Samsung One UI 7 Will Arrive Next Month With Smarter AI
Samsung is bringing its AI-driven One UI 7 interface to Galaxy phones and tablets next month. The new mobile software for Android will be available starting April 7 on various devices -- beginning with the Galaxy S24 series, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 -- then will expand to more phones and tablets, the company said Tuesday. One UI 7 introduces a new design and interface built specifically for artificial intelligence, promising more personalization and control. The move comes as tech companies work to integrate more AI tools into mobile devices by trying to turn them into smarter personal assistants that help you complete everyday tasks. One UI 7 features redesigned widgets and a lock screen with a "Now Bar" that provides real-time updates. On the AI side, a tool called AI Select helps make recommendations by understanding context and offering smart suggestions. For example, if you're watching a video, you can tap the "AI Select" icon and turn part of the video into a GIF. A feature called Writing Assist allows you to draft or summarize text, while Drawing Assist transforms text prompts and sketches into visuals. Audio Eraser isolates different types of sounds by removing unwanted noise from videos. Google's AI model Gemini also can be activated by long-pressing the side button on a mobile device, allowing you to ask for specific information -- such as detailing the kind of restaurant you want to go to -- and receive real-time recommendations. Ramon Llamas, an analyst with market research firm IDC, said the new UI 7 highlights convenience, by eliminating numerous steps to complete certain tasks, and also adds more context. "UI 7 saves time, effort, steps and ultimately gets the users to where they want to be: done," Llamas said. "AI also has to understand context and user history in order to offer useful suggestions. That's going to take some time. "It's one thing to understand language with LLMs, but can it understand tone and intention the way that I want it?" he said. "Let's see what happens."

Samsung's One UI 7 is arriving on April 7
It will initially be available for the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 devices. Samsung device owners will start getting notifications to install One UI 7 on April 7. The company will roll out its new interface gradually, starting with the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 devices before making it available on its other smartphones and tablets. Samsung says the new interface was built specifically for AI and will help users interact with their devices more naturally. The new Now Bar will provide users with real-time updates on the lock screen, such as what song is playing on their earbuds, without having to unlock their phones or tablets. One UI 7 comes with a number of Galaxy AI features, including AI Select that lets users interact with parts of their screen. It will allow them to copy text by drawing a circle on an element on the screen or to easily create a GIF of a video they're watching. There's Writing Assist that can automatically summarize or format text the user highlights and Drawing Assist the creates illustrations based on text prompts, rough sketches or images. Audio Eraser will make it easier to isolate sounds and remove unwanted noise from videos. In addition to AI features, the One UI 7 comes with a bunch of security features, including a theft protection tool called Identity Check. It will force the user to prove their identity if their PIN gets compromised. In settings, users will also be able to block USB connections to prevent access through the USB port while the device is locked, except for battery charging.

