Perplexity has launched Perplexity Health
The AI search company launches a suite of health data connectors, linking Apple Health, wearables, and electronic health records, making it the second major AI platform to integrate with Apple Health after OpenAI. Consumer health AI has become the year's fastest-moving product category, and on Thursday Perplexity entered the race properly. The company launched Perplexity Health, a suite of data connectors that pulls together a user's electronic health records, wearable device data, and lab results into a single place, then uses that combined picture to personalise answers to health questions. It is the second major AI platform to integrate with Apple Health, following OpenAI's ChatGPT Health in January 2026. Microsoft launched Copilot Health just one week ago, on 12 March. The architecture of Perplexity Health sits on top of Perplexity Computer, the company's AI agent platform for autonomous tasks. At launch, the product connects to Apple Health on iOS, and to wearables and health apps including Fitbit, Ultrahuman, and Withings via Terra API, a unified health and fitness data platform. Electronic health records are pulled through b.well Connected Health, a HIPAA-compliant platform Perplexity announced as a partner in a simultaneous press release. Integrations with Oura and Function are expected soon. The b.well partnership is the more substantive piece of the infrastructure. According to b.well's own announcement, the company's network connects to more than 2.4 million providers and more than 350 health plans and labs across the United States. Kristen Valdes, Founder and CEO of b.well, described the logic of the partnership simply: AI health questions are already happening at scale; the question is whether the answers are grounded in a person's actual medical history or generic population data. The product's pitch is that health data is structurally fragmented, lab results in one portal, prescriptions in another, fitness data in a third, and that meaningful answers require all of it at once. A question about resting heart rate, for example, could draw on recent activity data, cardiac history, and the most recent bloodwork simultaneously. The personalisable dashboard tracks trends in biomarkers and activity over time, and Perplexity Computer can use the connected data to generate outputs including pre-appointment visit summaries, personalised nutrition plans, and marathon training protocols. Responses draw from clinical guidelines and peer-reviewed journals, with citations linked to source material. To manage the obvious clinical risk of this category, Perplexity is launching alongside a Health Advisory Board of physicians, researchers, and health technology leaders, whose stated role is to pressure-test product decisions, content quality, and clinical safeguards against evidence-based medicine standards. The company is explicit that Perplexity Health is not a diagnostic tool: it is positioned as educational health information that helps users understand their data and prepare for conversations with clinicians, not as a substitute for professional medical advice. On privacy, the company states that health data is encrypted in transit and at rest, subject to strict access controls, never used to train AI models, and never sold to third parties. Users can disconnect any data source or delete their information at any time. The framing mirrors similar pledges from OpenAI and Microsoft for their respective health products, though independent scrutiny of any of these claims remains limited. A Washington Post investigation earlier this year found that ChatGPT was liable to report health information not supported by the data it was given, a baseline problem that no amount of data connectivity resolves if the underlying model is unreliable. Perplexity Health is rolling out to Pro and Max subscribers in the United States over the coming weeks, initially on iOS and on the web at perplexity.ai/health. Broader availability across other subscriber tiers and geographies is expected in time. The product follows Perplexity Finance, which used Plaid to give users connected brokerage account access, as a second major vertical built around the same Perplexity Computer infrastructure.

