'Fourth city' at Mucherla with AI, sports & health hubs: CM A Revanth Reddy
HYDERABAD: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy Wednesday announced the Congress govt's ambitious plans to develop a 'fourth city' on the land acquired for Pharma City at Mucherla in Rangareddy district by the previous BRS govt. Speaking in the Assembly during a debate on the Appropriation Bill, he said the 'fourth city' would be the 'future city'. "After Hyderabad, Secunderabad and Cyberabad, we are going to establish a 'fourth city' at Mucherla with skills development university, an artificial intelligence hub, a world class stadium, super-speciality hospitals and universities," he said. A health tourism hub will be developed at a cost of Rs 1,000 crore, the CM said, adding that Hyderabad is sought-after for medical and health requirements from other states, Middle East and many other countries. The National Academy of Construction, which is presently in located Hi-Tec City, will be shifted to Mucherla and accommodated on a much larger space to impart skills to youth to enable them to work within the country and also abroad, Revanth said. The new city will also get metro rail connectivity. He said this in reply to former industry minister and BRS MLA KT Rama Rao, who raised the issue of returning the land to farmers. The Pharma City project was scrapped by the Congress govt after it came to power last year. Targeting the previous BRS govt that planned the Pharma City, he said: "There was no thinking whatsoever on the part of the earlier govt by acquiring land from farmers for the purpose of Pharma City. Instead, our plans are much bigger to develop the entire place into a new city which will be the future city of Hyderabad." Asserting that his govt would focus on development of sports infrastructure, the CM said a new cricket stadium where international matches can be hosted will be constructed. "I have already spoken to BCCI about hosting international matches in the proposed stadium," Revanth said. Apart from the skills university and cricket stadium, Revanth said the proposed AI hub will be established on 200 acres. BRS refused Centre's plan to extend MMTS: CM There will a lso be a golf course with international standards for elite people to play and promote the sport," he said, hinting at KTR. To KTR's suggestion that the govt should reconsider its decision to scrap the proposed metro rail connectivity from Raidurg to Shamshabad airport as 10 lakh IT employees would be benefitted with the connectivity, Revanth asked, "Why didn't the BRS govt allow extension of MMTS connectivity to Shamshabad airport when it could have been extended from Umdanagar which is closer to the airport." Revanth said though the Centre had come forward to extend the MMTS stretch by two-and-a-half km to connect MMTS to Shamshabad, the BRS govt refused to part with land. Telangana CM announces ambitious plans to develop a future city on pharma city lands at Mucherla
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has unveiled the Congress Government's plan to develop fourth city after Hyderabad, Secunderabad and Cyberabad, with all facilities claiming it will be the future city of the State. The venue for the proposed city will be Mucherla where huge lands are acquired for developing pharma city. The Government plans to set up its brainchild the Young India Skills University at Mucherla and shift the National Academy of Construction there to provide skill training to aspiring youth so that they are ready to work anywhere within the country and abroad. Health City Along with the Skills University, it is proposed to develop a health city in 1,000 acres in the pharma city to make the city a healthcare hub in the coming days. "There has been constant rise in the footfall into Hyderabad for medical requirements from other States as well as Middle East and other countries," he said. World class stadium The Government at the same time will focus on development of sports infrastructure on the pharma city land by constructing a world class stadium there for hosting international matches. The Chief Minister recalled how the infrastructure created for hosting the Afro Asian Games was lying idle and said his Government was committed to improve the infrastructure to ensure world class sportspersons emerge from here. The Government was in talks with the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) for hosting international cricket tournaments in the proposed stadium. "Small countries are bagging several medals in Olympics, but 140 crore people are clapping over the country winning bronze medal," he said. Mr. Revanth Reddy said the Government was committed to provide Group-I level jobs to boxer Nikhat Zareen and bowler Mohammed Siraj who brought laurels to the city and letters would be issued to them soon. AI Hub Besides the Skill University and the stadium, an Artificial Intelligence hub would be establishedin the same vicinity that would be spread over 200 acres. "This will be the city of the future. It will attract investments, promote health tourism and skill development. Besides, plans are afoot to set up an international class golf course there to promote the sport," he said. In his close to half an hour speech during the discussion on the Appropriation Bill 2024-25 tabled in the State Assembly on Wednesday, the Chief Minister launched trenchant attack on the previous BRS Government for ignoring the interests of the State. "There is some similarity in Artificial Intelligence and BRS member K.T. Rama Rao I am told. Mr. Rama Rao's claims are 100 per cent artificial and he is zero per cent intelligent," he said leading to a furore in the House. Read Comments

Telangana to get fourth major city: CM
