Nothing's Essential Space can now talk to your Google Calendar
You can also edit AI-generated summaries and share text summaries from your recordings. The Nothing Phone 3a series debuted a so-called Essential Key, which has since been adopted by the Nothing Phone 3. Pressing this button summons the Essential Space app to quickly capture audio notes, photos, and more. Thankfully, this app is getting a welcome update in the wake of the Nothing Phone 3 launch. Nothing announced an Essential Space update on its community forum, and one of the most notable additions is Google Calendar integration. More specifically, to-do items created in Essential Space can now be synchronized to Google Calendar. Essential Space will also let you share text summaries from Essential Recorder with others. These summaries can be sent as an image, a PDF, or markdown text. It doesn't seem quite on par with Google Recorder, which lets you send a link to the full recording and transcript, but it's a neat addition nonetheless. Finally, the Essential Space update lets you edit your Memory (i.e., summaries generated from your notes) and Recorder summaries. These are welcome additions as AI is still far from perfect, so being able to correct text output is essential (heh). Nothing says this Essential Space update is already available for the Nothing Phone 3 and is "coming soon" to the Nothing Phone 3a series. Colleague Ryan Haines noted in his Nothing Phone 3a Pro review that Essential Space was the best new software addition he'd used in a long time. So we're glad that Nothing isn't resting on its laurels and continues to bring more features and options to the app.

Nothing updates Essential Space with Google Calendar integration, improved recorder
Nothing has just announced new updates to Essential Space, its AI-powered hub, which includes support for Google Calendar as well as updates to the new "Flip to Record" feature on Phone (3). In an update shared on the newly-used @Essential Twitter/X account as well as on its community forum, Nothing has revealed the biggest update to Essential Space thus far. The feature, which first debuted on Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Pro, is getting three key updates. Firstly, Essential Space now integrates with Google Calendar. When the AI-powered app generates to-do lists or events, they'll now sync over to Google Calendar. The app lets you pick and choose which accounts are integrated as well. Beyond that, you can now edit what the AI creates. So if the AI creates an event at the wrong time, or mishears something you said, you can go in and manually edit it. Then, there are some updates to recordings. "Essential Recorder" is now live with the ability to record meetings or conversations and get an AI summary later on. This feature supports manual edits as well as sharing, and you can even enable a "Flip-to-Record" feature to have the device start recording when you place it on a surface face down. These updates are live now on Nothing Phone (3), and will come to Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Pro "soon." On Phone (3), you'll want to install the latest update which rolled out earlier this week.

Nothing Updates the Essential Space With 3 Big Improvements
We may earn a commission when you click links to retailers and purchase goods. More info. The Essential Space is one of the bigger software ideas that Nothing has come up with to try and differentiate its most recent phones. While I'm not sure they have quite executed the space in the right way yet, there is time for improvements to do that. Today, Nothing announced that it is pushing an update with 3 pretty big changes that will certainly help it take a step towards being a useful tool. Nothing Essential Space update: For those not familiar, Nothing's Essential Space is a bit like Google's Pixel Screenshots app, in that it wants to help organize your digital life on phone. It does so by capturing screenshots (with all of their info) with a press of the Essential Key at any time, but it can also take audio notes, set reminders or create tasks, and record conversations before providing AI summaries. So far, it does all of that with pretty limited success. The update for today should help some as it adds Google Calendar sync. This allows all of the tasks you create with a set time to be synced to Google Calendars. The Flip-to-Record sessions in Essential Space can be exported as image, PDF, or Markdown and saved locally. And finally, you'll be able to edit titles, summaries, and action items in all of your created items in the Space. Below, you can see how all of this new goodness should look and work.

Nothing has rolled out a major Essential Space update, introducing new tools to boost productivity, personalization, and control across its AI-powered interface. Originally introduced with the Phone (3a) and Phone (3a Pro), Essential Space is designed to help users capture, process, and recall information more efficiently through AI-assisted tools. What's New? Google Calendar integration: You can now sync your to-dos directly with Google Calendar. Tasks and events created by AI will show up automatically in your chosen Google account, making it easier to manage your schedule within Essential Space. Editable Memory: You can now review and edit AI-generated summaries and tasks. If the AI gets a detail wrong -- like a meeting time or task description -- you can manually correct it, improving accuracy and flexibility. Essential Recorder -- now editable: Record meetings, interviews, or conversations with AI-generated summaries and transcripts. A new "Flip-to-Record" feature starts recording automatically when the device is placed face down, offering a discreet way to capture audio. Essential Recorder -- now shareable: Easily share your recordings as images, PDFs, or Markdown files with anyone, anywhere, in just one tap. These updates for Essential Recorder are now live on the Phone (3) and will be rolled out soon for the Phone (3a) and Phone (3a Pro). Updates for Essential Space will be delivered automatically through the Google Play Store.