Apple Health integrates with newly announced 'Perplexity Health' AI feature - 9to5Mac
Following yesterday's Comet iOS browser release, Perplexity is back with another AI announcement: Perplexity Health. The new "suite of connectors" includes integration with Apple Health, Perplexity says. The company announced Perplexity Health, an expansion of its "Computer" AI agent tool, in a blog post: Today we are launching Perplexity Health, a suite of connectors to your personal health data that allows for powerful personal uses of Perplexity Computer, providing accurate health information for the most important questions. The announcement goes on to say that Perplexity Health will connect to the Apple Health app on iPhone and iPad: We are launching with connectors for Apple Health, electronic health records from over 1.7 million care providers, and platforms including Fitbit, Ultrahuman, Withings, Clue, and many more. Integrations with ÅŒURA, Function, and others are expected soon. Perplexity Health tracks metrics and trends over time across biomarkers and activity data through a personalized dashboard. Ask a health question and the answer draws from your medical records, lab results, and wearable data at once. A question about resting heart rate, for example, can factor in your recent activity, your cardiac history, and your latest bloodwork. In terms of privacy, Perplexity says health data will remain protected through encryption, while pointing users to its privacy policy here: Health data on Perplexity is protected with encryption in transit and at rest, with strict access controls, and tools to manage or delete information at any time. Health data sources such as electronic health records or wearables can be disconnected, and information is never used to train AI models or sold to third parties. Read more in our privacy policy. Perplexity isn't the first AI firm to connect to Apple Health. In January, OpenAI announced ChatGPT Health which similarly connects to Apple Health. However, OpenAI's health product hasn't received great reviews. Perplexity is slowly releasing its version, starting with Pro and Max subscribers in the United States.

Perplexity Can Now Access Your Apple Health Data to Answer Medical Questions
AI company Perplexity today introduced Perplexity Health, a suite of connectors that allow Perplexity to access your health data. Perplexity suggests that the feature is useful for aggregating health data from across different portals, apps, and devices. It is able to track metrics and trends over time across biomarkers, with information shown on a personalized dashboard. When asked a health-related question, Perplexity Health can answer based on medical records, lab results, and wearable data. With Perplexity Computer (Perplexity's AI agent tool), AI agents can use health information to build personalized fitness plans, nutrition plans, and more. Perplexity Health on Computer is rolling out to Pro and Max users in the U.S. first. Perplexity says that Perplexity Health draws from "premium medical literature" like clinical guidelines and peer-reviewed journals. Perplexity has established a Perplexity Health Advisory Board with physicians, researchers, and health tech experts who will "pressure-test" product decisions, content quality, and clinical safeguards against evidence-based medicine standards. Perplexity Health is able to connect to Apple Health, so it can integrate data collected by the Apple Watch and added to the Apple Health app. It also supports Fitbit, Ultrahuman, and Withings, along with electronic health records from more than 1.7 million care providers. Oura and Function integrations are coming soon. Health data is encrypted, and Perplexity says there are strict access controls and tools to manage or delete information at any time. Health information is not used to train AI models or sold to third parties. Perplexity is the second AI company to integrate with Apple Health. OpenAI introduced a ChatGPT Health feature with Apple Health support in early 2026.

Perplexity unveils Perplexity Health, an AI tool to transform your scattered medical data into health insights
It's like giving your medical history a search engine of its own. It appears that the next frontier for AI services is health. Recently, Microsoft launched its Copilot Health, a service that ingests your health data from various sources to generate actionable insights. Now Perplexity has launched Perplexity Health, a suite of connectors that links your personal health data directly to Perplexity Computer, providing answers that are truly about you. What makes Perplexity Health different from a regular AI health search? Right now, your health data is fragmented across multiple platforms. Lab results are stored in one portal, prescriptions in another, and fitness data is buried in a separate app. Perplexity Health brings everything together in one place, unlocking insights that would otherwise remain hidden. At launch, it connects with Apple Health, electronic health records from over 1.7 million care providers, and platforms including Fitbit, Ultrahuman, and Withings, with Oura and Function coming soon. Recommended Videos When you ask a question about your health, it cross-references data from your activity trackers, lab reports, and medical history to provide a detailed, personalized answer. "A question about resting heart rate, for example, can factor in your recent activity, your cardiac history, and your latest bloodwork," the press release reads. It will also create a personalized dashboard that tracks your biomarkers and activity trends over time, so you always have a view of the full picture. Can you trust the answers it gives you? As stated in the press release, answers in Perplexity Health draw from clinical guidelines and peer-reviewed journals, rather than SEO-optimized content written to rank on Google. It further says that "Each response includes citations linked directly to the source material so you can read what the answer is based on." Perplexity has also established a Health Advisory Board composed of physicians, researchers, and health technology leaders to guide product decisions and uphold clinical standards. Regarding data privacy, Perplexity promises that it is encrypted in transit and at rest, never used to train AI models, and never sold to third parties. You can disconnect any source or delete your information at any time. Personally, I would wait a few months to see how things play out before giving any AI service access to my health records. However, if you want to try it now, Perplexity Health on Computer will roll out to Pro and Max users in the US over the coming weeks.