One UI 7's US rollout is back on track
Will your Galaxy phone get the One UI 7 update? All the eligible handsets Summary Samsung confirms One UI 7 rollout in the US starting April 10 for the Galaxy S24 series, Z Fold 6, and Z Flip 6. The new features include a Now Bar for real-time updates and AI tools like AI Select and Writing Assist. The rollout will expand to more devices in the weeks following April 10, including the Galaxy S23 series and the Tab S10 and Tab S9 series. The wait is finally over. Samsung has confirmed One UI 7 is coming to the United States, and soon. This follows several weeks of confusion after Samsung originally scheduled One UI 7 to roll out globally on April 7, but then removed the rollout date for US devices. The Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and the Galaxy Z Flip 6 will be the first devices to receive the update. Here is what's new in One UI 7 Samsung says this is its most ambitious software update yet, although realistically it looks more like how iOS would look if it were actually any good (and had a functioning AI). Nevertheless, there are a few refreshed aesthetic touches in the software, including changes to the home screen, lock screen, and widgets. A key feature is the Now Bar, which delivers real-time updates directly on the lock screen. No need to unlock the phone. There are several Galaxy AI tools under the hood, as well. These include: AI Select: makes context-aware suggestions for media content. Writing Assist: formats and summarizes text. Drawing Assist: creative input using sketches or images. There's also deep integration with Google Gemini, so users can control their device using natural language. See? It's like iOS, but it's actually useful. Samsung Galaxy Android 15 (One UI 7) Updates Start on April 7th
Here's How to Ensure a Smooth Switch from Samsung Messages to Google Messages Samsung is finally ready to deliver the highly anticipated Android 15 (One UI 7) update to its Galaxy phones and tablets. After countless delays, today, the company finally confirmed that updates will begin on April 7th and shared a list of which devices will get it first. Samsung Galaxy Android 15 Update Is About to Start Samsung, which delayed the Android 15 update longer than any other Android release in recent memory, has announced that its One UI 7 software will start rolling out to devices on April 7th. The first phones to receive this new interface with "AI-driven enhancements" will be the Galaxy S24 series and the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6, followed by several other popular models. As a reminder, Google announced Android 15 back in February 2024 and released the update in October. Typically, Samsung would have beta-tested over the summer and released the latest software for its devices around November-December. This time around, that didn't happen. Instead, we've faced multiple delays and only a few short and limited beta tests. Earlier this month, Samsung finally revealed it was ready to expand the beta and told users to expect Galaxy updates sometime in April. Now, we know those will officially kick off on April 7th. It's finally happening. Related Samsung Rolls Out the Android 15 Beta to More Galaxy Phones and Tablets Better late than never. Posts Then, late last week, Samsung added multiple phones to the Android 15 (One UI 7) beta program and updated a few neat new aspects of One UI 7, signaling things were finally on track. Those included the Galaxy S23, S23+, and S23 Ultra, the Galaxy Tab S10, and both of Samsung's latest folding phones. So, starting on April 7th and in the weeks that follow, Android 15 will be available on Galaxy S24 series smartphones, the Galaxy S24 FE, and the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6. The rollout will then continue on the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Z Fold and Flip 5, and the Galaxy Tab S10 and Tab S9 series. Keep in mind that updates will vary by region and model, so just because Samsung said April 7th doesn't necessarily mean your AT&T Galaxy S24 Ultra will get it on that exact date. In fact, US carriers are typically a week or two behind international models, but we'll have to wait and see. Either way, the update is finally set to arrive, and it'll be here before you know it. What's New in One UI 7? The One UI 7 update, based on Android 15, offers a combination of new features from Google and countless changes by the developer teams at Samsung. Naturally, we have a ton of "AI-driven enhancements" that are useful, along with a few gimmicks. During its announcement, Samsung noted the simplified home screen, revamped widgets and lock screen controls, and the new Now Brief and Now Bar, one of my favorite features. You'll enjoy a slew of AI-powered features for tweaking photos and videos, AI Select, Writing Assist, Drawing Assist, Audio Eraser, deep Google Gemini integration, and much more. Related Google Should Copy These Features from Samsung's One UI 7 Take notes, Google! Posts 3 Users will first notice how customizable the lock screen is, changes to the app drawer, and an upgraded notification shade and quick settings pulldown bar. Samsung also tweaked how notifications work, which now operates similarly to iOS. I'm not a fan, but luckily you can change it back to the old design like I did on my Galaxy S25. Other changes include a battery protection mode, a refreshed camera app with minor tweaks to improve usability, especially with one hand, and more. Overall, One UI 7 gives phones a modern and clean look with updated visuals, more customizability, a powerful lock screen, and a slew of Galaxy AI goodies to make daily tasks more meaningful and intuitive. I'm enjoying One UI 7 on my Galaxy S25+, and you'll have it on your older Samsung Galaxy soon enough. Source: Samsung

