Of course, this included AI upgrades to the Google Workspace suite of applications, which millions of users rely on every day to get their work done, including Google Docs, Meet, Slides, Gmail, and Vids. They embed AI features into the Google apps you already use every day to speed up your daily workflow by performing tedious and time-consuming tasks, such as cleaning out your inbox. Gmail: Gemini can clean your inbox Everyone can relate to being bombarded with emails. Often, these messages are marketing or spam that make it difficult to get to what you really need to read. Now, the new Inbox Cleanup feature lets users simply ask Gemini to clean their inbox. For example, Google shares that you could say, "Delete all of my unread emails from The Groomed Paw from last year," and Gemini would take care of it in seconds. Google Meet AI translation Google is now leveraging AI to support speech translation in Google Meet. As someone is talking, the feature will translate the words into the listener's preferred language in near real time. A unique aspect of the feature is that it also preserves the speaker's voice, tone, and expression. Imagen 4 Google is making its most advanced AI text-to-image generator, Imagen 4, available to users across the Google Workspace apps, including Slides, Vids, Docs, and more. Some advantages include more accurate spelling and text rendering, and more detailed visuals. Google Docs To provide writing assistance that is even more helpful, Google Docs will now have source-grounded writing help. Gemini in Gmail Will Soon Write Responses That Sound Like You

Instead of the existing short replies, Gemini in Gmail will generate more detailed responses by analyzing your previous emails and Google Drive content. Gmail's Smart Replies are going beyond responses like "Will do," "Thank you," and "Apologies." With the help of Gemini, you will soon be able to compose full-fledged email responses that match your tone and context. Called Personalized Smart Replies, the feature will pull information from your previous emails and Google Drive to provide suggestions for your correspondence "with specific details that are more relevant and on point, eliminating the need to dig through your inbox and files yourself," Google says. In a pre-recorded demo, Google CEO Sundar Pichai is seen responding to a friend who asked for tips on a road trip from Colorado to Utah. Before composing the reply, Pichai says, Gemini went through his notes in Drive and previous bookings in Gmail to find an itinerary for his trip to the Zion National Park in Utah. Gemini then used the gathered information, such as drive time and stops taken along the way, and matched it with Pichai's writing style to come up with three detailed responses. He then picked one, modified it, and hit send. Of course, not everyone may be comfortable with Google peeping into their emails and Drive content to mimic their writing style. That probably explains why Pichai began explaining the feature with a special emphasis on "with your permission." Gmail's Personalized Smart Replies will be made available for all Gemini subscribers this summer, Pichai added. There are two other Gemini features coming to Gmail next quarter. An "inbox cleanup" function will let you automate your inbox management. For example, you can just ask Gemini to delete some messages from a contact at regular intervals. There's also a feature that lets you schedule appointments without leaving your draft. You can click on the calendar icon and let Gemini suggest your next available time for an appointment. As you can see in the example below, Gemini's replies can potentially make up the majority of an email when there's plenty of information to draw from. Google is also introducing a new inbox cleanup feature. It will let users tell Gemini to take specific actions using natural language, such as deleting all unread emails from a specific company last year. An appointment scheduling feature is also coming to Gmail. This will let users share their booking pages in Gmail when Gemini detects that someone is organizing a meeting. It'll be interesting to see how popular Gmail's new smart replies prove. People are rarely willing to grant systems full access to their personal data, as Microsoft's Recall nightmare proved, and we know that generative AI still has a bad habit of hallucinating a lot of stuff. The other new features in Vids can automatically remove filler words and unnecessary pauses from recordings, fix uneven audio quality and add AI avatars to videos.