Amazon, Perplexity and OpenAI Compete to Own the First Click in Healthcare | PYMNTS.com
By completing this form, you agree to receive marketing communications from PYMNTS and to the sharing of your information with our sponsor, if applicable, in accordance with our Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions. The same week, lab testing company Function announced a connector that lets its members pipe lab results and clinician-reviewed summaries directly into Perplexity Health. Those moves follow OpenAI's ChatGPT Health and Microsoft's Copilot Health on March 12, bringing the number of major AI platforms with dedicated consumer health products to five in under three months. In the U.S., 3 in 5 adults used AI tools for health purposes in the past three months. About 70% of AI health conversations occur outside clinic hours, and roughly 1.6 million to 1.9 million messages per week on ChatGPT focus on health insurance questions, according to PYMNTS coverage. The platforms responding to that demand are not building the same product. They are building different layers of the same stack. Amazon builds vertically. Its Health AI agent does not hand users off to another system. It handles the question, the appointment, the prescription and the specialist referral inside one product, connected to one provider network. Health AI answers health questions, explains lab results and medical records, manages prescription renewals and connects users to One Medical providers through message, video or face-to-face visits. The system runs on Amazon Bedrock as a multi-agent architecture: A core agent handles patient communication, sub-agents oversee specific tasks, auditor agents review conversations in real time, and sentinel agents escalate to human providers when needed. Prescriptions are routed to Amazon Pharmacy or any pharmacy of the user's choice. One Medical maintains clinical partnerships with Rush University System for Health and Cleveland Clinic for specialist referrals, with Health AI routing patients across those networks. Perplexity builds horizontally. Perplexity Health does not tie users to a specific provider network. It pulls data from across fragmented health data and surfaces answers from it all at once. Perplexity Health launches with connectors for Apple Health, electronic health records from more than 1.7 million care providers, and wearable platforms including Fitbit, Ultrahuman and Withings. A question about resting heart rate draws on that user's cardiac history, recent bloodwork, and activity logs. Answers draw from clinical guidelines and peer-reviewed journals, with each response connected directly to source material. Health data is encrypted in transit and at rest, is not used to train AI models and is not sold to third parties. The product is available to Pro and Max subscribers in the U.S. on iOS and at perplexity.ai/health. Function is a company that provides lab testing and clinician-reviewed biomarker insights. It announced a partnership with Perplexity Health to integrate this data into the AI system, with CEO Jonathan Swerdlin noting, "AI is most powerful when it's personal," as the collaboration helps turn fragmented health data into useful insights. OpenAI established the category in January with ChatGPT Health as reported by PYMNTS. The usage numbers behind the launch explain the competitive urgency. More than 230 million people globally ask health and wellness questions on ChatGPT every week, according to TechCrunch. Among U.S. adults who used AI for health in the past three months, 55% used it to check symptoms, 48% to understand medical terms and 44% to learn about treatment options, according to OpenAI. As PYMNTS covered, AI agents in healthcare are moving from pilots to live deployments across patient engagement, care coordination, clinical documentation and chronic care management. Amazon operates a vertically integrated model, combining its AI, provider network, pharmacy and billing into a single system. Perplexity takes a horizontal approach, offering one interface that sits across providers, wearables and labs. While OpenAI brings the largest distribution channel, with 230 million weekly health users and a multiyear lead in clinical model development. Each approach is distinct, but together they point to a consumer healthcare system where AI becomes the first point of interaction before any clinician is involved.
