Smart whiteboard manufacturer Vibe is expanding further into hybrid work hardware with the Vibe Bot, a physical AI device that can serve as a voice assistant, a smart webcam, and an AI note-taker, designed for office desks and meeting rooms. Despite the name, Vibe Bot is definitely not a robot. In fact it's closer to something you'd expect to find among Amazon's Echo line: a cylindrical speaker with a small, circular screen, beam-forming microphones, and a built-in 4K camera for video calls. Like some of Amazon's Echo Shows, it can even rotate that screen and camera, tracking speakers in group conversations to make sure that the right person is always on screen. It's not just a webcam though. It can record the audio from meetings, both online and offline, with live transcription along with AI-generated notes after the fact. You can use the voice assistant to ask questions about current and previous meetings, make recommendations, and trigger actions in other integrated apps like calendars and project management tools, though Vibe hasn't confirmed any specific supported apps just yet.

It's launching a new product called Vibe Bot - a compact, physical, in-room device modeled on the popular Labubu toys that's paired with advanced spatial intelligence capabilities. It's uniquely able to keep track of everything that's said during a meeting and organize that information into clear decisions and next-steps. Founder and Chief Executive Charles Yang said Vibe Bot is designed to combat the growing problem of hybrid workplace fatigue. He points to data from a 2024 study by Atlassian Pty Ltd., which found that 54% of workers report they frequently leave meetings without a clear idea of what's next on their agenda. "Organizations can't afford to let institutional knowledge slip between the cracks of Zoom calls, whiteboards and hallway conversations," he said. "The difference between winning and falling behind often comes down to how effectively a team captures knowledge and turns it into action." Vibe Bot's task is to sit in on corporate meetings and ensure that every single detail is recorded and all context is carried forward so that no key details get lost between conversations. Its symmetrical shape means it can be placed anywhere in the room and interact with users from every angle. Remote attendees are accommodated too, for Vibe Bot can integrate with collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams and Slack. It pairs spatial intelligence with a swiveling camera that allows it to switch focus instantly and hone in on whoever is speaking in real-time, while projecting their video likeness onto a 4K resolution screen to remote attendees. Throughout each meeting, Vibe Bot will record everything that's said by attendees before transforming this into a structured, searchable thread. Furthermore, it integrates with existing project management tools and calendars so it can delegate tasks that were assigned during the meeting, set reminders and facilitate reviews when required. Because Vibe Bot also supports voice interaction, it can take on the role of a senior consultant, responding to user's questions about any meeting it sat in on. For instance, someone might ask for a quick summary of what was said throughout and the action items created, or they can ask for more specific details on a particular issue that was discussed. "The device is portable and easy to set up anywhere to capture critical online and offline conversations," Yang said. "Work no longer resets after each interaction. Businesses can finally reduce bottlenecks created by siloed collaboration tools and get the continuity they've been missing to move forward." Vibe is showcasing Vibe Bot at its booth at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week, with the device set to be launched later this year.