One UI 7 finally gets a stable release from Samsung -- here's when it's coming to your phone
After a number of delays, Samsung finally has a date in mind for One UI 7 -- the operating system update based on Android 15 -- to roll out to its older handsets. In a press release published on the Samsung newsroom, the company revealed the update will begin distribution on April 7 to Galaxy S24, Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 handsets, with other phones and tablets to follow. A timeline for the other devices isn't provided, but Samsung does at least namecheck a few that will be next in line. Owners of the following devices can all expect the one UI 7 update soon: Galaxy S21 and S22 handsets should also be eligible, given Samsung's pledge of four years of platform updates, but they're not listed here, and the slow rollout so far doesn't inspire confidence that it'll be any time soon. As well as introducing features introduced by Google in Android 15, the One UI update adds some additional Samsung extras. The update brings a "simplified home screen" and "redesigned One UI widgets", as well as introducing the Now Bar to provide "real-time updates that matter most right on the lock screen". More importantly, the update will bring some AI updates that were hitherto exclusive to the flagship Galaxy S25 series. Writing Assist lets you summarize or format contents of text, Drawing Assist lets you instantly generate images based on text or your own sketches, while Audio Eraser isolates and removes unwanted noise from videos. All of these have footnotes on them with caveats about performance and availability, but they all appear to be supported by the first batch of devices at least. It has been a long road getting here, with work on One UI 7 reportedly starting in May last year. Android 15 has been on Google Pixel phones since October 15, but even before then there were rumors of delays on Samsung's end with its One UI 7 implementation. Though a beta for S24 devices arrived in December, a full stable release was eventually kicked into 2025. One UI 7 launched on Galaxy S25 devices in February, but there was still no sign of a stable release for the company's older phones. By the time April 7 rolls around, it will be 174 days between the arrival of Android 15 on the Google Pixel 8 and One UI 7 showing up on the Samsung Galaxy S24. As Android Authority wrote last month, this is a reminder of the bad old days of Samsung, when devices took months to catch up with the hot new versions of Android. Indeed, the site highlights Android 2.3, which launched on December 6 2010 but didn't arrive on Samsung devices until May 16 2011. That's a total of 161 days -- 13 days less than the gap between Android 15 arriving on Pixel phones and One UI 7's delayed April 7 rollout. Hopefully One UI 8 will put Samsung back on track.

Samsung Announces Official Rollout of One UI 7 Starting From April 7
New user interface brings AI-driven enhancements that make everyday interactions more meaningful and intuitive Samsung Electronics today announced that the official rollout of One UI 7 will start April 7, bringing a bold new design for greater personalization and control to the user experience. One UI 7 introduces new interface built for AI, helping users interact with their Galaxy devices more naturally than ever before. The update will be available starting with the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6, gradually rolling out to more Galaxy smartphones and tablets. One UI 7 comes with a simple, impactful and emotive design, bringing streamlined and cohesive experience to Galaxy users. A simplified home screen, redesigned One UI widgets and lock screen allow users to intuitively and seamlessly customize their devices. For added convenience, Now Bar provides real-time updates that matter most right on the lock screen. So during a morning run, users can easily check their progress and see what song is playing in your Galaxy Buds -- all with a simple swipe, without unlocking their phone. One UI 7 introduces seamless AI-driven experiences that help users to stay productive and explore their creativity. With Galaxy AI, users can simplify everyday tasks, minimizing the need to switch between applications. AI Select intuitively recommends by understanding context. For example, a user can simple swipe the Edge Panel and click 'AI Select' icon when watching a video to save it as a GIF file. Writing Assist allows users to easily summarize or automatically format contents in which texts can be selected. One UI 7 also enables simple edits to give users more creative control and freedom. Drawing Assist helps bring ideas to life with more than a single input, including combinations of text prompts and images or sketches. Audio Eraser makes advanced editing accessible for all, by isolating categories of sounds and removing unwanted noise in videos. With deeper Google Gemini integration, controlling the device is as easy as speaking to a friend. Long-press the side button and say, "Find Italian, pet-friendly restaurants with outdoor seating nearby." Gemini instantly pulls up recommendations in one seamless interaction. Natural language search extends to Settings, making it easier to adjust preferences. Users can simply go into Settings and say "My eyes are feeling tired." In an instant, recommended options such as adjusting brightness or turning on Eye comfort shield appear. One UI 7 will begin rolling out on April 7, expanding to more Galaxy smartphones and tablets in the following weeks, including the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy S24 FE, the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6, Galaxy Z Fold5 and Z Flip5, the Galaxy Tab S10 series and the Galaxy Tab S9 series.

Samsung One UI 7 set to release soon. Everything we know.
If you have an old(er) Samsung Galaxy device, your next big software update is just a couple of weeks away. Samsung confirmed on its website this week that the big One UI 7 update will start rolling out to pre-Galaxy S25 generations of smart devices on April 7. One thing to note is that the U.S. rollout is set for April 10, so if you're in the States and don't get the update on April 7, you know why. The rollout will hit Galaxy S24 devices, along with Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6 to start, with older Samsung devices getting it later. As for what One UI 7 will actually bring to those devices, it seems like it's mostly intended to bring them up to speed with the Galaxy S25 series. The home screen and lock screen have been streamlined a bit, but the biggest additions are in the realm of AI features. After installing it, Google Gemini will become your phone's default voice assistant, and you'll be able to ask it to perform multi-app actions, just like Galaxy S25 owners have been able to since that phone launched a couple of months ago. Other new features include AI Select, which allows you to draw a circle around something on screen and perform context-sensitive actions, such as turning a video into a GIF. Writing Assist will clean up your text messages, Drawing Assist can create images using text prompts, and Audio Eraser can cut out annoying background noise from videos you've shot. None of this is strictly new, but if you don't have a Galaxy S25, it'll be new to you. That counts for something.

