camera

Google is preparing for upgraded closeups with its upcoming Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL phones. The tech giant is planning to announce upgraded cameras and charging capabilities for its smartphones during its Aug. 13 Pixel hardware event, according to a series of reports last week. Google is reportedly planning to equip its upcoming Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL phone cameras with sensors capable of taking 50-megapixel images, which could mean clearer and better-lit shots, according to reports by Android Authority. Google is planning to upgrade sensors for its rear telephoto and ultrawide cameras, the publication added, in addition to faster charging and sleeker designs. The latest Pixel 9 leaks suggest Google will once again focus on the quality of images its smartphone cameras can take as a key differentiator. The internet giant's cameras have regularly earned high marks when compared to market leaders Apple and Samsung, in part due to the software smarts Google develops specifically for its Pixel line of phones. In May, Google unveiled improvements that allow users to hold live conversations with its artificial intelligence software, including using a mix of the phone's video features and its microphone. Recent leaks suggest the upcoming Google Pixel 9 Pro XL will feature a redesigned camera bar, flatter edges, and potentially improved selfie camera capabilities. The device is expected to launch later this year.
Recent leaks have given tech enthusiasts a glimpse into the future of Google's flagship smartphone line. The upcoming Pixel 9 Pro XL appears to be taking a bold step in terms of design, departing from its predecessors in several key aspects 1.
One of the most noticeable changes is the redesigned camera bar. Unlike the Pixel 8 Pro's prominent, raised camera bar that spans the entire width of the phone, the Pixel 9 Pro XL seems to feature a more compact, oval-shaped camera island. This new design is reminiscent of recent Samsung Galaxy models, potentially signaling a shift in Google's aesthetic philosophy 2.
The Pixel 9 Pro XL is rumored to be slightly taller than its predecessor, the Pixel 8 Pro. However, it appears to be marginally narrower and potentially thinner. This change in dimensions could result in a more comfortable grip for users with smaller hands, while still maintaining a large display for content consumption 1.
Another significant design change is the adoption of flatter edges, moving away from the curved sides seen in previous Pixel models. This shift aligns the Pixel 9 Pro XL more closely with the design language of recent iPhones and some Android competitors 2.
While the rear camera setup appears to maintain a triple-lens configuration, the redesigned camera island suggests potential upgrades to the imaging system. However, the most intriguing camera-related rumor pertains to the front-facing camera 3.
Reports indicate that the Pixel 9 Pro could feature a significantly improved selfie camera. The front-facing camera is rumored to utilize a new Sony IMX712 sensor, which could offer enhanced low-light performance and improved image quality for selfies and video calls 3.
The introduction of the Pixel 9 Pro XL alongside the standard Pixel 9 Pro suggests that Google is expanding its flagship lineup to cater to different user preferences. This strategy mirrors approaches taken by competitors like Apple and Samsung, offering multiple size options within their premium smartphone ranges 1.
While an exact release date has not been confirmed, industry observers expect the Pixel 9 series to launch in the latter half of 2024, following Google's typical annual release cycle for flagship devices 2.
As with all leaks and rumors, it's important to note that details may change before the official release. However, these early glimpses provide an exciting preview of Google's direction for its next-generation Pixel devices, promising significant updates in design and functionality.
