Samsung's Galaxy AI reportedly getting notification summary feature in One UI 7
A notificiation summary serves as a convenient way to save a little time while looking at the alerts that have piled up on your phone. Samsung Galaxy phones are seemingly going to get a new Galaxy AI feature that summarizes recent notifications. We've seen bits of notification summary features appear on widely available devices, like the iPhone with Apple Intelligence in iOS 18. The feature is useful, as it showcases the highlights in a slew of notifications. According to trusted leaker @chunvn8888, Galaxy phones with Galaxy AI will get a notification summary feature. The feature will be a part of the Samsung AI suite alongside other tools like Live Translate. It seems like Galaxy devices that take on the full suite, like Samsung's newest flagship phones, will get the feature. Older, mid-range devices might not see it. The feature is currently limited to Korea and seems to be locked behind Samsung's upcoming One UI 7. It's highly likely more devices will see the full feature rollout in regions that get access to Galaxy AI in One UI 7. One UI 7 is reportedly also set to bring features like homework help in Circle to Search, as well as more robust parental controls. Recent reports indicate that the One UI 7 beta is going to be announced soon, after suffering from extended delays. That update may include Galaxy AI's new notification summary feature.

Samsung One UI 7 might add AI notification summaries, just like Apple Intelligence
A new rumor suggests Samsung's upcoming One UI 7 software update could add a new Galaxy AI feature that's already available as part of Apple Intelligence in iOS 18.1: notification summaries. This comes from well-known tipster @chunvn8888 (via SamMobile), but there's not much to go off here. All that's said is Galaxy AI has had a notification summary feature added, which Samsung is calling AI notification. The update hasn't been publicly announced, which leads us to believe it's currently being tested as part of One UI 7. We're expecting a beta version of One UI 7 to be made available to Samsung phone users before the end of the month. If it is indeed added to the Galaxy AI suite of features, there's a good chance it'll work on a variety of different phones: we've seen Galaxy AI features make their way to phones such as the Galaxy S22 after originally launching with the Galaxy S24. The idea of notification summaries in Apple Intelligence is that AI will read all of your messages for you and pick out the most important points - saving you time as you won't have to check them all individually. While the feature has only just been made available, it's not been an unqualified success so far. TechRadar's John-Anthony Disotto found the experience a little freaky and unnerving, and it doesn't work well for personal messages - like break-up texts. It's perhaps for the best then that you can turn it off, or customize it on an app-by-app basis. There are perhaps certain types of apps and notifications better suited to being summarized than others. Samsung seems to think the feature is very much worthwhile, and potentially useful for Galaxy phone owners. If it does appear as a Galaxy AI feature soon, it'll join tools such as Sketch to Image and AI-powered audio transcription.

Samsung may have copied one of the better Apple Intelligence features
Leaker chunvn8888 asserts on X that Samsung is offering a notification summary feature in a recent version of the One UI 7 beta (ending in "XJW"). This feature is apparently called AI notification and only supports the Korean language for now. We're guessing it'll support English and a few other languages when the stable version of One UI 7 is released. If this sounds familiar, that's because iPhones support this functionality as part of the Apple Intelligence suite of AI features. Apple summarizes your notifications if you've got two more notifications from the same source, and it works with almost any app. We called it the best part of Apple Intelligence, although there's still some room for improvement. So we hope Samsung's take on the feature works in a similar way while offering a little more polish.

Samsung's One UI 7 update might steal this Apple Intelligence feature | Digital Trends
The mobile phone world is on the brink of an AI arms race. Between Apple Intelligence making its debut on the iPhone 16, the impending release of Samsung's One UI 7 beta, and the latest Pixels coming with Google's AI, all the major players are getting ready to utilize one of the most transformative technologies of our lifetime. Now, we have news that Samsung plans to make off like a bandit with one of Apple Intelligence's core features: notification summaries. The tip comes from leaker Chun Bhai on X. Bhai says the feature is called AI notification and can be found in the latest One UI 7 build. The feature is currently being tested, but it's a safe enough assumption that it will appear in the final release version of One UI 7. Recommended Videos According to the leaks, this functionality might skip Samsung's midrange phones and work only with flagships. Sorry, Galaxy A users; it might be time to start looking for your next top-of-the-line phone. Galaxy AI now has notification summary feature, it's called AI notification. — Chun Bhai (@chunvn8888) November 2, 2024 Galaxy AI already has a few summarization features, but those are for text within the Samsung Notes app. It doesn't currently summarize texts or notifications, so the rollout of this feature would make any compatible Samsung phone that much more appealing. We've already seen what notification summaries can do on Apple Intelligence, and the results are mighty impressive. The idea that these may come to Samsung phones is pretty enticing. Chun Bhai has made several accurate predictions, but there's a bit of debate over the legitimacy of this one. The version of the build they reference is the same version that Ice Universe (a much more trusted source) recently confirmed, but then Ice went on to predict the release would be delayed until mid-November, if not longer -- possibly into 2025. The next few years will encompass major developments in the world of mobile AI, but many of the most highly-touted features should become common across all devices.

Samsung could borrow this Apple Intelligence feature
Thanks to the AI boom, many companies like Apple and Samsung are introducing new AI features to their phones. In some cases, some of these AI features are similar to each other, but in other cases, they are different. That could change in the future because Samsung could be looking to borrow an Apple Intelligence feature for Galaxy AI. According to a post on X by @chunvn8888, Samsung is working to bring a notification summary feature to Galaxy AI. For those unfamiliar, one of the features of Apple Intelligence is notification summaries. This basically summarizes notifications from things like your chats so that you can get an idea of what's going on at a glance. The idea is that it will save you time instead of having to go through all your messages one by one. Based on this report, Samsung wants to bring something similar to Galaxy AI, but whether or not it will function exactly like Apple Intelligence remains to be seen. We're not sure when this feature will roll out, so we'll have to wait and see. We can't say we're too surprised that this is happening. After all, many smartphone makers already kind of copy each other in terms of features, so to start borrowing AI features from one phone maker seems par for the course.