Samsung announces One UI 7 is coming to older phones after all, but the launch is still a mess
The Galaxy S21 series is about to be replaced. (Image credit: Samsung) Earlier this week we celebrated the news that Samsung's One UI 7 update finally has a release date for older devices as the company marked April 7 as the day it would begin rolling out to Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Flip 6, and Galaxy Z Fold 6 devices. This news wasn't well received by users of older handsets, unfortunately, but now they too could have a reason to get excited. Samsung had already teased that the update would steadily roll out beyond 2024's flagships to older and less powerful devices including the Galaxy S24 FE, the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5, the Galaxy Tab S10 series and the Galaxy Tab S9 series, but now it seems even older phones will also get One UI 7. At least that's what Samsung's Singapore team believes as its announcement also lists: Galaxy S22 Series, Galaxy S21 Series, Galaxy S21 FE, Galaxy Z Fold4, Galaxy Z Flip4, Galaxy Z Fold3, and Galaxy Z Flip3 devices as being eligible. However, these older handsets will seemingly have to wait a little longer as the blog post tips April 14 as One UI 7's launch date - a week later than its initial rollout. There's seemingly no reason why Singapore's phones would get the update and not the same devices in other parts of the world, so we expect OneUI 7 will be hitting Galaxy S22 and S21 phones next month in the US, UK, and Australia too. However, don't expect the update to include the same features on every device. Older handsets lack the hardware power to perform several AI tasks. Writing Assist and Drawing Assist will come to handsets as old as the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Z Fold 5, Z Flip 5, and Galaxy Tab S9, while Audio Eraser will skip these older phones and only come to the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Flip 6, and Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy S24 FE and Galaxy Tab S10 series. Is it confusing? Yes. Unfortunately, on-device AI necessitates performance levels that older devices can't achieve. The only way to secure these new features for yourself will be to snag a newer Samsung smartphone - and to help with that you can check out today's best Samsung Galaxy S25 deals.

Some might be waiting a little bit longer for Samsung's One UI 7 update
Samsung is expected to release its highly anticipated One UI 7 update worldwide starting the week of April 7. However, there has been some debate about the exact timing and locations of the rollout. A new development has added to the confusion regarding the specific release dates. According to SamMobile, Samsung has quietly pulled the One UI 7 launch date in the U.S. from its news portal. Subsequently, it also changed the language on its Australia Newsroom portal and perhaps others. Instead, it says the official rollout "will start from April." At least for now, exact dates remain for news portals for South Korea, Canada, Norway, Sweden, Malaysia, Singapore, Belgium, and the Netherlands. Recommended Videos What's happening here? Samsung hasn't provided any details, and the decision to stop publishing exact dates on some of its websites in some regions doesn't necessarily indicate a delay for the One UI 7 update. Perhaps, for example, Samsung may implement a gradual rollout, potentially beginning with smaller countries. Please enable Javascript to view this content On a more optimistic note, this could also mean the update will arrive sooner than expected. After all, Samsung's U.S. portal now says the update is rolling out at the "beginning this April." Regardless, this news is a bit unexpected. Earlier this week, we reported that Samsung had expanded the list of devices getting the update. That was celebrated for being good news, especially for folks with older devices. The One UI 7 came pre-installed on the Galaxy S25 series. This followed months of headlines that documented unexpected delays for the software, which is built on top of Android 15. Samsung's latest user interface brings significant enhancements to Galaxy devices, with a strong focus on AI integration and personalized experiences. Key features include a redesigned interface with a simplified home screen, improved widgets, and a customizable lock screen. The "Now Bar" on the lock screen provides real-time updates from various apps, allowing users to access information conveniently without unlocking their devices. The update also deeply integrates Galaxy AI, enabling more intuitive interactions and streamlined tasks. Features such as "AI Select," "Writing Assist," "Drawing Assist," and "Audio Eraser" leverage AI to boost productivity and creativity. Additionally, the improved integration with Google Gemini allows for natural language control, making it easier for users to search within Settings and adjust preferences. One UI 7 also prioritizes security and privacy in the age of AI, offering users greater transparency and control over their data. As a heavy iPhone user, I often find the fragmentation of Android update releases quite surprising. Updates are rolled out at different times depending on the manufacturer and the device. This is particularly evident with Samsung, which customizes each Android release for its own devices, which adds even more time to the process. The latest news clearly shows that One UI 7 is on the way, with rollouts expected to begin in April. However, it's uncertain when exactly your specific device will receive the update.

