Samsung's already beting big on AI, and judging from what we've seen of the One UI 7 beta that's not going to slow down anytime soon. The question is what sort of extra AI is on the way in One UI 7 and Galaxy S25? According to one rumor we could see Samsung copy one of the best AI features from Google's Pixel series. According to Ice Universe over on Weibo, Samsung is working on a version of Google's Audio Magic Eraser -- and will be coming in the "next version" of One UI 7. Whether that means the next beta, or the final version that' sounds like it's launching alongside Galaxy S25 in January, isn't entirely clear. Ice Universe even posted a screenshot that seems to have come from a Samsung phone, with a description that sounds exactly like a version of Audio Magic Eraser. According to Google Translate the feature is called "Audio Eraser", with the English description claiming that it will "eliminate distracting noise in videos" -- reducing the volume of voices, wind and other things. As you can see in the image, it also shows a number of volume bars. It's possible this may give users finer control over the sound in their videos, allowing them to restrict certain sounds, while only subtly altering others. Presumably, like Google's version, this feature will also offer automatic sound adjustment, based on what the AI thinks will sound best for the video in question. We don't know very much about how Samsung's Audio Eraser will work, or how different it might be to the one currently available on Pixel 9 Pro. That upgraded version of Audio Magic Eraser lets you differentiate between different voices, and choose which ones can be heard or muted. Considering Google and Samsung have partnered on AI in the past, such as debuting Circle to Search on Galaxy S24, it's possible that there could be some collaboration here. Then again that collaboration might not extend to certain things, like Audio Eraser. We'll just have to wait and see what happens when the feature arrives. One UI 7 beta is available to install on Galaxy S24 devices, provided you're a member of the One UI beta program. The Samsung Galaxy S25 is expected to launch at a Galaxy Unpacked event on January 23, and no doubt we'll be hearing a lot more about the final version of One UI 7 at the same time.

We've seen a barrage of AI tools and features arrive on our phones this year, with one of the coolest being an upgrade to a standout Pixel 8 feature, Audio Magic Eraser, debuting on the Google Pixel 9 - and now it seems that Samsung wants to copy Google's homework. Audio Magic Eraser is an AI tool which, as the name suggests, is an audio version of Google's Magic Eraser for photos. Instead of removing or moving elements of your picture, you can instead adjust the audio composition of a recorded video by modulating the volume of speech from different subjects, wind noise, and background noise. Now prolific Samsung leaker Ice Universe has posted to Weibo (spotted by Android Authority, and translated from Chinese) saying that the next version of One UI 7 will include Samsung's version of Google's Audio Eraser - sharing a screenshot which shows how you can adjust the audio of a video shot at a concert. As with all leaks we should take this one with a pinch of salt, not least because Ice Universe doesn't share precisely where their knowledge and access to the feature comes from, explaining in their post that there's "No need to look for it in Beta1, it's not there. Only I have it." Though if Audio Eraser is indeed on the way, the big question is when will we get the next version of Samsung's One UI? Ideally the Audio Magic Eraser would drop when the Samsung Galaxy S25 flagships debut early next year, with rumors and Samsung's traditional release schedule suggesting a launch in January. However, as has been the case with phone releases, it's possible that new tools will first be S25-exclusive before making their way to older compatible devices - so those of you rocking a Samsung Galaxy S24 or Galaxy Z Flip 6 might need to hold out for Samsung's Audio Eraser appear on your device. Beyond an AI Audio Editor, leaks tease a few other updates for the soon-to-launch phones: the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra could instead launch as the Samsung Galaxy S25 Note, the new phones might each use a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, and the base S25 model could have 12GB of RAM to facilitate more and better onboard AI features. The graphic hints at sliders for adjusting the crowd and music noise too. Further, it says that the feature uses Galaxy AI to function. While still unconfirmed, Samsung's Audio Eraser feature appears to work along the same lines as the Audio Magic Eraser on Google Pixel smartphones. It can block unwanted noise, such as cars honking or crowd chatting, from audio and video clips. One UI 7 introduces visual enhancements with extensive customisation options, a new notification system called Now Bar, redesigned One UI widgets, and additions to Galaxy AI. The AI suite gets new advanced writing tools integrated into the OS. This is claimed to eliminate the need for switching apps when selecting the text. Users can carry out grammar and spell checks, change the writing tone, summarise, or create bulleted lists -- functionality similar to Apple Intelligence. There is also a Call Transcripts feature with support for 20 languages. It is claimed to work automatically for recorded conversations, as per Samsung.
