Along with every other well-covered change in One UI 7, Samsung has detailed a bunch of new camera features. The features vary from changing the layout of the app itself to improving slow motion among lens selections. Samsung's camera app has been steadily improving over the last few years, and each Galaxy S phone iteration has brought a couple of changes. In One UI 6, the camera app was well-rounded and really made using Samsung's camera arrays rather easy, though some tweaking could still be done. The Galaxy S25 launched with One UI 7, and these functions, but the detailed changes are now coming to other devices with the update. Keep in mind that some features may not be available for your device. According to a forum post from Samsung's camera team, the app is getting a few changes, broken down into the app itself, changes to features, and even editing functions. The biggest and most noticeable change is the app's new layout in One UI 7. Rather than megapixel count, flash controls, and other options sitting at the top of the camera app, the One UI 7 version will offer those functions in a new folder next to zoom controls. Exposure controls are also now in this folder. The additional "See More" mode in the radial wheel has now been adjusted to a pop-up for easier access. With the addition of LOG video, Samsung notes that an exposure monitor will be available when shooting in the format. Zebra pattern and false color options will be available to fine-tune your images. That's in addition to a filter option, in which users can use custom filters or AI-developed ones. Perhaps the most exciting camera additions are video editing tools like Auto Trim and Audio Eraser in One UI 7. Both utilize AI to perform their respective tasks. Audio Eraser has been an anticipated function because it makes editing out unwanted noise a little easier in post. Even for hobby videographers, the function is extremely useful. Samsung also notes improvements in One UI 7 to generative edits, citing improvements to face editing. Overall, these changes have been expected. Still, it's good to see exactly what Samsung is planning on implementing when each device receives One UI 7. As mentioned, the company notes that some features may not be available in every version of One UI 7.

Samsung Brings New Camera Features to Older Galaxy Models With One UI 7

It bundles Audio Eraser, Portrait Studio and other AI features Samsung rolled out the One UI 7 stable update for Galaxy S24 series and other handsets in South Korea on Monday. The company has now detailed the camera-centric features part of the update via its community forum. The One UI 7 update introduces support for LOG video recording on older Galaxy models. Typically used in professional video productions, it enables users to capture videos in a logarithmic colour profile. Further, they can access new features such as Motion Photos, 10-bit HDR video, and custom filters powered by artificial intelligence (AI). Samsung detailed the new camera features part of the One UI 7 update in a post on its community forum. One of the most notable inclusions is the addition of LOG video recording support. Also known as log footage, these are video recordings captured in a logarithmic colour profile. When shooting in LOG, the videos deliberately appear as flat and desaturated but retain a high dynamic range and preserve more details in highlights and shadows. To use this feature, Galaxy users are required to enable it in the settings of the camera app under the Advanced video menu option. This feature is currently limited to the Galaxy S24 series. To assist in LOG video recording, the update brings a shoot assist function. It displays the exposure monitor to help keep an eye on the exposure levels when shooting in the pro video mode. As per the company, One UI 7 also has custom filters which are created by AI and tailored to match the environments in photos. There are Motion Photos too. Similar to Apple's Live Photos, the feature does not only capture the exact moment, but also 1.5-second snippets of before and after hitting the shutter. Samsung claims the update introduces a changed bottom panel in the Camera app with new options for setting the exposure value, using grid lines, and other options. It also includes several AI features. One of the additions is Audio Eraser. As the name suggests, it can eliminate distracting noise in videos by adjusting the volume of elements such as voice, wind, and other sounds. Portrait Studio, multi-mask, and Auto Trim are other inclusions. Overlay translations are also available as part of One UI, which leverages Galaxy AI to maintain the original text colour and background while translating the text within the image.