Samsung sets the date for wide release of One UI 7 update
The wait for Android 15 on Samsung smartphones will finally be over early next month. Samsung has announced that the highly-anticipated One UI 7 update will be released widely via the stable channel starting April 7 for Galaxy smartphone users. In the first wave of rollout, the Galaxy S24 series phones, alongside Samsung's current generation foldable -- Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 -- will be covered. It will eventually expand to older flagships, alongside a bunch of mid-range phones in the Galaxy A-series, as well. Recommended Videos In the coming weeks, One UI 7 will also land on the Galaxy S24 FE, Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Z Fold 5, and Galaxy Z Flip 5 phones. On the tablet side, the Galaxy Tab S10 will be the early recipient, followed by the Galaxy Tab S9 series. A Guided Demo of Galaxy AI | Galaxy S25 Series | Samsung Samsung kicked off the beta-testing program in December last year, and in the past few weeks, the pool of devices has steadily expanded. One UI 7 brings a fresh design language to the phone, with a cleaner Home Screen, improved widgets, and more intuitive lock screen. Please enable Javascript to view this content Leading the list of new features is the new Now Bar, which tracks important events and keeps users updated via a dedicated widget, right on the Lock Screen. AI is a huge part of the One UI 7 experience, riding under the Galaxy AI banner. Among them is a feature called AI Select, which is aware of the on-screen content, and based on what users highlight, it will offer actionable buttons. Galaxy AI | Now Brief | Galaxy S25 Ultra | Samsung For example, if there's a ticket in the camera view, AI select can automatically surface one-tap controls such as adding it to the Calendar or showing the venue on Google Maps. Then there's Writing Assist, which offers a handful of AI-powered facilities such as rewriting, summarization, and proofreading, working in the same vein as Writing Tools on Apple devices. However, do keep in mind that not all One UI 7 features will be available across every compatible device. For example, the audio eraser feature, which can selectively erase noise from videos, will not go beyond phones older than the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Tab S10 duo, or the sixth-generation Samsung foldable phones. Similar is the situation with natural language search in the Settings app.

Samsung's April update brings S25 features, new UI and more to older phones
TL;DR: Samsung's One UI 7 update, starting April 7, will bring features from the Galaxy S25 to older devices, including a refreshed design, AI tools like Now Bar, Galaxy AI, and Google Gemini integration for enhanced user experience. Some features remain exclusive to the S25, with the rollout beginning on select models. As announced in a recent press release, Samsung will be rolling out its One UI 7 update from April 7, introducing a range of features to older devices-previously only available on the Galaxy S25 series. Credit: Samsung Among the new features is a refreshed design and layout. With what Samsung describes as a "streamlined, emotive" design, users will see an updated home screen, lock screen, and redesigned One UI widgets, bringing a fresh look to older Galaxy devices. Now Bar, one of the AI-powered features introduced with the S25, will also be made available on select devices - allowing users to get real-time updates on the lock screen for select apps. Galaxy AI features will also receive an expansion, bringing tools like AI Select, Writing Assist, and Audio Eraser. AI Select can recognize on-screen content and suggest actions, while Writing Assist can summarize or auto-format text. Audio Eraser, meanwhile, allows users to remove unwanted background noise from videos by isolating different sound types. Google Gemini integration is another key feature of the update, offering more natural AI interactions. Users can now issue complex voice commands, such as finding specific restaurants or adjusting phone settings via Natural Language Search. Samsung is positioning this as a step towards a more intuitive, hands-free user experience. Beyond a visual refresh, One UI 7 signals Samsung's deeper push into AI.