Mucherla, near Hyderabad, is set to get a new identity. During the debate on Budget Appropriation in the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy said the State will have a fourth major city after Hyderabad, Secunderabad and Cyberabad, and the location will be Mucherla. It's also the site for the previous regime's proposed Hyderabad Pharma City -- a pharmaceuticals industrial park -- that now stands cancelled. Taking a dig at the Opposition BRS for their "failure to deliver" during their two stints in government, Reddy said, "They called it pharmacity, we call it pharma villages... If pharma companies set up thousands of acres, the entire area will be polluted. What we want to do is to connect agriculture and use of artificial intelligence." "We are creating a great city in Mucherla. We are building a fourth city in Mucherla, which is going to be our future city. We will also provide metro facility there," he said. The Telangana government plans to set up a Young India Skills University at Mucherla and shift the National Academy of Construction there too. It proposes to develop a 1,000-acre health city to turn the city into a healthcare hub. "There has been a constant rise in footfall into the city for medical requirements from other States as well as Middle East and other countries," he said. Reddy said the focus will be on the development of sports infrastructure on the pharma city land, including constructing a world-class stadium to host international matches. Reddy also said his government will work on agriculture, industry, IT, and excise policies. KTR's counter Meanwhile, KTR responded to the criticism of the erstwhile BRS government by highlighting the state's achievements over the past decade. "Your socio-economic survey itself praised Telangana's development," he said. According to the survey, the gross state development product (GSDP) increased from ₹4 lakh crore to ₹14.5 lakh crore and the per capita income, at ₹3.47 lakh, is the highest in the country. "Telangana's contribution to the GDP has steadily increased from 4.1 per cent in 2014 to 5 per cent in 2023, as per your data," he said. "We will support constructive bills brought by the government. However, the Congress government, after coming to power, has reneged on its guarantees and is indulging in impractical pursuits. It is disheartening to label a state with assets as a debt-ridden state," KTR argued. "The socio-economic survey itself contradicts your negative propaganda. In terms of development expenditure, Telangana ranks first in the country with a 74 per cent share. "We have effectively managed our net debt at ₹3,87,000 crore, which is considerably lower compared to many other states. Our debt-to-GSDP ratio stands at 27.9 per cent, better than 14 other states. Our revenue receipts are also robust," he said. "Comparing debt levels globally, our state is in a much better position. Productive investment from borrowing is viewed as an investment in the future. By 2024, we have increased the state's revenue to ₹1,64,000 crore," he said. The Opposition also demanded a detailed project report on the government's much talked about Musi beautification project. The Bill was passed by voice vote. SHARE Copy linkEmailFacebookTwitterTelegramLinkedInWhatsAppRedditPublished on July 31, 2024

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announces ambitious plans to develop a futuristic fourth city near Hyderabad, focusing on artificial intelligence, sports, and healthcare sectors.
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has unveiled ambitious plans to develop a fourth major city in the state, aiming to position it as a hub for artificial intelligence, sports, and healthcare. The proposed city will be located at Mucherla, approximately 45 km from Hyderabad, on lands originally earmarked for the Hyderabad Pharma City project 1.
The new city is strategically positioned to complement the existing tri-city area of Hyderabad, Secunderabad, and Cyberabad. Chief Minister Reddy emphasized that the development would be carried out in a planned manner, avoiding the haphazard growth seen in other urban areas 2.
A key feature of the proposed city is its focus on artificial intelligence (AI) and technology. The government plans to establish a dedicated AI City within the larger development, aiming to attract global tech companies and foster innovation in the rapidly growing field of artificial intelligence 3.
In addition to technology, the new city will place a strong emphasis on sports and healthcare. Plans include the development of world-class sports facilities and a state-of-the-art medical hub. These initiatives are designed to promote both physical well-being and medical advancements, potentially attracting international attention in these sectors 1.
To ensure seamless integration with the existing urban landscape, the government is planning significant infrastructure developments. This includes improved road connectivity and the potential extension of the Hyderabad Metro to the new city. These measures aim to facilitate easy access and promote sustainable urban growth 2.
The development of this fourth city is expected to have a substantial economic impact on Telangana. By focusing on high-growth sectors like AI, sports, and healthcare, the government anticipates significant job creation and increased investment in the region. This aligns with the state's broader goals of economic diversification and technological advancement 3.
While the plans for the new city are ambitious, they also face potential challenges. These include land acquisition, environmental concerns, and the need for sustainable development practices. The success of this project will largely depend on effective planning, execution, and the ability to attract both domestic and international investments in the targeted sectors 2.
